Winter Camp

16:27, 12 April 2014

Louise's POV

So Ed was nice. I guess I didn't really know him and was probably never going to see him again. The thought sort of made me sad. Weird, wasn't I? I had only just broken up with Harry, but he was not on my mind at all.

I had gotten all my things from his house and wiped him from my memory. He had moved on and so had I.

My phone buzzed and I picked it up on the 3rd buzz.

"Hello?" I asked not knowing who it was as the caller ID was unknown.

"Hi, is this Louise Clark?" A female voice spoke.

"Uhm yeah..." I replied.

"Hi I'm Carly Roth. I run the winter camp for young, troubled teenagers." She informed me.

"Yeah?"

"I'm short on staff for the catering and I saw one of your flyers, so I was wondering if you could come and work for me? You can be the head chef."

"Yeah! That would be great!" I beamed at her.

"Fab! The position is for 5 days where you will sleep over. You will be provided with food and shelter. I'll email you all the details."

"When do I start?" I asked.

"Camp starts in 2 weeks." Carly answered. "I have to go but thank you! Check your email."

"Thank you and I will." I said and she hung up.

I jumped up in happiness as soon as Lottie came through the door.

"What are you so happy about?" She questioned.

"I've got a job! It's only for 5 days but I'll be out of your hair."

"What do you mean? Doing what?" Lottie was impressed.

"Catering. I don't know the full details. She said she would email me but they're going to provide me with shelter and stuff."

"That's so great." Lottie beamed.

"I know!" I smiled.

Ed's POV

"Carlyyyy." I whined.

"Please, Ed." Carly persuaded.

My friend, Carly, was short on staff for catering. All she had was a chef but no helpers. She ran a winter camp (I know, a winter camp) for teens.

"But... I have music stuff to do." I complained.

"It's only for 5 days and you can do music stuff here. You can perform if you want. Please, Ed." Carly was desperate.

"Urgh fine!" I gave in. "Only coz I'm nice."

"Thank you, Ed! You're a star. Get packing." She said. "Have to shoot, I'm so busy."

"Alright, see ya." I replied and she hung up abruptly.

Carly was very short and brief but, from what I gathered, I was going to need to pack 5 days worth of clothes and leave in 2 weeks. Heck, I didn't even know where this 'winter camp' was.

I would have to check my emails later.

I fell back on my sofa in a heap. I couldn't stop thinking about Louise. I didn't even know the girl yet she had a captivating essence around her. Just her being around gave me butterflies. Even thinking about her made my heart long to hear her voice again.

I slapped my cheek with my hand. I needed to snap out of this. It was not normal. It was crazy. I needed to forget I ever met her.

Easier said than done, I thought to myself.

2 Weeks Later...

Rolling my suitcase along , I found the room I was going to be staying in for the next 5 days. Room 18. I couldn't believe Carly actually got me to do this.

She had been calling and emailing me for the past 2 weeks making sure I knew exactly when and where to come and what I needed to do and bring. I wish I never said yes! But she was a mate and I looked out for my mates.

I unlocked the door to my small wooden room and entered. The camp looked like something out of 'Camp Rock' or 'Parent Trap' but a little more quieter. I had never been to camp before. I wasn't even aware there were camps in Suffolk.

I unpacked and settled in to my room. I guess it wasn't too bad. I noticed there were 2 beds. Did that mean I was going to have to share?

As soon as that thought flowed through my mind, the door burst open and a flamboyant looking man wildly entered.

"Hola chico! You must be Ed!" The man, who I figured was Spanish, greeted.

He had short, blonde, quiffed hair and tanned skin. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a multicoloured, swirled, patterned t-shirt.

"Uhm hi?" I said.

"I'm Carlos. Ooh loving your hair chico, you dye it no?" He enthusiastically beamed. "I love the bright, vibrant light it sets off."

"Thanks, but this is my natural hair colour." I informed him.

"Yes of course it is, and I'm a natural blonde." He winked at me.

Did he think I was lying or something?

"Oh I'm so excited to share a room with you! This is going to be fab-u-lous." He smiled excitedly.

"Uhh yeah, totes amazeballs." I pretended to act like him and he just looked at me as if I were a weirdo. Okay then...

