Chapter 6

22:15, 27 March 2023

Olivia was currently in her English class. Timothy was passing back their essays.

When she got hers back, Erica saw that she didn't do very well and there was a note saying to see him after class.

When class ended, Olivia stayed behind as she packed up her bag.

Timothy walked over. "Olivia, I wanted to discuss your essay with you." He started.

"I know I didn't do very well." Olivia typed into her voice app. "Honestly, papers and essays have never really been my strong suit."

"And that's alright." Timothy said. "I understand it's not easy starting at a new school, especially once the school year has already started, and I don't want you to fall behind already. I want to help you in anyway I can, so you can always come to me with any questions you have or if you want me look over your papers before turning them in."

Olivia nodded.

"I'm going to give you the weekend to rewrite your essay and you can come see me at the end of the school day to give you pointers on how to improve your paper." Timothy said.

"Thank you." Olivia typed.

"You're welcome." Timothy said. "Just turn it into me at the beginning of class on Monday."

Olivia nodded, again, and headed to lunch.

She was eating at her spot and looking at her paper.

"Hey." She heard.

Olivia looked up to see Jesus approaching. She waved to him. She took her phone out of her pocket.

"What are you doing over here?" Olivia typed.

"I can't sit with you at lunch?" Jesus asked.

"Well, you can, but I figured you had your own friends to eat lunch with or you'd want to have lunch with Lexi." Olivia typed.

"I wanted to apologize for the other morning. For you tripping on my skateboard." Jesus said. "I didn't mean to upset you."

"I wasn't hurt or anything. Just a little embarrassed." Olivia typed.

"Well, I'm sorry." Jesus said.

"It's okay." Olivia typed.

"What's that?" Jesus asked, referring to the paper.

"The first English paper I've turned in since starting here." Olivia typed. "I didn't do so well."

"That sucks." Jesus said.

"Timothy's letting me rewrite it this weekend." Olivia typed. "And he said he'd help me a little after school, if I needed it."

"That's great." Jesus said. "Timothy is one of the best teachers at Anchor Beach. He tries to make sure that his students succeed in school."

"So, is that why you came to sit with me? Just to apologize?" Olivia asked.

"Not at all." Jesus said.

"It's fine." Olivia typed. "You can go sit with your friends or Lexi. It won't hurt my feelings."

"No, I'll sit with you." Jesus said. "So, how are you liking Anchor Beach?"

"It's great. Certainly the best I've been too." Olivia typed. "The teachers are really nice."

"Yeah, they're all really great." Jesus agreed.

That evening, Olivia was shooting hoops after finishing her homework.

"That basketball hoop is getting more use out of it from Olivia than it ever did with Brandon and Jesus." Stef said.

"I'm just glad it's being used." Lena said.

The next day, Stef and Lena were hosting a party.

Olivia was in the kitchen with Lena, taste testing all the foods while she worked on her essay. She was looking through the paper at the notes Timothy wrote yesterday after school.

"What are you doing?" Lena asked.

"Rewriting my essay." Olivia answered.

"I see you didn't do very well on it." Lena said.

"I've never really been good at papers and essays." Olivia explained . "But, Timothy gave me the weekend to redo it."

"That was nice of him." Lena said.

"Yeah." Olivia agreed.

Just then, two women walked into the kitchen.

"Lena." One of them said.

"Hey guys." Lena greeted. "Olivia, these are some of mine and Stef's friends, Kelly and Jenna. This is Olivia. One the foster kids we just started fostering."

"It's nice to meet you, Olivia." They said.

"It's nice to meet you both too." Olivia typed. She looked at Lena. "Are there any pools around? I was thinking about going swimming, if that's okay."

"What about your essay?" Lena asked.

"I kinda wanted to take a little break." Olivia replied. "I'll finish it tonight or tomorrow."

"Yeah, that's fine." Lena said. "I'll write down directions to the nearest public pool."

"Thank you." Olivia typed. "I'm going to go change."

Lena nodded. "Just bring your phone with you in case we need to reach you." She said.

"I will." Olivia typed. "Just remember to text me instead of calling."

"Right." Lena said.

Olivia went up to her room to change and then headed to the public pool after getting the directions from Lena.

After spending a little time at the pool, Olivia came back home.

"Where've you been?" Jude asked.

"At the pool." Olivia replied.

"Hungry, Olivia?" Stef asked. "We still have some food leftover."

"Sure." Olivia typed. She noticed a guy that wasn't part of the family.

"Liv, this is Wyatt." Callie introduced.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Olivia." Wyatt said. M

"You too." Olivia typed.

"Well, I better get home." Wyatt said. "Thank you for having me."

"Glad you enjoyed it." Lena said.

Wyatt then left. Stef set a plate of food on the table for Olivia.

"So, Kelly was telling me that Garrett has a poetry thing next week and I thought we could all go." Lena said.

"That sounds fun." Stef said.

"Who's Garrett?" Olivia asked as she ate.

"Jenna and Kelly's son." Mariana answered. "He's fifteen, like Jesus and I."

"Hey Olivia." Lena started. "If you like playing basketball and swimming, Anchor Beach have really great basketball and swimming teams. You can try out for the teams, if you want."

"I'll think about it." Olivia typed.
