Chapter 4

20:46, 23 February 2018

" My.... mother?" Cecile could not believe what she was hearing this woman say. She lowered the knife and looked the woman over. It was the Ada she had seen. Cold and manipulative and cunning and dangerous. She could not trust anything this evil woman told her. Not after what she had done to her and Jake and Sherry. She raised the knife again in defense, then saw Ada's eyes, and lowered the knife once more. Her eyes were not the same. They did not hold the same cold and calculated look of the Ada who had betrayed her. Instead, these eyes were warm, welcoming, and caring. They were also filling with tears as she looked at Cecile. She put the knife away and walked up to the woman claiming to be her mother.

She could see the resemblance between them. The hair color, the shape of their faces, eyes and bodies, and the vibe they both gave off. It was almost like looking into a mirror. Ada lowered one hand and reached for Cecile with the other. Cecile did not pull away, and Ada's hand made contact to her cheek. Her hand was soft and gentle as she stroked Cecile's cheek.

" You've grown so much."

Cecile could not stand it anymore. She pulled Ada- the real Ada- into her arms and hugged the mother that she thought had abandoned her. She felt her arms wrap around her tightly as she buried her face into her neck and cried. For some reason, crying was all she was good at. Cecile felt something warm slide down her back and realized that Ada was crying too. Cecile held on tighter, and they comforted each other with that small embrace.

" Cecile!"

Cecile released Ada as she heard Chris call to her. She was about to call back when Ada stopped her. She was confused, until she realized that it was Ada Wong. Chris would see this Ada as the enemy.

" How do I tell you apart from the other Ada?"

" By the clothing. She's wearing a blue dress, and I'm wearing a red blouse and black pants."

" Got it, but you have to go before they see you. I can't lose you again."

" You won't," Ada reassured her, giving her one last hug. Ada then pulled away and pulled out her grappling hook. She shot it at the building next door, and took off, flying as gracefully as a bird. Cecile could see where she got her acrobatic skills from. Forcing herself to look away, she headed towards Chris, who was on the stairs on his way down with the rest of the team. He had a bruise forming on his jaw where she had punched him, but she felt no regret for that. He needed to hear what no one would dare say.

Piers came to her side and examined her shoulder. Cecile had forgotten all about it. She looked at it and realized that it was bleeding again. Piers was already getting to work patching her up.

" How'd you do that?" he asked her.

" Punching walls," Cecile told him, the lie sliding easily off her tongue.

" Mm," was his answer. " Done."

" Thanks," Cecile said, giving him a grateful smile. He smiled back.

" Break it up, lovebirds," Chris spoke. The two backed away from each other and shot Chris a dirty look. Chris raised his hands in the air in surrender. Cecile laughed at the childish nature of the man in front of her, their conflict forgotten from her mind.

" Let's go find this thing," Chris commanded, and the team moved on, looking for the invisible enemy.

----------------------------------

They had searched the entire building, yet, there was no sign of the B.O.W anywhere. The BSAA agents were growing tired of the cat and mouse game. They had called HQ twice, telling them that if they could not find the B.O.W here, then they would have to abandon the mission and let Delta Team have a look on the other side of town. It was obvious that this was the beast's lair- meatless corpses littered the ground everywhere around the group, all of them covered in slime. The stench of blood and the fluids of the B.O.W nauseated all of them.

Chris made his way forward, determined to find the beast and make sure it never killed again. He still had Marco and Rico with him, along with Piers and Cecile. He was not too happy about her continuing to track this thing, but he had to accept the fact that she was grown up and knew what she wanted to do.

Chris stopped and was nearly pushed by Piers, who was not paying attention. The ground before them was gone, with cable wires hanging down and hitting the next floor. There were five cables in total. Five people in the group. Each person grabbed a cable and slid down to the next floor. Rubble blocked their path, but Chris and Piers were able to clear a path within a matter of seconds. A second set of cable wires greeted them, and they descended once more.

Something attacked them as they descended. Everyone was knocked off the wires and thrown onto a level. Chris ended up on the first floor, Piers on the third, Cecile on the fourth, and Marco on the second with Rico.

" Is everyone alright?" Chris asked over the radio.

" Yeah, I'm good," Piers answered.

" That thing got Rico!" Marco exclaimed. There was no answer from Cecile. Chris realized that he never gave her a radio.

" Piers, find Cecile!" Chris ordered. Piers agreed and began his search. Chris made his way up to the second floor to Marco and the B.O.W. He found a flight of stairs and ascended them quickly, not wasting any time. He scanned the area for J'avo, who have been very quiet lately. There was nothing. Chris continued his journey, and nearly smacked into Cecile and Piers. Chris sighed in relief at the sight of her. He quickly gave her a spare radio.

" In case of an emergency," he told her sternly.

" You got it."

Chris nodded, and the trio moved on, looking for Marco. They came to a halt by a shut door that took the both men to open it. Once opened, they moved forward and listened for Marco.

