Jeju Island (PT. 1)

-J-Hope POV-

Seeing Mai smile and laugh is really rewarding, I hadn't seen her this happy in a while. It feels great.

Perhaps this is the time to finally bring back the old days. Sneak out to see her and only be in love. Not having to worry or be scared for a while.

I plan on taking her out.

On a date.

Not just any date though.

Like a real memorable date she'll always remember.

But in order to do that, I gotta think of an amazing plan to do so. If not, my management can scold me big time

If only I had the guts to tell them, I can't continue to hide it like Jimin does. He has different reasons but mine are just out of the picture.

Who knows how they might feel about this, or how my fans could feel if they hear about it.

It's just a risk I'm scared to take.

Yet again, when I look at Mai...I can't bare to think that everything will be ok. She'll be ok..

Sigh.

I really want to make her happy, I want to have her all to myself again. I don't want her to go through with what she's already gone through. If it were up to me, I'd pack up and run away with her.

But this is the real world and in the real world you need to think rationally.

I just hope we get through it, together.

Jin: As much as I'd hate to ruin the fun, our manager is asking where we are, which is our cue.

I put my arm around my girl, "I'll see you soon."

Mai pouted.

Taehyung: Don't make that face *pouts*

Jungkook: Yeah, you should smile, like this! *makes Lena smile by pinching her cheek*

Lena: Omg! *jerks away surprised and turns red*

Jungkook laughed.

Namjoon: Okkk enough now. We need to go, take care Mai.

Mai: I will..

Yoongi: Bye Lena.

He hugged her.

Lena: *blushing* B-b-byyee...

Jungkook hugged her too.

She squealed and hugged him tightly.

Mai: *rolls her eyes* you're getting annoying now..

I giggled, "Don't act like you don't get excited when I hug you."

Mai: We've done more than just hug though..

Everyone: O.O

Damn, I didn't expect her to put our business out there like that..haha.

I cleared my throat, "Uhm..whatever, I'll just see you soon. Ok?"

She nods and we exchange a sweet kiss.

Detective Seung assured Mai to call him whenever or for whatever. He really has stepped up his game, I can imagine all the stress he's gone through.

After we officially said our goodbyes, Jae drove us home and I got all sad. Again.

Why can't I just turn back time to the point I was a trainee, and fix my mistake. Shin-Mae and I would've never done anything, and perhaps she wouldn't be crazy.

It just really hurts me to know I'm the cause of Shin-Mae's terrorizing existence.

The drive home was pretty quiet, the guys and I didn't really say much. I mean, what's there to say? We are on high gossip almost all around the world. Everyone knows what we're going through, except for the big climax.

Which is Jimin's and mine relationship status, if anyone else was to find out about it, it'd be harder for my group and I than it already has been.

But despite all of that, I really want to take Mai out on a date. I realized I haven't done so, since at first we did hid ourselves, then it's been that way. If only I had a great excuse to tell my manager, just so I can spend quality time with my girl. It'd make her happy.

We arrived back at the dorm and told our management we went out for a joy ride. Of course we got scolded due to the "danger" thats out there but.. we didn't really care.

We all knew exactly where we were but none of us was going to snitch on anyone.

I walked into my room and took off my shirt.

"Hey, do you think I can go see Hwayoung later? I really miss her." Jimin said as he walked inside.

"I don't think that's a good idea, we just got-"

"You really think I care if I get caught?" He asked bluntly.

"Don't you?" I asked bluntly right back.

"Well.." he smiled, "I used to. But not anymore, I prefer to get caught and then explain myself rather than confessing and looking for excuses." He said.

Wow. He makes a good point, thats not a bad idea, but knowing Jimin... he might panic at first

"You know..." I began, "You do what you want, I'm not going to judge you because I'm in the same position as you so.."

"You ok?" He asked out of curiosity.

"Yeah." I answered.

"No you're not."

"Yeah I am!"

"Nope."

I groaned, "You're annoying!"

He giggled, "Do you need help with something?" He asked, "Such as.. a way to sneak out with Mai?"

I swear everyone in this dorm reads minds, we're all wizards.

