Chapter 56: A painful hope
01:51, 10 October 2018Hato's P.O.V.
Syaoran threw a sword in my direction as my feet hit the tree behind me. I quickly jumped out of the way and onto the next tree, allowing the sword to cut right through the one I was first on. The kid didn't stop throwing swords in my direction, so I kept jumping onto trees until he pulled out a gun from nowhere and started shooting at me. Now, from the fact that this is a gun he was shooting, I knew that I couldn't dodge it. So instead, I pulled out one of my guns and started deflecting the bullets. After doing this for a few minutes, Syaoran finally decided to use magic.
He shot a huge ball of fire in my direction, which I easily dodged. His fists and feet then went up in flames as he flew in my direction. I quickly pulled out to guns from my side and placed them down. I started shooting at him a lot, but he kept dodging each bullet. As I kept shooting, I pulled out more guns and started shooting him from those. He couldn't get close to me anymore, which made me smile. Until I realized that he was no longer looking at me, but at the top of the wall.
"Chelsea!" I yelled.
Syaoran looked back at me and flew above my bullets as two huge swords tried to slash him. I aimed my guns toward him as I sensed Chelsea running to my side.
"It seems like his thoughts aren't at the feather at the moment," Chelsea told me.
"No," I said," He's still thinking about it. But I think he has a plan."
Chelsea looked at me confused as I continued to shoot the guns at my side.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"I think he's going to attack the Survey corps," I told her.
I heard her gasp as I fixated my eyes on Syaoran. He was dodging all the bullets now at an alarming speed. The kid was now getting closer, really quickly.
"What do we do about that?" Chelsea asked.
Syaoran was now right in front of me was about to kick me, until Chelsea pulled out a giant sword and swung it at him. He got hit and was flung back into the wall.
"Hey," Chelsea said to him," Don't interrupt our conversation."
Another sword appeared in Chelsea's hand as I continued to shoot at the kid. She then threw it at him. I smiled to myself, thinking this would do some damage. But was I wrong. Instead, Syaoran grabbed a sword out of nowhere and swung it at the sword heading his way. The sword switch directions and flew into the top of the wall at mach, um, 50? Eh, probably. When it crashed into the edge of the wall, Chelsea looked up at it and squinted.
"I think the Survey Corps was over there," she said," I hope nobody got hit."
I nodded my head while putting the guns away. Syaoran slowly pushed himself off the wall and looked up at both of us. When he did, a chill ran down my spine. He was looking at the two of us with a sickening grin. A grin that only told you that he was up to no good.
Suddenly, Syaoran pulled out a huge gun and started shooting it in the direction of the wall. My eyes followed the bullets until they landed on a person. And this person was falling.
"Who's that?" I asked Chelsea.
"I don't know," I heard Chelsea reply.
I looked back at Syaoran, then the guy falling. It was difficult figuring out who it was until my eyes caught sight of his blonde hair. My eyes widened when I realized that Syaoran was targeting this person.
"ARMIN!" I screamed as I ran in his direction.
Syaoran continued to shoot at him, causing me to try to run faster than I've ever done before. But no matter how hard I tried, I knew that I wouldn't get there in time. But I still ran. I ran and ran and even when my legs felt on fire, I ran. I kept my gaze on Armin as he continued to fall. No matter what happened, I would not let him get hurt. Not today, when I'm alive and able to fight.
Suddenly, I felt something lift me up slightly. I didn't think much of it, just that it was helping me reach Armin. My feet stopped moving as I was being lifted further up in the air. I continued to move as quickly as possible.
As I did this, I could see a huge arrow going in his direction. My eyes widened as I tried to move quicker. Everything seemed to go in slow motion for me as I got closer and closer to Armin. My mind couldn't think of anything else until the sickening sound of the arrow impaling the body could be heard throughout the entire area. I saw Armin's eyes widen when he heard it as I gave him a reassuring smile. Blood dripped out of my mouth slowly as pain flowed throughout my entire body.
The arrow had impaled me.
I looked at Armin with a soft smile on my face as tears started to appear in his eyes. My smile wasn't just for him, but for me. I had gotten there just in time, and that made me so happy. But that didn't stop the tears from coming to my eyes. Blood started to pour out of my wound, causing me to start to lose consciousness. Armin's eyes were filled with fear and concern as my eyes started to close. I gave him one last smile before completely losing consciousness.
Pain filled my body as I opened my eyes to see that I was in a giant water bubble. My eyes widened once I saw this, for I had recognized it. It was the dream I had when I transformed into a titan. The one where I saw another version of myself and the feather.
I started to look around the area, but it was just pitch black. Nothing else. I looked down at myself to make sure I was okay, only to see that I was in a pure white dress, and there was a huge wound in my stomach. I wrapped my arms around it and curled into a ball, trying to keep the blood in. But the blood didn't stop pouring out. It circled around me and started going to the surface of the bubble. The blood started covering the surface, so I no longer could see out of it.
