Zeref sat on the very cliff that Shisui fell from  it was the last thing he ever found out about his brother from a note that Itachi left him. He didn't know why at first but when he finally gained the courage to visit the spot he saw a memorial for his brother.

A lot more tears were shed that night.

As disturbing as it sounds this became  Zeref's favourite place. His old one was ruined by the image of Shisui's body.

This was now his thinking spot, he came to talk to Shisui even though he wasn't alive he believed that he could still hear him.

Sasuke was training till he dropped in a nearby field.

Zeref looked at him was emotionless eyes.

"What should I do nee-San he's going to get himself killed...." Zeref whispered.

He closed his eyes letting the words flow before opening them and slowly looking to his blooded and bruised hands.

"Not like I'm much better" he continued.

Zeref looked at the picture he put on the memorial, it was taken on his sixth birthday.

Shisui was standing there smiling like an idiot as usual, zeref was on his shoulders, a huge grin was shown, one of Zerefs hands were in Shisui's hair the other held a katana high above his head.

Zeref sighed looking at that photo, that katana was a gift from Shisui, he still has it, it's just in a box under his bed, it hurts to look at it.

It still hurts, and the nightmares are still coming at full force.

Zeref looked to the sky, white fluffy clouds floated by  and a calm breeze blew past.

It's been 2 years since that night.

Zeref was 9 now, and he still couldn't push himself to open his brothers will or go into his room, the will was tucked safely in his cargo shorts pocket.

Zeref was currently rethinking his dreams.

It was to be strong enough to protect his family.

He clearly failed that one. He only has two.

One murdered his clan, but showed enough remorse to build a memorial for his best friend.

The other emotionless and pissed, going as far as to Avenge his clan by killing his brother.

He hates to say it, it makes him sound like a child but..

"This sucks" Zeref muttered.

Zeref mainly wondered what he should do now.

He could keep training so he could protect his friends but with his curse he wouldn't be surprised if they died too.

The light flickered

He could protect Sasuke, but he doesn't need, nor want him to.

The light flashed

What about Naruto and Hinata, he could help them, but what's the point, in his mindset he probably wouldn't even pay attention.

Dark

Now that he thought about, he hasn't spoken to any of his friends since that night.

Darker

Sasuke had barely acknowledged him since then.

Darker, Darker

He couldn't beleive it. But he had to. Zeref finally came with the realisation that he was.....

Alone

Zeref put more thought into that night.

"He was crying, why?" Zeref asked.

The thought of the Village's biggest Pacifist, going nuts, killing everyone and crying over it, with enough guilt to build a memorial and let him know about it.

Something was wrong, Vital information was missing.

Zeref flashed back to Shisui's body.

No eyes.

Where did they go?

Zeref decided he wasn't going to kill Itachi, he thought it through and none of it made sense.

No that was something he would stop Sasuke from doing.

Instead he would hunt, not for Itachi, but for the truth,the why?, was what he was after.

Why was the Uchiha killed?

Why had Itachi done it?

Where had Shisui's eyes gone?

Why was he and Sasuke spared?

So many questions, but no answers.

It clicked, he would be the investigator, and stop Sasuke from becoming an Avenger, he needed strength and Information.

But what.

His sword, he could pick up Kenjutsu again.

That's 1.

Fuinjutsu, he had heard about the limitless things that could be done by a master, he could look into that.

That's 2.

Ninjutsu, he needed to upgrade his arsenal, Badly, Fire ball, great Fire ball, fire dragon and the main three, transformation, clone, and substitution won't be enough to go against who ever was pulling the strings behined Itachi.

That's 3.

Taijutsu, Zeref was by no means weak, but he sure as hell wasn't strong he would need strength and speed, he could upgrade his weights, that he forgot he had on because of how long he's had them on for.

That's 4.

Genjustu, its handy, and with the Sharingan casting one should be simple, with a couple of layers he could easily confuse people, but who to go to for help, he would need to look into that later.

That's 5.

Knowledge, the library would be a good place to start, the Shinobi library is accessible to him since he's in the academy, but general knowledge would be needed to. Not to mention anything Gennin and above is blocked off to him till he graduated, but maby he could sneak in to those areas.

That's 6.

Six things for Zeref on his to do list.

