Chapter 36
12:07, 26 February 2023Hana's POV
Everything seemed to slow down the more blood he drained from me. I was in a blurry haze, not unconscious but also not entirely conscious. The fight had left my body, which now felt heavy and sore, I just let him do what he wanted. It felt like hours had gone by, days, years, decades, which in reality might only have been a few minutes.
Am I about to die? Is this how death feels like?
My eyes, now feeling oh so heavy, closed. I wouldn't be able to stay conscious much longer. At least I would die the same way my friends did. My past had finally come to claim me at last.
I was so out of it that I barely even noticed the noble's heavy weight being lifted off of my body, his fangs ripped from my neck brutally. I could only grunt in protest at the sudden sensation of new pain. I tried to open my eyes but found out I couldn't no matter how hard I tried. Instead I tried to focus on my other senses, hearing most of all. There seemed to be a lot of commotion going on around me, maybe even a fight.
Has Crowley come to save me?
Of course my thoughts would go to that bloodsucker first. He had promised me that I would be safe as long as I stayed in this room. How could he not have noticed this noble creeping past his office and into my corridor? It was just as much Crowley's fault as that of the noble for me being attacked, so why would he try to help me now?
I finally managed to crank my eyes open, it was still dark in the room but now the door to the corridor was fully open, well to be more exact the door wasn't even there anymore. It was now laying on the opposite side of my room, hinges and all. The opening where the door once was was letting in enough light for me to see the two vampires in my room.It was just as I thought, Crowley had come to put an end to my suffering. Maybe he wanted to finish the deed himself. But then again, that would not explain the scene that was unfolding in front of me.
Crowley was standing over the noble, holding the noble's throat with one hand and a look of murder evident in his eyes. The noble looked not only shocked, but also afraid. He seemed to be pleading for his life, trying to save his own skin. Crowley seemed to grow more and more furious by the second until he eventually lifted the vampire up by the throat with one swift motion and pulled out his sword with his other hand.He positioned his sword ready to pierce the vampire and end his life but I finally managed to find my voice and spoke out.
"C-Crowley..." I said groggily but immediately Crowley threw the vampire into the wall, pushing his sword through the vampire's arm so he could not escape before rushing to my bed side.He did all that in a matter of two seconds. He was now on his knees beside the bed looking me over quickly before ripping off a piece of his clothes and using it to stop my neck from bleeding.I hadn't even noticed that it was still bleeding but from the way that noble's fangs had been ripped out of me so harshly I wouldn't be surprised if it did. It must not have been a too dangerous of a wound because Crowley's attention soon left my neck and he focused on my face.
"Are you okay Hana?! I am so sorry, are you okay?" He fussed over me in a panic. I've never seen him like this before. He is always so laid back and calm, usually with a lazy smile on his face. But now he seemed panicked, afraid even."Yeah I guess." I replied quietly. I looked past Crowley to look at the struggling noble still pinned to the floor.
"Don't kill him Crowley." I said, looking back up at him.He looked at me confused and slightly angry.
"Why not?! He almost killed you! He will be punished accordingly, the penalty will be death." He said, sounding frustrated and even a bit scared?
"He is one of the nobles that killed my friends, I want to end him myself." I tell him, testing if he would allow me this or not.
Crowley was quite for a moment before looking back over his shoulder and then back at me."Of course, his useless life will be yours for the taking little mouse. I think I might even know where to find the second associate to your friends murder, and their henchmen." Crowley replied darkly. A smile of pure evil creeping onto his face.
"W-wait lord Crowley! You can't mean this! She is livestock! If I had known she meant more to you than that I would never have touched her I swear! It is all a misunderstanding. Ivon told me that she was just a pet!" The noble fumbled with his words, trying his best to get out of the grave he dug himself but there was no going back now.
"Silent Vlad, I had expected more from you as an elder, but you are no better than the dust collecting on a bookshelf." Crowley said harshly which made the noble, no... Vlad, immediately shut up.
Crowley turned back to me, his eyes softening. "I'll make sure everything gets arranged for you my little mouse, but you are in no state to do anything now. Let me put this cockroach away until you feel better okay?" He said it like a question but he was already making his way the Vlad without needing my answer. He was right though, I was in no state to kill a vampire, let alone a noble, or even two if Crowley indeed knew where the other one was.
I had lost quite a lot of blood but would survive if I am to trust Crowley's judgement, it might take some days though to get back on my feet. As Crowley dragged the pleading vampire away from my room I felt like I could finally breath again, I had survived. I felt my comrades looking down on me from wherever their souls now were waiting for vengeance, they would be at peace soon.
