Hunter was in her apartment bedroom trying to find something to where, Grant was staying the night with Lucy and by extension Tamara seeing as Lucy and Tamara were living together. Hunter was raiding her wardrobe and checking dresses out in front of the mirror. Before she inevitably threw them on her bed.
She wondered if Tim was having the same problem as her to try and find clothes for the restaurant as it wasn't Ravenna they were going somewhere different, fancier.
***
Tim meanwhile was trying different coloured shirts on even though they were all the exact same, the colours ranged from light blue to black and then a bunch of varieties of blues and a few greys.
Tim sighed and called Hunter on speaker seeing as Lexi was out with Tamara. "Oh. Hi. I'm almost there."
"No. No -- No, you're not." Tim said.
"No, I'm not. Sorry. Um, are you?"
"No! Uh... Does this restaurant have a dress code?" Tim asked.
"Uh...no. I mean, you could wear cargo shorts if you wanted."
"Really?" Tim asked knowing she was lying.
"Yeah. I mean, what does it matter, as long as you're comfortable?" Hunter replied.
"Nice try. That was clearly a test. And you should know better than to test the master. What are you wearing?" Tim asked.
"Yeah, um, I don't know yet, but I do have a lot of outfits that I am not going to wear, so..."
"Well, we are running low on time. Traffic's getting ugly." Tim comments.
***
Hunter had grabbed a dress out of her wardrobe and was looking at it in the mirror. "Yeah, totally. I -- It's silly. I just need to make a decision. Uh, yes. The green dress. It is decided." She said.
"Great. Well, I-I'll see you soon."
"Okay. Bye." Hunter puts her phone down and looks at the dress. "No. Oh, my God." Hunter huffed and walked back to her wardrobe.
***
Tim and Hunter were at the restaurant, Hunter was wearing a floral cutout long sleeve dress in floral green while Tim was wearing a dark navy blue shirt, black jeans and a navy blue blazer. The two were sitting in awkward silence, not sure what to talk about it was worse than their first date at Ravenna. Tim took a sip of wine. "It's -- It's good bread." Tim said.
"Yeah, it's -- it's such a nice assortment." Hunter said.
"Mm-hmm." Tim hummed.
"The breadsticks... Yeah." Hunter sighed.
"What did you order, again?" Tim asked.
"Oh, the sea bass." Hunter said.
"Right." Tim said nodding his head.
"Mm-hmm." Hunter hummed.
"Yeah. It's good," Tim chuckled. "I almost ordered the sea bass."
"Oh, cool." Hunter said nodding her head.
"Mm-hmm." Tim hummed.
"Why is this so weird?" Hunter asked. "We've eaten together literally hundreds of times. It wasn't this awkward on the other date." Hunter said.
"Because, you know, our other meals only ever held the promise of being shot at afterwards as did the other date, you know? And not, like, naked time." Tim said.
"Naked time? Please. I mean, we've seen plenty of naked people after we ate, hell we've seen each other naked after eating." Hunter said.
"Yeah, that's not --" Tim was saying.
"No, no, no. I know. I know. I know," Hunter interrupts quickly, putting a hand up. "I-I feel like I might -- I -- I might just need you to reset your expectations a little bit. You're not gonna see me naked for... a while," Hunter chuckles. "I mean, I don't want to rush into that. Even though this is our second time dating I wanna take things slow," Tim nods, taking a sip of his wine again. "Go on this date, maybe a third date, have our first real kiss again. I just don't think we should jump into bed together, just because we know each other so well and the fact that we've had sex many times before, right? I mean, do you...?" Hunter trailed off.
"No, I -- Agreed." Tim said.
"Yeah?" Hunter asked, she noticed Tim's head snap up to the door as it opened and someone walked in before he relaxed, Hunter looked over and then back at Tim and smirks. "Are you worried someone from the station is gonna walk in?" She asked.
"What?" Tim asked innocently.
"You are." Hunter said smiling.
"No, I --" Tim was saying.
"Wow." Hunter said smiling widely.
"What are the odds?" Tim asked.
Suddenly there's a loud crash from the kitchen and the two cops snapped their heads towards the noise. "Um -- What was that?" Hunter asked.
"Uh, restaurants can be a stressful environment." Tim replied.
The chef and cook start walking into the dining part of the restaurant. "Get out of my kitchen!" The chef yelled.
