Chapter 18 - This Is My Daughter's Room

Nanon's POV

It was one monday afternoon. We were having lunch at cafetaria. We were still waiting for our orders to arrive when suddenly I noticed a familiar face approached us from the far end of the cafetaria, or to be exact, approaching me. "Ohm, Ohm, she's coming." I nudged Ohm in panic. "Huh? Who?" Ohm looked around and noticed her too. "Oh God, she is coming towards us. What should we do?" I don't know what to do. "What are you guys talking about?" Perth asked, turning back to see what's going on. Drake turned back too, curious of who we were talking about. "Oh, that's Love. The star of management faculty. She's so pretty." Drake is in awe. "Yeah, she's pretty. Pretty crazy." I told them.

"Oh, hi Nanon, I almost didn't see you there." Love greeted me when she arrived. "Hi. Umm. We need to get to class." But then the cafetaria lady arrived with our orders. "Your orders has just arrived. Don't you need to eat that first? By the way, can I join you guys? Nanon, can you scoot a little?" she asked me in a too sweet tone. "No, he can't. You can sit somewhere else." Ohm looked irritated. "Ohm, that's so rude. Here, you can sit next to me." Drake offered. "Oh, thank you. You're so nice. My name is Love, what's your name?" she asked Drake. "Oh, my name is Drake, and this here is Perth. How do you three know each other?" Drake asked. "I'm Nanon's fiance." She said with too much confidence. "No, you're not. Love, I already have a boyfriend. Please don't do something like this." I told her. "But, I already fall in love with you. How can you do this to me?" She pretended to cry. "Sorry, are you a masochist or something? Cause from my point of view, all Nanon did was yell and scream at you. How can you fall in love with him?" Ohm looked confused. Me too. "Okay, what's going on? Nanon, why do you suddenly have a fiance?" Perth asked me. "She's not my fiance. It's not even on the table. Well, she was supposed to get set up with Ohm by her parents and Ohm's grandpa. But then one thing led to another, and the next thing we know, she said she's in love with me." I told them. "Oh no, you can't simplify the story like that. You forgot the parts where you yelled at Ohm's grandpa and me." Love defended herself. "You yelled at an old man?" Drake's eyes widened. "Don't be sorry. He's a total bitch so it's okay to yell at him." Ohm defended me. "Okay, fine. Ohm's grandpa doesn't like the fact that Ohm's gay, so he decided to set him up with Love. I got mad because of that. And I also got angry at Love because she just accepted her fate like that. I mean, they already knew that Ohm's gay, and has a boyfriend, and the boyfriend was right there in the room with them, but they were still willing to get set up with him." I explained to them. "And you opening my eyes is the reason I love you." Love added. "No, you're not falling in love with my boyfriend. He has a boyfriend. Boyfriend. He's gay." Ohm looked mad. I'll be too if someone said they're falling in love with him. "Hmm. Maybe you're not in love with him." Perth said. "Maybe it's a pure admiration. You know, because he saved you. So now you feel comfortable around him. But it's not love. It's admiration. Maybe you need to organize your feeling first without troubling anyone." he suggested. We fell silent. "Love, you're about to go back to your faculty, right? Let me take you there." Drake offered. Love nodded and off they go. "That bitch really irritated me." Ohm said. "I know. I'm sorry. Please don't get mad. I'll make it up to you later." I said in a seductive tone, touching his arm. "Oh, eeww.. eww... eewwww...." Perth tried to cover his ears. We laughed and went back to class.

A Few days later...

Sea and p'Jim invited us to lunch. We didn't have any class that afternoon so we agreed to meet them at the cafe at the mall. "Nanon, have you heard any news about the renewing contract?" P'Jim asked. "No, not yet. I asked dad but he said not to worry about it. Which made me worry about it even more." I frowned. "Well, there's a thin line difference between brave and stupid." Sea told me. "And which one am I?" Sea didn't answer. "You suck." I pouted. "Don't worry Non, for me you're still the bravest person I've ever met." Ohm hugged me. 

We finished our lunch, said goodbye to Sea and p'Jim, and were about to head back to campus. "Ohm, wait for a minute, okay. I'm gonna go to the bathroom." He nodded. I went to the bathroom to pee. The bathroom is quiet. I finished peeing, and washed my hand when suddenly I saw from the mirror, a group of huge men in black suit blocking the door. I remembered one of them was the one who asked Ohm to meet his grandpa. So these group of men is Ohm's grandpa's bodyguards. "Oh no, this is bad." I tried to keep calm. I was about to reach for my cellphone, when one of them approached me while holding a handkerchief. He saw me reaching for my cellphone and grabbed it. I was about to shout and run, but he held me from behind and put the handkerchief around my mouth and nose. I struggled and tried to fight him. "Young master, please don't fight us and you won't get hurt." I started to fade, inhaling what I assumed was a sleeping gas or something. "Good. Just inhale it." My body feels weak and I started to lose consciousness. 

