The dead can speak

01:04, 5 April 2021

Quackity took an exasperated gasp. He was on the ground, trying to soothe his fast breathing. He slowly got into a sitting position, breath now coming to a stop as he saw Sapnap. He had his eyes closed, black bangs laying softly across his forehead.

"Sapnap!" more relief in his voice knowing Sapnap was here, "Hey! Hey wake up!" He shook his shoulders roughly.

Sapnap's eyes slowly blinked to life. When he caught sight of Quackity he flung hie head up Knocking heads, rather harshly, with Quackity. Quackity yelped, and fell back on his hands

"Fuck!"

"Shit, sorry," Sapnap muttered, a light laugh behind it.

Quackity massaged his forhead, his eyes wandered behind Sapnap.

He felt his blood go still. The place bringing memories slowly back, too many bad. The original L'manberg after the Election. The old buildings still here before, the explosion. He looked to his right and saw the stage. In all its glory, the memory of Tubbo being elected filling his mind.

"What the fuck..." He whispered.

Sapnap started to take in the surroundings, having the same reaction. They were here. But, how? How were they here? These questions echoed in Quackity's mind over and over again.

"What did you do?!" Quackity yelled, getting up.

"What do you mean?" Sapnap answered with equal anger, starting to get up.

"We are here, this...this isn't possible," Quackity said almost out of breath.

He flung his arms in the air, clearly more scared than mad.

"Karl's watch! Was this caused by..." Sapnap trailed off, looking down at the gold watch in his hand.

Quackity let the thought sweep over, he felt alone. Scared, fear quickly taking over his body. That couldn't be the answer. It just, it couldn't. A stupid measly watch couldn't make them go back to this time.

"I don't-" He was cut off by a voice he never, ever, wanted to hear again. The voice making his eyes widen, shoulders tense. Terror flooded through him.

"Oh Quackity!" The husky, slurry voice cried.

"Hide!" He half whispered to Sapnap, the only coherent thought in his mind.

Sapnap frantically looked around then decided to dive behind a chair. A tuff of his black hair poking out but, hopefully it would do.

Quackity took a deep breath and turned towards the stage. Quackity stood in the middle of the aisle. The stage in front of him, chairs on ether side. He felt like the center of attention, he didn't like it.

Finally, he saw him. Confirming that the fear in him was real.

Shlatt swung around the side of the stage, eyes landing on Quackity. His lopsided grin filled his face.

He was wearing his usual suit.  Instead a few of his buttons were unbuttoned, he didn't have his blazer on and his tie was loosened. He looked like a mess.

"Quackity! Where the fuck have you been?" He stumbled over his own feet, clearly drunk.

Quackitys mind felt numb, no thoughts going through his head. This had to be some sick joke, Sapnap hit him and now he's knocked out. Having this very very real dream. That has to be it.

"Quackity," Shlatt mumbled when he got in front of him. His thick alcoholic breath on Quackity's face making him turn up his nose and look away.

"Aww Quackity what my breath too much for your shit nose," He giggled. He actually giggled. Sometimes when Shlatt got drunk, Quackity would be able to read his emotions clear. Putting it into categories.  Happy drunk. Normal drunk. And Angry drunk.

"A little, smell like shit," Quackity spat.

With this Shlatt threw back his head and went into a laughing fit. When he finally got his laugh under control, his laughs coming lightly he started again.

"There's my Quackity," He mumbled, and pinched his cheek.

That made him sick to his stomach, Shlatt didn't know Quackity. At all, these memories and past emotions forcing their way up without Quackity's permission. Made him feel overwhelmed, he wasn't ready for this. But, he was for sure Shlatt didn't know him, at least, that's what he told himself.

Quackity became embarrassed after a few seconds remembering Sapnap was watching. Shlatt and Quackitys relationship had always been, murky.

"Um anyway why do you need me," Quackity asked averting his eyes, and feeling awkward because Shlatt now had his hand on his shoulder. He felt like it was burning his skin.

"Uhh," Shlatt blinked a few times, before coming to what he was going to say.

"We," He pointed to each other, "are going to take down that piece of shit," he turned and pointed to the White House.

It clicked, he had been through this before. The memories flooding back, this is when he made a decision that would change history. Change him.

"What?" He whispered, mostly to himself. These memories becoming too much.

Shlatt's smirk fell a bit, before returning.

"The White House, is coming down," He yelled flinging his hands in the air, not mad, but excited. Completely unaware to how Quackity would feel about the situation.

Quackity paused, he honestly didn't know what to say. He had been away from Shlatt for so long that he didn't know how to act. Only knowing how he acted in the past.

"Fuck no, Shlatt! C'mon  we make these decisions, together," Quackity felt the irritation and anger he had suppressed before come back.

Shlatt took a small step back, almost analyzing the Quackity in front of him. Shock spreading his face for a split second, then anger seeped in. He was always an angry drunk.

"Don't be a little bitch!" Shlatt bellowed.

"I worked hard on that Shlatt, we aren't fucking taking it down," Quacktiy demanded.

He found himself almost choking out the last word. This was all going way too fast, too many memories, too many bad.

"Pick up your fucking pickaxe and tear it down now," Shlatt roared, so loudly that it made Quackity flinch back. Shlatt only scoffed at the gesture.

"No! Don't tear it down!" Quackity roared, a hint of desperation behind his voice.

"You idiot! Get fucking mining!" Shlatt thundered, "I can't take these fucking idiots."

Quackity felt him close off, felling like a child. He wanted to do what he did before. Burst and yell and scream like he did in the past. But, he was different now. He wanted to leave, with some respect.

"Fine, fucking big man. You know what? Your a shit person, a person that no one would want to turn into. You drink and say it's to "have fun" but, the real reason you drink is to forget what a fucking shit person you are. Because your scared, of what you've become. A sorrow excuse for a person. I'm leaving, go fuck yourself," Quackity spat firmly.

Shlatt stood silently, Quackity subconsciously smiled to himself. He hit a nerve. He scoffed, then turned to walk away.

He had no idea where he wanted to go. He just needed to run, get away. So, that's exactly what he did. He ran. He ran until he felt out of breath. Having to stop to catch his breath back. When he heard footsteps behind him he jumped.

"Woh it's okay just me," Sapnap soothed, he was out of breath too. After Shlatt walked away he quickly ran after Quackity. Quackity felt a little guilt at the sight, he kind of forgot Sapnap was here. He felt so alone.

But, his face brought a smile to Quackitys. At least he had him in, wherever they were, this messed up place is.

He tried to smile, crack a joke but he couldn't. He decided that Sapnap deserved an explanation. He had barely talked about how it was working under Shlatt's ruling. But after a bit the words started flowing. His thoughts coming back to reality.

"I wanted to forget him. Forget how he treated me but, I can't." Quackity's voice broke.

"He's still here in my fucking life! I can't get rid of him! And I was just as bad! I cheered when Tubbo was executed! Did you know that? I was just as bad I can't, I can't-" He stopped tears starting to well his eyes.

He took a sharp gasp when Sapnap wrapped his arms around him. He melted into the embrace, feeling comforted for the first time in awhile. Before he knew it, sobs were racking his body. Sapnap just clung tighter.