"Yeah, yeah."
"Get out of my kitchen now! Goodbye!"
Hunter looked to Tim for a moment. "Should we do something?" She asked.
"See ya!" The chef yelled at the cook.
"It'll blow over." Tim replied.
"You don't like my rules, you can get the hell out of my restaurant!"
That's when the cook picked up a sharp stake knife, Hunter threw her napkin onto the table. "Knife." She said.
"LAPD!" Tim shouts as he stands up with his off-duty weapon in one hand and his sergeant badge in the other. "Drop the knife!"
Hunter grabs her napkin and points at another customer. "Call 911." She said.
"Drop it," the cook dropped the knife. "Get on your stomach. Hands behind your back." The cook complied and Tim starts cuffing him.
"Are you okay?" Hunter asked, she wrapped a cloth around the hand wound. "Okay, just put some pressure on it," she said, Hunter then turned to Tim. "What are the chances someone from the station walks in now?" Hunter asked.
That's when lights started flashing outside the restaurant, Tim stood up and turned around sighing before sharing a look with Hunter while scanning the restaurant for a back entrance to escape through.
***
Hunter was in the bullpen when Tim walked over to her. "Hey." Tim said.
"Okay, we can't deny the facts. We were both at the restaurant. It's in the police report." Hunter deadpanned.
"And for all we know, the witness reports mention the fact that we were sitting together." Tim agreed.
"Yeah," Hunter agreed, the two smiled at a cop walking by and then Hunter turned to Tim again. "This is not strange. I mean, coworkers eat together. It's a thing." She whispered.
"At the most romantic restaurant in town?" Tim asked her.
"Right. Well, I mean, we could come clean." Hunter suggested.
"Are you ready for that? Are you ready for Smitty's commentary on us dating or the "oohs" every time we walk into the roll call room together?" Tim asked her.
"Or we could lie. Okay, I have an idea. I heard from a C.I. that there were drugs coming out of the kitchen. And --" Hunter was saying.
"And you asked me to join as backup." Tim adds, interrupting her.
"Right. Like a soft undercover infiltration." Hunter agreed.
"Not bad." Tim said smirking.
"Thank you." Hunter smiled.
That's when Nolan walked over to the two of them. "Morning."
"Hey." Hunter said, knowing that giving answers when no questions were asked was a no go seeing as that would just give them away.
"Morning." Tim replied.
Nolan looked behind him into the briefing room where Aaron and Celina were talking. "Those two have gotten close lately, haven't they?" Nolan asked.
"You think something's going on with them?" Hunter asked, sharing a subtle look with Tim.
"Oh, I'm sure he's just being nice to the new rookie," that's when Grey knocks on the window, Nolan looked at him and points to himself and Grey points at Tim and Hunter. "Boss wants to see you guys. Have a safe one." He said, walking off.
***
Tim walked over to Grey's office with Hunter and held the door open for her before stepping in beside her. "I think you know how I feel about coworkers dating," Tim and Hunter looked at each other, both tensing up. "When I started, no one thought much of it," Tim clasped his hands in front of his duty belt. "But things have changed. We're now more aware of how power dynamics can skew things. Even the most innocent of relationships can become a distraction," Tim's hand slips off his other hand before he places it back. "Hey, trust me, I get it. We spend 12 hours a day together. Feelings are bound to develop. But we can't afford even a hint of impropriety."
"We couldn't agree more." Tim said.
"Good," Grey stands up and walked over to Tim and Hunter. "Look... I don't want to be the old guy interfering with people's lives, especially their love life, but this whole Aaron and Celina situation has me worried." Grey said.
Hunter and Tim practically deflated. "The Aaron and Celina situation." Hunter said, nodding her head sighing with relief.
Grey's looking out into the briefing room where Aaron and Celina were still talking. "Aaron's barely out of long sleeves. Half the town still thinks he's a killer. And Celina's making progress. She needs to focus on getting through her probationary period," Grey looked at Tim and Hunter. "Will you talk to them?" He asked.
"Yes, of course we," Hunter nods. "Yes."
"Not a problem." Tim said.
"Thank you." Grey said.
***
Tim and Hunter walked, once again Tim holds the door open for Hunter and followed her out. "Oh, the irony." Tim said.
"Are you gonna talk to Aaron?" Hunter asked.
"About his love life? Can't wait. When are you gonna talk to Celina?" Tim asked.
