You Again

17:19, 25 October 2014

Ed's POV

She was stunning. Not just stunning, she was beautiful. But I let her slip from my fingertips, I was probably never going to see her again considering she hated Harry's guts.

Plus, I didn't even know the girl...

I was on my way to some restaurant I didn't even know the name of to meet my friend, Jamal. He said that it was 'around the corner from his house and is red'. I was way passed 'the corner' of his house and there wasn't anything red but a post box in sight. Thanks, Jamal.

My phone buzzed in my pocket making me jump and giggle like a girl at the same time.

Dude, you literally walked passed me!! Turn around!!

The text read and I spun around from where I was standing. Jamal was smoking a cigarette outside a BLACK building.

Steadily, I jogged towards him.

"What happened to 'round the corner from my house and is red'?" I questioned.

"Yeah, and it is." He threw his ciggie to the floor and stamped on it.

"It's way further than 'round the corner' and where's the red at?"

"Can you not see that strip of red right there." He pointed out a sliver of red. "And I thought you could do with the walk."

"Hey, I don't have a six pack, and I'm never gonna have a six pack, so I might as well stuff my face." I told him.

"Dude, you are a bit on the fat side." He poked my flab jokingly.

"Hey! We prefer the word 'chubby'." I said.

"Whatever Edwardo." He grinned and we entered the restaurant.

It was a pretty posh, elegant and sophisticated place.

"Why are we here?" I asked. "This place is way too snazzy for us."

"Snazzy?"

"I said it so I thought I'd roll with it... not really feeling it though." I explained.

"Neither do I." He agreed and we sat down.

"You never answered my question though: what are we doing here?" I quizzed his strange behaviour.

"Do I have to have a reason to want to hang with my mate?"

"Pretty much, yeah." I nodded.

"I just thought we could spend some time together." He said.

"Dude, we sound like an old married couple. You thought we could 'spend some time together'?"

"Gosh Ed, fine. I have to tell you something... but just wait okay?" He looked dead serious.

"What? Jamal just tell me now." I ordered him.

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"Ed I said no and I mean no. Now you going to order or what?" Jamal questioned.

"Yeah, wait." I looked down at the menu.

"Hi, I'm going to be your waitress for today." A lady said. Her voice sounded really familiar. "My name is Louise."

My head shot up in an instant. It was her again.

"Yoda!" I beamed.

"Excuse me?" She said then studied my face. "Ed!"

"I knew your name wasn't Yoda." I smirked.

"Yeah... sorry about lying." She apologised.

"It's fine, I mean, you just got dumped." I told her.

"Yeah..." She frowned at the floor upset.

"Oh I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine." She smiled.

Jamal coughed very loudly and glared at me.

"Oh, this is Jamal." I told her.

"Hi..." She waved.

"Well hello there." He winked at her and I kicked him hard under the table. "Ouch!"

I just smiled at him.

"So you work here?" I asked.

"No, but my boss owns this restaurant too and was short of staff so asked me to work a shift. First and last day today." She explained.

"Oh right, interesting." I replied.

"Can I take your order?" She asked.

We told her what we wanted to eat and she scribbled it down on on her notepad and left.

I gazed in awe as she drifted away.

"Yo, why'd ya kick me?" Jamal questioned.

"Coz you were being weird."

"Was not." He said.

"Was too."

"Not."

"Too."

"Not."

"Fine what ever." I told him.

"So how'd you know her?" He asked.

"Don't really. Only met her yesterday."

"Really?"

"Yep, she seems pretty nice though..." I shyly smiled.

"You like her, don't you?" Jamal nudged me playfully in the arm.

"Don't."

"Do."

"Don't."

"Do."

"Fine maybe I do, but I don't think she's interested, plus she just broke up with her boyfriend."

"Oh, right..." Jamal thought for a while. "Why don't you just ask her out and see what she says?"

"Because she'll say no."

"How do you know?"

"Because her ex is my best friend Harry and she barely knows me." I told him.

"Do you think Harry would mind?"

"Nahh, Harry isn't like that. Plus, he's moved on..." I explained.

"Then there's nothing stopping you. Ask her, if she says no, at least you tried." Jamal advised.

"I don't know..." I trailed off.

Our food arrived and we munched it down.

"So, you gonna tell me why you brought me here?" I asked.

"Okay..." He sighed. "The thing is..."

"Is...?"

"I'm moving house." He informed me.

"Cool." I smiled. "That's why you brought me here? To tell me you were moving house?"

"I hadn't finished..." He looked down. "I'm moving house... to New York."

"New York?!" My mouth dropped wide open.

"Yep..." He muttered.

"New York as in America New York?"

"That is correct." He nodded.

"When?"

"Next week..."

"NEXT WEEK?!" I yelled a little too loud and everyone looked at me.

"Sorry dude, it was all pretty sudden. I'm still gonna visit and stuff. There's Skype and all that."

"I guess so..."

We continued to discuss the drastic bombshell Jamal had just bombarded me with until we had both finished our food.

"Are you both ready for the bill?" A new waitress asked.

"Yeah... uhm where's the other waitress?" Jamal rudely questioned.

"Oh, she finished her shift for today. She left like a minute ago."

"Dude! Go after her, this is like your only chance." Jamal ordered.

"But... you and-" I muttered.

"Ed! Go!" Jamal cut in. "I'll catch you later. Food's on me."

"Where'd she go?" I asked the new waitress who looked thoroughly confused.

"Uhm... the restaurant entrance?" The waitress was looking at me like I was a freak.

"Cheers!" I beamed and jumped out my seat. "Catch ya later mate!" I said to Jamal.

I swerved passed tables and dodged in between people to reach the entrance.

"Excuse me, coming through!" I yelled and paced out of the door.

I could just make out a girl at the end of the road who looked just like Yoda... I mean Louise!

"Louise!" I yelled and ran as fast as I could. She was so far away. "LOUISE!" I bellowed as loud as I could.

As I got closer I noticed she had headphones in. I couldn't run that far that fast.

Huffing and puffing, I swiftly ran up the street as soon as she turned a corner.

Why was she walking so fast?! I was a very unhealthy person who did not do a lot of running.

Staggering up the road I was losing my breath. I stopped for a second to catch my breath when a bus languidly drove passed me.

My jaw dropped open when I saw Louise humming away from inside the bus. That's why she was walking so fast: to catch the bus.

Frowning, I watched as the bus drove off into the distance. I guess I was never going to see her again...
