CHAPTER 31

“Hayley why didn’t you tell me the contractors changed and it was Robert’s company?” Magnus asked slamming the door shut in his office room.

“I’m sorry Magnus, we were not informed about this either…the two companies had come to a mutual agreement and have decided on the change…” Hayley said.

“Alec is supposed to be in charge of the project, I’ll change it…”

“Yes…Alexander can’t know about this…he just recovered and I don’t want him to go back to one…” Magnus said sitting down. “Hayley can you bring me the files please?” 

Hayley nodded and brought a pile of files.

“I’ll ask Helen for help…you can go and check on the other meeting…” Magnus said.

Hayley nodded and left the room.

“Helen, I need you to help me with something…I have mailed you a document can you check if it’s an original?” Magnus said “Okay thank you…” he said and kept the phone.

His head was about to explode. He couldn’t understand how Robert’s company was approved to work with them. He was sure that it was not him he gave the approval and of course it was not Helen as she was on vacation with Aline.

Who accepted them? Magnus thought while looking through the files to find the documents.

“Dad?” he said when he finally found it. He was confused at the same time furious with Asmodeus.

He didn’t understand why he would interfere with the project which he was supposed to be in charge on.

He quickly dialled to his father.

“I know why you called Magnus…but before shouting at me listen to what I have to say…” Asmodeus said as soon as he picked the call. “It’s better to meet and talk…I’ll send you the location…”  

“But dad…” he tried to interrupt.

“No buts…I’m doing this for you and Alec…so you better behave yourself when you come today…”

************************“Son, you are here…come sit down” Asmodeus signalled Magnus to sit.

“I can’t wait for long dad, Alexander is home alone and he’s not doing well so I need to go…better give me the explanation quickly…” Magnus said sitting down.

“What’s wrong with Alec?” asked a familiar voice from behind. Magnus turned to see Robert standing behind him.

“What is he doing here?” he said raising his voice. “Alexander is sick all because of you…” he shouted.

“Magnus I told you to behave yourself today…” Asmodeus said “Come sit down Mr. Lightwood” 

Robert nodded and sat down.

Asmodeus noticed how uncomfortable Robert was because Magnus was glaring at him, so he cleared his throat.

“Dad make it quick, I need to leave…” Magnus said “I don’t want to see this man’s face”

“Magnus!! Show some respect he is going to be your father-in-law…” Asmodeus said and Magnus rolled his eyes.

“Magnus, I asked you to come today to explain what actually happened with Mr. Lightwoods company…it was not his fault…” he said and ow Magnus was listening attentively.

“Mr. Lightwood’s partner left the business and I know that you have already did the background checking and know what has happened…” 

Magnus nodded looking at Robert. 

“Mr. Lightwood has come to me before…but I was not able to help him, but this time considering your relationship with Alec…I did what I can to help his business…to save it from bankruptcy…”

“But dad that’s…” Magnus couldn’t finish the sentence.

“No buts Magnus…stop digging deep into this and stop with all your suspects about Mr. Lightwood…I have taken care of everything with regards to his business…” Asmodeus said standing up and stopped Magnus from trying to speak once again “Magnus, about the family problems that’s personal and Alec should take care of it…I only wanted to help him with his business…” he said and walked away not letting Magnus to question his decisions.

Magnus was stunned for a few seconds and he looked at Robert. Magnus stood up and turned to walk away.

“Magnus!” Robert called him stopping him from leaving. “What’s wrong with Alec?” he asked.

“I don’t think you need to know about him” Magnus said without turning to face Robert and stormed out of the room.
