Lies
06:43, 29 March 2021"Quackity what the hell!" Sapnap yelled after a few moments of silence. His brain trying to catch up with what just happened over such little time. And how Quackity couldn't hold his tongue, think before he says. Sapnap knew he didn't mean it, it's just how Quackity was.
"I don't...I didn't mean it I wasn't thinking!" He paused averting his eyes, "he shouldn't be that pissed anyways," Quackity scoffed. But, Sapnap could see it. The way his face just screamed guilty. He always did have a hard time admitting he was wrong about something.
Sapnap stood in front of him, arms crossed. His eyebrows fitted together, not mad but, rather annoyed. He knew Quackity enough that he knew he felt bad but, wouldn't admit it. Making Quackity try to avert his eyes from the disappointed ones in front of him.
"Quackity, cut the crap. I know you feel bad," Sapnap answered firmly. At this Quackity met Sapnap's eyes. He expected him to be angry or frustrated, but he was met with almost sympathetic eyes.
Quackity pondered the thought, lowering his head in shame. He knew what he said was wrong, and seeing Karl's face so hurt after his words made him feel worse. He didn't mean to hurt Karl, he would never, but it just came out. As soon as he said it, he wanted nothing more than to just reverse the moment.
"Yeah, yeah I know," Quackity mumbled.
Sapnap sighed and pinched his nose like a parent. He wanted this all to gloss over and fix this. But, after Karl had given him such a tired look he had a feeling it wasn't the being babied he was mad about.
"Listen we'll find him and you'll apologize okay?" Sapnap reasoned.
"Yeah yeah," Quackity murmured, non convincingly.
"Quackity," Sapnap empathized, putting his hands on Quackity's shoulders, "Listen, everything's gonna be fine. It was one fight, and besides, I don't think he's mad about that." Sapnap hesitated.
Quackity quirked an eyebrow, curious.
"What'd you mean?" Quackity questioned.
Sapnap sighed, taking his hands of of his shoulders. He noticed how tired Karl had been, and how he had left the room so suddenly before. His tired eyes, the way he felt so distant and cold. He was going to ask until this mess had happened.
"Don't you notice how tired he has been? Or when he randomly left the room?" Sapnap asked, trying to see if it was just himself overanalyzing.
Quackity thought for a second, letting his eyes wander the room. He had noticed how tired he had been. He had been acting strange as well, leaving the room unannounced and being spaced out during conversation.
"Sorta, he was acting off," Quackity offered.
"Yeah..." He met Quackitys eyes, "let's go find Karl," He gave a small smile.
He turned for the door and opened it. The sun brightly shining down on them, the smell of wood and pollen filling their noses. Spring had now come, making Quackity's allergies go off the rails. To which Sapnap and Karl would constantly poke fun at how red his face would get.
"Uhhh...where do you think he went?" Quackity asked.
Sapnap's mind slowly swept with questions. He could be at his house? He could be anywhere. He tried to think of other places but his mind came to a wall. This was hopeless they had no idea where he could've gone. Leaving Sapnap feeling desperate, he wanted everything fixed at that moment. For them to not be fighting, but things took time. If he had to wait till tomorrow to fix this that would be okay.
"Well, I have no idea," Sapnap admitted.
Quackity face turned to him, almost surprised he didn't know. Sapnap was the more responsible of the trio. Taking the logical route, today being a prime example, talking some sense into Quackity.
"Oh," Quackity mumbled.
They stood there, not speaking, for a few moments. Because there was nothing they could do. Besides wait for tomorrow and hope they see each other. But, while the two boys were going to break the silence and move on they saw a familiar tuff of blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Tubbo!" Sapnap yelled.
Tubbo turned, snapped from his thoughts. He was walking along the wood path. Honestly, having no idea where he was going. Still feeling so numb from the day before. So he wandered about after his chat with Karl.
"What's up?" Tubbo asked, his voice filled with clear exhaustion.
Sapnap and Quackity shared a glance.
"We wanted to ask if you've seen Karl, we kinda..." Sapnap trailed off and broke eye contact.
Tubbo gave them a sympathetic look, he didn't want to force Sapnap to give him an answer when it was their business. He didn't have to know.
