00:04, 2 January 2024Later that night, Dewey was driving Tatum, Mary & Sidney to the party at Stu's house. After Mary had helped Stu get ready, she decided to head home and ride with the other two girls, so they don't suspect anything. Dewey's cruiser made its way down a long winding path, the headlights lighting up the woods on both sides of the road. Unknown to them, Gale and her news van was trailing behind them, not being seen.
Dewey's van comes to a dead end, right outside of Stu's house. The house sits alone in a large clearing, with not a neighboring house in sight. It was a perfect setting for a night of fun and, well.. terror as Mary thought. She looked at the house, butterflies in her stomach for the night coming ahead. She could hear the music blaring from inside, and she saw a few classmates outside hanging on the porch. Friends of Stu & Billys, but not hers.
Mary walked ahead of her sister and Tatum, entering the house she was just at about 2 hours ago prior. She looked around, seeing kids her age sprinkling around the house smoking, drinking, while the stereo is blasting music. Mary walks into the kitchen, the two girls she came with trailing behind her. She walks up to Stu, who was handling a keg with another guy. "Caterer's here Stu."
Stu looked behind him and saw the brunette, brown eyed girl he loved, and wrapped her in a hug. Tatum and Sidney walk through the kitchen, carrying bags of groceries and alcohol while Tatum looks at the guy on the floor, drinking beer through a funnel. Mary looks over as Tatum scrunches her nose up in disgust. "That's mature.." Mary laughed at her friend's attitude, before Stu rolled his eyes. "You guys were late. We had to start without you." Tatum rolled her eyes and went into the next room, while Mary stayed beside Stu. She went to grab a cup before Stu smacked it out of her hand. She looked at him with a cocked eyebrow. "Why?"
"Billy said we have to stay sober because of tonight." Stu whispered in her ear. Mary nodded her head in understanding, and filled her cup with ginger ale. "Guess I'll be the designated driver" she winked at him. He smiled at her before going back to what he was doing. Mary made her way through the party, mingling with the people throughout the house.
Meanwhile, outside, Gale & Kenny pulled up outside the house, a few feet away from the yard. Kenny picks up a compact video camera that was about the size of his fist. "The control boards glitched. You know we can't carry a live video." Gale, looked over his shoulder and questioned her partner. "What's the delay?" She looked over his shoulder. He shrugged at her, giving an educated guess. "I don't know.. maybe 30 seconds." Gale said she didn't give a shit as long as they caught it on camera.
-Inside-
Sidney, Tatum & Stu were in the kitchen, with popcorn popping the microwave, while Mary prepared a junk food feast for the party. Other teens were coming and going as they please, when Mary spots Randy coming in with a bunch of videos. She meets him at the door, helping him in with his videos. "Damn Randy.. expecting a movie night?" She jokes with him.
"I thought we'd make it a blockbuster night." Mary put the videos on the entertainment center in Stu's living room. Stu and Tatum come into the room and looked at Randy with a cocked eyebrow. "I thought everything was checked out?" Tatum looked between Mary, Randy and Stu, almost confused but moved into the room to check on Sidney again. "I hid them in the foreign section." Mary laughed at the cleverness, and high fives Randy with succession.
Sidney comes into the room, looking through all the movies, seeing a trend between them. "How come all of these have Jamie Lee Curtis in them?" Mary looks over her twins shoulder, and back up at Randy. "Aww.. does little Randy have the hots for Jamie?" She teased him. Sidney and Stu laughed at the joke, as Randy's face turned a bright red. "She's the scream queen" Mary nodded at his response but not believing him completely. Stu joined the conversation, sitting next to Mary on the couch, wrapping an arm around her. "With that set of lungs - she should be."
Mary looked over at Stu, and then back at the video. "Nah.. its tits. see?" She pointed to the back of the VHS box that had a picture on it of Jamie Lee shirtless. Stu snatched the video off of Mary and threw it back on the entertainment center, causing Mary to look at him in amusement. The party was still going strong, ten-fifteen people sitting on the couch, some on the floor. Sidney and Tatum sat next to each other on one side of the couch, while Stu sat next to Mary on the other. There was a tension between Tatum and Mary, especially since Stu clearly preferred to sit next to Mary over his girlfriend.
