CHAPTER 18

15:22, 12 December 2025

Y/N's POV

"That's okay... but I think both of them should meet each other once," my mom said, glancing at me.

"Yes, you're right," Mrs. Jeon replied. "But they can also meet on their engagement day. Is that fine with you?" she asked, turning to me gently.

I nodded. "It's totally fine."

"That's great, dear," Mrs. Jeon said warmly. "Then let's meet again on the engagement day of you and my son." She smiled lovingly at me.

I forced a smile back, pretending I was happy even though my heart felt heavy.

Mrs. Jeon was about to leave, but before going, she stepped closer, cupped my cheek, and said softly, "Take this. It's my son's number. You can call him anytime." She placed a small folded note in my hand.

"O-Okay... once again, thank you, eomma," I said and bowed politely.

After the Jeon family left, we also headed back home.

Jungkook's POV

I was in my office, buried in paperwork, when a knock interrupted the silence.

"Come in," I said.

Riya stepped inside and sat in the chair across from me.

"What happened, Riya? Isn't school over?" I asked without looking up.

"Mr. Jeon..." she began softly. "You know I don't want you to get hurt. I don't want to see you like this. Whatever it is, you can share it with me."

My brows furrowed. "What are you talking about, Riya?"

She leaned forward, her expression filled with fake concern. "Jeon... I know you have feelings for Y/N. But she doesn't love you. She's cheating on you with her boyfriend."

A sharp pain stabbed my chest. My blood boiled instantly.

"So what do you want me to do?" I asked, trying to control my anger.

"Jeon... let's go somewhere. You'll feel better," she said, reaching for my arm.

I pulled back. "Riya, leave me alone."

But she shook her head stubbornly. "No, Jeon. I love you. I can't let you suffer."

Before I could react, she grabbed my wrist and dragged me out of my office toward the compound cafeteria.