Zeref stood up watching the setting sun.

"This was your favourite view, its mine too, I'll wear this scarf and necklace till the end." He stated.

Running down the hill Zeref had a new goal in mind and he would do it alone, in his darkness.

'To find the truth'

On the way down the hill Zeref thought of the things he could do to get through his list.

The first thing he could do is upgrade his weights.

With that in mind Zeref bolted to one of the Shinobi shops, he had an idea in mind but he needed to ask of it was possible.

He ran past Sasuke who was still in his training field

"I'm going to the shop to get some supplies, want anything?" Zeref asked.

"Hn" was the boy's reply.

Zeref swore his eye twitched.

'I hate those grunts' Zeref thought.

Thanks to Shisui, Itachi and spending two years with a boy who grunts as a hello, Zeref learned the ancient Uchiha Language.

Doesn't mean he likes it though.

"Just Kunai? Nothing else?" He asked.

"Hn"

"Fine. " Zeref said.

He ran off.

When Zeref entered the store he went straight to the Kunai's forgetting Prince Sasuke's request is deadly.

He then went and got some paper and ink for his Fuinjutsu.

Next was weights, he was currently sitting at 500grams.

He grabbed four 1kg weights he struggled but managed  and went to the till to go pay.

The man at the till looked at the 10 year old with bored eyes.

"Anything else?" He asked dryly.

"I was actually wondering if there was a way to make my clothes act as weights as well." Zeref said.

The mans eyes lit up, it was an odd request but a smart one, enemies wouldn't know you had weights on until you took them off.

"Its possible, how heavy we talking?" He asked.

Zeref had a smirk grow on his face.

"If I asked for a 5Kg t-shirt, 3Kg headband and a pair of 4Kg Ninja Sandles would that be possible?" Zeref asked.

"16Kgs plus the four you've got here, 20Kgs could you handle that?" The man asked.

"That wasn't an answer to my question." Zeref responded.

The man gave a hefty sigh.

"Its possible, I could get them to you in 2 weeks time." The man said

"Great could you make them 1 size bigger than my current clothing?" He asked.

"Why?" The man asked.

"The clothes I have are a little bit too big, but I have no doubt I'll grow out of them when I'm done with the academy, those clothes will be for when I'm prepared to handle that weight, I'll be wearing them for a while so I want them to be slightly bigger." Zeref explained.

"Smart kid. That's 1000Ryo for the 2 packets of  Kunai, 500Ryo for the stack of paper, 100Ryo for the ink, 4000Ryo for the weights and 10,000Ryo for the clothing request.... that's 15,600Ryo " the man said.

Zeref smirked and handed the man the correct amount, replacing his current weights he then left the store.

"Pleasure doing business, see you in 2 weeks" Zeref said leaving.

He felt a lot heavier, he knew this was going to be hard, but he had no regrets.

The next stop was the Shinobi Library Zeref walked in and went straight to the Funjutsu Section and grabbed as many books as he could find, which was about 3, grab 2 books on Kenjutsu, and grabbed 2 books on Genjutsu, he would need a sensei for Ninjutsu.

Walking out with all the books in his bag he bumped into Hinata.

"Z-zeref h-hi" she said.

Zeref only nodded his head.

Alone

"I- uhh I w-wanted to a-ask you someth-thing." She said.

"Ok" Zeref said.

Alone Alone

"W-will you Please train m-me!?" Ahe shouted, asked, both.

Zeref's face went from blank to confusion.

"Why?" He asked.

Alone Alone Alone Alone

"I w-want to prove I c-can be s-strong, p-please" she begged.

Zeref gave a heavy sigh, he wasn't about to let her in on his plans, but if he trained her she might find out on her own, Hinata isn't stupid, just shy.

"Fine.... but Sunday and Mondays only" Zeref said.

That was all he could do. He was after all Alone he needed to focus on his own training.

"Really?" Hinata asked in awe.

"Yes, anything else other than those days is up to you  I can make you a schedule to use when were not training but that's all I can do." He explained.

Hinata looked ecstatic.

"H-hai!" She shouted.

"Ok, Today is Thursday?? So meet me at Trauning ground 11 on Sunday at 6am." Zeref said before he walked off.

He heard a muffled 'hai' as he walked off.

