Chapter 29

After crying for a long while Alec was finally in bed. As soon as Alec fell asleep Magnus took out the bottle of pills and called their family doctor.

“Dr. Dorethea I need some urgent help” Magnus said on the phone.

“Yes Magnus?” 

“Can you check the pills and the description I just sent you…I want to know what kind of effects it has…”

“Give me a few minutes” she replied

“Thank you doc” Magnus said and kept the phone.

After few minutes of waiting Magnus received the mail. He opened the mail and was shocked for a few seconds. He read it twice to make sure that he got it right.

Then he received a call from Dorethea. 

“Magnus…Who’s taking this drug?”

“It’s Alec…”

“Magnus this is not a Vitamin…I have sent you all the details…This is not something a doctor would prescribe…this drug has so many side effects and if you get addicted it is hard to stop…you’ll understand once you read it…”

“I did read it doc…” Magnus said with tears in his eyes.

“Magnus try to stop Alec from taking them…do it as soon as possible…” she said in a very serious tone.

“I will…Thank you Doctor” Magnus said and kept the phone, then he stood up, he suddenly felt weak in his legs and stumbled on the chair…shaking his head and touching his forehead to think straight he walked to his bed and sat next to Alec.

“Alexander…why didn’t you tell me?” Magnus said in a low voice with tears in his eyes. He caressed Alec’s head and lay a few kisses on his forehead. 

Alec still asleep unconsciously put his arms around Magnus and pulled him into his arms. Alec rested his head on Magnus chest.

“What are you doing still awake? Is your arm still hurting?” Alec asked in a sleepy tone looking at Magnus with half opened eyes.

“No baby…I’m fine…go to sleep…I’m fine” Magnus said trying to hold back his tears.

He wrapped his arms around Alec and cuddled him to sleep. He was silently crying all night thinking about Alec, how he must have felt for the past few days…and how hurt and stressed he must have been to take those drugs to make him forget all his worries.

Next morning Magnus woke up early and waited for Alec to wake up so he could talk things out with him.

“Alexander…you’re awake…” Magnus said as he saw Alec walking into the kitchen.

“Hmm…” Alec replied

“I made your favourite waffles with strawberries and cream” Magnus said giving him his plate.

Alec smiled and started to dig in.

“Alexander…I…uh I need to talk to you about something…”

“Okay”

Magnus smiled and waited for Alec to finish his breakfast.

“What do you want to talk about Mags?” Alec asked.

“It’s about this” Magnus said showing him the bottle of pills.

“Mags I told you they are vitamins…”

“Alexander! I know what these are…I asked and searched about it and now I know”

“So what? What do you want me to say…do you want to break up now that I’m not in my right mind?”

“NO Alexander no…never…I will never leave you” Magnus said holding his hand “I’m not mad at you baby…I’m just so worried…you know that you can talk to me about anything right…I will never leave you and I will never judge you…I want you to open up to me and talk about what you feel…” Magnus said with tears in his eyes.

Alec was silent.

“These drugs are changing you in a bad way baby…can you stop taking them please?” 

Alec was still silent.

Magnus came closer and hugged him. “Baby…I understand what you are going through…I know I can’t completely relate to your pain…but I promise you…we will get through this together…I will never leave your side Alexander…I will never let you go through this alone…” Magnus said while caressing Alec’s back.

Alec’s eyes were filled with tears. He pulled back and looked at Magnus.

“I don’t know Mags…I feel more relaxed when I take them and I like it…I forget all about Robert and work…I feel relieved…”

“I know baby…but now it’s starting to make you forget about yourself too…Please you need to stop using them…” Magnus said touching Alec’s cheeks.

“I’ll try” Alec said.

“We can get through this together, you can talk to me about everything okay?” 

“Mags I don’t understand how to handle my feelings…I want to trust Robert but at the same time I can’t trust him…my heart wants one thing but my brain wants another…what should I do Mags…what should I choose?” Alec started to crying aloud.

Magnus hugged him and caressed his head and his back trying to calm Alec down. Magnus didn’t know what to say. He just comforted Alec and held him in his arms.