My lungs started to sting, pleading for air. I covered my mouth with one of my hands, trying to keep myself from exhaling. The pain in my stomach started to grow even worse, making me want to scream in pain. Until a hand pushed its way through the blood and into the bubble. I immediately grabbed the hand and expected it to pull me out, but instead, it pulled itself in.
My eyes widened, but then a bright light surrounded my and consumed the two of us. I closed my eyes to try and keep the light out, but the light immediately died down. My eyes opened quickly when I realized I was no longer in the bubble. I was expecting heaven, but my eyes only saw my hands open and around the blue charm from earlier. Suddenly, I threw my hands out, causing the charm to grow into the staff with the feather in it. I grabbed it, letting another light consume me.
Suddenly, a harsh wind started surrounding me. It did for a while until my feet came in contact with the ground. I opened my eyes slowly to see that I was wearing my magical girl outfit, and I was outside Wall Maria. The wound in my stomach was completely healed. Well, not completely. There was probably still a scar there.
"Hato?" I heard someone say behind me.
I turned around to see Armin sitting on the ground with tears in his eyes. You could tell that he was confused, relieved, and scared all at the same time, and honestly, I don't blame him.
"What is it, Armin?" I asked him.
Suddenly, Armin shot up from the ground and engulfed me into a hug. It surprised me for a second before I realized why. Tears were pouring out of his eyes, and he was hugging me so tightly that it seemed like he was about to lose me.
He started to tighten a grip a little bit as he cried. I just stood there, wondering what I should do. His embrace was warm and comforting, but I knew that I wasn't the one who needed it.
I slowly hugged him back, surprising him a little.
"It's okay," I said while releasing him," I'm fine."
Armin let go of me and looked down into my eyes. His ocean blue ones looked into my red ones as I flashed him a smile.
"Everything will be fine," I reassured him," I'm not dead, and you're okay. So we're fine, right?"
Armin looked at me a little surprised but nodded his head. I smiled and turned around to look at Syaoran, who was in the middle of fighting Chelsea. Slowly, I took a deep breath and held the staff in front of my body.
The staff started to glow a light brown as I put as much energy in it as I could. I kept my eyes closed as a small breeze came from the staff. After about a few minutes, when the staff was fully charged, I opened my eyes and let all of the power out.
Suddenly, the ground started to shake. Syaoran and Chelsea looked down at the ground, but as they did, pillars of land flew out of the ground and hit Syaoran. Syaoran flew up into the sky as more pillars flew after him. My eyes widened when I realized that I was doing this, but it really didn't surprise me that much. The power within the feather was so strong that I didn't need to use much strength just to destroy the walls.
Syaoran started using the flying pillars as a way to get over to me. He jumped on the tips of the pillars extremely quickly until he was only a few meters away from me. Syaoran jumped off of the last pillar, pulled a sword out of nowhere, and swung it at me. I quickly grabbed my staff and held it up just in time for the sword to hit it. We stayed like that for a few minutes before I threw him back and surrounded myself in wind. The wind kept getting harsher and harsher until I threw it at him. The wind threw Syaoran back, extremely far away, while I could sense a lot of people staring at me.
"Hato!" I heard Chelsea yell.
I turned to look at her, only to be tackled into a hug.
"That was AWESOME!" she beamed.
"Uh, thanks," I said," Can you get off me now?"
"Huh?" Chelsea said before realizing she was on top of me," Oh, yeah!"
Chelsea jumped off of me and held her hand out. When I grabbed it, she pulled me up and smiled.
"Seriously though," she said," That was amazingly powerful! When did you learn to do that? And when did your transformations look like a stereotypical magical transformation?"
"Wait, what?" I asked.
"I mean," she started," As soon as I saw it, I thought of Madoka Magica and Sailor Moon and Symphogear and..."
"Okay, I get your point," I said," But don't get distracted so quickly. That kid can come back at any....."
Right before I finished my sentence, a giant spear flew in between us. I looked over to where the spear came from to see exactly what I expected. Syaoran was standing there with an extremely angry look on his face. I got in a fighting stance, ready to attack, only to be surprised when a beam of light appeared in between us and Syaoran. When the light disappeared, I was surprised.
"Petra?" I asked
Hi guys! Hope you're enjoying this story! So, as you've probably guessed, I'm doing a sequel to this book! I've already decided what the next dimension is going to be, so no changing that. But I've decided to have a contest! It's a very simple one. All you guys have to do is send me a picture or description of your character and tell me their personality, ability (If they have one) and what their role is going to be. I'll most likely post the winner in the next book, so you'll probably have plenty of time to do it. Anyways, I hope you have a good day! Bye!
