Chapter 4

01:09, 23 January 2023

Kat's P.O.V.

DURING THE NIGHT the only thing I was doing was driving around and occasionally finding someone I could feed on. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Although, when I finally got out of my own little world residing in my head, the loud noise of police sirens in the distance filled my ear. Couldn't be that bad. I thought, than after a couple of minutes I took off with a sigh.

Within minutes I found myself outside of a repair shop, police cars surrounding the area, so you could say I had my reasons to not go anywhere near. I stayed in the shadows, out of sight. Even though I was still curios so I started listening.

"I told you I... Just walked in, and I saw the Jeep on top of the guy. That's all." My eyes slightly went wide when I heard Stiles voice. I leave you for a couple of hours and you immediately witness another murder...? Poor kid...

"What's wrong with your hand?" asked another voice, who I assumed was an officer at first, but then I realized it was the older Stilinski. With his hand...? And that doesn't sound good either...

"Nothing. Can I just get out of here now?"

"Look, if there's something you don't think you can tell me..." I could hear the worry in his voice.

"You think I'm lying?"

"No, of course not. I'm just worried about you." and that was when a bittersweet smile found it's way to my lips. "Now, if you saw someone do this, and if you're afraid that maybe they're gonna come back, and make sure you don't say anything about it..."

"I didn't see anything." he was definitely lying, I think the sheriff was also aware of that "At all. Can I go now please?"

"Sure. But not in your Jeep. We're gonna have to impound it. Sorry kid, evidence. I'll see you at home." I let out a quite sigh and after that I used my speed again to got back into Derek's lair.

For my luck the idiotic wolf was at home, but instead of being inside he was just standing outside staring at the moonlight.

"What's up, D?" I asked while skipping closer and when I reached him I stood beside him.

"Thinking."

"As talkative as ever, I see." I leaned my back on the wall placing my right foot on, while crossing my arms in front of my chest. "I have some not-so-great news you can also think about..." I said not even looking at him, but at the sky. I could sense that his head snapped in my direction, looking at me with curious and wide eyes. When I didn't bother to continue he let out an exaggerated sigh, I pursed my lips to control myself, not letting a smile appear on my lips, nor I laugh escape it.

"Go on. Don't piss me off." he motioned with his hands for my to continue but I just smiled at him. "Please."

"Aw, good job, little wolf." I said it with a voice that you would use on a little puppy when they accomplice a new task the first time when training it. Just as the sentence left my mouth I felt his hands, hitting me on the arm. I wasn't the fact that it hurt, because I couldn't even feel it, it was that light, but that the it was enough to get a rise out of me. With one swift motion we ended in the postion where Derek was being pushed against the wall, my hand around his throat while leaning close to his face. "Don't. Touch. Me." I said though gritted teeth and after a moment I let go of him, clearing my throat. "I have a feeling that the thing that killed Isaac's father murder someone at the repair's tonight." I said casually.

"You sure?"

"I just said I have a feeling!" I threw my hands to the side "But you can go around finding out more, if you would like." I said with a sweet smile.

"No, I do trust you." He said, nodding and I told him what I heard that night.

-----------------------------------

The next day I was thankful again that I had no lessons to hold at all. I spend most of my time on the roof, sometimes listening to what Derek and the Betas were doing in the building, not that I had anything to do with it. After some time I started to get hungry, and also had enough of laying at the top of the building. I slowly got up, dusting myself off and started to head back downstairs.

"Hey Boyd." I greeted him with a smile while going down the stairs and he only returned a smile but soon got back to watching the three idiots fighting.

"D!" I said in a slightly whiny tone "I'm starving." I dangled the glass in my hand while walking closer to him, to which he only gave an eyeroll, but took the glass from my hand. The two Betas were already on the floor when he cut his palm for me, letting the crimson liquid falling straight into the glass filling about three quarters of it. "Hiya there." I waved at Isaac and Erica with a smile.

"Hey." they said in unison, panting, while looking a little bit weirded out by my interaction with Derek.

"Here." he held it in my direction when he was done, not even looking at me.

"Thank you, good sir." I said taking it, taking a sip of it as I sat in the door of the train, propping my elbows on top of my knees. Derek cleared his throat as he started to pace around.

"Does anyone want to try not being predictable?" I rolled my eyes with a quite huff. Like you're not, Mr. Can't Even Win a Fight. Just like that, Erica got up from the ground and jump straight into Derek's arms, wrapping her legs around his waist. As a distraction, she roughly placed her lips against his, I couldn't help it, but the disgust was evident on my face watching the exchange. Fortunately, soon enough the man got a hold of her legs and threw her straight back to the ground.

"Hallelujah." I said looking away while taking a sip from my drink.

"That's the last time you do that." Derek said, evidently angrily, while he wiped off his lips with his hand.

"Why? Cause I'm a Beta?" she asked sassily, but the only thing I could do was rolling my eyes again at the comment.

"No." Derek stated firmly. "Because I have someone else in mind for you." That clearly peaked my interest, but I looked at him warily.

