6x10: Escape Plan

Hunter had offered Lucy the live in nanny UC operation the other day as Hunter couldn't go because she made a decision to quit UC work permanently and because she didn't want the father to realise that she was pregnant.

So, Hunter and Tim were at home when Angela called Tim during breakfast. "It's Ange." He said Hunter nodded and answered the call on speaker. "Hey, you're on speaker."

"When you and Hunter arrive, get dressed and meet us in the office in the back of the building away from everyone."

Hunter frowned. "Why?" She asked.

"Don't ask questions." Angela hangs up.

"Sounds ominous and creepy." Hunter comments.

"I've stopped asking questions with the things that your sister does." Tim deadpanned. Hunter laughed and grabbed the car keys.

Hunter and Tim got to the station, got changed and walked into the room only to find Smitty and another cop, Celina and Aaron rather than Angela. Another cop looks at him and he has an annoyed look on his face. "You know that you could try to help me."

"I'm not here to help, I'm here to oversee things." Smitty says proudly. They see Angela walk in, but Smitty doesn't.

"Smitty get your ass in gear now and actually do something useful." He jumps when he hears Angela's voice.

"Uh, yes Lopez." Smitty scurries to help out. Angela cracks a smile and turns to the rest of the room.

"How's it going?" Angela asked them.

"I really wish there were more cops on the no column. But after comparing the list of Blair's patients to the list of potentially compromised police investigations that Nell provided, the maybe column's starting to fill up." Aaron explained.

"God, you weren't kidding when you said out of the way. I think this is where they store all the old asbestos." Tim comments.

Aaron and Hunter snapped their heads up. "What?" They asked.

"It's fine. Just breathe shallow. We needed a place where no one would just wander by." Angela said.

"And you trusted Smitty to keep all this a secret?" Tim deadpanned.

"We had a conversation about the consequences of loose lips." Angela replied.

Smitty poked his head in. "She threatened to hurt me in graphic detail. Used the term "gut dump." Relax. I won't say nothing about nothing." He said.

"Guys, I know who Blair's working for, and you're not going to believe it." Celina said.

LOPEZTell me." Angela said.

"I did a deep dive. I mean, we're talking kindergarten-yearbook deep. But the answers lay during her time in grad school, where Blair London moderated a student-led panel on insanity as a legal defense." Celina said.

 Celina showed them a video of Blair. "We are extremely lucky to have an expert on the nexus between mental health and criminal law, Monica Stevens."

"Son of a puta." Angela and Hunter said at the same time.

"That makes total sense. Monica represents half the criminals in the city. Selling Blair's intel on police operations would make Monica a fortune." Tim said. "What other evidence do you have?"" He asked.

"This isn't enough?" Celina asked.

"To prove criminal conspiracy? Not a chance. To a judge, all that means is they met three years ago. We need definitive proof that the relationship continues and involves criminal activity." Hunter said.

"Normally, I agree. But add it to our other investigations into Monica, and I say we have enough to at least get a wiretap order." Angela said.

"Maybe. Start writing it up. I'll go to Grey and see if he'll authorize a surveillance unit. You should notify Chen-- let her know that her undercover operation is a top priority." Tim said.

Angela turned to Smitty who was listening in the room the entire time. "Right. Smitty, get in plain clothes. I'm adding you to Lucy's support team."

"Score." Smitty walked out.

Everyone has the plan and they get ready to head out. Tim and Hunter grab their gear. For this op, they'll be riding together which they're both grateful for. Hunter grabs Tim's vest and helps him gear up. Her fingers help strap it on and Tim places his hands over hers. "Are you good?" He asked her.

Hunter smiles softly. "I am really glad that it's you at my six today."

That's when Celina and Angela walked over to them, they were back in the secret room, Lucy had been extracted and was paired with Grant for the op, Celina walked forward. "Reporting for duty. Grey said you'd be taking over as my T.O. since Nolan is otherwise engaged." Celina said.

"Define "furtherance."" Tim requested.

"Well, in this case, it involves approaching the victim with a deadly weapon in attempt to engage. Until they do, the DA won't be able to charge attempted murder."

