Chapter 29
03:46, 25 March 2020The next morning, Kim was running late to work. Nadia hadn't shown up yet, so she was beginning to worry. Then Nadia called her and said she was stuck in traffic, but she would be there soon. She looked out and when she saw Nadia's car pull in, she opened the door to leave.
"Hello, Kim." A man with shaggy hair said. He had a heavy Latin accent. She tried backing up, but he was following her at too close of a proximity for her liking.
"Get away from me!" She yelled, pulling her gun out. He knocked the gun out of her hands and pinned her on the floor.
"You are going to come with me if you want to live. Got it, detective?"
"Who are you?"
"You don't remember me? Well good. It's better if you don't." He knocked her out and tied her hands behind her back.
After he threw her in the back of his van, he placed a piece of duct tape over mouth to keep from screaming. When he caught sight of Nadia he peeled out of there.
"Kim?" Nadia knocked on the door. There was no answer, so she waited a couple minutes and knocked again. After several knocking attempts, she put her key in and walked inside. The house was a mess. A gun with blood on the handle was lying on the floor, a few chairs had been knocked over and there were scuff marks on the wall. She whipped her phone out and dialed 911. While she waited for the police to arrive, she ran into the nursery. Both babies were sound asleep in their cribs. Nadia locked every single window and door in the house while she waited for the police. When there was a loud bang at the door she jumped.
"Police, open up!"
Nadia was shaking as she answered the door.
"Officer Bob Ruzek." He said.
Backup arrived as he was questioning her about the incident. Soon after, Intelligence arrived. Not many of them knew where they lived, so they were shocked to find out.
"What happened?!" Adam was yelling, trying to push past his father and Hank.
"Son, calm down." Bob told him, resting his hands on his shoulders.
"No I will not calm down!" He yelled.
"Son, yelling isn't going to help the fact."
"Do you not understand what's happened?! My fiancée and the mother of my children is missing! I'm not gonna stay calm! I'm not resting until I find out where she is and who the hell took her!"
"Please don't think is my fault." Nadia pleaded when she sat next to Adam on the couch.
"You weren't even here."
"I called the police as soon as I saw the destruction. When I saw it, I knew something was wrong. I called out her name and heard no answer. Before I walked in, I knocked and waited out in the hallway for a bit. Whenever I come over, she almost instantly answers."
"That's good, you did the right thing."
"I'll stay here with the kids if you want. So you guys can go out and look for her."
"Please tell me nothing happened to them."
"I don't think the abductor even knew they were here."
"Thanks, I gotta go."
Someone came rushing in and over to Hank.
"Are you sergeant Voight?"
"Who wants to know?" He answered.
"I have a note for you."
The guy handed Hank the note and then took off.
"Tenemos su detective. Si alguna vez quieres volver a verla, usted tiene que encontrar nosotros. Salimos sin rastro de nosotros mismos, así que buena suerte . Usted dispondrá de cuarenta ocho horas o ella muere." The note read.
"Antonio, translate this for us." He handed the note to Antonio.
"It says 'We have your detective. If you ever want to see her again, you have to find us. We left no trace of ourselves, so good luck. You have forty eight hours or she dies.'"
"Are you f-" Adam began.
"Watch it." Erin told him.
"Wait a second, I know that handwriting." Sheldon said. Antonio handed him the note.
"Who's is it?" Alvin asked.
"I saw it on a box one time. A box we found in the old apartment Pulpo used to rent out. You guys remember him?"
"He kidnapped my son. Who could forget someone like that?" Antonio said.
"Do you think he might have some sort of a connection to Diana and Andrew?" Jay suggested.
"He damn well could." Hank said.
"Well what are we waiting for? Every second we're wasting here talking, there's more likely a chance that she is closer to death. Let's get going!"
"Who the hell died and made you boss of the unit?" Jay crossed his arms and lifted an eyebrow.
"Don't even start with me, Jay." Erin rolled her eyes as she walked past him and out the door.
The driver looked over at Kim.
"How ya doing, sweetheart?" He asked sarcastically.
Her scowl was deep. "Don't freaking call me that you low life piece of scum!"
"I suggest you cooperate with me sweetheart. That is unless you want your head to be removed from your body."
"What do you want from me?!"
"Your sergeant there, he owes me a great debt."
"What kind of debt do you mean?"
"A while back, he was in prison for being a dirty cop. I paid his debt so he could get out. It's been three years since then and it's time for him to pay me back. Until I get that money, I'm keeping you with me."
"Let me go. I'll give you the money."
"I doubt you can get me a hundred thousand dollars, sweet cheeks."
"A hundred thousand?!"
"You got it."
"Where is he going to get that kind of money?!"
"He's got a safe in the basement of his house with millions in it."
"But that's his money."
"He has forty eight hours to fork it over, or you die."
"WHAT?!"
"Not only will you die, but your man there, he'll die too."
"What did he ever do to you?! Just leave us alone!"
"I'll leave you alone as soon as I get that money in my hands. When I do, you'll be free to go and you'll never hear from me again."
