Walking into the school, her biological mother's cardigan wrapped around her, memories from the last time she was at the school flashed through Lucy's head. It had been on Friday night, which meant she had been given the weekend to relax and heal. If doing either of those things were even possible.

She had barely talked to Scott over the weekend. She felt bad giving him the cold shoulder once she heard about him and Allison taking a break, but she was still confused and hurt. Her brother had locked them in there, giving them no way to escape.

Hours after they had gotten home, during the night, Lucy had gone into Scott's room and hugged him tighter than she ever had before. She loved her brother, and she was beyond thankful that he was alive and okay. But her hurt and his lies were beginning to drive a wedge between them.

Taking a deep breath, Lucy opened her locker. She grabbed her books, hugging them to her chest as she looked around the hall. Unlike Friday night, it was full of life. Her classmates and other students were everywhere, chatting and walking around each other.

Last time it was quiet and scary. Now it was loud and annoying. It was completely normal.

Lucy had wanted to dress comfortably today, but that's what she did last time. Last time. So, she decided to put herself together today. She put on her everyday blue jeans and her mom's old beige cardigan. She put on mascara, concealer, blush, and lip gloss. And then she took it a step further when she curled her hair and tied some of it back with a black bow.ย

To anyone who looked at her, Lucy looked normal. But inside she knew, it was all just a mask to hide her fear.

Walking into her first period, Lucy took a seat next to Allison. They hadn't talked since that night, but Lucy still cared for her friend. Even if she broke up with her brother.

"Hi," Lucy whispered, watching Stiles walk in. She looked away from him as soon as their eyes locked.

"Hey," Allison glanced up from her notebook. "Did Scott tell you?"

Lucy nodded. "My mom did. I've kinda been avoiding Scott. I mean I'm so happy he's alive, but nothing is adding up."

"I know! I really like your brother, but what is going on?"

"I have no idea. But I'm going to find out. Hopefully."

Allison nodded in agreement just as Scott entered the room. He ran up to Allison's desk, trying to speak to her. Like Lucy, Allison ignored him.

"Mr. McCall, please take a seat." Mr. Harris said, intervening on the awkward situation in the front of the classroom.

Lucy smiled sympathetically at Allison who sighed with relief. Scott was a hard person to ignore, which Lucy knew from experience.

"You have forty-five minutes to complete the test. Twenty-five percent of your grade can be earned right now simply by writing your name on the cover of the blue book." Lucy did as she was instructed, not wanting her grade to drop by a lot just because she forgot to write her name." However, as happens every year, one of you will inexplicably fail to put your name on the cover and I'll be left yet again questioning my decision to ever become a teacher. So, let's get the disappointment over with. Begin."

Not even two minutes into the exam, Scott ran past Allison and Lucy and bolted from the room.

"Scott?" Lucy called, furrowing her eyebrows.

"Mr. McCall?" Mr. Harris asked, shorting calling for Stiles after he followed after his best friend.

Lucy and Allison shared a look, knowing that Scott and Stiles were hiding something big from everyone. Lucy was still determined to figure out what, but she wasn't exactly sure how to do so.

Perhaps she'd have to do what girls did best: stalking and spying.

Lydia, Allison, and Lucy stood in the halls by their lockers, waiting for the next bell to ring. Lydia was trying to convince the girls to still come to practice, just like they always did. Allison was unsure, given her relationship with Scott or rather, the lack thereof. Lucy, on the other hand, thought it might be a good start for her plan. After all, she would need to keep a close eye on Scott and Stiles for it to work.

"Hey, Lydia? Can we talk for a second?" Scott asked, only sparing Allison a glance.

"Sure. See you guys at lunch." The strawberry-blonde led Scott into Coach's office, leaving the other two girls alone.

"Do you think I made a mistake?" Allison asked, playing with the ends of her hair. "Coming from someone who really knows him?"

"No, I love Scott, but what he did was so reckless. You have to do what's best for you, Allison."

The Argent nodded. "So, what do we do now?"

"I'm going to follow them. See what they're always doing together." Lucy said. "But I'll keep you updated, I promise."

