Chapter 7

16:59, 10 March 2025

The height of Hololive Headquarter towered over him, he catches his breath as he fixes his collar. The light reflected on the windows, making the place more intimidating that it actually is.

I need to make a good impression. He spoke to himself as he straightened his back, a small smile formed in his lips.

He pushed open the door, in the first floor the receptionist area was sleek, spacious, modern and surprisingly quiet for such a company. A large Hololive logo greeted him from a wall, a cheerful receptionist smile was warm as he approached her.

"Good morning! How can I help you?" Her voice warm as Y/N made his way to the table.

"I have a meeting with Yagoo this morning." He replied, his voice firm.

"Oh! Are you perhaps the new manager?" The receptionist clapped her hand, at the same time tilting her head.

"Yes, that's me."

The receptionist handed him a ID badge, gesturing towards the hallway in the left, "His office are that way, just follow the corridor and you'll be there." She spoke before cherishing him with a smile again. "Welcome to the team!"

Y/N bowed down, saying his thank to the receptionist. He started to make his way towards Yagoo's Office, the walk felt longer that it probably was, his heart race with every step he took. Along the way he met with another staff members, which he greeted and introduced himself as the new staff.

After what felt like eternity, he arrived in front of Yagoo's Office, he knocked on the door and immediately receive an answer from inside.

"Get in!" Yagoo's voice gentle voice could be heard.

Y/N opened the door, slowly but surely, his heart raced even faster than before. His eyes met with Yagoo's, the piercing cold gaze he felt that day gone, replaced by gentler gaze. Isn't this the same person I've met in that bar before? He thought to himself as he takes a closer look towards Yagoo

"Have a seat, Y/N-kun." Yagoo speaks, his voice gentle yet firm.

The two stared at each other eyes, with Y/N whom confused by the man demeanor, while Yagoo whom surprised at how polished Y/N look despite the dark circle under his eyes.

"Thank you for the opportunity you gave me, Tanigo-san." Y/N said, bowing his head down.

"It's enough, don't need to lower your head like that." He replied reaching his hand towards Y/N's shoulder, patting it gently. "As I said that day, you'll need to balance chaos that happened in my company, and I hope you're ready for that."

Y/N smiled before giving an answer. "I'll do my best to keep up."

"That's all I need to hear." Yagoo smile widened hearing Y/N's answer, "Let's get to the point. So you'll managing one of my talents, help her with her streaming, watching over her stream, providing her support, managing their schedule and etc." Yagoo then pulled out sheets of paper, a data of the talent's manager.

"Let me see..." He looked around the papers. "So for now you'll be managing Nekomata Okayu for around two to three months, and you'll manage another talent after that. Sounds good?"

Okayu? Nekomata Okayu? It feels like I'm familiar with that name. He thought to herself, the time he heard Okayu, "Yes, I'll do my best!" He turned his attention to Yagoo again.

"Good luck and..." Yagoo offered his hand. "Welcome to Hololive."

Y/N grabbed Yagoo's hand, shaking it firmly. Relief washed all over him, a smile popped from his face, the joy of having new job filled his whole body and mind.

As he stepped out from Yagoo's office, the sense of relief that had washed all over him just a few moments ago turned into anticipation as he take the elevator to another floor where he'll met with Hololive talents.

Nekomata Okayu... The name echoed inside his mind, it felt familiar like he know the name but he didn't remembered where and when.

The elevator dinged, the door slowly slid open, revealing a vibrant hallway filled with energy as he saw couple of girls hanging in the hallway. He made his way, searching for any clues of Nekomata Okayu, where he can find her.

As he walks in the hallway, slowly closing the distance between him and the group of girls that hanging out in the hallway, they noticed him and approached him.

"Ara, are you the new manager?" One of the girls, tall with a blonde hair and a horn take another step closer to him. "You're quite handsome."

"Yes I a-"

"Choco-sen! Stop that!" One of them step up, stopping the blonde one from getting closer to Y/N. "I'm sorry, Manager-san." The same girl with a short black hair spoke, scratching the back of her head.