"I can't tell her not to date a cop. That is so hypocritical," that's when Hunter noticed Nolan talking to someone and looked at Tim. "Oh. I'm gonna get Nolan to do it." Hunter starts walking off.
"That's cheating." Tim called out.
"Mm-hmm." Hunter hummed.
***
Tim and Aaron were patrolling, Tim glances at Aaron for a moment before looking back out the windscreen. "You and Celina dating?" He asked bluntly.
"Sir, that's a personal question, and you have said on numerous occasions that this is a personal-life-free zone." Aaron said.
"It is," Aaron looked at him. "But here we are. Yes or no?" Tim asked.
"Sir, with all due respect, would it matter if we were? Cops date all the time. I mean, you were married to a cop," Tim nods. "Look, if -- if I was in her chain of command, I'd get it. You know, people would wonder if I was making decisions based on our relationship," Tim's eyes widened. "They'd wonder if she was dating me under duress. Whew! It would be a nightmare, man," Tim looked out the window. "One of us would probably have to transfer to a whole different station." Tim's eyes widened even more if that was possible.
"Forget I asked." Tim deadpanned.
***
Hunter looked at Grant before looking back out on the road to make sure she doesn't crash. "How's the house hunting going with Lucy?" She asked.
"So far so good." Grant said, nodding his head.
"Find somewhere?" Hunter asked.
Grant looked at Hunter. "Are you trying to get rid of me?" He asked her.
Hunter just smiled slightly and rolled her eyes. "No, just checking," Grant gives his raven haired friend a look. "Okay maybe I am but I see how happy you and Lucy are together so I'm just asking questions." She said, shrugging.
That's when Dispatch speaks over the radio. "7-Adam-15, 7-Adam-20, and 7-Adam-100 to monitor. 2-11 bank, in progress. Manually activated hold-up alarm at 71414 Wilshire at Westwood. More to follow."
Grant looked at Hunter. "Code 3?" He asked.
"Yeah, but we shut it down two blocks out. Don't let them know we're coming. Surround them in silence." Hunter replied.
"Copy." Grant flipped on the sirens.
***
Grant, Hunter, Tim and Aaron arrived on scene and were making sure that the robbers didn't see them. "7-Adam-100. We're on scene covering the A-side." Aaron said into his radio.
Hunter grabbed her own radio off of her belt. "7-Adam-20. We're on scene also covering the A-side." She places it away and that's when James appears beside Hunter, the four cops looked at him. "James? What are you doing here?" Hunter asked.
"Nyla and I were inside," one of the robbers, Todd, notices the cops and shouts something but it's muffled to the outside. "She's still in there. There's at least two suspects. I have the GROUT." James explained.
Hunter shared a look with her fellow cops and grabbed her radio off of her duty belt and presses the button and speaks into it. "All units, stand by for robbery suspect descriptions." She said.
Hunter points her radio at James and he speaks into it. "Suspect One, Todd Shelf, male, white, black jacket, dark pants. Suspect Two, male, white, black jacket, gray jeans."
That's when Todd opens the doors and everyone runs out, his yelling is no longer muffled. "Hey, everybody out! Up! Out the door! Come on! Come on! Let's go! Hurry up! Move it! Let's go! Right now! Come on! Let's go! Come on! Out the door! Come on! Move! Move it! Let's go! Outside!"
Everyone runs down the street and Tim stands up, yelling out. "Move, move! Move, move! Get down!" That's when Todd starts running with his partner, Tim speaks into his radio. "The suspect's headed north on foot. We need backup and air support." Tim looks at the other cops. "Let's go."
Hunter looks at James as she places her radio back on her belt. "Thanks." She said before going with Tim, Aaron and Grant.
***
The four cops were carefully searching for suspect two, Tim speaks into his radio. "7-Adam-100 and 7-Adam-20. On foot, searching for Suspect Two. Send additional units to my north and east. We'll keep searching this grid."
"Copy, 7-Adam-100." Tim puts his radio away and they keep searching.
***
The four cops were still walking when Aaron spotted the suspect and turned to him. "Stop!"
Roger, the second suspect shoots at the cops, the four of them duck for cover and Roger takes off running across the road takes cover behind another car. "7-Adam-100 and 7-Adam-20. Shots fired," Tim, Hunter, Grant and Aaron were behind a car right across from the car Roger was hiding behind. "In foot pursuit of Suspect Two. 600 block of Kenmore," Tim taps Hunter, she looked at him. "Hey, we need to end this before someone gets caught in the crossfire."
