7. You Understand Me

Here's an early chapter on account of Valentine's day! Here's some AkiSasu fluff. Enjoy!

I couldn't sleep the whole night. I was sleeping in the Senju compound. 

Alone

I don't mind being alone, but the fact that Hashirama Senju, Mito Uzumaki, Tsunade all lived here made me paranoid. 

The Hokage had apparently ordered Team 7 and Team 8 to clean my compound so that I could live in it. Hinata and I got away by sparring her place and so they took the opportunity to make it livable. 

Flashback

"I-It c-can't be." I whispered tears in my eyes.

In front of me was a huge compound with multiple Japanese styled houses surrounding the main one. The gates were open and on the wall compound was the symbol of the Senju Clan. 

I felt myself drawn towards the houses as I walked towards the main one. As weird as it sounded, I felt an aura of sorts coming from it. 

I heard Naruto call out for me but I ignored him as I touched the wood hesitantly.

My onyx black eyes widened as a warm fluttery feeling swept through my body in waves of slight euphoria. The chakra surrounding the building felt familiar and most of all very powerful. I felt it's power thrumming through my veins.

"You seem to like your house, Akina chan." The Hokage said smoking on his pipe as he gave me a warm smile.

"It feels familiar. Like I've lived here my whole life. Most of all it feels welcoming as if it's drawing me in, a moth to it's flame. Why?"

The Hokage smiled. "This whole compound was made by your grandfather. The main building you are touching was where your grandparents resided."

I gasped. "So that's why.."

"Your grandparents were very warm and welcoming. Their chakra feels the same." I nodded as I understood.

"So will you shift in here?" asked Sasuke as he came to stand next to me.

"Yes. It gives me a homely vibe. This is the closest I can get to my family, physically." I whispered in awe. After so many years, their chakra still felt so powerful I could only imagine how powerful Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju were. 

Sakura and Naruto each put their hand on my shoulder. "We cleaned the main building dattebayo! It took us the whole day." 

"There's so many buildings left to clean." Sakura whined.

I laughed lightly. "You guys have already done so much for me, you needn't do more. I'll clean up the rest."

Everyone sighed in relief.

"Well, all your stuff is already inside. Sakura chan shifted all your belongings to your room and decorated the living room and others as such." Kakashi said. 

"Arigato" I whispered softly. 

Flashback over

The odd thing about this compound was that it was situated right next to the Uchiha compound. So basically Sasuke and I were neighbors. 

I crept out of my bed as I opened the window and took a whiff of the fresh breeze flowing. I walked all the way to the roof and sat there as I stared at the moon. 

There's so much to do... And so little time.

As I glanced around I saw a lone figure sitting on the roof of the Uchiha compound, playing with a kunai.

I shunshined over there. 

"Hey Sasuke."

Sasuke narrowed his eyes as he threw a kunai at me which I caught.

"What are you doing here?" 

"I couldn't sleep. I'm assuming you couldn't either." 

"Hn. You are trespassing. I could have you arrested."

I snorted. "In this world, no one cares. Also you wouldn't do that." 

He said nothing as he took the kunai from my hand and started to play with it. I sat next to him as I stared at the beautiful moon above me which would soon play a major role in Project Tsuki no Me.

 We sat in a companionable silence until Sasuke broke it.

"Do you feel better now?"

I gave him a small smile as I answered. "No. I haven't mourned for them yet."

His naturally stoic face switched to one of curiosity as he examined me. 

"Why?"

"It's my fault. I couldn't protect them." I brought my knees up to my chest and placed my forehead on them.

"What happened?"

"We were planning to shift to Konoha as soon as we finished packing all our stuff in scrolls. We were planning to shift here when I was 11, but I pleaded them to shift back here a month before graduation because I wanted to learn more from them personally. Once we would be back they would've been swamped with missions and Clan duties. I selfishly kept them back. 

They knew an enemy was after them and they didn't inform me about him. They knew who he was and wanted protection from him. I only wonder how powerful he was."

I slightly sniffled as tears came to my eyes. Sasuke prodded me to go on.

"We were all ready for travelling to Konoha. It was only a day's travel. As we were walking in the night, my parents suddenly tensed as they drew out their weapons. My father activated his sharingan. The man told to surrender and asked me to join him or he'll kill them. I refused.  A black blur appeared in front of me ready to strike me. My mother took the blow against her sword as she started fighting him. My father handed me his backpack which ha all the scrolls inside. He gave me a special scroll which he told me to open once I reached Konoha. 

He told me to escape by tree travelling as he held the enemy back with my mom. I refused to do so and ended up fighting the man as well. Three full fledged shinobi with their special kekkei genkai against a single man who beat us. My reflexes weren't fast enough as he took out his sword and proceeded to stab me. My father took the hit as my mother wailed. She became ferocious in her attacks, determined to protect my wounded self. 

