Part 4

"Thank you" I muttered after a long period of silence. He put his mug down and looked at me with cold gaze that sent shivers to my spine.

"Why did they try to kill you?" he finally spoke. This time, his voice is a bit gentlier than earlier.

"I don't know" I really don't have an idea why they attacked me. And I didn't even have the time to defend myself and find out why.

"Coffee is there, just put more sugar if you want" he offered. I ignored him and trailed my eyes on his metal arm that was sitting on the table.

"Where did you get that? I mean, how did you have that kind of arm?" I asked. He didn't answer again.

What is wrong with this man? He looked so tensed and agitated and ready to kill someone. But I didn't falter, I wonder why? I feel more relaxed as if it's just a normal conversation with an old friend of mine.

"I'm sorry for asking too much. I'm just wondering about that, it's my first time to see such an arm. Well, not the usual prosthetic arm but this, this is different" I furrowed when I noticed a red star on its upper bicep.

"It was attached to me" he said and looked at me. His jaw clenched, his eyes were growing sober and I could see something in them. Fear.

I nodded and heaved a breath.

"I'm... I'm Hayley, by the way"

"Does it still hurt?" he sounded concern but in a cold tone. I was lost for a while and then brought back when he asked me again.

"Yeah, I mean not really. Did you do the stitching?"

He just nodded.

"Are you sure you're not hungry?" he asked.

"I'm not. And I'm pretty sure the salad that I ate last night is still working inside my belly" I laughed but he just looked at me.

"You were asleep for two days"

My jaw dropped from what he had said.

Two days?

What the hell?