"Don't tell me that you're thinking about what I think you're thinking about...." I groaned.

"I could ask you to do the same, if you weren't a teacher right now." he said with a sarcastic smile, which I returned.

"Are we done?" Isaac asked annoyed "Cause I got about hundred bones that need a few hours to heal."

"I wouldn't have said that..." I murmured under my breath as Derek took a few steps in his direction and gently took a hold of his hand "Don't you da-!" I started but I was too slow and he already had the audacity to break his arm.

"Hundred and one. You think I'm teaching you how to fight, huh?" I could see that all of them were worried about Isaac, also starting to get scared because of Derek "Look at me! I'm teaching you how to survive!" I shot up from my seat after placing the glass down beside me.

"Okay, now let go before I double the number of bones in your own body." I said standing behind him, taking a hold of his neck, giving it a squeeze as a waring. He looked at me with anger in his eyes before letting go of Isaac and a did the same with him. "You okay?" I asked squatting beside Isaac. He only gave me a little nod. With a sigh I gently took a hold of his hand, concentrating on the bone just to fasten up his healing.

"If they wanted us dead, why aren't they coming for us now? What are they waiting for?"

"We don't know." I answered the blonde boys question.

"But they planning something." Derek chimed in "And you, especially know that's not our only problem. Whatever that thing is that killed Isaac's father, I think it killed someone last night."

"You think?" I huffed "Good things that I was the one giving you the info, jackass."

"And until I find out what it is, you all need to learn everything that I know." he obviously ignored me walking to the train, his back to us "As fast as we can teach you." he said turning back, giving me a quick glance. I let out a sigh and tuned back to Isaac.

"Let's get you all healed up, and see you guys tonight, right?" I looked at them, and after they all nodded I started to get back to healing them all quickly, especially Isaac with the broken bones.

-----------------------------------

I didn't mention the fact to Derek that I'm moving out. I didn't even bother since he had his Betas with him, so in the afternoon I just simply moved in on my own. Only my clothes were with me, and candles, and my herbs, so it wasn't like I had too much stuff to move but I still took my sweet time placing everything in place.

After living as long as I did, I had the advantage to have enough money to be enough for more than three decades for an average human, so I could afford a house in Beacon Hills instead of an apartment, which had it's perks, even though I did not go for a mansion. The mansions were not my style even if I lived in a couple, but it was more of our long companions fault when we stayed with them for more centuries than I would care to admit. That family loved living in luxury. On the other hand, me and my oldest compadre were the exact opposite, but since they payed for almost anything weren't giving them not one single complaint.

The house wasn't that big, even though it had a second floor and on top of that the attic, bit since I was alone, and it wasn't that expensive it was more than good for me. When you get in through the front door on your left was the living room, which was it's own room, separated with a door from the hallway part. Inside of it were two black couches facing each other, a coffee table in between them and couple of small tables were laying around the place.

If you went further away from the living room you came across with the kitchen, which was fairly small, it still had a counter top, a stove, a sink and a microwave in it with some kitchen tools lying around, neatly arranged. In front of the counter were four barstools, behind it was also a dinning table with some chairs circling around.

Next to the kitchen you could see the side of the stairs where a door was located, which lead straight to the basement. Now, the basement was a little bit weird. After you went down the stairs you ended up in a small room, with only some tools in it, scattered around the place. Six foot further was a big metal door with bars on it, almost like a cell's door from prison, and behind that was a bigger room with basically nothing in it. It was like, it could act as a holding cell for werewolf on the full moon if you please.

Now, if you didn't take the left after crossing the door, a little bit on the right you could see the staircase that lead to the second floor. On the right side of the top corridor was one door on the right and one on the left. The latter could be used as a guest room, the other was a bathroom. On the left side of the corridor were more rooms. Three on the right, one at the end of the hallway and one on the left. The left one was the main bedroom which I chose to be occupied by myself. The ones on the right were, another bedroom, another bathroom, what a surprise, and a small office in the corner where I just stored the book and papers a took from school. And the one in the end of the hallway.

If you just looked at the door nothing was out of the ordinary, except the painting of it was red, but if you stepped in... Well... That's another thing. The wall had already been painted with a dark grey color, and if that wasn't enough, all the furniture in it was either black or dark brown. The windows were small, preventing all the natural light from coming through, but it was more the black curtain's fault. There was a black couch next to the door, and in front of it was the desk. Standing tall in dark brown, the top of it could have been empty, but I already placed candles in all the corners. In its right stood a black cabinet with windows in it. The furniture was already filled with vials in different types and shapes, smaller containers with herbs, and also, there were too many mysterious books to count, which were placed in there placed by me when I got them out of my pocket dimension. All the small desk that could be found in the room were also packed with candles.

After I was completely done with packing out, I sat on the couch in the living room with a glass of blood in my hand while I was reading through some essays the students wrote. It was a pretty chill way to spend my afternoon, at least I thought until someone spoke up behind me.