"Okay." Allison smiled gratefully. "Should we go wait for Lydia on the field?"

"Probably should. It is a tradition, after all." The girls linked arms as they walked out towards the field. They found good seats in the stands, using their bags to save a seat for their friend.

It didn't take long for Lydia to find them, sitting down just as practice started. Lucy's eyes widened when she saw Lydia's smudged lipstick. She must've been with Jackson before she sat down. But when she looked down at the pitch, the only boy not out there was her brother, who was just now getting his equipment on.

"Hey," Lucy nudged her friend, an uneasy feeling in her stomach. "Your lipstick."

"Oh!" Lydia gasped, seeing her reflection in her pocket mirror. "Thanks." She fixed it quickly but missed a spot in the corner.

Shortly into practice, Scott knocked out one of his teammates. Nearly everyone from the stands ran out onto the grass, including the girls. The uneasy feeling grew in Lucy's stomach when Jackson commented on the lipstick smudge with a glare.

Lucy and Allison shared a look, knowing who Lydia had been with before practice.ย

"Let's just go," Lucy whispered, pulling Allison away from everyone.

After Allison reassured her that she was okay several times, Lucy finally made it home. Just like she promised Allison, she was going to follow the boys tonight. Scott had promised Melissa that he would be home before she went to work, so Lucy was hiding in her room.ย

She had told Scott in the parking lot after school that she had plans with Allison tonight. Her mother thought she had already left, because Allison was picking her up, so no one knew she was hiding in her room.

Knowing she might be in there for a while before she had to chase them down, she dressed in a comfortable hoodie and sweatpants.

Lucy heard her mother call out for Scott, only to be answered by Stiles. They were both going to be here? This was going even better than Lucy had imagined.

Nearly an hour went by before Scott came back. Lucy stayed quiet in her room as she listened to the boys bicker in Scott's room. She heard something rattle, something like chains? No, that couldn't be right. She stood up from her desk, leaving her car keys there as she moved towards her door. She sat with her ear pressed to her door, listening closely.ย

Footsteps went by and it was quiet for a few moments before they went by again, heading towards Scott's room. She could hear voices again and then a howl. It sounded like her brother was in pain. What were they doing?

Lucy's blood ran cold when she heard Scott howl in agony again and again. She jumped off her floor and opened her door, stepping out into the hallway. Stiles was sitting in the hallway, his back against the wall next to Scott's open door. His lips parted and his eyes widened when he realized Lucy was home.

"Stiles?" Lucy crossed her arms as she stepped forward. "Why is my brother screaming?"

"I- I don't know-" Another howl came from her brother's room.

"Stiles!" Lucy got closer. "What is going on?" She demanded. The teenage boy jumped up, blocking her from getting closer to her brother's room.

"Listen, you can't go in there."

"I'll do what I want in my home, Stiles. My brother is screaming in pain and all you're doing is sitting out here! I'm so tired of being so confused all of the time. Something is going on with you two and I'm going to figure out what it is!" She tried to push past Stiles, but he grabbed her waist and pushed her back towards her room.

"Lucy, I appreciate the confidence, but I can't let you in there."

That was the last straw for the Evans girl. She stepped back from Stiles, watching his eyes fill with relief that she was stopping. Then she pulled her arm back and punched him in the face. She didn't waste any time as Stiles threw his head back with a groan, blood dripping from his nose.ย

She ran past him, successfully this time, and made it to the end of the hall where her brother's room was.

Nothing could have prepared her for what she was going to see in there. Seeing Scott, her older brother, like that would be forever engraved in her mind. Like a nightmare come true.

He was tied up with handcuffs on his floor, a bowl of water next to him. He was laying on his floor, claw marks everywhere next to him. His eyes glowed yellow and he had grown hair along his cheeks. His nose looked different, but not in a good way. He had claws growing from all of his fingers. And he smiled when he saw her fear, showing off his fangs.

She didn't even think about how she might wake up the entire neighborhood. Lucy didn't know what else to do besides scream.ย

So that's what she did.