"Well, we talked earlier. Then he went to find you guys. I started following the path and... actually!" He exclaimed the actually, as if remembering, "I saw him going in that direction," He pointed, but it wasn't in the direction of Karl's house. Making them both confused as to why he would be going that way.
"Thanks Tubbo, but, are you okay? Yknow after...everything?" Quackity asked timidly.
Tubbo's face fell a bit, hurt and almost shame. He felt shameful that Quackity was even talking to them after what he did to him yesterday. But, he made the right choice. Maybe not the most people pleasing choice but in his mind the best choice.
"I'm, okay. Trying to take my mind off of it," He paused, "thanks for asking Big Q," He had a small smile.
"No problem Tubbo, we'll talk later," With that he gave a small wave and started on the direction that Tubbo pointed, Sapnap following right at his side.
The grass tickled their ankles as they walked, sun shining lightly on their backs. The clouds covering it slightly, making wild shapes in the sky. Causing the temperature being cool, the wind ruffling their hair and the grass.
"Where do you think he could be?" Quackity asked as they passed a small dirt hill, but something bright caught Sapnap's eye.
The hill had vines coming down from it, and an almost broken look to it. The door being slightly covered in green vines, almost as if to hide something. The door handle gave it away, the bright gold shining in the sun.
"Hey, has this always been here?" Sapnap stopped and looked at a small hobbit hill, resembling George's house which brought a small frown to his face. He missed them, as guilty as it felt to admit it, he did. You always miss the people who hurt you the most.
"I don't know, probably something someone made as a joke. I mean, it does look actually pretty funny," Quackity broke out into a grin.
Sapnap didn't respond instead he reached for the door and pulled it swiftly open, curiosity getting the best of him.
He was greeted with a beautiful library, books littered on the floor. And his breath caught when he saw Karl. He was sitting on the ground, head tiled back, sleeping peacefully with his mouth slightly opened.
"Karl?" Sapnap whispered, still standing in the doorway, gripping the handle tightly.
"Huh?" Quackity exclaimed, he pushed past Sapnap and saw Karl.
The room was small, smelling of old papers and candles. Feeling like it was picked from a story book. It also had a homey feeling, the smell instantly relaxing anyone who came in.
"What the hell even is this place?" Quackity half whispered, wandering over to look at the bookcases.
"I have no idea," Sapnap responded.
He kneeled in front of Karl, and a small smile appeared on his face. Knowing that he was safe and didn't do something stupid because of the fight. He saw Karl's watch was in his hand. Sapnap grabbed it and examined the small gold watch, he always had it on. Never loosing it or missing a day to wear it. Sapnap had asked him about it once but Karl changed the subject quickly.
"Theres a bunch of weird books in here about like time and space," Quackity noted, he was loud enough for Karl to start blinking awake.
Once Karl started to see he let out a yelp, startled.
"Your fine Karl, just us," Quackity acknowledged soothingly.
Karl was going to object, still mad at Quackity until he saw Sapnap had his watch. His eyes widened and let out a audible gasp. He reach for it at which Sapnap snatched it back and stood up.
Sapnap felt something build up in him. Why was this watch so important, was he hiding something? His thoughts instantly went to Dream. Dream had always kept secrets, only hurting Sapnap in the end. It wasn't logical to think but, what if Karl was hiding something? Something that would in the end, hurt Sapnap. He wanted to know. Needed to know, his mind feeling pulled into wild fantasies of what possibly Karl could be hiding.
"Wait...what's so important about this watch? We asked but you never answered," Sapnap looked at it again. Maybe if he looked at it long enough he could uncover its secrets.
Karl looked like an animal trapped, his mouth open, but no words coming out. Completely speechless, he was too tired to come up with a lie.
"Sapnap it's fine just give it back," Quackity scolded.
Sapnap looked back at Quackity, clearly irritated.
"If it's something good why would he not tell us, unless it's something bad," He adds the last part quieter.
"Its, um, um," Karl stuttered.
Quackity not wanting Karl to be even more pissed at him, reached out to take the watch from Sapnap. With Sapnap trying to snatch it back, now getting in a tug of war with Sapnap.
"C'mon dude stop being a dick!" Quackity yelled.
"I'm just-" Sapnap was cut off by the feeling of his feet dissipating. He made eye contact with Quackity, who had also stopped moving. Having an equally terrified look on his face. Then just like that, in a split second, they were gone.
