Chapter 28
03:46, 25 March 2020Leslie seemed rather annoyed with the thought of what Sean had done to Kim. She banged furiously on his door until he opened it.
"Do I know you?" He asked, rubbing his eyes since it was late and he was tired.
"No you don't, you're lucky you don't."
"What did I do?"
"You're kidding me, right?"
"No, I'm not. What did I do?"
"You slept with Detective Burgess. Do you even have the slightest clue as to what your rookie ass has done?"
"Hey hold on a minute, I'm not rookie."
"The point is you slept with a woman who is engaged."
"It's not like I planned or even wanted it to happen. Like she tried saying, we were drunk and didn't know what we were doing. When people are drunk, they make all kinds of stupid mistakes. I'm sure you would know."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me."
Out of nowhere, she slapped him clear across the face.
"What was that for?!"
"So help me god if you EVER touch Burgess like that again, I'll kill you."
"I wasn't-"
"Don't even try telling me that it won't happen again. I know for a fact that it won't happen again because if it does, you don't want to know what I'll do to you."
He swallowed hard.
"Do I make myself clear?"
"Crystal."M
Anger was still welling up inside her and when she got outside, she punched the wall.
"Hey slow your roll there." Kelly ran up to her and wrapped his sweatshirt around her hand. Her face was flushed red and she wanted to scream.
"Who did you beat up now?" He laughed.
"Almost Sean." She told him as he secured it on her hand.
"What did he do this time?"
"Did you hear that he put the moves on Burgess?"
"He did what?"
"Shhh!" She slammed her good hand over his mouth.
"Sorry...but he did what?"
"He had sex with her. He claims he was drunk and I'm not sure whether to believe him or not."
"Of course you should believe him. He's at Molly's like every night chatting it up with Hermann. Ask Hermann yourself and he'll dish."
"Did you just say he'll 'dish' the deal to me?" She tried not laugh.
"This is what happens when you have a teenage sister who tries teaching you slang."
"Your sister is trying to teach you to be cool? HA. Good luck with that one."
"She's the sister who doesn't beat the daylights out of her big bro."
"Katie could beat the crap out of you any day of the week." Leslie scoffed as she began to walk away.
"You need to have your hand cleaned and sterilized."
"Since when have you been Will Halstead?"
"You know what I mean. I'll help you clean it up."
"This better not be an invitation to have sex with you."
"Come on." He swung an arm over her shoulder as they walked to his house.
"Ouch! Be careful!" Leslie winced, as the rubbing alcohol was being rubbed into her wounds.
"You're fine. You've dealt with worse. You are a paramedic after all."
She rolled her eyes at him.
"You know you love me." He joked as he was wrapping a bandage around her hand.
Her phone started going off, the caller i.d. read that it was Kim. She glanced over at it, hoping Kelly wouldn't notice her wandering eyes.
"Don't even think about it." He told her without looking up. When he was done, she snatched up her phone and ran into the bathroom to answer it.
"Hey Kim, what's up?"
"Kelly told me you flipped crap at Roman."
"Yeah...I kinda hit him."
"You what?"
"He slapped himself with my hand."
"Oh really now?"
"He just kinda walked into it. He made me bleed, too."
"No he didn't! She punched a brick wall!" Kelly shouted.
"I'm on the phone!" Leslie yelled back at him.
"Still punching walls I hear." Kim laughed.
"Hush."
"I just wanted to call and check to make sure you were okay."
"I'm just dandy. I have bruised knuckles and possibly a few broken fingers. But yeah, I'm A okay."
"Good. Tell Severide I said to stay out of your business. If you know what I mean."
"I already told him I'd kick him in the fire hose if he even tried. I'm safe."
"Alright, night." Kim set her phone down on the end table and turned the TV off.
Before she headed into bed, she went into the nursery to check on the twins. Brayden was swaddled in his blanket and was clinging to his little pillow. Hannah on the other hand, was sleeping covered up in her blanket. She hated being swaddled and every time she was, the blanket would either end up on the floor or halfway across the room. She looked at both of them and thought, this was it, this was the reason she was here. As she left the room, she looked back and smiled to herself.