The trio was knocked down by the B.O.W, who slithered by them and went out the window. They moved on and became desperate to find Marco. Luckily, they found him by another door. However, he was hunched over a body, weeping silently. Upon closer inspection, Chris saw that it was Rico lying dead, eyes wide open. Chris cursed once again and began pacing. The door beside him creaked open slowly, and Cecile entered the room. He followed closely behind her and looked around. They were in a butcher shop, where pigs were hung up on meat hooks, ready to be cut and torn apart. The team looked around them and searched.

" The ceiling!" Piers yelled, aiming his gun. The B.O.W was right above Marco and went to attack.

" NO!" Chris shouted, and he ran and body slammed Marco to the side. The B.O.W followed their movement and went to bite Chris. A shot rang loud and clear, and the beast reared back and became invisible once more. Smoke was coming from the barrel of Cecile's sniper, and she nodded at Chris. He helped Marco up to his feet and got his bearings back. They all stood back to back now, waiting. Chris began looking for a sign to show that the beast was about to attack.

Another shot from Cecile. The B.O.W screamed in pain and revealed itself.

" When it's about to attack, it'll illuminate a red glow on its tail. Watch out for the tail!" Cecile explained. The men nodded and began their search. Chris saw something flicker out of the corner of his eye. He faced it and saw the red light Cecile had been talking about. He fired his assault shotgun at the same time as Cecile fired her sniper. Both hit the beast perfectly in the face, and the B.O.W lunged, mouth opened wide. Piers shot it in its mouth, and the beast backed away in pain. Hissing at them, the B.O.W slithered away through a ventilation system. Cecile was the first to reach it, and the first to go through. Chris grabbed at her leg, but she moved too quickly, escaping his grasp and following the B.O.W. Chris went through next, then Piers, and finally, Marco. When the men reached the other side, Cecile was nowhere in sight. They searched cautiously for her, keeping their eyes open for a red light.

A scream from another ventilation system echoed around the room the men were in, and it stopped his heart. There was the sound of a gun being fired, and a body climbing out of the vent. Cecile stood up and backed away from the vent, sniper posed and ready. She was covered in a clear, sticky and slimy substance; the lubricant around the B.O.W. She searched the room and saw a ladder going up to the third floor.

" Let's go!" she shouted at the trio. " We can escape from the crowded space and have a better chance."

" Alright," they agreed in unison.

Quickly, they climbed the ladder and made their way into the next room, which was not really a room at all. It was a pit-like maze, with large machines creating the maze and hundreds of wires hanging from the ceiling. Next to them was a control panel with a large lever. Across from them was a large machine with electrical warning signs surrounding it. There was also a door right next to the machine, the door wide open. The group jumped into the pit and made their way to the exit as fast as they could. Chris noticed all the water in the area, then looked at the wires above them. They were live wires that would electrocute them if they happened to fall into the water while the group was still in the pit.

Marco and Cecile made it to the other side before Chris and Piers. Cecile boosted Marco up first, then waited for the two. Chris almost told her to follow Marco, but he saw the glint in her eyes. She wanted to take this thing down herself. He sighed and ran at her hands. She bent at the right time and boosted Chris up the wall. Marco grabbed his hand and pulled him the rest of the way up. Cecile then prepared for Piers, who was being stubborn and not going until he knew that Cecile was safe. After all, ladies first.

Cecile began running at Piers. Chris did not understand why, until he saw the flicker of red. Cecile pushed Piers away from the mouth of the B.O.W and rolled to the other side. The creature's hide began to harden and mold. Chris shot off a couple of rounds, but they bounced off the skin like paper airplanes. Chris saw that Piers and Cecile had gotten back on their feet and were running back to the ledge where they had jumped down. Cecile made it first, and she scaled the wall easily and fast. In midair, she flipped backwards and landed as if she had done this many times before. After landing, she turned around and lowered her hand for Piers. He ran up the wall and grabbed her hand. She was stronger than Chris had initially thought. She was able to pull Piers up within a matter of seconds. Chris then began looking for a way to kill this beast once and for all.

Cecile looked at the machinery around her. She then looked at the control panel with the lever. On a whim, she pulled it. An electric current rippled through the water below her, and she saw the wires in the water right in front of her in the pit. However, the plug for the electricity popped out in the area where Chris and Marco were located.

" Marco, plug in the cord! We need it!"

" You got it, Cecile!" Marco answered, then grabbed the cord and pushed it back into the outlet. The force caused a heavy electric current to ripple through the cord, and it electrocuted Marco. Chris was at his side in an instant, moving him away from the cord. Cecile had an idea, but Piers would have to have great timing.

" I'm gonna go down there and lead the snake into the water. When it's there, pull the lever. Don't worry about what happens to me."

" I don't like it," Piers rejected. " It's too dangerous for you to be down there. I'll lure it and you pull the lever."

