Chapter 35

3 days passed and Alec has completely ignored the existence of Robert and he was working with Hayley to dig deeper into the case. But so far they haven’t found any luck about what was going on. Magnus was busy preparing with all the new projects and had meetings all day long. 

“Si were you able to find the data files” Alec asked on the phone

“Alec, it’s not as easy as you think…I’m still a junior and it’s pretty hard to even go into the data room. Give me a few more days, I’ll try my best…” Simon replied.

“Okay…I’m sorry to keep bothering you…”

“That’s fine bro” Simon said “I have some other info I found though…”

“What is it?” 

“I just found a dashcam footage near Mr. Bane's house…the day before he agreed…3 men had visited him…but I couldn’t ID any of them…they were wearing masks…”

“So you think that dad was threatened?”

“My gut feeling says so…I’m not sure…they might be his men as well…you know he does have connections…”

“I’ll tell Magnus about this…”

“Hmm…I’ll try to look more into it…”

“Thanks man” 

“By the way…will you come to the party tomorrow?”

“Which party?”

“Raph’s promotion party…”

“Oh dang!! I forgot all about it…we’ll be there…”

“Okay see you then…”

After the call Alec rushed to Magnus’s room, but Magnus was in a discussion with Aline and Nora so Alec sat on the couch and waited for him. 

“Yes baby? Any news?” Magnus asked as soon as the girls left.

Alec sighed and turned to face Magnus. 

“What is it? Is it serious?”

“No Magnus…I called Si, he couldn’t get the info yet but he told me about something else…”

“The day before dad agreed to the contract…there were 3 men wearing mask in front of your house…but Si said that he couldn’t find who they were but he said he’ll try…”

“So do you think dad was…” Magnus paused clenching his fists.

“We don’t know about that yet…”

“I’m going to ask him now...” Magnus said standing up.

“Are you nuts? You said that we need to stay quiet about this…” Alec said grabbing Magnus’s arm. “Let’s just try to find more about this until then let’s try to stay calm…”

“Hmm…”

Magnus sat down and hugged Alec. “I want this to end quickly…this is so stressful for both of us…”

“I know baby…I want the same…” Alec said caressing Magnus’s back.

Right then Simon called Alec.

“Yes Si?” he answered.

“Alec…I was able to ID one person…but I don’t want you to get involved…I have a few friends who can help…I’ll get some help from them…”

“But Si…we need to know why they were there…”

“No Alec both of you should stay safe…have you forgotten what happened last time?” Simon said in a very authoritative tone which silenced Alec.

“Okay…fine…but let us know as soon as you find anything…”

“Sure” he said and kept the phone.

“What is it?” Magnus asked

“They found one of the guys”

“Wow that’s fast…”

“but he doesn’t want us to be involved…he said that he would let us know”

“Hmmm…let’s wait and see”