"I'm down. What's the plan?" Hunter asked.
"All right. You stay low. I'm gonna distract him, then you shoot him." Tim said.
"That's a terrible plan." Hunter deadpanned.
"Trust me." Tim slowly moves to the back of the car he was hiding behind when Roger noticed a woman leave the house and shoots at the cops, causing them to take cover and he manages to get to the woman's car and hold her hostage.
Tim, Hunter, Grant and Aaron move forward carefully and take cover behind another car. "Suspect, drop the gun, exit the vehicle, now!" Tim yelled.
"Back off or she's dead!" Roger yelled and sirens wail in the background, Tim waves at the shop arriving and sends it back to keep the hostage safe.
Grant grabbed his radio out. "Post up, block the streets. He's got a hostage."
That's when Lucy got out of the shop. "7U1, Suspect Two has taken a hostage inside a vehicle at 9321 Kenmore. Mobilize Metro and alert command." She said into the radio, staying behind the door just in case she needed to take cover.
"I said back off! I will kill her, I swear to God!" Roger yelled at the cops.
"You don't have to do that, okay? Let's just take a big breath." Tim said calmly to Roger.
"Screw that! Clear the street and let us go, now!" Roger yelled.
"I can't do that, and you know it."
Aaron looked at Tim. "What should I do?" He asked.
"Have dispatch RMS the address. Let's get a background on everyone who lives here, see if we can get a cellphone for the woman he's got hostage." Tim replied.
***
Later, SWAT and backup had arrived all ready to shoot Roger if needed, Tim and Hunter were looking around in-between a SWAT car and a shop. Hunter looked at Tim. "Remember this morning, when dating in secret was our biggest problem?" She asked him.
"God, that feels like a million years ago." Tim said.
"Yeah. Did you talk to Aaron?" Hunter asked him.
"Yeah." Tim sighed.
"And?" Hunter asked.
"He neither confirmed nor denied." Tim said.
"But...?" Hunter asked, knowing there was a but coming.
"But he pointed out that it wouldn't be problematic because he's not her superior and doesn't fall in her chain of command." Tim deadpanned.
"Oh, but we've already mentioned this and agreed to keep it secret because of it." Hunter said.
"Yeah." Tim replied.
That's when Hunter realised something. "We've forgotten the bodycams pick up sound." She said.
"Ah." Tim replied, he looked at Hunter. "We can bribe the IT department with the Dodgers tickets your brother sent to erase it." He said.
"Good idea." Hunter nodded.
That's when Tim checked his city issued phone having heard it chime. "I got our hostage's phone number. Her name is Vanessa Greer." Tim said, he stepped out and called Vanessa's phone and showed it to Roger.
"H-Hello?" Vanessa asked.
"Hi, Vanessa. This is Sergeant Bradford. You can call me Tim. Try to stay calm. We're gonna get you out of there, okay?" Tim asked her, he had the phone on speaker phone.
"I'm -- I'm scared."
"I know." Tim replied.
"Enough! I'm not negotiating, Bradford! Back everybody away from the house and let us leave, and then I'll drop her off around the block." Roger tried to bargain.
"You know I can't let you leave." Tim said.
"Then I hope you brought some body bags."
Tim sighed and glanced at Hunter before speaking again. "All right. All right, listen. Just give me 10 minutes. I've got to get these cars out of the street. It's a parking lot out here."
"You got 2 minutes! Hang up. Hang up!" Roger yelled and Tim was met with beeping on the other end.
"You're not really gonna let him drive away, are you?" Hunter asked.
"No. I got a plan." Tim said.
***
"Are you sure about this?" Hunter asked Tim.
"I'm sure he's gonna kill her if we don't do something. Where's my distraction?" Tim asked her.
"It's ready and waiting." Hunter replied.
"All right. Ready?" Tim asked.
"Yeah." An officer answered.
"Let's do this." Tim said.
That's when an RA arrived and Grant, Aaron and Lucy were tasked with sending it back, Tim used the distraction to crawl under Vanessa's car with a drill and his peppers spray, Tim carefully drilled into the floor of Vanessa's car.
"Here we go! Here we go!" Roger yelled at Vanessa.
