Chapter 27
17:13, 30 November 2025I wanna go home.
These were the first words ringing in her mind when her eyes opened. She moved her hands, her body was fine now. She didn't have any injuries. She can just go now. Her eyes were glued to the ceiling as if it would answer all her questions.
She looked to the side, the room was probably part of the infirmary. It had another bed but that was empty and a window showing that it was almost sunset. She sighed again, "It's time to go home."
She sat up her hands on either side, her arms straight. She hung her head back as tears welled up.
This sucks.
Tenko's face flashed in front of her eyes.
A portal to go home. She put her legs down the bed then looked at her hand. "Home."
She imagined her room. That was where she was right before she got to this world. Her hand glitched and a small dot in the space in front of her slowly materialized before increasing.
Sweat went down her forehead as she let out another shaky breath. Yes, it's time to end this. She wasn't any part of this. She had her world, her life. Keira closed her eyes. She missed her family, she missed her friends. The portal increased in size until it was the size of her head.
Her hand clutched her chest as she lost focus. Sharp pain had went through her chest and she could hear her heartbeat louder. Her forehead had broke out into a cold sweat.
I suggest that you don't use your quirk for a while. It might not be very safe for your health._
She breathed with difficulty sitting back on the bed. The portal which had opened was closing slightly and Keira's eyes widened as she caught a glimpse of what was behind.
Her breath hitched. The bed, the posters. My room.._
Her lips pursed as she she held back the tears before she reached out quickly throwing herself at the portal only to pass right through it yelping as she fell on the bed behind it.
She took a breath processing what she just saw. It's my room, I can actually go back. A laugh escaped her before she turned quickly her breath heavy. She raised her hand slowly imagining it again. Her hand glitched this time and she gritted through the pain in her chest. It's fine.
"It's fine." She muttered to herself, "I can go back"
Was the sweating on her forehead normal? It didn't matter to her. She could just go back to where she belonged and all of this will be just a dream.
A dot again appeared in the air in front of her before widening into a portal. "Come on!" She shouted when the portal stopped increasing in size.
Her other hand clutched her chest as her breathing grew louder. Her hand glitched more but she didn't care.
I'm going home now. Right now._
She could feel the glitching and she focused more and then, it started spreading. Her hand, along her arms. Her eyes widened, her breathing quickening, she tried to control it. The portal wasn't increasing and she had a bad feeling about how her body was reacting. Now that the fear snapped her out of whatever thoughts she was having, she found herself noticing the effects happening.
Should I just continue?
She hesitated and the glitching freaked her out. She closed her hand and dropped it to her side. The portal fizzled out immediately. The glitching also calmed down gradually before her arm returned to normal.
She let out a breath.
Her head snapped up to the sound of the opening door before seeing the figure at the door. She blinked processing the sight that greeted her.
A talking.. mouse? Keira faltered raising an eyebrow slightly.
"I can see your thoughts on your face. Am I a mouse, a dog, a bear? All you need to know is that I'm the principal!" He smiled entering the room.
She did see him in the anime but seeing it in front of her.. that was something.
"Already up Nishimura? How are you?" He walked to the bed in front of her. "It must've been very scary encountering villains. But not to worry-" She startled when he jumped on the bed, his tiny legs shaking a bit to propel him before he plopped on it facing her. "-everything's under control now."
Keira's lips were pursed before she smiled politely. Yes that is the right thing to do right? Smile at the talking animal who is a super smart high IQ principal..
"The villains had an advantage because of the rare quirk one of their members possessed. Teleportation." He smiled at her. She had an idea where this was going. "We're very lucky that we have one of our own students with a similar quirk."
She fidgeted. "I see"
"I would love to learn more about your quirk but for now, recovery comes first. Physically and mentally." Sensible teacher, she thought as she tried to recall any scenes with him. "There are some things we might need your help with in the future. Of course, this will not compromise your safety and we can talk to your parents about this. For now, you can focus on recovering from this and if you need any help don't hesitate to reach out to us."
"Thank you principal." She cleared her throat legs twitching. She hoped that was it for now.
"Now on to the second point." Of course that's not all of it. His smile widened a bit, his eyes closing, his next question making her grimace. "Why were you in the USJ at that time? You are part of the general department and yet the general department students were in the main building at the time."
The air turned slightly colder although his face was still smiling. She was reminded slightly of her school days when she got caught for skipping class. "That is.. I wanted to see the hero classes. I want to transfer so this was like a-" she gulped as she weighted the next words in her mouth, "-field trip."
If a pin had dropped at that moment, you would have heard it. She just admitted to sneaking into their class. Although with this excuse being a hero she should be out of suspicion, right? She looked at his calculating face. But then her eyes widened, eyebrows going up.
...What is that expression? Gleeful?
"I see." The moment was done and the air felt lighter, "Well, rest for now Nishimura. The next time we sit, I'll have some tea and crackers ready." Before she could nod, he had already plopped off of the bed. He glanced at her one more time with a slight smile that gave away nothing before sliding the door shut behind him.
She let out a breath. If there was unlimited crackers and tea, I still wouldn't want another sitting like this, she stared at the spot where he was, that was nerve-wracking.