"Correct. If we arrest Christian's guys too early, we get them on a misdemeanor gun possession, they're out in an hour. They hit Gundo before we even know about it. This is our only chance. You ready?" Hunter asked.

"Yes, ma'am." Celina nodded.

"Stay glued to Aaron's hip for the duration of the op," Tim turns address the entire team. "All right, everybody, listen up." Everyone turned to him. "Hunter, take over."

Hunter nodded and stepped up. "Okay, so Nolan and Harper are on their way to hopefully arrest Monica. She decided to leave the country. We have another job to do and honestly, you're the only group of cops that we can trust right now."

"He is dangerous so we need to be vigilant." Tim interjects. "Detective Lopez will be the homeless, crazy lady. Please don't shoot her." Angela glared at her and Tim smirked.

"The people in this room are the ones we can trust. If anything gets out, we know who leaked it. Let's round this guy and his operation up." Angela tells them all.

"Listen, we're expecting an A-side frontal attack from an unknown number of suspects. Gundo's inside already. All right, keep in mind school just got out. So watch your muzzle, watch your partner, watch your backstop. Front-sight focus, no mistakes. Officer Lopez and I will cover the rear, and we'll call for backup in case of a C-side attack." Tim said.

Tim and Hunter were in a van when Angela came over the comms. "Point has a possible. Black four-door landing, occupied four times. Christian's guys are on foot. They're wearing black hoodies, red sneakers, black masks. I see bulges under their shirts, possible weapons. Repeat, possible weapons only."

"Arrest teams, move closer, but stay hidden. Do not engage till guns come out."

"They're coming now, 15 yards away. 12 yards out, no weapons visible. Wait. One of them stopped. They're making a phone call."

"They just blocked the back door." Tim said.

"Front 3 are on the move again, about 10 yards out."

"All right, get that guy. I got the back door."

"Yeah."

Hunter's eyes widened when she saw Tim jump into the back of a truck. That's when Angela comes up to her after the others were apprehended. "Get in!" Hunter yelled at her sister and Angela got into the car.

Hunter was driving beside the truck Tim was in and he was fighting the man inside, she looked at Angela. "Angie take the wheel," Angela stared at her sister in shock and she jumped out onto the tray of the truck.

Hunter leans through the back window and throws her arms around the suspects neck. If she can get him unconscious, then Tim can press on the brakes to stop the truck. She takes a few hits but she manages to throw the guys head against the side. Her arms are wrapped tightly around his neck and he gradually lets go of Tim.

Tim places his hand on the breaks and the truck stops, Tim gets out of the truck and Hunter sighed at him with a smile. "You okay?" Hunter asked getting out of the truck with Tim.

Tim shakes his head and the paramedics come, they get Tim's arm in a sling and they return to the station.

Hunter stands in processing where Aaron was dealing with Blair. "I'm sorry." Blair apologised.

"Save it." Aaron snapped.

"I know that doesn't make up for what I did to you, to everyone." Blair said.

"I said "save it." You know, a therapist I once thought I could trust told me that I need to set boundaries for myself. And that's exactly what I'm doing. Hey, can you finish processing her for me?" Aaron asked another cop.

Hunter smiled at Aaron and they walked out together.

Hunter and Tim were talking in front of the elevators when Grey walks over to them. "You two are starting parental leave today. I don't want to see you two back until the baby's born." Grey said pointing between the two of them.

Hunter laughed and nodded. The two of them walked into the lift. "Thanks for today." Tim said to her as the doors closed.

"You had him." Hunter said with a smile.

"I was upside down in a footwell, and he was about to stab me in the face. No, I did not have him. So thank you." Tim replied.

Hunter smiled. "You're welcome." Their lift stopped in the parking lot and Hunter grabbed his arm as the two of them walked out of the station.

*5 Months Later*

Tim and Hunter walked into the house with newborn, Hope Angela Bradford, Grant and Angela had set up the nursery to Tim and Hunter's exact expectations, Lexi was waiting with Kojo sleeping on the couch.

Lexi smiled when she saw her parents and sister. "Hey, so how does it feel now that she's here?" Lexi asked her mother mostly as she was the one that went through labour.