"Actually.." I responded, "yeah.. I kind of want to take Mai on a date, but how will I do that? We can't leave this place without secure authority and without a good excuse. So.."

"Ok," he said, "First things first, just take the authority with you and explain to them whats really going down. Then just tell your management its a family emergency or something, I mean... I've done it a few times." He shrugged.

"Jinjja? And they believed you?"

"Family is important."

True true..

Hmm..

"The authority let you do what you want?" I asked.

He nods, "Of course! Although I did have to pull a few strings.."

Hmm.

Not bad

That could work.

I smiled, "Thanks, I guess that could work."

"You're welcome!" He cheered, "Now you haven't answered my question, should I go see Hwayoung?"

"No," I told him, "Just Skype with her instead, it's safer and plus you won't get suspicious."

He nods, "Good point, I guess I'll just wait.." he pouted.

I giggled, "What's with the face?"

"It's just...man she's so cute! I love when she kisses me out of no where and calls me babe, I love it when her eyes lit up when she sees me. I love her voice, her hugs, her presence! Ahh~ I just love her." He said and looked at me, "I love her."

A big smile plastered on my face, "That much huh?"

"You have no idea, I'd literally drop everything just to be with her. She's the only one for me, as cheesy as that sounds, it's the truth."

I chuckled, "Hey I don't blame you, I feel the same way about Mai. That girl has me wrapped around her finger and she hasn't even noticed."

"Pfft. Lucky, Hwayoung knows I can't live without her by my side and sometimes bullies me!" He said giggling, "She knows exactly how to handle me but I still don't complain because I'm telling you, I'm in love with this girl."

"And thats great man," I assured him, "I'm happy for you.."

I lowered my eyes, thinking about how much I miss Mai, and how much I crave to take her out.

Sometimes I question my love for her, I mean, just look at Jimin? Hwayoung is such a lucky girl, she has the best boyfriend in the world. She's set for life. Jimin's done things that I haven't even thought of doing.

He wears a promise ring all the time, but no one knows it besides me and the guys. That's because everyone thinks its just a ring, but it has such a meaning behind it. I know Jimin will end up marrying her in the end.

Will I be lucky enough to end up with Mai in the end too? I'd hate to think not..

Jimin put his hand on my shoulder, "It'll be ok, you'll see her soon. Trust me," he smiled.

"I do."

Suddenly, Jungkook walked in with a dumb smile on his face.

Jimin: What are you smiling about?

Jungkook: A girl~

"Who?" I asked, in curiosity.

Jungkook looked at us and smiled.

Jungkook: Just a girl.

Jimin: Let me guess, Lena?

He giggled cutely and left the room

"Well wasn't that something." I said.

"Definitely."

We looked at each other and laughed.

"I'll catch ya later Hobi, I'm gonna shower." He told me.

"Ok, you do that, I'll just be here."

He nods and leaves my room.

Just as soon as he did that, I locked my door and dialed Mai.

Let me just tell her what's going to happen before I do anything

"You have reached the voicemail of.."

What the hell? She didn't answer..

Omg something happened

No no no. Hoseok calm down. You just left her place and she was fine. She still is fine.

I took a deep breath and dialed again.

Please pick up..

"You have reached the voicemail of..."

Shit!

"Seung Jae!" I shouted in worrisome and darted out the door.

He wasn't anywhere to be found.

Namjoon: You ok man?

"Where's detective Seung?!" I asked anxiously.

Yoongi: Chill out, he just left

"No he can't leave! Seung Jae!" I shouted.

Jin: What's the matter??

I pushed everyone out of my way and sprinted down the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Just as he was leaving the door, I reached him.

He yelped, "Hey! Hoseok? What the hell?"

"You have to go check on Mai!" I told him.

He got serious, "What? Why? What's happening?"

"I called her several times and she isn't answering, I know we shouldn't jump to conclusions but after all that's happened.. I can't risk to ignore it!" I exclaimed.

He noticed my worried state and held my arm, "Don't worry," he said, "I'll go take a look, I'll call you. Ok?"

I nod, "Please do, tell me if she's ok. Please."

He got in his car, "Will do Hoseok." He assured as he turned on his police sirens and drove away.

