Survive or Die

Ava's POV

It's been a month since that jackass left telling us this is a death game. So far, 2,000 people have died. We haven't even located where the boss room is. Even though I am a beta tester I haven't even been able too.That's why I'm going to a meeting that is being held so we can already this boss.Will I die if we find this boss room? Or will I see another day in this world?

I hid my face with my cape but took a glance up every ten seconds. I started walking into the stadium and took a seat away from everybody.

Yes, I am antisocial.

The stadium was full of voices which all talked about the same conversation.

The boss room.

"Alright alright! Everyone settle down!" A blue haired man shouted from the crowd coming to the middle of the stadium.

Diavel.Leader of a raiding group.

"So I know most of you are a little down that 1 month has pasted and 2,000 people are dead-" He speaks but is quickly cut off.

"2,000 people are dead?!" Someone is the crowd yelled.

Fucking idiots.

"It hasn't even been a month yet!"

Yes it has.

"And I know more of you are down because we haven't even cleared the first boss yet-" He says but again is cut off.

"I thought we were almost done!" Someone cried.

Get out more. I thought.

"We really are fucked!" Another guy yelled from the crowd.

You know what, he has a point there.

"You guys know there are 100 floors right?" Diavel stated.

"WHAT?!" The whole crowd screamed in horror.

"Oh jeez, I'm just making things worst! Point is we found the boss room!" Diavel announced and the crowd gasped.

"With help of the beta tester we were able to locate-"

"Beta testers!" Someone screamed and Diavel exploded.

"Oh god damn it! What do you want Kibaou?" Diavel yelled to the top of the stadium and I saw a player with spiky orange hair.

"Beta testers! Beta tester shouldn't be trusted! There the reason we're stuck in this game! They should give up there items and supplies right now!" Kibaou shouted to the crowd and my hands form into fist.

We had no idea this was going to happen!

I wanted to yell back out but I had to hold myself back.

"Kibaou, that's not true." Diavel argued but Kibaou shot back.

"They played this game before anyone else! They know there way around this mess!" He spat but somebody emerged from the crowd.

"The beta testers did play this game before us but they had no idea what was going on." The tall, dark-skin man spoke out.

At least someone understands beta testers...

"And who the hell are you?" Kibaou questioned him.

"My name is Agil and I have something to say. Does everyone have this little book?" He said holding it out so people could see.

"Yes."

"Yeah."

"Yup."

"No." I hear."Wait can I change my answer?"

No.

"This is a Guidebook made by the beta testers to survive this world. Everyone has it yet no one read it." He said.

He has a point.No one reads now a days.

"Dude but there's like 80 pages." Someone whined from the crowd of players.

"2,000 people are dead!" He hissed.

"They are?!" The crowd screamed.

People like these make me remember why my faith in humanity is gone.

"I'm so done with you people." Agil sighed and sat back down. Kibaou also sat down, having nothing to say.

"Okay then let's see what this has." Diavel says and takes out his guide book.

"When you enter the first boss room he will throw wave after wave of minions at you. You must team up in groups to attack and defend." He read."Hey this isn't haft bad." Diavel mumbles to himself.

"Alright guys you heard the book, Team up!" He smiled.

Shit.

I don't have any friends.

I look around and notice everyone is already in groups.

"Hey." I hear and I flinch. I look over to my right and see this boy with Raven black hair and dark eyes.

"You got left out too, huh?" He asked.

"Not even." I answer, surprised at myself to even speak back."It's just everyone seems like there already friends."

"So your solo too? Wanna form a party with me?" He asked, I just stare at him.

"You heard what the guy said. We can't beat the boss room on our own, and it would only be for this fight." He backed himself up. I look at the boy closely. I guess he seems trusting. I sigh and nod. He opens his menu and sends me a friend request. I accepted.I look at the top next to my name.Kirito.I turned to my left and see another person by themselves.

"We should ask her to join." Kirito just speaks and walks to her.

Great.

I have to socialize so more.

I start walking to her as well.

"Hey I'm Kirito and this is Ava.Would you like to join our guild?"He asked her. I could see her bit her lip but then nodded. After she joins I look right next to Kirito's name.Asuna.

"Alright! Looks like everyone's teamed up. We meet tomorrow at 10:00 in the morning. Meeting adjourned!"He yelled and everyone heads out. I quickly move and start walking away from Kirito and Asuna.

-----TIME LAPSE-----

I sit alone by myself eating my food, MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS, when Kirito comes.

"Hey can I sit?" He questions and I nod.

There was a moment of silence.

"You know the bread taste better with this." He randomly spoke and takes out a jar.

What is that?

I look at it strangely.

I tap it and put some on my bread.

Cream?

I stare at it in shock.

I thought there wasn't any cream in this world.

"Good, huh?"He grins. I take a big bite out of it.

I chew and swallow.

My god,

This taste so much better!

I began to devour my beard before I hear Kirito talk again.

"Whoa, slow down!" He chuckles. The tiny (the smallest) smile appears on my face but then quickly goes away.

"It's good." I commented. He looks at me and smiles.

How can this guy be so happy?

I studied him for a while.

Doesn't he know we're in a death trap?

-----TIME LAPSE-----

"So looks like there were a little more stairs than I thought." Diavel shrugs.

"I could feel my lungs trying to kill me!" Someone panted. I heard someone else throw up.

"God this is just sad." Diavel sighs.

I agreed but I was pretty tired myself.

"Okay, just take a breather and we'll regroup in an hour." Diavel announces and everyone drops to the ground.