Randy was taking a vote of what movie to watch when the doorbell rang. Stu looked at Tatum before going to get the door. "I got the door. Tatum, get me a beer please? They're in the garage in the fridge." He gave a look at Mary, asking her not to do what she thought, but she got up and weaseled through the crew, going outside. Stu sighed, and Tatum looked at him. "What am I? The beer wench." She decided to go down anyways, despite her attitude towards it. Mary grabbed the ghost face costume, and went into the bathroom, changing her clothes. She heard Stu scream that the chick from Inside Story was here, and she rolled her eyes.
At that point, she heard Tatum yelling at Dewey for bringing Gale in, when everyone begins to bug her. "I can cry on cue." Stu said giving the reporter a cheeky grin, and Gale shrugged him off "Maybe later." Gale slipped a camera from her bag, turns it on and slides it in a crevice on the entertainment center. Meanwhile, Tatum took a detour to fill a popcorn bowl before she remembers that Stu asked her to grab beers.
Tatum looks around the garage for a light switch, finally finding it and hitting it, causing the garage door to open up. She hits the same switch, causing the door to close again. She finds another switch, and hits it, causing the lights to go on. The garage was creepy, with one singular light bulb lighting the garage, leaving lots of dark spots. Mary stood in a dark corner, in her costume, waiting.
Tatum spots the refrigerator, and heads toward it, not seeing Mary slowly and quietly closing the door leading to the kitchen. Tatum opens the fridge before she hears a crash. She spins around just in time to see Stu's cat escaping from the garage through the cat door. She smiles at her jumpiness and tells herself there was nothing to be scared of. Tatum grabs as many beers as she can, and goes to head back to the kitchen. She goes to turn the knob and realizes that the door is locked.
"Shit." Tatum kicks the door with her foot multiple times, but the door wouldn't budge. "Hey, Shitheads!" She screamed, knocking on the door. Tatum leans over, and hits the garage door button with her elbow. She moves towards the rising door, ready to head out when the garage door reverses, closing again. She looks at the door confused. "What the.." She turns back around and sees ghost face.. or Mary in the costume.. but she doesn't know that.
Tatum gasps but then smiles. "Is that you Randy? Cute." Mary stared at the girl blankly, not even moving. "And what movie is this from? I spit in your garage?" Mary shook her head slowly, side to side. Tatum lifted an eyebrow at the mystery figure.
"Oh.. you want to play psycho killer?" Mary nodded, a smirk covering her face. Tatum gave her doe eyes, responding "Can I be the helpless victim?" Mary once again, silent, not talking since Stu told their friends that it was a man and only a man doing the bidding, nodded. Tatum took a step up, almost getting in the ghost face's face. "Okay lets see.." she smiles mockingly at the figure. "Please don't kill me Mr. Ghostface.. I wanna be in the sequel." Tatum goes to move around the figure, but Mary blocks her path.
"Cut, Casper.. that's a wrap." Tatum tried to push the figure to the side, but Mary intercepts, lunging forward and grabbing Tatum's wrist roughly, causing the beer to hit the floor, shattering at their feet. "Randy.. will you stop? Sid will freak out if she sees you." Tatum yanked her arm roughly, releasing Mary's hold on her. Tatum looked down, seeing a flash of silver, and a large sharp place. Mary darts forward, cutting into Tatum's forearm. Tatum pulls back, horrified, as she realizes how serious the moment actually is.
Mary advances on her, knife ready. Tatum staggers back, holding her bloody arm, backing into the fridge screaming for help. "Who are you?!" Mary doesn't respond, and lashes out at Tatum with the knife. Tatum dodges it, leaping back against the fridge. Mary is close behind her, when Tatum throws open the fridge door, bashing Mary in the face with the door, sending her backwards.
Tatum bolts to the closed garage door. In a panic, she beats and pulls on it trying to make it lift up manually. She eyes the figure, Mary, who was recovering from the blow of the fridge door. Tatum goes for the cat door, dropping to the floor. She wedges her upper body through just as Mary pounces on her, grabbing her feet. Tatum goes crazy and begins screaming and kicking her.
Tatum was half in-half out of the door, beating wildly unable to see the figure behind her. Tatum kicks her foot hard, making direct contact with Mary's torso, knocking her backwards. She takes the time to pull herself further, but she gets stuck. Mary goes over to the buttons on the wall, and hits the button for the garage door, causing it to lift up, taking Tatum with it. Tatum begins to scream, as Mary watches her. Her legs and arms begin to move wildly in a panic, trying to free herself but the motor is faster. She looks up, to see the beam of the door. Her neck hits the first beam, snapping instantly on contact.
Mary unlocks the door, and weaves herself through, getting ready to slip right back into the crowd of the party.