" Not gonna happen. I'm faster than you, and we need this gone quickly and swiftly. Plus," she pointed to her eyes. " If I need a little boost, I have the perfect weapon."

" Fine," Piers sighed, and positioned himself in front of the lever. Nodding in satisfaction, she jumped back into the pit and began calling to the B.O.W. She heard it hiss, but the sound was on the other side of the pit. She followed its sound, hoping to avoid as much up front confrontation as possible. She could hear Chris trying to wake Marco up, but he was out cold, and he would be for a while. Cecile continued forward, swerving her gun in all directions to avoid another sneak attack. The snake seemed to be getting farther away from her as she moved forward, but almost seemed closer when she listened behind her. She turned around, and was instantly attacked. The B.O.W was longer than Cecile had imagined, and it had been stalking her. Its tail wrapped itself around her waist and lifted her in the air. Cecile knew that bullets could not penetrate its skin, so there was no use using her knife to break free. She could feel the beast tightening its tail around her, trying to suffocate her. A rain of bullets surrounded them, but they all ricocheted off the B.O.W's hide. The beast looked Cecile in the eyes as it slowly drained the life out of her, triumph clear in its cold, unloving eyes. It pissed her off.

" Let. Me. Go," Cecile spoke through gritted teeth. She could feel a burst of energy swirl through her body, and she knew what was happening. Her eyes were changing colors, from sapphire blue to fire red. The B.O.W saw the transformation and loosened its grip slightly. It was enough for Cecile to escape. She pushed herself down and landed feet first on the ground and began to run. The beast followed her, and she hoped that Piers was ready.

She did not have to worry about that. Piers was at the lever, tense and ready to go. Cecile jumped and front flipped over the puddle of electric water, and Piers pulled the lever. Cecile cleared the puddle, but the B.O.W was not so lucky. As its skin touched the water, it began to sizzle and convulse on the ground. The current stopped, but the damage had been done. The B.O.W was dead. Its remains burst into flames, leaving nothing more than a terrible smell and ashes that swirled around in the water.

Cecile leaned against the wall behind her, closing her eyes and catching her breath. After this, she was going to be in the best shape of her life. She heard Marco from the other side, but she could not make out the words. She sighed in relief to hear that he was awake. She heard a grunt from Piers as he jumped from the platform, and she heard footsteps approaching.

" Ready to go?"

" Yeah," Cecile sighed. " Let's get out of here."

The two made their way over to the other ledge, where Chris was waiting with an arm outstretched. Knowing Piers would not go before her, Cecile scaled the wall and grabbed Chris's hand. He lifted her easily and set her to the side. He then turned back to grab Piers. Cecile turned to Marco, who was swaying on his feet slightly.

" Are you okay?"

" I'll be alright," he answered, waving her off with a hand. " I just need a small breather."

" Whatever you say," Cecile said, a laugh flowing with her words. She moved over to him and put his arm around her shoulder, holding him up and supporting him. Cecile looked at Chris and Piers, waiting for them to take the lead. Chris motioned his head toward the exit. He wanted her to go first. Rolling her eyes, she pulled Marco to the exit, with Chris and Piers behind her for protection.

After a while of walking, Marco was back on his feet and mobile again. Cecile's shoulder appreciated the weight loss greatly as she was able to draw her gun and check her surroundings. The group made it to another small room that led out to the streets and next to the docks. Cecile was relieved that this mission was almost over. She could feel the relief in everyone. They were all ready to go back to HQ and rest.

Jake flashed into Cecile's mind like a sharp knife. Her relief turned to sadness. She could not abandon her brother, but she knew he was in good hands, and would do alright on his own. He had done it before he met her. He could go back and live his life without a burden around. After all, that was all she was to anyone anymore; a burden to all she encountered. She argued with Chris every time he told her to go home. She was too stubborn to listen to anyone who told her to stay away from all danger. She had to be saved more than she wanted to be. She was not as strong as the men next to her. She was not as smart. She was just someone they felt obligated to save, because she was a civilian. She may be Chris's daughter, but she knew he did not want to have to protect her from every single monster they encounter.

That was another thing. SHE was a monster. She had super strength and super speed that she could only use when she was angry, kind of like the Hulk. Her eyes changed to a demonic state instead of staying the same icy blue like Jake's. From birth, she had been a monster. She was the biological daughter of Albert Wesker. How could she not be a monster? She was doomed from the start. She was, and always would be, an outcast.

Quietly, Cecile slipped away from the men and found a dark, quiet corner to think. These feelings were not right. This depression came from nowhere, and she tried to push it away, but couldn't. Also, all these negative thoughts were distracting her from the more pressing issue- finding doppleganger Ada Wong. She was still at large here in China, according to the BSAA. She was the one behind the C-Virus attacks, not Simmons, as Leon had said. Cecile had tried to find a connection between Ada and Simmons, but to no avail. She growled in frustration. There was a link between fake Ada and Simmons, but what was it? She closed her eyes and leaned her head against the cold wall, sighing at the whole mess of incomplete information.