-----1 HOUR LATER-----

"Jeez guys, I didn't really mean an hour! We've lost so much time! Lets just do this already!" Diavel screams as the boss room lit up and we see our very first boss of the game.

lllfang the Kobold Lord.

He's over two meters tall, muscular, covered in blue-grey fur and has copper red eyes.He took out his bone axe and his leather shield.

Oh. My. God.

Diavel began to order and help everyone and anyone out. I could tell he's a nature born leader just by the way he leaded the groups. I could tell he'd had been important in the real world. Asuna and Kirito are really great fighters. Asuna, I could instantly tell she was a beginner but Kirito....I'm starting to wonder if he's a beta tester. The way he moved just screamed out that he had experience.

I was fighting one of the minions when Kirito yelled my name, warning me.

"Ava!"I turned to see that a minion was going to hit me but I killed it in time. It destroyed my cape though.

God damn it!

It shows my face now.

Great.

I looked over to Asuna and her cape was still with her.Lucky.

The boss was at its final bar and it was red. He threw his axe and shield and took out a Talwar.

"I'll do this." Diavel shouted out, and charged to it.

Wait.

What?!

That isn't a Talwar!

That's a Nodachic!

I was going to warn him but Kirito did first. But it was too late.

lllfang The Kobold Lord sliced at Diavel.

"Diavel!" I called out and ran towards him. Me and Kirito came to his side.

"Here." Kirito told Diavel while he gave him a health potion.

"No, I can't do this anymore. I had such high hopes at first but now, I don't know." He stopped and looked at us.

"You two are beta tester, aren't you?" He asked us. My fits clenched before answering.

Kirito and I nodded.

"Beat the boss for everyone's sake. You two must lead them. Show them that we can beat this world, and see the real one." Diavel let out a soft, sad smile before shattering into crystals. My eyes widen.

H-He's dead.

This is the first person I see die.

"I didn't know you are a beta tester." Kirito whispered. I nodded. I didn't really feel like speaking.

Asuna came over to us.

"I'm by your guys side." She said in a whisper like tone.

"We all switch so we'll all get a shot at lowering his HP down." Kirito ordered and me and Asuna nodded. Asuna and I charged at it. I aimed at it but while I tried to hit it, it tried to slice at me but I was fast enough to dodge it. Then it tried to attack Asuna.

"Asuna! Watch out!" Kirito and I spoke at the same time. The Nodachic didn't hit her but it did destroy her cape. She sliced at it and switch with Kirito. Then, I switch with Kirito slicing at it. Asuna, then Kirito. Kirito finished it once and for all.

A little banner showed up saying 'Congratulations!'.

I glared at the banner.

Is that some type of sick joke?

"Good job guys." Kirito softly smiled at us. Asuna and I grinned back.

"Good job?!" Someone yelled. Kibaou."How is this a good job?! Diavel died!" He screamed.

So did many other people but you don't seem to care about them.

"You two!" He said pointing at me and Kirito. "How did you know about the sword? You two are beta testers, aren't you?!" He screamed at us."I bet there are more beta testers in this room! Show yourselves! Give up all your items right now!" He yelled at the guilds.

Then Kirito suddenly started laughing.

"A beta tester? Don't you dare compare me to them. They were just beginners who didn't even know how to level up! The reason I knew about the sword was because I played monsters like that. I made it higher that any beta tester in this game!" Kirito chuckled with a evil grin.

I know what he's doing.

He's protect the other beta testers.

"That's worse that a beta tester you cheater!" Someone hissed from the crowd.

"A beta and a cheater.....your a beater!"I hear and Kirito starts to smile.

That's the best you could come up with?...

"A beater....I like that. Now don't confuse me with those beta testers. Those....beginners! Along with the rest of you guys." He laughed.

"Hey your not better than us!" Someone said from the crowd. Kirito put on his coat of midnight black.

"My sweet ass coat begs to differ."

"Man he has us there." The guy sighed. Kirito started walking to the doors.

"Hey! What about the brown haired girl?! She was with Kirito the whole time!" I hear.

Crap.

What do I do?

I let out a sickening grin.

Something I learned to do.

"God, took you 'beginners' long enough to find out. You all bore me, and annoy me. Not to mention you're all stupid, I should have expected it!" I smirked.

"Don't act higher up that us!"

"But sweetheart," To a playful and troublemaker look in my eyes, they turned dark and murderous."I really am."

I began walking the way Kirito went.

He turned towards me.

"What did you do that?" He asked.

"Same thing as you I guess. I want to protect the other beta testers."I reply with a shrug.

"You didn't have to do that. I was trying to protect you."

"Well I don't need protecting. I'm the one who protects." I huff.

"Wait!" I hear behind me and Kirito and I both turn.

"Asuna." I let out.

"How did you guys know my name?" She questions us.

"Look at the top left corner next to you health bar." Kirito tells her.

She does and then laughs.

"I'm so silly! Can't believe it was there the whole time." She giggles.

I smile at her.

She reminds me of my sister..

"It was nice meeting you Asuna." I say. "Hopefully we can meet again." I smile as she does too.

"Asuna." Kirito says getting her attention. "If a guild ever asks you to join them, agree. You are a very good player. They would be lucky to have you." He informs her and she nods, taking the advice.

"Goodbye Asuna." I wave to her and me and Kirito walk threw the doors. When we get to the second floor I over to my former guild buddy.

"Well, your good damn player Kirito." I break the silence.

"Not so bad yourself." He smiled at me. I sent him a friend request.

Something I should have done with Minako.

"Friends?" He accepts.

"Friends." I smiled.

"Good bye swordsman." I wave.

"Good bye Jackass."He smirks.

I see what he did there.

I wave and start exploring the second floor.
