Ice Cream?
09:54, 6 September 2024As Lexi sat in her seat, waiting for the bell to ring on Friday afternoon Andrew turned to talk to her. "Hey Lexi, I have some money to burn, want to go get ice cream or something?" Lexi tried to hide her grin, feeling like a giddy little kid again, "Oh sure, there's this super good place down the corner, I can show you!" Andrew flashed his handsome smile, letting out a little chuckle from Lexi's happiness. "Sounds good."
Over the past 4 days of sitting next to eachother and texting in the group chat, Andrew had found his groove, show his real cool and calm self to Lexi. She knew he had that in him from the moment she saw him. The next five minutes of class were a breeze for Lexi, who was busy admiring Andrew's features. The way his eyes trailed up and down her face and the way his lips complimented his face so well, Lexi couldn't help herself. Andrew, of course, had noticed these stares and he planned to tease her a bit. "Hey Lexi did you catch the last part of the notes?" Andrew said, knowing she didn't hear a word the teacher had said.
To Lexi, she only saw Andrew's lips moving and didn't connect the dots. She just stared blankly at his lips for a while, her head resting on her hand. Andrew mirrored her body language, resting his head the same way."Sorry what?" Lexi said, waking up from her trance. "Oh nothing I was just asking if you got that last bit of notes." Andrew said, trying to peek at her paper. Lexi's hands immediately went to cover it, knowing she didn't have a thing. "Oh uhm no I didn't get it either sorry." Lexi was a terrible liar in these situations.
Andrew, who was facing the door, saw Brianna walk past. She took one look at the close proximity of them and her face dropped. Not because she liked Andrew, but because she might lose the bet. Andrew waved to Brianna and she waved back but more standoffish. Lexi turned to see who he was waving at and was met with the angry eyes of Brianna. Lexi knew she messed up but she didn't even realize how close she was to Andrew until she snapped back to reality and noticed the feeling of Andrew's warm breath on her.
Brianna soon walked away, noticing her actions, but Lexi couldn't shake the feeling that she was betraying Brianna. The bell rang and Lexi and Andrew got out of their seats, ready to get out of this place. Lexi took the lead happily, ignoring her previous incounter. "This place is good I swear!" Lexi said, speed walking down the street. "I bet it is, hey slow down!" Andrew said running after her and gently grabbing her shoulder to turn her around. Lexi laughed at Andrew's playfulness, a sound that brought joy to Andrew's ears. "It's not my fault you're slow!" Lexi said picking up her pace again.
"Yeah right, I could beat you in a race any day!" Andrew said catching up to her. "Oh really? Okay!" Lexi shouted, as she took off running. Andrew immediately started sprinting and as Andrew was getting ahead of Lexi, he heard her scream. He immediately stopped and turned around to see Lexi on the floor. "Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" Andrew said picking her up. "Yeah I think I just tripped on something." Lexi said on the brink of tears. "Here let me take you home, we'll get ice cream tomorrow." That's when Lexi jumped out of Andrew's arms, "Hahahaha! I tricked you! You're so gullible!" Lexi said snorting while she laughed. Andrew even thought the way she snorted was cute, he really was falling for her, not just a little crush.
"I guess you got me, but we're still walking to the ice cream place now." Andrew said, giving Lexi that disappointed look as a joke. "Fineee." Lexi said, dragging out her words flirtatiously. As they reached the place Lexi asked, "Hey what's your favorite ice cream flavor?" Andrew was about to answer, "Oh it's c-" Then Lexi cut him off, "Wait no! Let me guess it! Ready?"
Andrew smiled, looking down at Lexi and scanning her figure. She was so beautiful on the inside and out. "Okay go ahead!" Andrew said, his tone saying she wouldn't guess it. "Hmm" Lexi said, her finger tapping her chin jokingly, "Cookies and Cream?" Andrews eyes widened in shock, "Wait, how did you know that?" Lexi started jumping up and down, amazed by herself. "Is it really your favorite?" she said, hitting is arm over and over. "No." Andrew said with a straight face before laughing and pointing at her. "Now who's gullible!" Andrew said, still making fun.
Lexi slightly pouted, "Hey! Yours was way worse than mine! " Andrew said, still thinking about how funny it was. "Ugh, whatever. What's your favorite flavor then." Lexi asked sarcastically. "Okay fine my favorite flavor is chocolate, it's boring I know but it's what I like." Andrew said as he watched her smile light back up. "It's okay mines mint chocolate chip, still pretty basic too."
As they ordered and got their ice cream Lexi had an idea. "Hey let's go to the park! I love feeding the little duckies over there." Lexi said, her eyes brightening at the thought of sharing her favorite hobby with Andrew. "I'm in!" Andrew said enthusiastically.
As they reached the park nearby Lexi immediately led him to the pond. "That one's Leo." Lexi said, pointing at a cute duck alone in the corner. Andrew bent down to meet Lexi's height. "That one should be named Lexi." Andrew said pointing to one of these two ducks in the other end of the pond who were all close and I guess you could say 'cuddly'. Lexi feeling bold retorted, "And that one should be Andrew." Lexi turned her head to smile at Andrew and Andrew turned his head the same way, bringing the distance between them to mere centimeters. They both sat and smiled as the world froze around them, sparks flying through each of their hearts. That's when a cough broke the moment.
"Omg Brianna!" Lexi said with fake enthusiasm as she gave her a hug. "I just saw you guys and thought I would say hi." Brianna said smiling since she knew she ruined the moment. "Also Andrew, I was wondering if you wanted to go to lunch over the weekend?" Brianna said, flirtatiously. "Oh uhm, maybe who else is going?" Andrew asked, really only wanting to be with Lexi. "No one else yet but maybe we can talk in the group chat." Brianna said, hinting that she really only wanted to go with Andrew alone. "Oh okay we'll see." Andrew said, trying to be polite. He didn't know Brianna at all so it seemed and little weird to him. "Okay no worries, just an idea that's all." Brianna said, walking away with a forced smile.
The sky was getting dark so Andrew began to walk Lexi home. "This is my house." Lexi said, stopping at a really nice 2-story house. "Thank you Andrew." Andrew looked confused, "For what?" Lexi smiled at his cluelessness, "For taking me to ice cream and the park, I had a really good time." Andrew smiled, happy that she enjoyed it, "Anytime Lexi." Lexi leaned in to give him a friendly hug before going inside.
That night Lexi slipped into bed, ready to sleep and start her weekend. But the thoughts of Andrew raced through her mind. Everything he did made her feel some type of way. Andrew's situation wasn't much different. All the thoughts in his head were images of Lexi, the way she spoke so delicately and laughed so lively. One thing for sure is that Andrew and Lexi slept good that night.
