Chapter 12: Currents Of The Sea
20:48, 30 September 2018* * *
The morning sun was up. Since it was practically winter times the cherry blossoms weren't blossoms anymore, just another tree without it's leaves. The temperature was very low today, but it was the only thing happening with the weather. It hasn't snowed yet which Kageyama thought was a good thing. He didn't mind the cold at all, he actually prefered winter more than summer but he still didn't like the snow out of obvious reasons.
The team had a little meeting outside before going off to the tournament. The bus was taking them to a big gymnasium with all kinds of volleyball teams, incuding Shiratorizawa and Aoba Johsai. Kageyama knew he would have to battle against his former teamates at some point but he still felt a little on edge. Usually he doesn't like to talk, but before this match he wouldn't talk at all. He didn't even answer at least one of Hinata's random questions, Kageyama was in his own little world the whole ride.
Hinata was very excited like usuall to play volleyball, but still a bit nervous again. This time for the same reason but now it was a real, real match. The little boy started shaking in his seat out of his mixed feelings. Half of the way in, he whispered to Kageyama next to him that he was nervous again but Kageyama just sat there, completely still. Being ignored was one of the worst things Hinata knew, he got mad when Kageyama ignored him so he decided to ignore him back, though Kageyama didn't want his attention so that was pretty pointless.
* * *
The bus started to slow down and Hinata could hear people talk, like from a crowd. He looked out the window to see a lot of people struggling to get to the gym. Hinata swollowed. It looked like an ocean that you could easily get lost in the currents. When the bus finally stopped he tried to reach for the nearest member, tugging to the back of his jacket. Kageyama could feel the little spiker hold onto his jacket, normally he would slap his hand away but he let it slide. He had too much on his mind.
They tried to walk normally trough the crowd but it went over to struggling like the rest. On the bus Hinata and Kageyama sat in the back, so when they got out of the bus they were struggling at the end tail of the Karasuno team. Being so small, Hinata felt like the people around him couldn't exactly see him. He got pushed to the left, stabbed to the right or squashed in the middle. Hinata tried desperately to keep holding on to Kageyama's back, but it got harder when he even stuggled with trying to reach his jacket. He probably were stretching out Kageyama's jacket in order to keep hanging on. Kageyama could feel Hinata holding him so he knew he was still behind him. But suddenly he couldn't feel someone tugging his jacket, Kageyama turned around searching for his spiker, but he was out of sight. Hinata couldn't hold on anymore due to the butt squeezing that kept him from moving forward. He let out a dramatic,
"Noooooooooo...!" As he got sucked into the crowd. Some stabbing and pushing later he then bumped into Nishinoya who also got lost in the crowd.
"Shouyou!" He yelled trying to reach ut to the orange haired spiker. Hinata was stuck once again as he tried to make contact with his friend, but then Nishinoya disapperared into the crowd.
"Noya-senpaaaai!" Hinata was now alone yet again. Lost at sea, if you can call it that.
After a while of being pushed back and forth Hinata didn't give up to find the others. He needed to find his teamates or else he would be lost forever. Okay, lost forever is a little over dramatic but you get it. The crowd must end sometime, he thought. When he closed his eyes he could only see Kageyama for some reason, that's weird. Reaching out for his team he thought but he could only see himself reaching out for Kageyama. He wondered why the tall setter was so down today and then he thought back to the bike incident. The small ginger for some reason really wanted Kageyama to hold him right now, he wanted to be under his big majestic wings. Hinata felt lonely being stabbed to the right and pushed to the left. When the bike incident occurred Kageyama's sudden 'hug' was really comforting, his strong... arms... and pretty... eyes... The ginger immediately tried to erase his thoughts, there's no way that he liked that guy, let alone, there's no way that guy would like him back.
But still.
Kageyama-kun.
Save me.