"I'm sure we're going to be the best of friends." He patted me on the back and threw his suitcase on the bed which I had already mentally claimed, but it was fine. I would just sleep on the other one.

"So are you working in the kitchens too?" I quizzed.

"Have you seen these nails?" He pointed to them. "Do you really think I would be scrubbing dirty pots or cooking smelly food with these bad boys? Na uh." He clicked his fingers twice in a horizontal line whilst saying 'Na uh'.

"Oh right, so what are you doing here then?" I questioned.

"I'm the drama instructor. Here to make all the poor teens express their views creatively. All the other teachers are arriving tomorrow but I thought I would get here early." He smiled happily.

"Oh right I see."I answered him.

"So you're working in the kitchens then, chico? Oh poor darling!" He screeched with sincerity.

"Well Carly asked if I could teach the odd music class." I explained.

"Ooh handsome and musical! Carlos likes." He smirked.

"Dude, I'm not... you know... gay." I told him.

"I know, chico! But there's no harm in window shopping." He winked at me then walked passed me.

He opened his suitcase and began to unpack his belongings.

"Oh kaka! I've forgotten my moisturiser." Carlos threw his hand to his face.

"It's live, you can use mine." I smiled at him whilst sitting on my bed.

"See I could just tell you moisturise. I love that in a guy." He replied.

I was feeling a little uncomfortable. Was he hitting on me? So I moisturise? And what?

I looked around for my cream when I discovered I too had forgotten mine.

"Uhm bad news, Carlos, I've forgotten mine." I informed him. "But you can live without it for 5 days, can't you?"

"No! Oh my I can feel my skin going dry already. There must be someone around here who has moisturiser. I'm going to make friends." Carlos told me whilst approaching the door.

"Where ya going?" I asked.

"Next door. I saw a girl walking in there when I came in. She was very gorgeous! She must have some. You coming?" He offered.

"Nah, I'm good here, mate." I pointed to my guitar. "Gonna play around with some chords, maybe check out the music room."

"Oooh you keep doing what you do chico! Looking forward to hearing you!" He exclaimed. "Adios!"

"See ya." I waved and he left the room.

I wonder who the girl was?

Louise's POV

Well Carlos seemed... fun. He had just left my room after asking for my moisturising cream. Luckily I brought 2 with me as one was running out.

This camp seemed pretty awesome. I didn't actually have to work today as all the camp mates were arriving tomorrow morning. I wanted to take a look around.

I heard there was a music room with guitars and pianos and drums. I wanted to check it out, but I didn't want to go on my own. I asked Carlos but then he started talking about how his roommate loved music and the conversation sort of trailed off.

My room was pretty boring if I was honest, so I thought I would take a look around the camp. I opened the door and let the cold winters breeze whip passed me.

I decided to take a left and walked passed all the other rooms and to the main building. I noticed my lace was untied but I couldn't be bothered tying it.

Cautiously, I stepped in and looked around. There were so many rooms, all labeled with different names. Art, Drama, English, Hall...

Suddenly, I heard something. Someone was singing. Their voice was angelic and floated elegantly in to my ears.

"You're strumming on my heart strings

Like you were a grade 8, but I've never felt this way

I'll pick your feet up off of the ground, I'll never ever let you down

My eyes are a river filler, this drink is a liver killer

My chest is a pillow for your weary head to lay to rest again

Your body is my ball point pen, and your mind is my new best friend

Your eyes are the mirror to take me to the edge again

I see it in your movements tonight, if we should ever do this right..."

He carried on singing as I approached the door quietly. This dude was phenomenal. I gently pressed my hands up against the door and peered through. I couldn't quite see his face.

I moved closer, a little faster when I tripped over my lace. Why didn't I tie it? I came stumbling forward and fell flat on the floor, my face colliding with the ground.

"Ouch!" I yelped.

I heard footsteps clatter towards me and saw black Nike trainers stop near my head.

"Erm, are you okay?" He asked whilst bending down.

I turned around as he outstretched a hand towards me to help me up. As soon as I grabbed it, I saw his face.

My heart fluttered and I noticed his eyes light up.

"Louise?" He tried to hide his smile.

"Ed."
