Tim and Hunter were still standing on the roof. Hunter grabbed Tim's arm and he turned to look at her. "We need to call Grey. We need to tell him what we saw." She said, Tim nodded and the two walked down stairs.

Hunter called Grey who walked up to them. "Hey. What happened?

"Mad Dog was in a bad way when I got here. Amped up on guilt, confessed to being dirty. Said he flipped because she knew his secrets. Then he jumped." Tim said.

"Who's she?" Grey asked, he had a feeling that he knew who Tim was referring to because he'd seen how Hunter had reacted when she first met Blair.

"Blair London." Hunter deadpanned.

"He used her name?" Grey asked.

"No, it's clear who he was talking about." Tim replied.

"Clear to you and Lopez maybe, but you got to be very careful making accusations before you have proof." Grey said.

That's when Detective Pearson walked over to the three of them. "Hell of a thing, huh? I heard you two were with him when he went over." Tim and Hunter nodded.

"You assigned to this?" Grey questioned.

"Yeah. Thought I was gonna have a quiet evening, but the universe hates me. You're saying Mad Dog jumped?" Pearson asked.

"Tim's not saying anything. That's what happened." Hunter snapped.

"Okay, look, I'm not trying to jam Bradford here," Pearson said, looking Hunter up and down pausing when he notices her small bump before speaking again. "But this needs to be handled correctly. Your buddy just led an operation that resulted in his entire team being blown up. There's a lot of eyes on this."

"Understood. And Sergeant Bradford will be forthcoming answering your questions." Grey said.

"But first, you're required to tell me if your line of questioning will lead to discipline." Tim jumped in.

"I mean, I can't rule that out at this point, but that's not where my head is at, unless it should be." Pearson comments.

Hunter rolled her eyes. "Asking the question isn't prejudicial. It's something we would all do. And since you can't rule out discipline, Sergeant Bradford is required to have an attorney and union rep present before being questioned." Grey said.

"All right, you want to play it that way, I'll meet you back at the station when you have all your ducks in a row. But first, you need to answer this question now. Did you touch him? Did he touch you? Am I gonna find your DNA on him or his on you?"

"Never got closer than a few feet." Tim said through gritted teeth, Hunter placed an arm on Tim's arm to calm him down seeing him tense up ready for a fight.

"Great. Thank you." Pearson walked off.

"I'd watch my back with him. If he thinks he can make a career move climbing over you, he will," Grey turns to Hunter. "Hunter, you need to stay away from this, Pearson seems to be focusing on Tim because of his history with Metro."

"Oh hell no, I'm staying with this and if Pearson's got a problem with that he can talk to me directly." Hunter snapped, she gripped Tim's arm and then looked at him having a silent conversation.

Grey nods and watches the two intently before speaking again. "Tim go to the station, call Nolan, Hunter, I'll drive you myself." Hunter nods and makes sure Tim's okay, she would love nothing more than to be by his side but she feels better knowing that Nolan's with him.

***

Hunter was looking out the window of Grey's car. "He'll be okay, you know?" Grey asked her.

Hunter sighed. "Ray tried to destroy our how lives and failed but he took the one thing that meant everything to Tim away from him, Metro."

Grey shakes his head. "No, he didn't," Hunter looked at Grey curiously. "I've seen how he looks at you, even before you finally got your heads out of your asses," Hunter laughed. "He looks at you like you're the whole world and you are, you're Tim's whole world, Lexi's just a part of it."

Hunter smiled and sighed again. "Mad Dog did this all on his own and it had nothing to do with Tim. And yet Pearson's blaming him."

"Because he's a POS."  Grey said.

"Did you see the look on his face when he saw my bump?" Grey nodded. "Like he was planning something, like he knew that the baby was Tim's and wanted to say something about me sleeping with my superior officer."

"And we all know that you two did start dating when he was your boss but you made changes to make sure he wasn't in your chain of command." Grey said.

***

Nolan walked over to Tim in the interrogation. "All right, union rep reporting for duty. Bring me up to speed. Who is the investigating officer?" Nolan asked as the two sat down.

"Pearson." Tim deadpanned.

"Not the best, but not the worst." Nolan said.

"He's gonna try to hang this around my neck. Department needs a scapegoat for what went down yesterday, and now their primary candidate is dead. At best, I'll be sidelined, which is why I need you to take over the investigation. Hunter cannot be involved in this."

"Investigation into what?" Nolan asked.

"Not what, who." Tim corrects.

"Okay." Nolan said.

"Blair London-- rookie police psychiatrist. Mad Dog was seeing her. So has Aaron. I believe she had leverage on Mad Dog, and that's why he betrayed the Metro op, and that's why he jumped." Tim said.

***

They arrive back at the station and Grey practically locks Hunter in his office to do paperwork knowing she'll find a way to get out anyway, Grey walked into the interrogation room where Pearson, Nolan and Tim were.

"I'm John Nolan." Nolan said introducing himself to Pearson.

"Ah yes, the union rep," he turned to Grey. "I'm assuming you will be here for the interview." Pearson said.

"Obviously." Grey said dryly, he wasn't exactly being nice to Pearson and he damn well knew it.

"Well, then before we get started, I want to be up-front about everything. I've been on the case for three hours, and I'm already deeply troubled by what I've discovered. I want to hear what you have to say, but no matter how you answer these questions, you're on leave, effective immediately." Tim runs his hand down his face. He had a feeling this might happen. "Also, make sure your girlfriend stays out of my investigation or else. I wouldn't want to jam her up." The tone he uses is threatening and all three men tower over him with angry looks. "Especially with a baby on the way." He adds.