Ohm's POV

Nanon took a long time. He went to the toilet almost fifteen minutes ago. I decided to go to the toilet but he wasn't there. Weird. I tried calling his cellphone but it's off. Why would he turned off his cellphone? I asked the janitor if he's seen Nanon, telling him the description of him. "Oh, there was a group of men carrying a sleeping boy. But when I asked them what's going on, they said the sleeping boy was their young master and left in a hurry. I'm not sure since I didn't see the boy's face clearly. But if you want, you can go to the security to looked at the cctv footage." the janitor showed me the way to the security office. I went there and asked to look at the footage. They showed it to me. I can see clearly that he was carried out of the bathroom by a group of bodyguards, and I remembered them as my grandpa's bodyguards. So my grandpa kidnapped Nanon. But why? What's the purpose? Is he going to hurt Nanon? I tried calling him but he rejected it. I looked at another footage, from a different cctv, and saw their lisence plate. I took a picture of it. Hmm, who should I call at a time like this? Should I call his dad? I was about to call someone when my cellphone rang.

Nanon's POV

I stirred. The bed is so comfy. And smells like summer breeze. I stirred again. Wait. Stirred? I was supposed to have lunch with Ohm. Sea. P'Jim. I started opening my eyes. It's blurry. I tried to focus and looked at the unfamiliar ceiling. Where am I? I got startled and woke up. I saw the unfamiliar room. I looked around, and there in the middle of the room, is Ohm's grandpa, sitting on the coffee table, peeling an apple. Huh? Peeling? Apple? Maybe I'm still dreaming. "Oh, the little brat is finally awake." He said in a cold tone. "Huh? Where am I?" I'm still confused. "You're at my house. If you want to know the exact location, this is my daughter's room." His daughter's room? His dead daughter's room? I just slept on his dead daughter's bed? Okay, this is creepy. So creepy. "Huh?" I got nervous, my heart is thumping. Is he going to hurt me? "Now, now, now. What should I do with you?" He stabbed the apple. "Mister.. uhm.. mr.Break, please don't... please don't hurt me." I stuttered so bad. This is crazy and scary. "Now, you're scared? You were so brave the other day, calling me names." He pulled the knife out of the apple. He walked closer to me. "Please.. please don't hurt me. Don't... don't come any closer. Please..." I tried to get up but my legs are still weak, I ended up falling from the bed. I closed my eyes, waiting for something to happen. He chuckled. Chuckled? "Just kidding. This is actually one of the guest room." He laughed. Laughed? Huh? "You should've seen the look on your face." He laughed again. I took a deep breath. "Mr.Break, this is not funny, why are you doing this?" I puffed up my cheeks. For a second I really thought I was gonna die. "I just want to talk to you. Come here. Can you get up?" He reached out, and I took his hand, getting up from the floor. He led me to the sofa and we sat on it. "How are you? Here, have some apple." He offered some apple to me and I took it. "Well, not so good. For a second I thought I was gonna die. When you said this was your daughter's room, I thought you were going to kill me here and made Ohm watched. The joke is too far." I sulked, biting a piece of apple. "Well, this is a little payback for last time. You yelled at me and called me names. Even yelled at me to just die already. That wasn't a good experience." He has a point. "Umm. I'm so sorry about that. I just wanted to protect Ohm. I actually planned on seeing you to apologize in person but Ohm forbade me." He nodded. "Actually, I just want to talk to you. But it's so much more fun to kidnap you like this. Imagine Ohm panicking right now." Okay, who knows that turns out Ohm's grandpa is a prankster. "Oh God, I should call Ohm and dad." I looked for my cellphone but couldn't find it. "Relax, your dad is on his way here. And so is Ohm."  He smiled.

