Chapter 5: Goodbyes and New Starts

A week later after prom, I was having my graduation and I'm running late. It's only because my Dad is trying so hard to look good. I already have my gown on and I'm sitting in the car with my brother. I have my arms crossed and Jake is playing a game on his phone. I was getting impatient because the graduation was starting in 10 minutes. I honked the horn and right after I did that dad ran outside. He got in the car and proceeded to drive to the school.

"Really dad !? My big day and I'm almost late !", I say running my hands through my hair. I was beyond frustrated. "I'm sorry honey, but I had to make sure my outfit was good.", he said. "Wow, so a suit is better than your own daughters graduation.", I say "It's not like that honey." "Whatever dad just hurry and drive."

A few minutes later I got out and ran inside to the backstage while my dad and brother went in the Auditorium where all the other families are. I ran to the back and saw all my friends. I ran up to them and got their attention. "Oh my gosh Y/n, where have you been ?", asked Ariana shocked. "I thought we were gonna have to start the ceremony without you !", said Willow hugging me. "Guys calm down. She's five minutes early.", said Hailey checking her watch.

"I'm sorry. It was my dads fault worrying about his dumb suit.", I say annoyed. Jaden ran up to me and hugged me. "Yes, she made it ! I thought we would have to start without you.", he said. "Me ? Miss this ? You guys are out of your minds.", I say. "Get ready it's about to start.", said Hailey. We all fixed our gowns and got ready. "I can't believe we're graduating."

We got in our spots. We walked out while the graduation music played. I saw my dad and my brother. I also saw Jason. I guess he was here for Selena. He smiled and nodded at me. I smiled back. I wish he would've graduated with us. At the end, we all had our circle. It's a lot of happiness and tears. Of course we're all crying because Hailey's going to a different college then Me, Ari and Willow are. But she was still helping me move in. After all the tears and smiles, I walked up to my dad and brother who were crying. And of course I broke down again.

"Y/n, you've grown so fast.", he says kissing my cheeks. "Now you have to leave tomorrow.", said Jake looking sad. "I know Jake but I promise to visit. And you have my number so we can text, call and video chat.", I say to him holding his face. "It still won't be the same." I hugged my brother. I squeezed him so tight. I didn't want to let go. Dad couldn't hold back so he wrapped his arms around us. We released each other and wiped our tears. I realized there was one more place I needed to go.

"Dad, there's one more place we have to go.", I tell him. "And where is that ?", he asked. "To see mom.", I say quietly. "That's fine by me. Let's go.", says my dad. I grab Jake's hand and we began to walk out. "Wait !", I hear from behind me. "Jason ?", I say turning around. I told my dad and Jake I'd meet them at the car and they walked off without me. "You looked amazing up there.", said Jason finally catching his breath. "Thanks Jas."

"Jas......that's a word I haven't heard in years.", said Jason smirking. "Well, let's just say you're starting to grow on me again.", I say pushing a strain of hair behind my ear. "I'll take that.", he says. Me and Jason continued to talk. Selena walked over and she had already took off her graduation gown.

"Oh Jasey !", she said hugging him. "Hey babe.", he said rolling his eyes. "Kiss me.", she says puckering her lips out. Jason pushes her away making me chuckle. "Not now I'm talking to my friend." "Friend !?", said Selena looking me up and down. "Yeah, I'm his friend. Gotta problem ?", I ask, crossing my arms. "Yes I do ! My boyfriend shouldn't be your friend ! He doesn't need other girls as his friends !",

I laugh at her remark. "Jason is not your boyfriend.", I say. "Then what is he ?", she says crossing her arms. "Basically, your bank account.", I say laughing. "I'm not using him !", she yelled. She looked around and noticed people were looking cause she's causing a scene. "Sure you aren't.", I say leaning on Jason. "Ugh, I'm leaving ! You coming Jason ?" "Nah, I'll stay here with my best friend.", he said wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

Selena was frustrated so she walked away. I laughed and so did Jason. "Y/n ?", I heard someone say. I turn around to see who said my name. It was Shawn "Stay back.",  said Jason standing in front of me. "Wait, please, just hear me out.", he said holding his hands up in surrender. "I'm sorry for what happened at prom. I don't know what came over me. I guess I was just angry of the thought of losing you."

"But we're not dating.", I say confused. "That's why I came over here, to ask you can you officially be my girlfriend." I was in such shock I didn't know what to say. I looked at Jason and he looked upset. "Well, promise never to hurt me or put your hands on me." "I promise Y/n. I swear on my life.", he says stepping closer to me. I moved Jason out of the way and walked to Shawn. "Then I guess it's official."

Shawn smiled and laughed. Then he picked me up and spun me around. Then he kissed me in front of everyone. They clapped and cheered. Jason walked away. I wanted to run after him but I just didn't. 30 minutes later, after that graduation fiasco, my dad pulled up to our local grave yard. I haven't been here since my mom died. I grabbed my dad and my brothers hand and we walked to her grave. There it was. The place where we buried my mother. I could already feel my eyes water up. I walked closer to it. I began to talk to my mom.

