First Impressions

"Hey look at the new kid over there." Brianna said, hitting Lexi's arm. As Lexi turned, she saw one of the most handsome men she'd seen in a while. He was tall, dark haired and even off looks you could see his charm shining through his smile. Brianna began to whisper, now to Pierson and Emma too, "He's pretty cute."

They all laughed at Brianna's new 'crush' but she also made that face that was like, I guess I could work with that. To put it simply, Brianna had a thing for playing with guys and leading them on. It wasn't Lexi's favorite trait about her but it didn't mean that she should end their friendship. Lexi on the other hand, thought Andrew was handsome in the way where he would buy you roses everyday for the first week of dating him. He just had that look, that glint in his eyes that said he didn't mess around when it came to love. It didn't make sense in Lexi's mind because she couldn't like Brianna's crush, but from the outside, it was pretty obvious how Lexi was falling for him before she even talked to him.

"Hey dude," Jeremy said hitting Andrew's arm, "Brianna's looking at you." Andrew looked at the group of girls, one of them catching his eye. "Wait is that Brianna?" Andrew said, discreetly pointing at Lexi. Jeremy shook his head, "No man, Brianna's the one to the left, that's Lexi." Andrew nodded, as if saying oh, but then his stare went back to Lexi. She was a beautiful blonde with piercing green eyes. Just by the way she moved and smiled, Andrew was falling for her. He knew that she would never like him though, she was way too popular and pretty. Brianna, eh, she was pretty and all but she didn't have the same captivating look that Lexi did. She didn't give Andrew the same feeling and thoughts that Lexi did when she so much as glanced in his direction.

"I bet that I could make that boy fall in love with me." Brianna said, with a mischievous look. "Yeah okay." Pierson said playfully rolling her eyes. Lexi went along with it, purposely submerging her crush for Andrew out of her mind. "Oh Bri you could totally get that guy, he doesn't look like much." Emma said, not even thinking. Although Lexi never talked to him, her blood somehow boiled from hearing her friends bad mouth Andrew.

"Give me some guidelines for this bet, I'm serious Em." Brianna said, eyeing Andrew like he was prey waiting to be eaten. "Okay well, 2 months, make him date you. Like head over heels, he should be worshipping the ground you walk on." Emma said, enjoying every second of the ploy. "Guys come on, that's like elementary school stuff." Lexi said, almost defensively. "Oh Lexi, lighten up, it's just for fun and games." Brianna said.

Lexi and Pierson stayed quiet for the day about the bet until they were in one of their classes that was just them. "I love Brianna and Emma but I can't believe the way they talked about Andrew, he seems pretty sweet to me." Pierson said, whispering while the teacher turned his back. "For real, I knew Brianna was kind of a player but she's never made a bet on someone just to laugh about it. I don't know how much I can trust her anymore." Lexi whispered back. Then the teacher turned around, ending their conversation.

As the bell rang for 6th period, Lexi had chemistry. You know who else did? Andrew. The teacher arranged them in their seats and Lexi and Andrew sat right next to each other. This chemistry teacher was pretty lenient, allowing talking times and stuff like that. "Hey you're new here right?" Lexi asked, flashing her smile. Lexi's words and her smile sent a shiver down Andrew's spine, how could someone be so beautiful? "Uh- yeah, I'm Andrew." Andrew said, fumbling over his words.

Lexi thought it was cute the way he was so nervous, the way he ran his hand through his hair while he stuttered. All of it was so attractive to Lexi but Brianna basically had 'dibs' on Andrew. "I'm Lexi, don't worry about this teacher by the way, he doesn't care about who's talking or really anything."

Lexi and Andrew talked a little here and there for the rest of class but it was nothing super special. They had a connection but Lexi would keep pushing away any romantic feelings for him for a mulititude of reasons. As they left class Andrew stood up, his tall stature staggering over Lexi. He slung his bag over his shoulder and looked down to meet Lexi's eyes. "Bye Lexi, nice meeting you!" Andrew said, grinning playfully. "Bye Andrew!" Lexi said, mirroring his happiness. Lexi felt so good while taking to him, but now she kinda missed their banter, regardless of how small it was.

That evening, Lexi spent her time trying to do her homework. She couldn't keep her mind off Andrew, thinking about even the smallest things he would do. Like when he would lick his lips doing class work or steal glances at her thinking she wouldn't notice. That's when she got a text, she was put into a group chat and she recognized all the people except one number.

Brianna- Hey guys, I made this group chat just for us to idk talk about stuff?

Jeremy- okay that's pretty chill

Dom- What's there to talk about?

Emma- I think she just meant like, to plan hangouts or talk about school drama

Brent- I already see Lexi enough I don't need to hangout with her

Pierson- Oh please Brent, you love Lexi

Lexi- I don't want to see you anymore than you do

Unknown- Sorry I'm missing a couple numbers, can everyone say their names

Unknown- except the boys, also I'm Andrew

Brianna- I'm Brianna

Emma- I'm Emma

Pierson- I'm Pierson

Lexi- I'm Lexi

Andrew- Okay cool i got them all now

Brianna- Okay so I was thinking, I have this lake house and it's free for the 3-day weekend coming up, are you guys down to join?

Jeremy- What we have a 3-day weekend?!

Emma- Yeah I think you need to listen more, it's coming up next week

Lexi- Omg I missed your lake house!!

Pierson- Same I'm in!

Brent- Well if Lexi goes than I have to go too

Emma- We all need to tan when we go there!

Jeremy- Well I have a very busy schedule...

Brianna- Oh okay so are you not going?

Jeremy- No I don't have anything that weekend I was just saying

Brianna- Um okay anyway who else

Dom- Sounds cool I'm in

Brianna- Andrew you're going too right??

Andrew- Yeah Im down, send the location

Brianna- Okay let me just confirm with my parents

Something about the way Andrew talked, even on text, sent some sort of spark through Lexi. You could feel his cool demeanor through the screen.  Sure he seemed a little nervous while talking to Lexi, but the charm that Andrew had was something you couldn't teach. Andrew felt like he was the on top of the world talking to Lexi, even in a big group chat like that. She was so bubbly and sweet, she made Andrew want to be a better person and he'd only talked to her once in person.