"That's the signal." Hunter said.
"Go, go!" An officer yelled.
Tim sprayed the pepper-spray in the car and Vanessa was pulled out and Roger got himself out and Tim comes out from underneath and arrested him. "In the car! You got no play here. It's over. Throw out your gun, give yourself up. -- You're working with two other people. What are their names?" Tim asked.
"Forget it. I'm not ratting anybody out. Aah!" Roger exclaimed in pain as Tim hauled him up.
"Your buddy Todd left you behind. You're looking at decades in prison unless you give up your partners." Tim said.
"Fine." Roger reluctantly agreed.
***
Tim and Aaron were searching for suspect 1's, the woman who was shot during the robbery, phone when Nolan came over the radio. "7-Adam-15, we found Suspect Three's burner phone. Signal's been static for about three minutes. They're likely still in the area."
That's when Tim and Aaron found the other phone. "7-Adam-100, we've got the other one, also dumped. Signal static for less than two minutes. Given how slowly they were moving beforehand, I'd say they're most likely on foot." Tim puts the radio away.
"Yeah, which means their first priority is going to be finding a clean car." Aaron said.
"If you want a selection to choose from, I know where I'd go." Tim said, looking up before grabbing his radio again. "7-Adam-100, fourth floor is clear, headed to five." Tim said.
***
Tim and Aaron were on the roof looking around. "Maybe you were wrong." Aaron comments when suddenly their shop is rammed into and pushed towards the edge, Tim tried to reverse but the shop ended up hanging off of the edge of the building and the suspects drove away. "Okay, what's the protocol here, Sarge?" Aaron asked.
Tim looked at Aaron, removing his hands from the steering wheel. "Don't move. Don't breathe." He said.
The shop creaks as it tilts slightly. "Ooh. Ohh. Um...you got a plan B?" Aaron asked.
"Um... Open the door, slowly." Tim said.
"Mm-hmm." Aaron hummed.
"Climb out." Tim said.
Aaron looked at Tim. "What about you?" He asked.
"We both can't get out at the same time." Tim replied.
"Okay, then you go first." Aaron said.
"There's only room for one of us to be a hero here, and I outrank you." Tim deadpanned.
Aaron looked at Tim. "Sir, with all due respect, Hunter will kill me if I let you die, so I'm dead either way." Aaron said.
"Get out of the shop, Aaron!" Tim pretty much yelled.
"Yes, sir." Aaron exited the shop.
That's when Tim felt the shop balancing out. "What are you doing?" Tim asked.
"I'm adding some ballast! It's your turn!" Aaron yelled, Tim jumped out the shop and it felt to the ground, Aaron points at it. "We don't have to pay for that, do we?" He asked.
Tim glared at Aaron before grabbing his radio and looked the destroyed shop. "7-Adam-100, suspects fled in a gray Dodge Ram, last seen exiting the parking structure of 8th and San Pedro."
"Copy that. We just heard a loud crash a minute ago." Grant said.
"Yeah, that was our shop. We need transport back to Mid-Wilshire." Tim deadpanned.
"You're kidding, right?" Hunter asked.
"Does it sound like it?" Tim replied.
***
Tim and Aaron returned to the station and they were finally able to knock off for the night, Hunter joins Tim in the bullpen as they walk, both resting their hands on their duty belts as they walk. "Well, I'm glad you didn't die. You owe me a redo on our date." Hunter said.
"It's what gave me the will to live." Tim replied.
Hunter looked at Tim and smiled. "In my mind, I'm hitting you right now." She said.
"That's good to know." Tim answered and Hunter laughed.
***
Tim and Hunter were outside a food truck at a table. "Treats of Vietnam. That's where we ended up. So, I guess this is our official second first date." Tim said.
Hunter thought for a moment and shook her head. "Mm, last night was, for sure. I mean, it's a better story for the grandkids." She said.
"We've got grandkids now," Hunter smiles at him. "Nice," Tim looked over and saw someone heading to a car looking suspicious. "Do not break into that car." Tim said.
"What?" Hunter asked. "What car?" She looked over.
"Hey, moron!" Tim yelled, the suspect looked over and Tim showed him his badge and the suspect took off running.
"You know he's just going to break into a car in a different neighborhood." Hunter deadpanned.
"Well, then some other cop can arrest him." Tim replied, before he cupped Hunter's cheek and kissed her.
