CHAPTER 36

2 more days passed and there was no news from the NYPD yet. The project with Roberts company has started, but still they were clueless about what was going on. 

Hayley had tried her best to find what Robert was up to but it was all a failure. There was nothing they could find. They couldn’t even find how or why Valentine left the company.

“Magnus I’ve been thinking about something…” Alec said during dinner.

“What is it baby?”

“Remember Patrick?” Alec asked

“The rep from Robert’s company?” 

“Yeah…so I was thinking of talking to him…I feel like he might have answers…and I can easily approach him”

“Baby do you think that’s a good idea? What if he tells Robert?”

Alec sighed “I’ll have to make sure that it doesn’t happen that way…”

“Okay then…let’s try to talk with him, when are we meeting him?”

“Mags, I should do this alone…”

“What? Why?” Magnus asked confused.

“Do you think he’ll say anything if you go with me? I just want to make sure he speaks the truth with me…he’s a very straightforward man so I think I can make him talk…”

Magnus thought for a few seconds.

“Okay then…but I’ll tag along where ever you go and I’ll stay outside…”

Alec nodded.

Alec took out his phone.

“Hello Uncle Patrick? It’s Alec”

“Alec, how did you get my number? Did I give it to you?” he asked.

“I got it from a colleague…”

“Any specific reason to suddenly call me?”

“Uhmm…yes, I did call you for a reason”

“What is it Alec?”

“I need to talk to you about something…and it’s pretty urgent”

“You can ask me anything Alec”

“I can’t explain everything on the phone…can we meet up?”

“Sure” he replied without hesitation.

“How about tomorrow during lunch? At the cafe opposite to our company?”

“Sure Alec…I’ll be there”

“Thank you uncle Patrick” Alec said and kept the phone.

He inhaled deeply and slowly exhaled. “It’s set…now it’s up to me…” he said turning to Magnus.

Magnus smiled “You’ll be fine…just get straight to the point with him and get as much information as possible” he said kissing Alec on the cheek.

Alec nodded and smile. 

“Now, let’s take a good night’s sleep” Magnus said standing behind Alec and putting both his hand on Alec’s shoulders.

Alec got hold of Magnus’s hands and pulled him closer now their cheeks touching each other. Alec turned and kissed Magnus on the cheek. “Let’s go” he said and both of them walked to their room and closed the door behind them.

Next day a few minutes before lunch hour Alec came into Magnus office.

“Hey baby, let’s leave in a few minutes okay?” Magnus said and Alec nodded. Alec looked very nervous.

“Alexander come here for a minute” Magnus said standing up.

Alec walked to Magnus’s desk.

“Now sit here” Magnus said making Alec sit on his chair.

“Mags what if someone sees me sitting on the Director’s chair”

“Don’t worry baby…you are my fiancé and you have all the right to sit here…” Magnus said turning the chair around.

Magnus put his hands on Alec’s shoulders and massaged them. “Pretty stiff…you need to relax baby…don’t be nervous okay” Magnus said while massaging Alec’s shoulders.

Alec sighed “I don’t know…what he doesn’t want to tell anything…”

“Let’s not think too much before you meet him…I’ll be right outside so don’t worry okay”

Magnus kept massaging for a few minutes.

“Feeling better?” he asked.

“Hmm…much better…thank you baby…” Alec replied with a smile.

“Let’s get going” Magnus said and both of the left the office.

*************Magnus was outside the café in his car and Alec went inside.

Alec sat at a table in the corner of the café and waited for Patrick to arrive. After few minutes Alec saw Patrick waking from the door and waved at him with a smile. Patrick waved back and walked to Alec.

“It’s so good to see you again Alec” Patrick said patting on Alec’s shoulder and sitting opposite to Alec. 

“You too uncle Patrick” 

Alec then remembered what Magnus asked him to do. ‘Remember to record your convo, just in case we need it…’ Alec took out his phone hit the record button and kept it on his lap.

“So what did you want to talk about?” he asked

“It’s something serious…and I really need you to answer me honestly…” Alec said with a serious expression “It’s about my dad’s company”

Patrick’s smile faded away “What do you need to know Alec?” he said in a serious tone.
