44. Avengers: Infinity War (4)
19:15, 22 November 2024I spotted three creatures going for T'Challa, but he wasn't looking in their direction. Sprinting over to him, I yelled,
"Duck!"
Once T'Challa did as I asked, I flipped over him and stabbed the three aliens with force field spears. I let out a breath of relief as T'Challa gave me a nod in gratitude, but the aliens kept coming. Wanting to try something new, I expanded my force fields inside some of the creatures, causing them to explode. But it took too much energy. It started to become too much for us. Dad got surrounded by five aliens, but before I could help him, five more attacked me. I fell to the ground and covered myself with a shield, screaming as they scratched at the only thing keeping them from harming me. Through the gaps between the horde of aliens covering me, I could see everyone else was struggling, too. We were losing.
"There's too many of them!" Uncle Bruce yelled, "GYAH! AAAAHHHHH!"
Suddenly, a large beam of rainbow-hued light landed in the middle of the action. I spotted an axe flying out of the beam, and it flew around, knocking down the aliens that had been covering me. I sat up as it flew back to the light and into Uncle Thor's hand. Uncle Thor was joined by a raccoon and a walking tree, but I was so happy to see them. Uncle Bruce opened the Hulkbuster helmet, laughing with joy, "AH-hahaha! You guys are so screwed now!"
I laughed with relief as Dad helped me up, and Uncle Thor charged toward the hordes of aliens.
"BRING ME THANOS!" Uncle Thor challenged, and lightning gathered around him until he launched himself into the air and landed in the densest concentration of the aliens, causing a crater to form. The team continued to fight with all of our might. Dad and I fought side by side, working together to defeat our enemies. The aliens came at our front and back, and Dad lifted me to flip onto the creatures behind us while he attacked the ones in front. Uncle Thor made his way over to us and used his new axe to great effect. We took a quick breather, and Dad and I looked over at Uncle Thor, panting.
"New haircut?" Dad asked him, and I let out a breathy laugh before noticing more aliens coming at us. I started running up my force field steps as Uncle Thor grinned,
"Notice you've copied my beard."
Dad nodded, and while I pushed off Dad's shoulders to begin a flip, I added,
"That's what I said."
I then finished my flip and landed on the two aliens that had been in front of Dad. I turned around to face my uncle again and saw the walking tree skewer three aliens with his arm.
"By the way, this is a friend of mine. Tree," Uncle Thor said, gesturing toward the walking tree.
"I am GROOT!" The tree yelled. I waved and giggled,
"Hi."
"I... I am Steve Rogers," Dad said, and I laughed before we got back to work. After more fighting, I could hear and feel a deep rumbling, and suddenly, these giant, sharp, spinning wheels came up from the ground under the barrier. They did nothing but shred anything in their path, and T'Challa ordered everyone to run,
"Fall back! Fall back now!"
I stayed put and used my power to hold them back and prevent them from hurting more people. It took a lot of strength, and I cried out in pain from willing myself to hold them. My uncles in the air tried to find a weak spot but had no success, and the wheels were pushing me back further. Aunt Nat and Okoye covered my back, but I couldn't hold the wheels anymore, dropping to my knees. I looked up and cringed as I realized I was about to be shredded, but Wanda jumped to our aid and used her gift to throw the wheels at the hordes of aliens. I smiled and took deep grateful breaths when Okoye spoke,
"Why was she up there all this time?"
I laughed and shook my head while standing up. The four of us continued to fight, and I joined Dad on the field again. Soon after Wanda left the lab, Uncle Sam warned us over coms,
"Guys, we got a Vision situation here."
"Somebody get to Vision!" Dad ordered before we were both tackled by more creatures.
"I got him!" Uncle Bruce assured, and I saw him fly over us in the Hulkbuster. I then heard Wanda as well,
"On my way."
Dad and I fought off more enemies, but we soon heard Uncle Bruce warn us,
"Guys! Vision needs backup now!"
I looked at Dad, and we both started sprinting to Vision. Dad and I spotted Vision being raised from the ground by a tall alien, and we continued sprinting toward them. Soon, we got close enough to tackle the alien to the ground before he could hurt Vision any more than he already had. As Dad and I started to get up off the ground, Dad yelled at Vision,
"Get out of here!"
The alien attacked us, but I pushed him off with a force field, so I had enough time to turn to Vision myself and give an order,
"GO!"
Then, the two of us continued to fight the alien together. Eventually, we were able to knock his weapon out of his hand, but he threw me and Dad over an old, fallen tree that was laid behind us. With his foot firmly placed on Dad's chest, the alien grabbed my neck and lifted me off the ground. I kicked my feet around as I struggled to break free, and my sight slowly became blurry. Fortunately, Vision grabbed the alien's weapon and stabbed the blade through his chest. I was dropped to the ground as Vision raised the alien in the air before dropping him. Vision fell over from weariness, and Dad helped him stand as he reprimanded him,
"I thought I told you to go."
"We don't trade lives, Captain," Vision weakly answered, and I gave him a small smile. The three of us caught our breath, and Dad laid Vision down against the log so he could scan the area. I sat and stayed with Vision when Wanda landed beside us.
"Are you okay?" she asked Vision before turning to me, and I nodded. Vision suddenly flinched in pain before he could answer Wanda's question. "What? What is it?"
"He's here," Vision warned, and my voice shook,
"What?"
The wind started fiercely picking up, and the atmosphere felt eerie.
"Everyone, on my position," Dad commanded through coms, "We have incoming."
I walked over to stand with Dad, Aunt Nat, Uncle Sam, Uncle Bruce, Okoye, and T'Challa joined us. We all questioned the unusual atmosphere.