"Hey mom. It's been a while. I just wanted to come and tell you that I did it. I did it mom. I did it for you, Dad and Jake. I'm moving into my dorm room tomorrow too. I'll be sharing it with Ari and Willow.", I say with a smile.

"Hailey's going to another college. I guess she's not looking forward to music and acting, but she won't be that far though, just a few miles away. She's more of a business women.", I say with a short giggle. My eyes started to water. "I miss you mom and I wish you got to see me walk across that stage. I love you mommy !"

I began to cry. I missed my mother so much. I just couldn't believe she wasn't with us anymore. My dad came up behind me and embraced me into his arms. Jake cried as well. I knew he felt my pain.

I woke up and saw the beautiful sun. I checked my phone and noticed I had two good morning texts from Shawn and Jason. I answered Jason's first and then Shawn's. I told them both that I'll be getting ready to go to my new dorm room. I got out of bed and went to my bathroom. I took a hot shower and washed my body and hair. I got out with a towel on my head and wrapped around my body. I looked in the mirror and made a few faces. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I put on some clothes and went downstairs.

I had like 2 more hours before I had to leave. I decided to spend as much time with my brother and dad before I was gone for good. As I got to the last step I began to smell breakfast. I walked in the kitchen and saw Jake in his normal chair texting on his phone. "Good morning my two favorite people in the whole wide world.", I say with a bright smile on my face. "Good morning my beautiful daughter !", says my dad. "Good morning my wonderful but annoying sister !", says Jake.

"You ready to help me get my stuff in Willow's car ?", I say. "No. Do you have to go ?", asked Jake. "Yes, I wanna build a career in music and acting.", I say sitting at the table. "Can you act like you never had to go to college to begin with ?", said Jake with a smile. I chuckle at him. "Doesn't work like that kiddo." "I'm not ready either.", my dad said. "I thought you guys were looking forward to this day.", I say. "It came too fast.", said Jake.

A few moments later it was time for me to head to the dorms. Willow and Ariana had all their stuff in the van already. They were here to help me finish packing and put the stuff in the van. So was Hailey and Shawn. Those two were going to the same college. I think that's good cause those two could call me if there's something wrong with the other. We all were in my room going through left over stuff in the drawers.

"Omg Y/n ! You've kept our friendship bracelets that we use to wear in middle school !?", said Willow getting teary eyed. "Of course.", I say. "We have to wear them again.", said Ariana putting hers on. "Only if you don't drop them and not notice them like last time.", I say. "I know I'm not dropping mine.", said Hailey flashing hers. "Wow, I must've missed a lot.", said Shawn scratching his neck. "You sure did babe.", I say kissing his cheek.

"Well, we have to go in a few minutes.", said Willow checking her phone. "Hailey please ?", said Ariana. "No, I've made up my mind.", said Hailey. "It's cool girls. I'll take care of her.", said Shawn with a smile. "I can take care of myself thank you.", said Hailey thumping Shawn on the head. "Whatever guys, let's just take the rest of these bags to the van."

They all got a bag and we headed downstairs. We all put the bags in the back of the van. We closed it and formed a circle. It was nothing but smiles and silence. Years of friendship. Only one of us is getting Separated. My Dad and Jake was sitting on the porch watching us talk. He couldn't believe I was leaving either. Before I left, I walked up to my dad and brother.

"I guess this is goodbye.", I say to my dad. "I guess it is.", he says. "I'm gonna miss you dad.", I say hugging him. "I'm gonna miss you too muffin.", he says crying. "Me too.", said Jake. "Oh come and hug me dork !" I hugged my brother so tight we almost fell over. This hug was so powerful, I felt like I had lost my brother. Then dad wrapped his arms around me and my brother.

It was time to go. We got in the car. Willow in the drivers seat and Ari in the back. I sat in the passenger seat. I wiped away a tear. I waved goodbye to my dad and brother who were still crying. Then we drove off onto the road. Time for a new start. I was thinking about a lot of things during this car ride. I was thinking about my mom and how proud she would be of me.

A hour later we arrived at the college. We started to move in. Ariana then told us that Jaden was in the same college so they were going to be roommates. Me and Willow laughed. They were just going to be down the hall. As me and Willow were bringing our last box inside we bumped into a guy walking backwards. He looked like Jason from the back. He turned around and we saw that it was Jason.

"Jason !? Dude what are you doing here ?", asked Willow more happy than I was. "I got my GED and now I'm going to college here.", he says with a grin. Just great. "Same ! Me and Y/n are roommates.", said Willow. "Yeah. Is Selena here too ?", I ask. Selena walked up to us right after I said that. "I am but I'm not going to this dumb school.", she says looking around with a gross look on her face. Thank god she won't be going here. "What school are you going to then ?"

"That business school that's a few miles from here. I wanna start my own clothing line.", she says with a smile. "So she doesn't have to use Jason to buy her clothes.", I whisper to Willow making her giggle. "What ?", said Selena looking at us. "Nothing. I'm gonna finish unpacking.", I tell Willow. I looked at Jason then walked in the room. After I unpacked I looked at my room and Willows room.

It looked pretty good to me. I had a feeling that college was going to be fun for me. But still it might be a bit bad because Jason's going to college. But I miss him so much.=====================================Here's a new chapter 😊 also happy birthday Selena Gomez