"Well, Manager-san, you can go to the infirmary if you want to meet me..." The blonde one winked, at the same time licking her lips.

"Excuse us..." The other one with the short hair dragged the blonde together with her, leaving the hallway.

Another one whom had been giggling watching the interactions come closer to Y/N, her brown hair shimmering under the light.

"So, you're the new manager, huh?" The brown-haired girl smiled, "Well Manager-san, I'm Tokino Sora, nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you, Tokino-san." Y/N speak, introducing himself. "Please do not hesitate to reach me If you need any help."

"I'll definitely do that." She smiled again, tilting her head to the side. "And by the way, you can call me Sora like the others."

Sora, she is really calm and cool, what a girl Y/N spoke to himself, admiring Sora.

"Well then, see you later!" She waved before walking down the hallway.

"Oh yeah, do you know where Nekomata Okayu is?" Y/N asked, stopping Sora in her track.

"She's usually at her room in this hour." Sora replied.

"Do you know where can I found her room?" Y/N asked again.

"Let's go together then, I'm afraid that you'll get lost." Sora speak gesturing him to follow her. "And don't worry, I'm heading in the same way anyway."

As he followed Sora along the way, he couldn't shake the feelings of the familiar name, he tried to remember where and when but found no answer inside his head. The anticipation built in with each step, he wondered if this talent are someone he knew in the past.

"Here we are." Sora said stopping in front of a door with a colourful sign name, she smiled once again at Y/N. "Good luck, Manager-san! I'm sure she will be happy to meet you."

He nodded, and after that Sora leave him alone in front of Okayu's room, he hesitated before knocking on the door but eventually his hand connects with the wooden door.

"Come in!"

Y/N pushed the door open, revealing a figure shorter than him whom sitting on a gaming chair, her back turned to him as she takes off her headset. A fluffy purple tail swinging from side to side playfully. The girl, Nekomata Okayu spun around in her chair to face him, her warm smile welcoming but quickly shifted as she saw his face.

Her purple eyes widen in disbelief, "No way..." Her voice stuttered as if it couldn't come out from her throat.

There's a faint of familiarity hitting him the moment his eyes met with Okayu's. he tried to remember but...

Okayu without any hesitation jumped to him, hugged him without thinking twice, her arms wrapped around him as if not wanting to let go.

"You...you're really here..." She hugged him tightly, her voice trembled. "After all these years..."

He stood frozen, overwhelmed by the sudden embrace. His mind raced trying to piece up the memories of her, her soft unique voice, the familiarity of her face, the warmth of her hug...it all started to come back.

"It's me, Y/N-chan...it's me." She muttered, her voice almost like a whisper.

"Okayu..."

She pulled back slightly, her eyes locking with his, "How could you forget?" A soft chuckle escaped from her, but her eyes shimmered with emotions.

Y/N blinked, all the memories rushed to his brain, the carefree laugh, the time he spent with her exploring the forest, catching bugs and fishes, the promise the two made.

"Y/N-chan! Look at what I found, it's the bug you've been searching!" A kid with glowing purple eyes shouted at Y/N.

"Look, Okayu! I catch us some fishes too!" Y/N replied showing off the fishes he catches to Okayu.

"You're the best!"

Okayu rushed to Y/N holding the bug carefully in her hand before handing it to Y/N whose he immediately put it in a jar, Okayu smiled widely despite how dirty she looks, the smile in her face shined deeply inside Y/N.

Y/N able to lit a fire using two stones whom make Okayu amazed by him, clapping her hand at the sight of fire her friend created.

The fish taste really good that day, Y/N still remembered the savoury and sweetness of the fish and how happy Okayu looks that day.

"I never forget about you, Y/N-chan." Okayu speaks, her voice clearer now. She pulled out from the hug, her eyes met with his again, her lips frowned not being able to see the same eyes again.

"I'm sorry for not replaying your letters."