"Hmm. Okay. If you said so. What do you want to talk about?" I asked him. "Hmm. How should I say this. I need your advice on something. I... hmm.. I..." he got lost for words. "Hmm?" I'm confused. "Umm.. me.. Ohm.." he took a deep breath. "Well, these past few days, I've been thinking. Umm.. Ohm is my grandson, and I want to.... get to know him better? But.. umm.. do you think it's too late?" He asked me. I dropped my jaw. Okay, this is surprising. I'm taken aback. "Umm. If you asked me, I really have no idea if he's going to forgive you or not. But Ohm that I fall in love with will definitely forgive you. He has nothing but love for you. Even when you act like a ....." I stopped. "You can say it, I act like a bitch." He said it himself. "I was about to say jerk. But maybe you need to tell Ohm first about what you want. And let him decide on his own." I smiled. "But I'm pretty sure he's going to forgive you. Now, can I get my cellphone back?" I asked him. "Say please." He teased me. "Please mr.Break, can I have my cellphone back?" I played along. "No. You need to call me grandpa." Huh? "Please grandpa Break." He laughed and hand me back my cellphone. I texted Ohm so he won't get worried. "Oh, by the way, grandpa. How long?" Now he's confused. "I mean, there's no way you can time it right. Me waking up while you were peeling apple. You must've done that for quiet some time." I laughed. I can joke around too. "Hahahaha, you're clever and foul mouthed all right. But yes, I've prepared it for like half hour. You took a long time to wake up. You know, according to the dose, you should wake up for like, an hour ago." He laughed. "You know, my options were between me peeling apple, or me staring out the window to look wiser." He pretended to act cool. "I waited for you to wake up. I peeled a lot of apples while waiting. So much, and now my bodyguards will have apple pie for their dessert tonight." We laughed. 

"Grandpa Break, can I ask you one thing?" He nodded. "Why sudden change of mind? Are you dying or something?" I asked. "Hmm. Do you wanna hear a story?" I nodded. "This all started when I married my late wife. We wanted to have a child for a long time. We did everything. We went to a lot of doctors, and stuffs, and finally, we got pregnant. When my daughter was born, we were so happy. She was our miracle baby. We loved her so much. We went through a lot together, including when my wife passed away. When she decided to marry Chane, everything was fine. They got Mew, their first born, and we were happy. Until she got pregnant with Ohm. Her health decreased, she got sick a lot. I asked her to terminate her pregnancy but she won't do it, saying that she loved her unborn child so much, she'd rather die for him. And that was exactly what happened. Ohm was born, and she died. So whenever I saw Ohm's face, it reminded me that my daughter was no longer here. She won't grow old. She won't be with me anymore. It angered me, triggering me to said those harsh things to him. I resent him in every single way. But, that night, at the party, I wanted to make up with him, that was why I attended. But then, I saw Chane bringing his new much younger boyfriend so openly, and I saw Ohm bringing you, and I felt sad. I remembered about my daughter again, and how Chane can love anyone he want, and how he had moved on from my daughter, and how my daughter won't see her sons growing up and now capable of loving someone. It was a lot of mixed emotions in one heart. That led to a bad decision, setting up Ohm with Love. But then you yelled at me, and something dawned on me. On how much I'm missing out on Ohm's life. And what my daughter would've wanted. Everything just lined up. So in a way, I have to thank you for what you did. You know, you got nerve, yelling at me like that." He smiled. "I said I was sorry. But I really couldn't stand it when someone was being mean to Ohm like that. He's a nice guy, you know. You really missed out so much. If you want to get to know him better, this is your chance. I think he's going to like that. Hmm... Can I give you one advice?" he nodded. "My dad once said something like this, 'you don't lose your dad, but gained another dad that loves you.' but I know the situation is different. So, you may have lost your daughter, but you gained a wonderful grandson that loves you, and wants to be loved by you. Don't let your resentment get in the way of that. You know that you can always choose to be happy." I smiled too. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and the bodyguard came in.

"Right this way, sir." The bodyguard led my dad to the room. "Good afternoon mr.A." grandpa Break greeted my dad. "Good afte.. Nanon, what are you doing here?" Dad looked surprise. I run towards him and hugged him. "Umm well.. Grandpa Break kidnapped me. But I'm okay now." I hugged him again. "Kidnapped? Care to explain what happened?" He asked grandpa Break. "Just a little payback for calling me a bitch and yelled at me to die and meet my daughter. But I actually just want to talk to Nanon." Grandpa Break explained. "Okay, and how do you think I'm going to react to you kidnapping my son?" Dad got angry. "You're gonna get angry?" Grandpa Break stayed cool. "Exactly. Nanon, let's go." He pulled me to go with him. "Wait. What if... for my apology.. I give you a much bigger and better contract?" Dad stopped. "Meaning?" He turned around. "Well, I have this one private island, a huge one. And I planned on turning it into a tourism attractions. You know, build a hotel resort, theme park, maybe some zoo, or aquarium, or some rain forest garden or something. We also need shopping mall, supermarket, and hospital, and some restaurants, just for daily life." He started explaining the project. "And I could give you a deal, a very special deal, where A group is going to exclusively handle every projects there." Okay, now I shuddered. That is a very huge deal. "Hmm. One second." Dad turned to me. "Nanon, are you really all right? He doesn't hurt you, like, at all?" I nodded. "Grandpa Break only wanted to talk to me, but his way was a little bit extreme. But I'm totally fine, not a single scratch on my body." I smiled. Dad turned back to grandpa Break. "And can you promise me that this kind of thing won't happen again in the future?" Grandpa Break nodded. "Hmm, okay then. Let's talk business." Dad walked back to the room and sat on the sofa. 