Nolan grabbed Tim before he attacked Pearson for mentioning Hunter and their baby. Grey glowered at Pearson. "Watch what you say about her, if you think we're protective of Hunter Lopez, you've not met her sister, brother in law and Officer Smitty who will do whatever it takes to protect her from cops like you." Pearson gulps. "You don't not threaten my cops in my house. Is that understood?" Pearson nodded. "You will not jam up a cop for something he didn't do either."

Pearson storms out and Grey turned to Tim. "Tim go home. I'll send Hunter with you later but she cannot be involved."

Tim nods. "But you know that I'll just tell her later, right?" He asked.

Grey nods. "Yeah, I do." He replied, he turned to Nolan. "You and Juarez can go on a professional development day." He said, Nolan nods knowing that's not at all what Grey meant.

***

Tim walks out of the interrogation room, seeing Hunter standing waiting for him, she looked tired and Grey and Nolan stepped out. "Didn't I lock you in my office?" Grey asked with a deep frown.

"I picked it and walked out, the compass I used is on your desk, it's one map uses use." Hunter said and the two walked to the lift.

***

Tim and Hunter walked into the lift and Hunter hit the emergency button, stopping the lift giving her and Tim a few moments of peace. "Babe, are you okay?" Hunter wraps her arms around him.

"I am now." Tim whispers out. They both visibly relax.

"I'm gonna ask Grey for a personal day." Hunter said pulling away.

Tim shakes his head. "You're needed here, I'll be fine, I've got Kojo" Hunter laughed and Tim kissed her head. "I love you." He said, Hunter smiled and kissed him before she opened the lift and saw Angela and Nyla standing there, they eyed the two of them in confusion. "Hello."

"Hey, so Hunt, we need you for a UC op." Angela said, not beating around the bush.

"Uh-hu." Hunter shakes her head adamantly. "Send Lucy instead, she's the one that went to UC school, I'm doing UC again, I can't the constant fear and lying, not to mention the danger it poses for my family," Hunter placed a hand unconsciously on her bump. "Something you know Nyla."

Nyla nodded in understanding and she and Angela went to find Lucy who'd gone to UC school a month ago just in case she ever wanted to move to UC work but that wasn't looking likely. Grant had also taken the sergeant's exam and was waiting for his score to come in.

***

Hunter was sitting at a desk in the bullpen, Tim was at home when Grey walked over to her. "We've got something on Pearson." Hunter stands up. "You can't come."

"I'll observe I won't interact, do not make me sit out on this gilipollas/asshole's interrogation." Hunter snapped.

Grey nodded.

***

Grey walked into interrogation while Hunter observed through the Observation window. "Take a seat." Nyla said.

"What is this?"

"Take a seat."

"Do you want to tell us why you accessed the ATL for Andrei Gwarzo?" Angela asked.

"I don't answer to you."

"No, you don't. You answer to Blair London."

"That's why you laid into Nolan when he started looking into Mad Dog, to protect Blair. Same reason you went so hard after Tim."

"Will this line of questioning lead to discipline?" Pearson asked.

"Absolutely." Angela smirked.

"Then I'm not saying another word without my lawyer."

"In that case, you're on administrative leave, effective immediately."

***

Once Pearson was gone Hunter walked into interrogation. "Tim's cleared and we'll inform him tomorrow. Pearson took the case because he was reporting to Blair London. Nolan finally got her to talk. She's scared and wants immunity." Grey said to her.

"Okay, so far so good." Hunter sighed.

Angela smiled at her sister. "Vete a casa hermana, tú y Tim os merecéis una noche agradable y tranquila./Go home sister, you and Tim deserve a nice quiet night in."

"Aquí está la esperanza./Here's hoping." Hunter replied.

"Hey," Hunter turned around to Angela. "¿Cuál es el sexo del bebé?/What's the baby's sex?" She asked.

Hunter smiled. "Es una niña./It's a girl." Hunter walked out of the interrogation room.

***

Hunter sighed as she walked into the house. Tim was on the couch watching reruns of the Monday night football, she sat down on the couch beside him and smiled, looking him over. "What's up?" Tim asked her.

"You know that I love you, don't you?" Hunter asked. Tim nodded. "Good because I do love you. Anyways, you didn't hear this from me but you're being cleared for Mad Dog's death seeing as it was a suicide."

"So, what happened?" Tim asked.

"Turns out Pearson's reporting to Blair," Tim tenses, looking at Hunter. "I know I'm glad neither of us went to see her either." She said.

Tim smiled. "Come on." Tim moved over and Hunter leaned into his chest and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, kissing the top of her head, Hunter looked up at him and smiled. "I love you."

Hunter grinned and the two continued watching the football with Hunter fiddling with her engagement ring but wedding planning was the farthest thing from her mind as was the birth of the baby, she needed to Blair and anyone else involved arrested before any of that crossed her mind.

Some of what was written in here was inspired by 'Cause you're all I need by Chenfordlover13 on Ao3 and it was reworded obviously.

So, Grant's going to be a sergeant, trust me I have a plan.

Also, with Hunter becoming a Detective and then a DS you need to trust the process, I promise.

Turns out there's really strong winds at home so we're hoping things end up being alright and the boat stays safe 'cause it's got to fend for itself.

Hope you enjoy.
