The Party part 2

22:47, 23 July 2021

“Glad you could join the party, mr. antisocial. Jeez, hiding like a baby.”

“Don’t be mean, he and Sanemi were talking in the other room. Now they can join us, no problem.”

Sanemi quickly came out after me, luckily he had dropped our conversation off where it left off. I couldn’t possibly deal with any more stress or bothering the others about my issues. All of us then had to stand around or sit down, drinking, snacking and chatting. This party was more like a big hangout. Talking about what had all been going on lately with each of us. Such as, Uzui and his three girlfriends moving in together. Or Rengoku coming back from his cruise, even Gyomei working at a new daycare. Everyone was talking about those things, and soon enough somebody asked me.

“Well Giyuu what has been going on with you?” Iguro asked.

“I quit my job a week ago, and haven’t been doing much. I need to get a new job though, being a waiter isn’t my thing.”

“What about Tuesdays? We all hang out alot and you're always busy on Tuesdays.” Mitsuri chimed in.

“Therapy. I guess I should tell you all, since Sanemi knows now… I have therapy sessions on Tuesdays about my depression.”

“You are depressed? What could you be so depressed about?”

Now, I was definitely not expecting any response like that. It honestly made me mad, I had many reasons to be depressed. My sickness, all the losses I have had and just how lonely I have been and more. I didn’t choose to be depressed, I can’t control it, it controls me. I wasn’t going to deal with being treated like that with that statement.

“Oh I don’t know?! Being lonely? My sister's death? My best friend's death? What else do you need from me?! I didn’t tell any of you, because I didn’t want to be a bother. But it seems like I am ruining this party, so I am going to leave.”

They were shocked and speechless, I could see it on their faces. One of them spoke up though, and I wasn’t expecting him to.

“Don’t go, they are being assholes. If you want we could just head back to my room and ignore them.”

Sanemi, he was being sweet and sincere. It made my heart soar. He normally would be yelling or really rude but it seemed like at this moment he cared for me. I couldn’t be happier about that, but I was also upset from what had all just happened. I could feel my chest starting to hurt, I needed to get out of here and soon. I clutched my chest and sat down quickly, opposite of what I wanted to do.

“Giyuu are you okay? Also we didn’t mean to be hurtful, you can stay, we won’t say anything like that again.”

“No, I am okay just sick, don’t be wor-”

Then I was cut off by my coughing, it wasn’t bad at first. I coughed a bit and waved my arm about to show I was fine and not to worry. Then I started to wheeze, and Sanemi placed a hand on my shoulder with concern. Everyone was looking at me now, and it was uncomfortable. I started to cough more and slid off my chair. I was holding onto my chest with one hand and one hand on the floor. Everybody was getting worried and swarming around me. I couldn’t stop myself from coughing, it was terrible. Blood was coming up and out of my mouth now, onto the floor. Each time I coughed, more blood splattered.

“What the fuck? That’s blood! You're coughing up blood, we need to get you to a hospital!!”

I was trying so hard to stop and was able to slowly stop coughing, but my chest was still aching. I could feel it throughout my body. I struggled a lot but Sanemi helped me stand up and I faced the others. I had to tell them now, they saw me at my worst and they were scared.

“Don’t take me to the hospital, I am sick and I am already getting treatment. Nothing you guys can do…”

“We know this isn’t a cold anymore Giyuu, what is happening to you?” Uzui asked.

I couldn’t ignore the question forever, today was the day. The day I had been trying to avoid, facing the others about my cancer.

“Stage two lung cancer.”

I could hear gasps, and they were all staring into my soul. Some asked me questions, some were too shocked to speak. I had to leave, get some fresh air, without all the attention on me. So I quickly ran out and got to my car and drove off. The pain in my chest still lingering, but I had to get home. Tears were forming in my eyes and starting to stream down my face. I tried wiping them away but that slight action made me lose focus of the road. Next thing I knew was I hit my head on the steering wheel and everything went black.