She did not hear the footsteps that approached her, or feel the warmth of a body close to her. She did, however, feel something warm and soft press against her lips. Her eyes flew open, and they stared into a pair of brown eyes with green flecks that had become so familiar to her. By instinct, Cecile pushed Piers away and stood there, mouth open at what had just happened. He kissed her. He had KISSED her! She put her hand to her mouth and stared at him, shock taking over.

" Why?"

" Making sure you're alert," he answered with a stone face. " Since I was able to kiss you, it means that you need to get your head in the game. You should be more alert now."

It had meant nothing to him, Cecile concluded as he turned and headed back to Chris. Not knowing why, it broke her heart a little. It had been her first kiss, and it had meant nothing to Piers. It was just to make sure that she was staying focused. Hoping her face would not show too much emotion, she stepped out of the shadows and made her way over to the men.

Chris stopped her in her tracks.

" Why are you crying?"

She had not realized it, but she now felt the warm tears on her cold face. She lowered her head and tried to turn around, but Chris would not allow her to. He kept her head up and her eyes on his.

" It's nothing. I just got something in my eye, I swear," Cecile tried to tell him, but he was not buying it.

" Tell me, now."

" I'm fine!" she shouted, and pulled away from him forcefully. Her back hit the wall behind her, and she was grateful for the support. She left her head down. She could not meet Chris's eyes, not now. She knew what she would find in them. Guilt and sadness, though he did nothing wrong.

" I'm sorry," she whispered. " I just feel like a burden on you guys. I can't really do much, except find trouble and drag you into it. I'm weak and need to be protected from everything this virus has to throw at us. I rely too much on you to come to the rescue, and you guys are killed in the process, and it's not fair on you. I'm sorry."

No one could say a word. No one could move. Wiping away the tears, Cecile walked to the nearest window and broke it open with the butt of her sniper. Chris moved her way, but was too late. She jumped out the window and down towards the ground. Twisting quickly in the air, Cecile was able to catch one of the ledges of the windows with her hands, and she pulled herself into the building and began her trip to the one place she was familiar with.

Edonia.

--------------------------------

" NO!" Chris shouted, leaning over the window. He watched as Cecile twisted in the air and caught the ledge of one of the windows and pulled herself in. He sighed with great relief. For a moment, he had thought that she had tried to kill herself. Piers watched all of this with great regret filling his heart. He had driven her to do this. It was his fault.

He should have never kissed her, but he could not help himself. He had restrained himself for as long as he could, but this time, he had the perfect opportunity, and he could not pass that up. His emotions had taken over and satisfied his need. The look she had given him had been too cute, and he had almost went in for another kiss. However, he had made up an excuse, and he had watched as her face deflated like a balloon, and it tore at him. He had not expected his answer to touch her so much the way it did. He hated to see or make her cry, and that is exactly what he did.

" It's my fault, Captain," Piers began to explain, but a wave of a hand cut him off.

" It's all our fault. We made her feel like she was not vital to the mission, but instead, we made her feel like a parasite that we couldn't get rid of. We are all to blame."

" But, Captain, there's more to it than-"

Marco screamed in pain. Piers and Chris turned, guns aimed. There, sitting in the windowsill, was Ada Wong. She held a small dart gun in her hands, and Piers saw the needle in Marco's neck. Marco tried to hang onto his humanity, but, like the rest, he burst into flames and became encased in the green cocoon that they were now familiar with.

" Looking for me, boys?" Ada chided. " Welcome to China."

" ADA!" Chris shouted, running at her.

Ada swung backwards, and pushed off the window, then shot her grappling hook at the next building and took off. Piers focused his attention on Marco's cocoon and aimed his gun. Chris pushed the barrel away, trying to stop Piers.

" We have no choice. We have to kill him," Piers stated.

" No!" Chris rejected.

" He would do the same for us," Piers argued, then turned back to the cocoon. It was too late. It was already hatching.

--------------------------------------

Cecile was on the first floor of the building, walking slowly. She thought about what she had just done. Her actions, she admitted, were childish and stupid. She should have spoken to Chris about her issues like an adult, but she had been too upset to do so. She was also slightly mortified as she realized that she had jumped out a window like an idiot and had barely saved herself. She shook her head as she walked towards the exit. She took the radio from her pocket and placed it neatly on the ground and put her hand on the handle of the door.

" ADA!"

Cecile swerved around at the sound. That had been Chris shouting. She ran back up the stairs, hoping to make it to the three in time.

