A break
11:10, 7 May 2021They stayed like that for a minute. Wanting comfort but, mostly worried about what they were gonna do. They were stuck only having measly watch to determine their future. If they could even use the small gold watch.
Sapnap pulled away, reluctantly, but had to say something. What he watched was nothing like how Quackity had described being under his rule. In fact Quackity never even talked about it. Whenever they brought it up Quackity brushed it off, something along the lines of 'it was shit, better to forget.'
"What..." He trailed off, didn't know what to ask.
Quackity sighed, folding in on himself ever so slightly.
"Shlatt was a unique individual," He added a light chuckle.
He let his eyes trail down to the floor, he couldn't think when he saw Sapnap's eyes. Filled with pity, he hated that.
"Can you stop looking at me like that?" He asked with a slight bite behind his voice.
"What do you mean?" Hurt was sprinkled in his voice, which just made Quackity feel more annoyed.
"Like I'm a defenseless child. Like I didn't hold my ground, I'm not weak. I stood up to him you saw! He just, was one of the people who knew how to hurt people. Push their buttons," He ended softer.
Sapnap couldn't help but feel bad. More because he saw himself in Quackity. The way he felt as if Dream couldn't be villian, a bad person. How? When he remembered when they would practice PVP and Dream would give him advice. How could he be a villian when he remebered the way Dream would laugh like a tea kettle which would in turn make Sapnap laugh. He didn't know what to think. Only that he hated the way people would treat him like he was going to break if someone even brought up the green fellow.
"Quackity, I know you aren't a defenseless child. But, it's okay to feel however you want. You aren't weak at all," Sapnap said his eyebrows knitting together slightly.
Quackity's mouth fell open ever so slightly, then broke out in a small smile. He let out a small breath, finally realizing how tired he is.
"Thanks Sapnap really needed that," Quackity said gratefully.
"Of course, I'll always be here,"
A few moments of slience passed honestly taking in what just happened before Sapnap let out a 'oh!'
"I have an idea!" Sapnap exclaimed.
"What?"
Sapnap brought out the peculiar gold watch. Quackity felt as if it was a weapon, fear creeping through him slowly.
"I have an idea. You see this?" Sapnap held out the watch to let Quackity inspect it.
"It's in the same format you write dates, so, I think if we just put in the date in I think we can go back," He said with the excitement of a child, excited maybe he figured it out. Excited he solved a problem.
"And what if your wrong? What if it's a code what if, we are stuck here forever," Quackity's was scared at the thought of being stuck in this endless loop of time that he didn't even sign up for.
"Do you have a better idea?" Sapnap answered with a voice of a know it all. In response Quackity gave him a deadpan look.
He thought for a moment, he didn't have a better idea. So in a leap of faith he ,reluctantly, agreed.
Sapnap nodded and looked down. Taking a deep breath he inputted the date, the date feeling a little freighting it was his idea after all. He tried to shake it off.
"You ready?" Sapnap asked as strongly as he could, but still Quackity noticed and took Sapnap's hand in his own.
"What we need it to do this weird time shit thing," Quackity mumbled defensively.
Sapnap simply smiled, it felt nice to see this side of Quackity. The one who actually cared about people and not the angry and loud mouth persona he always is perceived as. Although he could be, he could be very kind and thoughtful. Sapnap always loved that side of him.
"Yeah yeah," Sapnap teased, "Okay count down from 3."
Quackity hummed, waiting a few seconds trying to get his thoughts in order.
"3,"
Quackity's thoughts when wild, he noticed trying to tell himself not to freak out just made him freak out even more.
'What if we just get hurdled into some black abyss?'
"2"
'Worse what if nothing happens and we are stuck?'
He thought of that, the both of them standing there nothing happening. Stuck here forever with nothing but the stupid watch that was always worn by his favorite person.
"1"
A quiet click filled the air. Quackity remembered the way he felt, like he evaporated, a slight ringing went through his ears. Then it was over before he almost noticed he felt whole again, he squeezed his eyes shut hard. Finally when he felt completely whole, he forced his eyes open. The room making him let out a shaky grateful sigh.
They were here. Not anywhere near Shlatt. Not in some dark abyss. They were here standing, breathing. Thankfulness filled his heart until he let his eyes wander and his heart dropped to his stomach.
He saw a scared looking Karl in front of him, still on the floor eyes wide as saucers. His hair stuck to his forehead almost as if he had taken a shower. His breaths heaving in and out too fast. His panic written clear on his face, as if someone wrote it across his forehead. He suddenly was made aware of the person attached to him when a soft,
"Karl?" came from his mouth.
Karl had his mouth open but no sound came out, his mind feeling like it was racing but his mouth not being able to conjure a single sentence.
"Karl, what just happened?" Sapnap spoke softly, like a child afraid to get their parents frustrated.
After at least a minute of silence, the two boys looking at him with desperation, they needed answers, Quackity's mind wasn't being patient anymore.
"Karl just tell us what the hell that was," Quackity voice was softer than expected but had a bit of a bite to it, causing Karl to finally catch onto his thoughts.
"What happened to you guys?" Karl asked, trying to understand what time period they went to. They could've gone anywhere to when the dinosaurs existed or to a future timeline. Karl felt panic creep in his throat what if they went to a similar time period when he went to the future?
"The day I joined Pogtopia, it fucking sucked Karl. Now tell us, what the hell was that? What does this watch do?"
Karl let out a small breath, good, they don't know.
Quackity grabbed the watch from Sapnap's hand, acting as if he held it too long it could infect him somehow, and threw it at Karl. He threw it hard but Karl was able to catch it, holding it like a baby. It just made Quackity even more confused, why was he treating that death trap like it was so precious?
"It's, it's something that can bring you to different times..." He concluded softly, he said it so quietly that Quackity and Sapnap almost missed it.
"How long have you had this?" Sapnap asked, kindness clear in his voice.
"I don't know," Karl looked up from the watch to meet their faces.
"You don't know?" Quackity asked, almost with a laugh. How would he not know when he got this incredibly powerful thing? How do you forget something like that?
"How can you not know?" Sapnap said with a bit more strength than before.
"Because..." He paused but met Quackity's eyes that basically said 'What the fuck spit it out'
"Because I can't remember okay?" He said quickly, "That's what this thing does."
"Cant remember? It makes you loose you memory?" Quackity said, the anger disappearing within seconds replaced with almost a little bit of fear. How powerful was this thing?
"Then why don't you just stop using it?" Sapnap asked, desperation in his voice because it felt like they had to squeeze the answers out of Karl.
"Because I can stop things from happening, bad things" Karl mumbled, looking down at his crossed legs fiddling with the watch.
He felt so ashamed, and scared. What was going to happen now? This was supposed to be his burden to carry, his job. What were they going to him do now? Exposed like this, exposed of such a big secret.
"Like what?" Quackity spit out, annoyance coming back to him.
"Like you two both dying," Karl said deadpan when he looked up.