Suddenly, the door opened, and the bodyguard entered the room. "Mr.Break, this is bad. Mr.Ohm got into a car accident while he was on his way here. He drove too fast. You need to go to the hospital now." Grandpa Break turned pale. "We... we really need to go. Ohm.." Suddenly, Ohm entered the room. Grandpa Break looked confused. "Ohm, you're okay. But he said you were in the.... wait a minute. You, you guys pranked me. My bodyguard pranked me. How dare you." He sat on the sofa again, looking relieved. "A little payback for kidnapping my boyfriend." Ohm smiled, walked towards me and hugged me. "I'm so glad you're okay." He stroked my hair. "Wait, you all knew about this?" Grandpa Break asked. "Well, I've been texting with Ohm this whole time." I said. "And I met Ohm at the entrance and he explained it to me." dad added. "So you guys decided to gang up on me. How clever." He laughed. "You've been texting him this whole time? How?" I nodded. "Well, that's one of his super power. He can look at his cellphone without actually looking at it." Ohm looked proud. "But grandpa, that was a little bit extreme what you've done. Lucky nobody got hurt, or called the police. And Nanon told me you just want to talk to him. About what?" Ohm asked. "Hmm. It's a secret?" Grandpa Break tried to avoid the question. "Oh, he's going to tell me anyway. Come on just tell me." Ohm pressed him to tell. "Okay, fine. I wanted to ......" he mumbled. "Wanted to what?" Ohm asked again. "I wanted to get to know you better. God, that was embarassing." Grandpa Break looked like he really don't know what to do. Ohm looked surprised. "Do you really mean that?" He asked. "Yes. After a specific someone told me to go meet my daughter, I started thinking about my grudge, and how it got in the way of my happiness, and how I want to get to know you better. And who knows you better than someone who stand up for you, telling me to go to hell." He smirked at me. "I said I was sorry." I said, puffing my cheeks. "Hmm. Okay. We can totally do that. I'd like to get to know more about my grandpa too." He smiled. "Okay then, how about we have dinner here. Mr.A, you can ask your husband to join us. I'll call Chane and Mew to join us too. How about that?" We ended up having dinner at grandpa Break's house and left after that. "I'm so glad we could finally bury the hatred." Ohm said to his grandpa before we left his house. Grandpa Break hugged him. "Me too, kiddo, me too." 

Ohm drove back to his apartment. And I cuddled him that night. He was so happy he could finally make peace with his grandpa. This is going to be exciting. 

Extra Scene 

This took place when Drake accompanied Love back to her faculty.

Drake's POV

Wow, Love is so pretty, and elegant. The way she walked, the way she talked, really made my heart thumping like crazy. "Drake, I'm bored. Do you want to skip class and go somewhere?" She asked me. "Hmm, where do you have in mind?" I will always say yes to skipping class. "Hmm. Maybe we can watch a movie or something?" She suggested. "Okay, then. Let's go." We walked to my car. "Love, can I ask you something?" I drove my car out of the campus. "Sure, go ahead." She gave a green light. "Why do you have to pursue Nanon like that? I mean, for one, you know he's gay. And two, he already has Ohm." I don't know why I asked her that, when I know it's none of my business. "Hmm. Can I trust you with one secret?" I nodded. "I never loved Nanon. I only did that to tease him, to bother him and Ohm. A little payback because he called me spineless." She laughed. "Honestly, Nanon's not my type. I mean, he's super cute. My type is someone rugged, someone who's a little bit rough around the edges." We arrived at the movie theater and watched a romcom. I paid for the tickets and for the snacks. "Drake, you don't have to. I was the one who asked you out. Come on, let me pay you back." She offered. "Nope. What kind of guy do you think I am. I won't let a lady pay for me. Come on, let's go inside and enjoy the movie." I offered my hand and she took it. We walked in silent and entered the teather. I think it's a good start of something new.