---------------------------------------

Piers faced the opening cocoon with determination. He would end this thing, for Marco's sake. The cocoon hatched, and out came a swarm of bugs. Piers shot one round, and the bugs scattered, then regrouped and came towards the two men. Piers could not see a queen bug, which meant that it had the same cloaking ability as the snake. He ducked and rolled as the swarm lunged at him in a circular motion. Piers grabbed his thermal rifle and looked through the scope. There was no sign of the queen bee at all. Cursing, he got up and ran around the room, shooting off a couple bullets here and there. The queen never showed itself. Chris fired off a couple of rounds, and the swarm focused on him. They ignored Piers as they swarmed around Chris, almost blocking him from Piers's sight. He could not fire at the swarm for the fear of hitting Chris. There was nothing he could do.

" Captain, get out of there!"

There was a flash of light, and Piers was stunned. He could hear only the ringing in his ears. He heard something squeal in pain, though it was muffled profoundly. He tried to open his eyes, but all he saw was white light. He closed his eyes and waited for the effect to wear off.

When it finally did, Piers looked at Chris. To his surprise, Cecile was next to him, trying to wake him up. He went over to the pair and slapped Chris across the face. Chris woke with a jolt, then saw Cecile's face.

" Are you two okay?" she asked them.

" Yeah, we're okay, thanks to you," Piers replied.

" I'm guessing the cocoon was Marco."

" Yeah."

" Dammit!" Cecile shouted as she slammed her fist into the wall. Piers jumped at the sound. He was use to Chris hitting things, but not Cecile. He did not spend too much time thinking about it, though. He stood up and moved to the door to their left. It was barred shut. He looked around and saw an explosive charge lying where Marco's cocoon had been. Piers picked it up and placed it on the barred door and set it off. He backed away before the explosion went off, and the way was clear. Cecile had Chris back on his feet, and they were on their way. Piers looked at Chris and saw the fresh wave of hatred lurking in his eyes. He put himself between Cecile and Chris, hoping to spare her if Chris decided to lash out.

He was right in doing so. Chris slammed his fist into the wall next to him, shouting in aggravation. Piers backed up, bumping into Cecile. She paid no attention to that, though. She was staring at Chris, and Piers got the message. Chris had never shown this side of him to her. Not once.

" I want her head on a stick," Chris snarled. Piers took a step towards him cautiously.

" I'm right there with you, Captain," Piers told him. " But your personal vendetta isn't going to get us anywhere. You know, we could've possibly prevented some of those deaths if you hadn't been so blinded by vengeance."

" Shut up," Chris warned. Piers did not listen.

" Do you even hear yourself? You know, I feel sorry for all the men who died following your orders."

" SHUT UP!" Chris grabbed Piers and shoved him against the wall. Piers heard Cecile gasp, and it gave him a little boost of energy. Piers pushed back and knocked Chris away from him.

" What the hell happened to you?! What happened to the legendary Chris Redfield, huh?! It's a good thing Finn's not around to see you like this. He would be so disappointed in his hero."

All Chris could do was stand there, fuming in anger. Piers knew his words had hit home, but Chris would never admit it to himself. He was too selfish to admit it to himself. Piers braced himself, expecting Chris to start throwing punches. He knew he could take Chris on in a fight, but Piers did not have the determination to win. Chris took a step back and lunged.

Cecile moved in between them, grabbed Chris's arm, pulled him closer, and kneed him in the stomach. He fell hard and began coughing, trying to let some air back into his lungs.

" That's enough," she said, her voice cold and void of any emotion. " Get your anger under control and think about what it is you're doing. You're lashing out at the two you trust the most. All because of a woman. Get your head screwed back onto your neck, get up, and let's go find this bitch before she wreaks any more havoc."

She walked away from them and headed towards the door that opened to the dock area. Piers and Chris followed her, with Piers in the middle of the two once again. He didn't know what to do at this point. He sighed and went to catch up with Cecile. He had a few things to clear up with her after all. However, that would not be resolved for a long time. Piers knew he was not man enough to admit how he felt to her. Not yet, anyway.

-------------------------------

The trio made it to a research facility where Ada had been located last. They were at the back entrance just past the docks. Chris had cooled off in the timeframe, though Cecile could still see the hate in his eyes. He wanted full revenge. He was not going to listen to HQ's orders. She knew she had to keep her eye on him.

" So, this is where they were developing the C-Virus, huh?" Piers questioned, looking at the building in disgust. " Wonder what we'll find in there."

" Let's not think about it too much," Chris said. " We have a mission to complete."

" Right," Piers agreed. Cecile waited for Chris to make a move, hoping it would be quickly. There was a sense of deja vu, but Cecile couldn't place it. The feeling held the sense of dread. This place was not safe.

Chris kicked in the door and moved forward. Cecile followed closely behind him, quickly scanning the area. She could hear a set of footsteps above her, but could not make out how many.

" Someone's upstairs," she reported. The trio moved on to the next area. When they entered, they were greeted with water tanks filled with the green cocoons inside each one. At the end of the long corridor, there was an elevator.

