Growing 3
19:50, 4 April 2020Jackson sat down on the grass not really thinking about the fact that it was wet. He sighed looking at the name placed on the tombstone in front of him. He placed down the boutique of sunflowers he had gotten. He went around and plucked out the weed growing out of the sides.
"Hi mom, it's me Jackson again. How are you? How's heaven?"
Jackson took a shaky breath and looked down at the ground.
"Mom, I still can't find him. I've searched everywhere, but I can't find him no matter how hard I try. Maybe I will never be able to find him."
Jackson bitterly chuckled; while picking at some grass on the ground.
"But on a more bright note, I auditioned for JYP and I got in. I'm training under them now. I'm happy that I'm going to be able to make my own music now. I wanted to tell you because I might not be able to come and visit you for a while."
Jackson looked at the flowers and a memory came back to him. He smiled at the bright full memory.
"Mom, do you remember that time when I was like 12 and I gave Mark flowers?"
Jackson chuckled at the memory of his younger self.
It was Jackson's first day of Junior Middle school and Mark's first day of his second year in Junior middle. Jackson stood at the front door of Mark's house waiting for the older to come out. After a bit of waiting Mark stepped out of his house and came into the sight of Jackson walking in circles.
"Good morning Jackson"
At the sound of Mark's voice Jackson jumped and almost dropped the sunflowers in his hands.
"G-Good morning mark. How are you?"
"I'm good and you?"
"I'm good, I'm just waiting for you, so we could walk to school together."
"Ok. Are those flowers for Mina?
Jackson looked down at the flowers in his hand. Mina was Jackson's friend and she was super nice and sweet to him, he knew she had a crush on him, but he didn't like her as more than just a friend.
"What? No! I had actually gotten these for you."
"Really? Why though? I'm sure Mina will like them more, especially sense they're from you."
"I know Mark, but like I told you I don't like her I like someone else."
"Yeah who is this other someone you like by the way? You never tell me who this person is."
"Trust me you don't want to know."
Mark sighed and took the flowers from Jackson's hands. He turned around and opened the door to walk back inside his house. Once Mark was inside his home, Jackson sadly looked at the other males back and whispered a small, "you."
Both boys were in the beginning of their teenage years. Mark was 13; while Jackson was 12. The previous year they had both gone to two different schools and it was hard for them to socialize with other people. With all the pain and loneliness they felt for an entire year, they managed to survive and were now in the same school together again.
They both reach the school gates and once there Mark let go of Jackson's hand he had been holding on their way to school. Jackson felt confused, but decided not to mention it. They both walked side by side making small talk until a boy that looked around the same age as Mark stepped in between them.
"Hey Mark."
"Hello."
Mark smiled fondly at the other boy with them and it made Jackson feel a certain kind of way. He felt really awkward between the two boys until Jackson saw one of his friends. Him and his friend made eye contact and instantly the other boy jogged over to them.
"Hey Jackson."
"Hey man. How are you?"
"I'm good now that I found you. I thought I was going to have to be all alone today."
Jackson laughed at the sight of Namjoon holding his hand on top of where his heart was and dramatically sigh. The two boys were so engrossed in a conversion about rapping that Jackson hadn't noticed that Mark had left with the other boy. Whom he never met.
Jackson sighed and walked with Namjoon to the gymnasium where all students were supposed to go.
After the entrance ceremony students were told to report to certain classes based on their grade level and last name. Jackson received his schedule in that class and his first day of school went by. He had some classes with some people he knew, but none with Mark.
It was the end of the day and Jackson was waiting at the school gates for Mark to come out. He waited and waited, but the older never stepped foot out of the school. It was getting late, so Jackson decided to head home. While walking home by himself, Jackson saw an oddly familiar American sitting at the booth of an ice cream shop.
Jackson stepped a bit closer to get a better look. Once he did he noticed Mark eating ice cream with the boy from earlier. Jackson's vision turned blurry and soon enough tears were coming out of his eyes.
He turned to leave, but before doing so he noticed Mark holding hands with the other boy. Jackson ran and ran home not taking notice of the rain pouring down and the people he had bumped into.
He arrived at his house soaked from the rain and his heart shattered into millions of tiny pieces. That night Jackson walked into his room and didn't come out until the next day.
