28. promise

the next day, joshua convinced yumi that he was fine, and they ended up going to the company together. after many phone calls and discussions with seventeen's team, joshua was ready to make the announcement. he attached a few pictures of them together, making sure her face was hidden, and he started writing the caption.

joshu_acoustic: there's someone special in my life, and i'm happy to finally share this with all of you. i'm sure you've seen pictures all over the internet which is why i'm posting this, so i could be honest with you guys. we've been together for about 7 months, and i'm so happy to call her mine. i hope you guys love, respect and support us <3

with one final look at yumi, she nodded to him and he finally clicked post. the world immediately exploded, his followers flooded the comment section with congratulations and love. there were also a few negative comments, but joshua and yumi knew this would happen. it didn't matter to them anymore.

"god, this feels so good!" joshua let out a breath.

yumi laughed. "i know, i can't believe we finally did it."

"wanna celebrate?" joshua placed his hand on hers.

"what do you have in mind?" she smiled at him.

"dinner?"

"okay."

joshua dropped yumi at her place and went back to his dorm to get ready. yumi took a shower, dried her hair and straightened it. she put on a burgundy sleeveless dress with thin straps, black high heels, a black bag and a black leather jacket.

while joshua also took a shower, and got dressed in a long sleeved light blue dress shirt, dark grey formal pants with a black belt, and black shoes.

once joshua was ready, he made his way back to yumi's place, his heart pounding with excitement. he rang the doorbell, and within seconds, yumi opened the door.

"wow," joshua breathed, his eyes lighting up. "you look stunning."

yumi smiled, feeling a little shy. "thank you. you don't look too bad yourself."

"ready?" he asked, offering her his arm.

"lead the way," she replied, taking it with a grin.

they drove to a nice restaurant downtown, one that was quiet and intimate. the city lights twinkled outside the windows as they were seated by the window with a perfect view of the city.

the waiter arrived to take their orders, joshua ended up ordering so much food which made yumi laugh, and they spent the next few hours enjoying their meal.

as their dessert arrived, joshua reached across the table, taking her hand in his. "this feels perfect. i've never been this happy. are you happy?"

yumi squeezed his hand. "i'm really happy too. i love being with you."

"i have something for you." joshua gently let go of her hand, pulling something out of his pocket.

"what's that?" she gasped.

"this," he said, as he opened the small box in his hand. "is a promise ring. a promise that i'll love you forever. i'll always be with you, no matter what happens."

"oh my god, shua, i love it!"

he slowly placed the ring on her finger, and she stood up, giving him a peck on the lips.

"i love you." she smiled.

"i love you too."

they clinked their glasses together, sealing the moment of their shared happiness together. it felt like, in this world, it was just the two of them.