She died as well taking another hit for me. The masked man turned to me. The chakra around him was... evil and powerful. I panicked and grabbing all my stuff I tree transported to the gates of Konoha. I tried to take my parents bodies, but I couldn't. Once I reached Konoha's gates I fainted and later woke up in the hospital where I was questioned."

Sasuke remained silent as he absorbed all this information.

My tear stricken eyes widened in shock as he gave me a warm hug. I felt my face heat up and my heart started beating faster. 

"Do you want revenge on him?"

"Yes." I answered immediately. "I'll grow stronger until I can defeat him. The man who killed my family."

Sasuke tightened his grip on me. "You understand." He muttered softly under his breath. 

"That wasn't even the worst part." I whispered, my voice hoarse from all the crying I had done.

"He.. he said his original target was me. He was ordered to take me and not kill them. But since they were in the way he had to kill them. If I had gone willingly with him or done something... My parents must hate me for being so weak." I sobbed even harder trying to muffle my voice.

Sasuke forced my head to look at him. I was caught in a trance as I looked into his eyes. 

"Your parents do not hate you. They must be proud of your development. Focus on getting stronger and defeating him, just like me." He spoke softly as  slowly stopped crying.

"What's your story?" I asked him almost breathless. I knew it obviously, but I wanted to hear it from him.

He gave me a small smile as he used poked my forehead. 

My eyes widened. The famous forehead poke. He used it on me.

"I'll tell you later. Now sleep. You look like a panda with those dark circles." He didn't need to tell me twice as I fell asleep on his shoulder.

I felt him carrying me bridal style to my room as he gently placed me on my bed. I felt him leave as I let sleep overtake me. That night was when I experienced the most peaceful sleep in a long time. 

Next morning I woke up on time to reach the Hokage's office for mission details. 

Upon reaching Sakura and Naruto greeted me with a good morning as I greeted them back. I looked at Sasuke as I gave him a small smile. He smirked at me and answered back with a hn. I got a tick mark on my face. That cheeky bastard knew how much I hated that word.

God damn Uchihas and their non existent vocabulary.  

Kakashi sensei finally came and the Hokage started reading the missions available.

"Team 7, for you the new mission is to run an errand to the neighboring town, to babysit the chief counselor's boy, helping digging for potatoes.." 

"Nooooo!" Naruto yelped making an 'X' sign with his hands.

Ahh.. So the Wave mission begins. Sasuke will get his sharingan and we will save a country from poverty. Fun.

"I want to do a more exciting mission! Give us a new mission."

Team 7 sighed in relief. Naruto was the only brave one to yell at the Hokage for a new mission. 

Iruka sensei and Naruto began to banter back n forth until Kakashi hit Naruto and the Hokage started talking about different types of missions. 

"... Yesterday's lunch was pork broth noodles so today's will be miso broth." Naruto rambled on.

"LISTEN!" The Hokage shouted.

"We were listening Hokage sama." I said as Kakashi apologized.

"Earlier when you were explaining all the ranks to us I figured why don't you let us take an escort mission, a C rank. This will calm Naruto down. He's grown remarkably along with the rest of our team. He's not the prankster you once thought he was." I explained apologizing.

The Hokage considered me for a moment as he took in my words.

"Okay fine. I'll have you do a C rank mission. You'll be an escort for someone." 

"Who, who? Is it a feudal lord or maybe a princess?" Naruto got excited.

"Don't get so hasty now, Naru. It'll probably be some drunken geezer." I told him.

Sasuke looked at me wearily. "An intuition?"

I nodded my head.

"Please come in." The Hokage said.

We turned around to look at an old man with a grey beard and a bottle of sake in his hand walk in. 

"What's this? It's just a bunch of damned squirts."

The Hokage looked at me from the corner of his eye. I poked my tongue out at him.

"I guess very well." 

Step 1: 94% complete

"Particularly you with the small idiotic face. Are you really a ninja?"

I sighed as they began to line up. "It's you, Naruto." 

"I'LL KILL YOU, YOU OLD DRUNKEN GEEZER!" Naruto screamed and thrashed around as Kakashi held him by the collar of his jacket, reading his book.

"Naruto, we are supposed to protect the client. Not kill him. Team 7 we will meet at the gates within an hour. Don't be late." Kakashi stated as he disappeared in a whirl of leaves. Sakura left immediately.

I left a bunshin behind as all 3 of us began walking together towards our homes. 

"So did you guys complete tree walking, Sasuke?" I asked as I absentmindedly stared around.

"Yeah. Kakashi taught us a couple new jutsus." I nodded my head. Hopefully they will be better prepared now. Naruto was unnaturally silent.