" Hello, boys," Ada's voice came over a loudspeaker. " Like what I've done with the place?"

In front of the door leading to the elevator, lasers turned on and headed towards them. Cecile ran straight towards the laser and found an opening at the bottom large enough to slide under. She picked up speed, then slid at the last second, barely missing the beam. She quickly got back up and ran to the lights that were glowing on both sides of the doors. She broke them until they were only small shards of glass. The laser turned off, and the men made their way over. They went to get on the elevator, but someone else beat them to it. All Cecile could see before the door closed was two pairs of legs.

" We can take the stairs!" Chris shouted, already making his way up. Piers and Cecile followed quickly, with Cecile in the back. Piers made it up to Chris, and the two moved forward. Cecile paused on the stairs and looked through a small window. She could see computers and panels in a small control room, but she could not see anyone in there.

" Cecile!"

" Coming!"

Cecile made her way up the stairs and joined the men. They entered a smaller room and stared. There were a few more water tanks, but they were void of the green cocoons. There was a small space under the tanks. Cecile looked through the water tanks and saw two people on the other side. A man and a woman, though she could not make out any other features. She looked back at Chris, who was trying to open the large door out of the room. It was stuck firmly in place.

" Locked," he confirmed.

There was a sudden flash of red lights, and small rumba looking robots filled the room with a glowing blue light on their backs. One touched Cecile's foot, and the blue light turned red. Cecile backed away just in time. The robot exploded.

" They're set with explosive charges!" Cecile exclaimed. " Be alert!"

" Hunnigan, get us out of here!" a man's voice rang loud and clear from the other side of the water tank. She had heard that voice before, but she didn't have the time to think it over. They had to get out of here.

Cecile spotted a control panel to her left. Next to the control panel was a large metal box on the wall. Cecile pulled off the door to the box and looked inside. It was a tangle of wires that controlled the locked door. She stared at them in confusion, until Piers came up behind her and moved her aside, setting himself in front of the wires.

" I can deal with these wires and open the door manually. Just keep those things off me."

" Alright," Cecile answered. She then turned and studied the robots. She watched as one touched Chris's foot. No sooner than it did, the robot stopped and blew up after two seconds exactly. She looked at another robot that touched the walls of the room. However, it did not explode. It simply bounced off and went in another direction. That was the key.

" Chris!" Cecile called to him. " The robots only explode if we touch them. We need to lead them away from Piers and touch them so they explode. If they touch the wall, they bounce off and head back towards the water tanks. The more we get rid of, the better our chances are for getting out of here in one piece."

" Let's do it," Chris agreed. The three got to work. Piers began rewiring the network to the lock on the door. Cecile touched every single robot that was close to the water tanks. She could hear the man and woman on the other side doing the same thing, though their control panel was activated, while theirs was not. One by one, the robots were extinguished by Cecile and Chris. It took about a total of five minutes, but it seemed like an hour. Finally, the locks on the door were disengaged. The door, on the other hand was still closed. Cecile moved towards it cautiously, waiting for something to happen.

The door opened with a hiss, and the three made their forward. They entered a tiny room with no door to escape from. Cecile looked around and found a ventilation shaft. She kicked the metal away and crawled through. Up ahead, she saw Ada smiling at her. Anger filled her. This was not Ada Wong. This was an imposter, and she would pay for what she has done. Cecile went to stand, but Ada was already on the move. Cecile stood and began the pursuit.

Ada was quick. Cecile had to give her that much. The woman was in high heeled boots, yet she was running like she was wearing tennis shoes. Cecile kept at it though. She was not going to let this woman get away. Not again. She had these thoughts fresh in her mind as she jumped over gaps, jumped down into gaps and kept a steady pace with Ada. It was difficult sometimes, since Ada had that grappling hook with her.

Cecile got an idea.

She ran faster, watching Ada's movements carefully. When she got ahead of her, she jumped up on one of the ledges of the catwalk and pulled herself onto the next level. Ada had gotten ahead of her again, but Cecile had planned it that way. She took aim, and waited for the right moment. Ada was still running, and Cecile caught sight of Piers chasing her. It would be soon for Cecile's time to take action.

Sudden white smoke filled a small portion of the loading area. Cecile looked around, then heard the sound of the grappling hook. Cecile looked to the left and saw Ada flying through the air. She had missed her chance.

" Dammit," she mumbled, then continued her pursuit. She had made it ten yards when she was knocked over by a body. Cecile quickly got up and faced her attacker, who was concealed by the smoke still swirling in the air. Cecile raised her fists and charged. The attacker did the same. They met each other's strikes blow for blow. A few times, each one got a good hit in. This was how Cecile knew she was fighting a woman. It must have been the woman that was with the man from the other locked room. Cecile kept fighting, and heard a gunshot from behind her. It took her attention away, and the woman got a good kick to her face in. Cecile fell backwards, and rolled in a backwards somersault. She then pulled out her gun and aimed at the woman. The woman did the same thing, and the smoke finally cleared. Cecile lowered her gun as she caught a glimpse of the attacker's face.