"Well, I mean she's the cutest baby I've ever seen so far, so pretty good." Hunter replied, Tim without saying a word took the baby carrier with Hope in it to the nursery.

Lexi and Hunter watched him go. "Did he cry?" the red head asked.

Hunter laughed. "I wish, come on, lets go check on them." The two women walked down the nursery which used to be the guest room.

Hope was looking at the ceiling from her cot and then noticed Tim, she didn't smile at him but she knew that he was her father, Hope stared at him and Tim smiled at her in return before she started looking around again.

"So, when are you two returning to work?" Lexi asked, carefully stepping into the room with Kojo and looking into the cot.

Hunter stood beside Tim. "Well, he goes back a week before me and Grey's allowed me to be on maternity leave for seven weeks rather than the normal six weeks." Hunter replied.

"That's good and if you want, I can take her seeing as I'll be at the station with Wesley for the first couple of weeks or so seeing as Blair London has decided that she wants me to be her lawyer, just to piss you two off because she knows you hate her for Mad Dog's death and for causing Aaron to move." Lexi said.

Hunter and Tim's jaws dropped. "She what?" Hunter asked.

"Yeah." Lexi said.

That's when Tim's phone chimed. "It's Grey he wants us and Hope at the station, probably to steal Hope while we're there but he's said it shouldn't take long." He said looking Hunter.

"Okay." Hunter grabbed Hope while Tim dealt with the stroller before they left to the station.

The bullpen was empty as nightshift still had to take over, Tim was carrying Hope while the stroller was sitting outside the office, Grey lights up. "Hand her over." He demands holding his arms out for the baby. Tim reluctantly deposits his daughter into the arms of her adopted grandfather who then looked at Tim and Hunter. "I've got a surprise for you, but it's about Hunter." Grey said.

"What is it?" Hunter asked.

Grey opens his drawer and pulls something out, Hope grabs it first and starts to chew on it before Grey manages to get the badge out of his mouth and hands it to Tim who wipes it off before handing it to Hunter.

Hunter's jaw dropped as she looked at the badge. "You're promoting me back to Detective?" She asked looking at Grey.

Grey nodded. "Yes, you deserve it you've done well these past five ish months being a P3," Hunter smiles at Grey as Hope makes babbling noises, Grey just nods his head smiling before turning to Tim. "And you know I'd put you back on Metro if I could."

Tim nods. "I know but you know that the hours are the worst and I want to spend time with Hope."

Grey nods. "I know and I don't except to see you two back here for six weeks," Grey points at Tim. "And 7 weeks for you." Grey points at Hunter. "Spend sometime with the baby." Grey said, he points at Hope.

When Grant knocked on the door jamb. "Thought I saw my goddaughter." Grant swiped Hope from Grey's arms. "Also, I've got news for you." He points at Hunter.

"What?" Hunter asked.

"I've been offered a Sergeant's position in North Hollywood, I'll be with Aaron seeing as he's transferred to." Grant said. Hunter's smile fell. "Look, I'll be back as soon as a spot opens up and you'll still see me, I mean Lucy's staying and I need to visit Hope whenever I can." Grant said quickly.

Hunter nodded in understanding and Hope reached out for her mother, so she took her in her arms. "Uh, well I hope you know that I can't wait for you to return because you're my closest friend." Hunter said.

"I'll be back and I'm coming over tomorrow." Grant said.

Hunter nodded and Tim bid the two other men goodbye as the two parents walked out of the office and Hunter placed Hope back in the stroller and they walked out of the building and returned home.

We finally have met the baby, also yes, I did a five month time jump as Hunter was two months pregnant six weeks after the whole Federal Reserve bank robbery thing and so she was four months pregnant by her 41st birthday in ep5.

Now, unlike Jack and Emmy Evers, Hope will be appearing a lot more mostly spending time with her sister especially in the first couple of episodes.

I told you, that I had a plan so yes, Hunter's back to being a Detective as it's been five ish months since she got demoted back to P3. You guys are gonna love me for s7, because I have plans for Hunter.

Now, I've noticed that Nyla mentioned that she had six weeks off when she gave birth to Leah so I'm just gonna pretend that that's the amount of maternity leave that they all get but Grey gave Hunter 7 weeks off.