"What's wrong Naru?" I asked confused. He should've been jumping with joy now.

Naruto suddenly looked at me with a big smile. "It's nothing dattebayo. I was just thinking."

Sasuke snorted. "The dobe can think?" 

"Urusai teme!"

They started bickering among themselves as I sighed.

Sasuke insulted Naruto's skills and it was about to get physical until I told them to shut up. I sighed.

"We shinobi and kunoichi all have our own strengths and weaknesses. Some might be good at chakra control, a few good at kenjutsu or ninjutsu. 

Sakura might not have a kekkei genkai, but she has the skills to become a medic nin which I lack. It's our weakness that our enemy exploits and that's why we have team mates. So that we all can protect each other. Sasuke and Naruto, you both make up for each others weaknesses just Like Sakura and I do.

For example, Naruto and Sasuke, you guys can go on the offence attacking the enemy nin whereas Sakura will stay back and heal anyone who gets hurt and protect the client as well. I will stay back and protect Sakura and the client. In wars usually medic nins are the first ones to be taken out. That means she needs protection. But in her way, she's protecting me too, by using her medic skills on me. You guys just need to help each other out. Otherwise we will not succeed in this mission."

Naruto gave me a big bright smile. "Hai!"

Sasuke narrowed his eyes at me. Naruto left to walk towards his home as Sasuke and I made our way to the compounds. 

"You know something." He stated. 

I nodded my head. "It's an intuition. I'll tell you all later."

"Tell me now."

I shook my head. "It's dangerous for me to know so much information. If I tell you guys, everything will get messed up."

Sasuke scowled at me. "You talk as if you know the future." 

I poke out my tongue as I internally snickered.

If only you knew..

"Don't mention anything to anyone about last night." He warned me.

"You are acting as if we did the dirty deed." I teased him.

A small shade of pink dusted his pale features. 

"Just don't say anything." He frowned at me.

"Are you scared your rep will come down among your fan girls? And what if I tell everyone the oh so great Uchiha Sasuke comforted me." 

He grabbed my hands as he forced me against a wall, his body covering mine. 

His eyes were filled with anger. "Don't you dare." He snarled.

Oh fuck I'm turned on.

NOW IS NOT THE TIME HORMONES. I screamed at myself.

I felt myself blush as I looked at him. He really was handsome.

"F- fine! I won't t-tell." 

"Why are you stuttering?"

Because you are so close to me you absolute dimwit!!!

I wanted to scream at him. I was confused as my mind started to argue with itself in turmoil.

Tease him! my devil side shouted.

No! She will die of embarrassment. my angelic voice said.

I felt myself smirk as I leaned towards his face. The devil side started to control me. My inner self hugged my angelic self and begged her to stop me from doing anything rash. She shook her head slightly.

"You let the devil win. Deal with it."

As I leaned further and further towards him, he started blushing more and more furiously. I placed my mouth next to his ear and whispered. 

"I won't tell anyone Sasuke kun." 

I looked back in time to see him shiver as he let go of me and started walking, his hands in his pocket a tiny blush still on his face.

He cleared his throat. "That never happened."

I nodded in agreement. It was a tense silence as we quickly walked towards our homes.

As soon as I reached my bedroom I stuffed my face into my pillow and shrieked. 

Fuck you hormones. That was so embarrassing.

After packing my bags I headed towards the gate. Luckily, I didn't bump into Sasuke but I could sense his chakra. He was walking slowly behind me. He didn't seem to notice me. 

Not that I cared.

"Maa, everyone's here? Let's go then." Kakashi said as he brought out his Icha Icha to read. I smirked as I took out mine as well. 

He looked at me and narrowed his single eye as I poked out my tongue in retaliation.

Naruto gave a whoop of joy. "This is my first time leaving the village. I'm so excited dattebayo!"

Tazuna frowned as he took a sip of his sake once more. 

"Will I be safe with you brats? It doesn't seem as if they can protect me." 

I ignored him as I continued to read my Icha Icha.

Sasuke and Sakura glared at the old man. 

Kakashi sighed. "You payed for a C rank mission, Tazuna san. My team and I are capable of protecting you. I'm a jounin and I'll handle anything they can't. These four brats are the best in Konoha." 

Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto swelled with pride. 

I tugged on Kakashi's vest.

"If you increase Sasuke's ego more, get ready to deal with more the attitude." I blntly stated.

Sakura let out a big laugh as Sasuke scowled at me. 

Naruto pointed at the old drunken man. "I'll be hokage, dattebayo!"

He snorted. "The day you become Hokage is the day I will sprout wings and fly."

I giggled as Kakashi held Naruto back and we began our dangerous mission.

Here we go.

I hope I didn't make Sasuke to OOC. He is a hard character to write about.