" Helena?"

" Cecile! Why are you here?"

" Tracking down Ada Wong. You?"

" Same here."

Another shot rang out, but it was multiple. Cecile ran towards it. She knew Chris and Piers had her cornered. Helena followed her closely, running with every bit of strength she had left. Cecile knew that if they did not make it, Ada would be killed. Right now, Cecile was curious to know why Helena was chasing after a wanted woman.

Wait.

If Helena was here, then that meant....

The women made it to the men, and were met with a sight that was almost amusing, if they had not been in this situation. Chris was wrestling with another man, one with blonde hair. The two were evenly matched, even though Chris had size on his side. The other man was thrown to the ground. Like Cecile had done, he somersaulted backwards, grabbed the gun from his belt, and stood up, aiming it at Chris just as Chris aimed his gun. A light from a passing car flashed through the window, illuminating their faces. As Cecile had suspected, Chris was face to face with an old friend.

" Chris?"

" Leon! What are you doing here?"

" Put your gun down, Chris. She's a key witness. We need her."

" A witness?" Chris asked incredulously. " She's the one who did all this!"

" No," Leon argued. " It wasn't her. It was Simmons, National Security Advisor."

" I lost all my men because of her!"

" And I lost over 70,000 people, including the president, because of Simmons!"

" She's working for Neo-Umbrella. Do you know what that means?"

" Yeah, I do."

" And you're still going to protect this woman?"

" I am."

The silence that followed was intense. Helena had her gun aimed at Chris, just in case. Piers kept his gun and eyes trained on Ada, who watched the performance with amusement on her face. Leon and Chris stared each other down like two rabid dogs fighting over a morsel piece of meat. Cecile kept her eye on Ada's every movement. Ada's eyes shifted over to Cecile, and narrowed in a threatening way.

" Leon," Cecile said. " This is not the Ada you want to protect. She's an imposter."

" What?" Leon asked her, confusion evident in his voice.

" That's not the real Ada Wong. She's a doppelganger, and nothing more. She wants to see the world rot in Hell, and that's it. Let the BSAA deal with her."

" How do you know if she's a doppelganger or not?" Helena piped in.

Cecile looked at her, then at each and every one one of them slowly. A knowing, sinister smile curled on Ada's lips. Cecile hated her with every fiber in her body. This woman knew how to piss someone off with a single look.

" Leon, think about this woman's actions compared to Ada's. Do they seem different, even in the slightest?"

" No."

" Think again. The real Ada would help you in a time of need, right? Why is this woman running away from you instead of trying to help you? Why did she try to kill you in the small testing room instead of letting you out? Think about it, Leon! You're blinded by emotion instead of reasoning! Wake up and see the difference!"

" Leon, she has a point," Helena spoke up. " If this were truly the Ada who helped us in the catacombs, why is she trying to harm us?"

Leon stayed silent, but Cecile could see the indecision lying in his eyes. She took a step forward and stood in between Chris and Leon. Leon looked at her and hid the emotion lurking. She knew how to make him see.

" What did you find in the catacombs?"

" A video," Helena supplied.

" Of what?"

" Of.... Ada."

" What did the video contain?"

" It showed Ada being released from a green cocoon, just like the one Deborah was in."

" She's a copy, Leon. Can't you see that? This is not Ada."

" How would you know what the real Ada would act like if you have never met her, huh?" Leon questioned.

Cecile lowered her head and debated on whether or not to tell them. She had to play her cards right, or everything would fall apart. She could not risk that happening. She needed them- all of them- to regain every fragment of her lost memories. Many things still made no sense to her, but she was starting to learn quickly.

" Captain!"

Everyone looked at Ada, but the damage had been done. She had thrown a blue grenade, the same one that Piers had used on the bridge six months ago. Cecile quickly looked away, but she was the closest one to the grenade. The flash was blinding, and Cecile could only hear a loud ringing in her ears. Her vision filled with a brilliant white light, and her head began to pound. Deja vu took over her body, and a memory unlocked within her, sweeping her into darkness.

---------------------------------------

A white light filled Cecile's vision. She shut her eyes and tried to turn her head away. However, her head would not move from the position it was in. She realized quickly that she was strapped down. Terror swept over her, and she struggled to break free. Her efforts were in vain. She failed to break the strong bonds holding her down. She began to shout, hoping someone would come in and release her.

Her cries worked, though not to her favor. She heard voices fill the room she was in. All the voices were male, with one standing out more than the others.

" She's a perfect test subject for Umbrella," the voice said. " Why have we not moved forward with the experiment?"

" Wesker, sir, she's a child!" someone argued. That voice was replaced with a choking sound, then the sound of bones breaking in a clean way. Though Cecile could not see it, she knew what had happened. Wesker had broken the scientist's neck out of disobedience.

