Moments... (An Ed Sheeran fanfic)
00:38, 15 December 2015Louise's POV
I felt like I had been shot straight in the heart. Pain fizzed around my body as tingles and shakes moved my hands. Light headed and confused, I gazed into his emerald, sparkling eyes which were overwhelmed with pity and etched with pure hatred.
"Harry...?" I croaked as tears began to smudge my vision, making him go a little blurry.
"I'm sorry, my decision isn't going to change." Harry coldly explained whilst moving a wisp of his long, curly hair from his face.
My lips began to tremble and a single tear escaped my eye and rolled down my delicate cheek.
"I thought you loved me..." I wiped my eyes trying not to appear vulnerable and desperate- it didn't work: more drops leaked out.
"I did love you, but not anymore..." By the look on his face I could tell he was hating this. He despised being the cruel guy, but he had to tell me. "I'm letting you go, Lou. You can be free."
"But I don't want to be 'free', I want to be with you." I pleaded, tucking a loose strand of my long, curly, blonde hair behind my pale, pierced ear.
"I'm sorry." He gazed down at the floor as if he were being told off by his mum.
"Is that all you can say: 'sorry'?" I hissed trying to sound harsh.
He looked up from his staring match with the frosty ground.
"I don't know what else to say. I'm breaking up with you."
"Leave it. Don't ever speak to me again. Goodbye, Harry." I snapped and quickly turned around.
He grabbed my arm with a loose grip as of he wasn't too bothered if I shook him off.
"Lou, don't be like this, we can still be friends." He was trying to sound caring but the tone of his voice indicated he wasn't really fussed.
I shook his arm off with little force.
"My name is Louise, only my friends call me Lou, and we are not friends." I bravely spoke.
Holding back the tsunami tide of tears that was trying to break my barriers, I scurried off down the path to the exit of the park, Harry calling my name.
Ignoring him, I left the park and let the tears gush out. Shaking uncontrollably, I fumbled around callously in my light blue, denim jeans pocket for my phone.
I plunged it out and nearly dropped it in the snow. I dialled Lottie - my best friend's- number.
She answered on the second ring.
"P... park... Ha...Harry... left me..." I sobbed.
"Lou Lou? Take a deep breath and tell me again, nice and slowly." Lottie advised in calm tone.
I exhaled in the ice cold air with a sharp breath.
"Harry broke up with me. Can I crash at your place?" I mumbled clearly.
"That absolute idiot. Of course you can Lou Lou, you're at the park?" Lottie asked, caringness seeping through her soothing voice.
"Y...yeah..." I muttered.
"Stay put, love. Be there in 2 minutes." Lottie hung up.
I shoved my phone back in my pocket.
"Louise!" I heard Harry yell from behind.
"Go fuck yourself!" I angrily hissed back and sat down outside the entrance to the park in wait for Lottie.
Wiping my soft blue eyes, I stared at the white duvet of snow filling up the floor. Harry caught up and sat next to me, not saying a word.
My bum slowly turning wet, Harry finally spoke.
"Louise, c'mon we live together, you can't just run off with nowhere to stay." He looked genuinely concerned.
"Oh like you care."
"Hey, don't say that. Of course I care." Harry announced.
"You have a funny way of showing it." I sniffled.
"I guess I do... but where you going to go, huh?" He lifted my head up.
"I'm going to Lottie's." I informed him.
"Without any clothes or anything? Just come home and we can sort this out."
"What's there to sort out? You've broken up with me." I told him.
"Exactly, I've broken up with you. Why should you have to leave? Look, I'll go and stay with a mate if you don't want me around, but I'm going to have to go back sometime, I mean it is my house." He explained.
"I'm fine at Lottie's." I said. "I'll pick up my stuff tomorrow."
"Louise..." He whined.
"Please, Harry. Just go." I looked away not wanting him to see me cry.
I looked back a minute later and he was gone.
Lottie pulled the car up beside me and walked out.
"Aww come here hun." She held out her arms and gave me a much needed hug.
"Thanks for this, Lottie." I thanked.
"Hey, what are best friends for?" She smiled assuringly.
We both entered the car and drove through the narrow roads back to Lottie's house. We were there in less than 5 minutes.
Lottie lived alone in an apartment in a block of flats. She was studying in university, unlike me who left college and got a job as a waitress straight away. I didn't want to be a waitress for ever. I aspired to own my own line of restaurants across England and become an amazing chef. But for now, a waitress was fine. I was only 19 after all. As for Harry, he worked in a bakery.