Heading back home Zeref thought about his own Schedule.

Monday: Hinata, Fuinjutsu

Tuesday: Taijutsu, Kunai practice

Wednesday: Kenjustu, Genjutsu

Thursday: Library, Ninjutsu

Friday: Taijutsu, Ninjustu, Fuinjutsu

Saturday: practice, Uchiha katas, make own style

Sunday:Hinata, rest

Everyone needs one day to rest.

He looked at the time table. Tomorrow is Friday, Zeref would work on his Taijustu, Ninjustu and Start his Fuinjutsu.

Walking past a Training ground of Chunin, Zeref saw them trying and failing to perform a Jutsu.

'I did say I wanted to expand my arsenal' Zeref thought.

He turned on his three tomoe Sharingan and watched them perform. It looked like an upgraded clone jutsu.

He gave a sigh he would figure it out tomorrow.

With that Jutsu Memoriesd he walked back to his apartment.

Walking past Sasuke who was still in the training grounds he gave him his requested Kunai and left.

Zeref was now sitting on his bed. He was staring at a picture of Shisui holding him as a baby.

Zeref then looked down to his brothers will.

Screw it, no more hiding.

Zeref opened the will.

Hey Imouto!!!

If your reading this then I've died huh? Sorry about that, I didn't mean to leave you honest. However I know how intelligent you are and how strong you are, I know you'll be just fine.

Now I'm going to assume your really pissed at 'tachi right now, but I can only hope you'll learn the truth, I would tell you, but I've been sealed, no writing for this moron.

So let's get the sappy stuff outta the way.

Imotou, I love you. Even those time when you called me idiot, when you acted like I was the dumbest thing to ever walk the planet, it was worth it for all the amazing times we had.

When we teased 'Tachi and Sasuke together, our training at our Secret spot, when you first called me Aniki. Those days made me the happiest man alive. Look after Sasuke for me will ya, you know what he can be like.

Please don't fall to the Uchiha curse of hatred, that's the last thing I want for you.

Now the good before the bad.

Umm ok so since I'm dead that means I'll never be able to give you your birthday gift. Your next birthday is your 8th one. Soo at the bottom of the letter there should be a seal slide your blood across it.

Zeref did just that  he bit his thumb and slid it across, in a cloud of smoke a scroll appeared.

"What on earth is this?" Zeref asked, he looked back to the letter.

Now before you go accusing me of giving you paper  with that deadpan face most likely asking ' what on earth it is' let me explain.

That is a summoning scroll, a friend I saved a few years back gave it to me. He knew I wasn't comparable with the animal, but I knew you would.

Just do me a favour, don't sign it until you get to the third stage of the Chunin Exams at least once. The animal is dangerous and doesn't take kindly to the weak. I trust you'll be smart enough to listen to my advice.

Finally on a serious note, I have no doubt that you hopefully heard and hadn't seen  that my body most likely had no eyes.

This was expected, I know for a fact that one eye is with the man behind it all.

The other is with 'Tachi.

Find them Zeref.

Find my eyes. I want you to have them. There will come a time when you unlock the mangekyo Sharingan. When that happens implant my eyes into yours.

This will unlock the eternal Mangekyo Sharingan which will stop you from going blind, and give you access to a complete Susanoo. You'll know what that is when the time is right.

I love you, look after your friends, protect Sasuke, get strong, and for Kami sake please never give up.

Tears dropped onto the note. A shaky smile was held onto Zeref's face.

"Nee-san, I'll keep them safe from the darkness, while they live their lives in the light, I promise" Zeref said his closed fist around his Scarf tightly.

He put the Summoning Scroll in his bag, and made sure the weights were comfortable, before laying down.

"Watch over me, will you" Zeref muttered. His eyes closed, and for the first time in a long time  he had no nightmares.

Hey guys Author here.

Ok so with lots of consideration and requests there is going to be a poll up  its gonna be up for a long time, however long it takes to get to the end of Naruto.

The ones above have been requested the other is if you can think of anyone else who Zeref should end up with.

Keep in mind that Zeref's personality will be slightly altered as he is trying to 'imitate Natsu' in his new life, so there will be some points when he seems OOC.

Please don't attack me for that, this is my story and this is how I want it to go.