" Anyone else?"

No one spoke up. The light shining in Cecile's eyes was removed, and she blinked rapidly, waiting for them to adjust. When she could see, she was met with all too familiar eyes. Those deep, insidious red that were demonic.

" You will be my greatest creation yet, child," Wesker spoke to her softly. Cecile tried to move away from him, but the bonds held her in place. Wesker moved closer to her ear, and whispered two words that would forever change the way she felt about him.

" Forgive me."

He moved away from her, and she caught a glimpse of the former man he had been, one with sapphire blue eyes that were gentle, not the red demonic eyes. Cecile desperately tried to break free, but it was no use. She was not going to be able to escape the pain she was going to suffer.

" Start the experiment," Wesker commanded. There was a chorus of acknowledgements from the scientists, and they sprang upon her, injecting her with various chemicals and viruses, hoping to recreate their master.

---------------------------------------

Cecile was pulled back into reality as something cold and wet dropped on her face. She opened her eyes, and water splashed into the exposed organ. She blinked the drop out of her eye and sat up. Everything was silent around her, and she looked at her surroundings.

She was alone. Chris and Piers were nowhere in sight, along with Leon and Helena. Cecile assumed that Chris and Piers were chasing Ada at this very moment, but she had to think about where the other two were. She tried to think, but nothing came to mind. She growled in irritation. They were going to meet Simmons, but where was he?

" Hello? Is anyone there? This is FOS headquarters speaking."

Cecile checked her front pants pocket and discovered a small radio transmitter. She put it into her ear and answered the woman on the other end.

" This is Cecile Redfield. May I ask who I'm speaking to?"

" Ingrid Hunnigan. Are you an associate of Agent Kennedy's by any chance?"

" I know him. Do you have a location on him?"

" How do I know you really know him?" Hunnigan asked her. It was a fair question, to be honest.

" Right now, he's with a woman named Helena Harper. They're tracking down Simmons, hoping to catch him and take him into custody for the spread of the C-Virus. Sherry was the one to tell him where to go, but I don't know where that is. Can you help me, please?"

" One moment." Cecile heard the sound of fingers tapping a keyboard. She waited patiently for Hunnigan to be done.

" Okay, I have Leon's location. He's at the Thai Lung building in Kwoo Cheing, which is about fifty yards from your location. If you hurry, you can make it to him."

" Thank you, Hunnigan," Cecile said, then took the headset off. She quickly spotted a flight of stairs and ran down them. She saw a door slightly to her left opened wide. She went to it, her excitement growing. At the threshold, she stopped dead in her tracks. She willed her body to move forward, but it refused her, and pulled her away from the door. Against her will, it pulled her to another door that was open. As she moved towards the door, she held her hands out and grabbed the doorframe. She thought for a moment. Why would she be going in this direction instead of towards Leon? What was this way that was so important?

Piers.

Cecile lowered her head in shame. Despite how he felt about her, she still wanted to go after him. She backed away from the door and stood in the middle of the room, evening the space between the two doors. She looked between the two of them, debating. She could go after Leon and Helena, and stop Simmons, or she could go after Chris and Piers and help them take down Ada. Two sides of her pulled her in different directions, and it was tearing her apart. She sat down, hoping it would make it easier to make a decision. It did nothing but worsen her condition. She could not decide. She wanted to be in two places at once, but that was impossible for her.

Follow Chris.

The voice in her head startled her. It wasn't a whispy voice like it had always been. It had been rough, yet gentle, guiding her. The voice was male, and it was familiar.

Follow Chris. He needs you, and you need him. Leon and Helena will be fine. Your brother and Sherry are already there with them, taking down Simmons as we speak. Go after Chris. His sanity is going to snap without you.

" Wesker!" Cecile cried out. The voice in her head, it was Wesker. But, it was not the Wesker she knew. It was a Wesker she had met only once, then never saw again. It was the one from the operating room, back in July of 2008. Less than a year before Wesker had been killed. In July, she had been altered into a weapon. One that Umbrella planned to use for their own pleasure. One to destroy the world.

" Get out of my head!"

Listen to me, he insisted. I know what I did to you is unforgivable, but that wasn't me. The man I use to be was taken away by a man named Spencer. I use to be human. I use to care about people other than myself. I use to care about your mother. I use to care about you. Then, they activated the other side of me. The one you're familiar with. After that, I had no control over myself. I began hurting the people I use to love, and I didn't care. I lusted after power, and I- he- almost had it. The other side of me almost got what he wanted. Luckily, you stopped me. At just fourteen years old, you stopped the monster I had become.

Now, it's up to you to stop the monster inside of Chris from emerging. If it does, everyone he loves will be hurt. That includes you. Please, this one time, listen to me. Save your father!

Cecile stood up and looked at the door Leon had gone through, then turned and ran after Chris, hoping she would make it in time.