"You can take my bed and I'll sleep on the sofa." Lottie announced.
"No you can't do that, I'll be fine on the sofa." I told her.
"I don't think so. You're a guest in my house whose boyfriend has just broken up with. My bed is more than adequate."
"Thanks L, you're the best." I thanked.
"Aren't I just?" She smirked. "You want to talk about it?"
"No... not really." I frowned.
"That's fine." She said. "Make yourself at home, I'll fetch you a cup of tea."
I collapsed on the sofa in a heap. Glaring at the empty walls around me, I thought hard about my life.
What was I going to do now? I was homeless, with no boyfriend, and no belongings.
I pulled my long sleeves down my arm so they were dangling out and wiped my sore eyes.
Why was I crying? He wasn't worth my tears. Snap out of it Louise! Stop being pathetic.
"It's two sugars right?" Lottie stuck her head round the door.
"Yeah." I replied.
She returned to the kitchen.
Voices of Harry swirled around in my mind of all his empty compliments.
'I love you.' or 'You and I till the end.' or 'You're perfect to me.'
All lies. He never loved me, did he?
I stood up from where I was sitting. Why should I be here whilst he was perfectly fine in our house? Where all my things were? No, that wasn't right.
I should be there, don't I get to argue my corner? Don't I get to tell him about how he hurt me?
"I've got biccies as well." Lottie came through the door with a tray in hand.
"Sorry Lottie, I gotta go." I hurriedly said.
"Where?" She looked worried.
"I'm gonna go stick it to him." I said with confidence and swiftly paced out of the house.
*******
I looked through the driveway, but Harry's car wasn't there. Where was he? I unlocked the front door and burst through it. No sign of Harry.
Strange.
Languidly, I sweeped into the kitchen and opened the fridge. I was parched. I needed a drink.
I studied the fridge and the only drink I could see was orange juice.
With an annoyed expression, I slammed the fridge shut and poured myself a glass of water.
I began to gulp it down when two hands grabbed me from behind making me jump.
"What are you doing here?!" An unfamiliar voice said.
I turned around to face him. Water flowed down the wrong hole in my throat and I began to cough insesently.
Choaking away, the short, ginger haired boy stared at me.
I couldn't help but cough and I literally couldn't stop.
He grabbed the glass out of my hands and poured me some more water from the tap.
"Drink." He laughed.
I snatched it out of his hands and drowned it down. My coughing ceased.
"Thanks." I said.
"You're funny." The edges of his lips curled.
"Uhmm thanks..." I said feeling embarrassed that he found my choaking funny.
"I'm gonna ask again, what are you doing here?" The mysterious boy asked.
"I might ask you the same question." I questioned him.
"I'm the erm... gardener." He lied through his teeth.
"That's strange because I'm the gardener." I tricked him.
"That two timing bastard! He told me I was the only gardener for him!" He joked.
"Who told you you were?" I asked.
"Harry, Harry Styles." The boy informed me.
"Now the truth, what are you doing here?" I quizzed.
"I'm here to find Harry. He's my best friend and he's about to make a stupid mistake." The chubby boy explained.
"You're his best friend? Ed Sheeran,is it?" I asked realising that I had never even met Harry's best mate. All I knew was a name.
"Yep, the one and only." He winked.
"What's this big mistake he's going to make?"
"Don't say a word but... he's going to break up with his girlfriend." Ed whispered.
"Oh my gosh! He's going to break up with his girlfriend? Poor her." I lied.
"I know, I don't suppose you know where he is?"
"I'm afraid I don't." I informed him. "Look, I better go."
"Wait, you never actually told me what you were doing here." He asked.
"I told you, I'm the gardener." I started to walk away.
"Wait," He grabbed my wrist. "What's your name?"
"My name?" I said confused.
"Yeah you know... Sarah, Liam, Rose, Mary... Yoda." Ed looked at me.
"Yeah that's it." I said.
"Your name's Yoda?" He stared at me.
"Yep, Yoda. My parents loved Star Trek." I randomly said.
"Star Wars?" He asked.
"Yeah and that." I agreed and started to scurry off.
He followed me to the door and I shoved it open. My jaw dropped as I saw Harry holding hands with another girl.
"The fuck?" I yelled.
"Louise!" Harry let go of the girl's hand.
"Crap, you're Louise?" Ed looked at me.
"I have to go." Tears started to bubble up in my eyes as I ran off down the road.
"Louise, wait!" Ed yelled but I had already disappeared.