A huge weight is on my shoulders, I'm worried sake about her. But yet I have to act normal, I can't let my management know what's really going on.

Sigh.

Please Mai, please be safe..

-Detective Seung POV-

To think I spent years tracking one maniac down just to end up dealing with another one.

It really sucks.

Although that's what I signed up for, at least I avenged my sister, right?

Sigh.

Man I don't know what's right anymore.

So much has happened.

I haven't seen my family in weeks, all because I'm too busy protecting those in need.

But....it isn't just any other person.

It's Mai, Mai Diamond, such a youthful appearance and warm hearted girl. She truly is Eunah in another form.

Just like I vowed to protect my sister, is exactly how I vowed to protect Mai. I know she means no harm and for sure she doesn't deserve to go through this.

She won't die on me, I won't make the same mistake I did with Eunah...

But one could never be too comfortable with their surroundings, this can happen to anyone.

As I thought about how concerned Hoseok was, I decided to dial Mai myself.

"You have reached the voicemail of.."

??

Hmm..that's odd. She really isn't answering, let me check the GPS.

I took out my ipad and traced her exact location.

?!!

She's in her house?

If she's in her house....then why isn't she answering the phone?

I thought for a moment.

"She's in trouble." I concluded out loud and hit the gas, I drove like a mad man.

Honking my horn and dodging cars, all just to get to Mai and save her.

I drifted at the corner and down her block, once I parked and darted out the car, I whipped out my gun and crashed through her door once I let myself in through the secure gates.

"FREEZE." I shouted with my gun pointed.

Silence.

And darkness.

Is she even home?

"Mai?" I called out.

Silence again.

It's so quiet, you can hear a pin drop.

Lowering my gun, I took a few steps forward, "Mai!" I called out again.

No answer.

My heart is racing but I'm on full alarm, is she home or not?

*ding*

The hairs at the back of my neck stood up, that sound came from the kitchen. Raising my gun again, I slowly approached the kitchen.

1...2..3!

I jumped in front of the entrance only to find nothing there.

No one to be exact.

"Mai are you home?" I asked out loud and flicked on the light.

There's nothing, all I see are a few boxes, she must still be moving in.

"Seung Jae?"

I immediately pointed my gun at the one behind me.

She gasped.

It's Mai!

I lowered my gun in relief and hugged her, "Fuck....you scared me."

She chuckled light heartedly, "What are you doing here?" She asked, then got serious, "Omg what happened?"

"No.." I took a deep breath, "Hoseok was worried something happened, you weren't answering your phone." I told her.

Lena: Thats because it's out of service.

She said walking in with a few bags.

"What you got there?" I asked.

Mai: Ingredients.

"For what?" I asked.

Lena: Cupcakes!

Ohh..

Well don't we all feel kind of stupid.

Then again..

I sighed and looked at Mai, "What did I tell you?" I said.

"Huh?" She seemed confused.

"Always bring the GPS with you, you left it here which made me worry more."

Mai: I did? Shit.. I'm sorry, I literally forgot to take it.

I shaked my head, "Please be more responsible."

Lena: Omg you're so CUTE!

I looked at her, "Excuse me?"

Lena: *smiles* Always worrying about Mai and all~ are you sure you're not into her?

Mai: Lena!

I blushed a little and scratched my head, "I don't think that's an appropriate topic to touch." I told her.

Mai: It's not, don't mind her, anyways.. sorry again for the scare. Are Hobi and the guys alright?

I smiled, "Yes, they're safe."

She nods in assurance.

Lena: Is Jungkook ok?

I chuckled, "What's with you and that boy? I mean, technically speaking, he's a minor."

Lena: He's 18, that's grown.

Mai laughed.

Mai: 18 is not grown, Lena.

Lena: It's legal.

Mai: Ugh can you not?

I laughed, "You girls are funny."

Lena: *sniffs* Are the cookies ready?

Cookies?

Oh the ding.

"I think so," I answered, "I heard something ding."

Mai: Then it must be the cookies, would you like to take some home for your kids, Jae?

Hoseok is a very lucky guy to have this lovely girl by his side. I sure hope nothing terrible sets them apart, they truly deserve each other.

I nod in response as I watch Mai carefully take them out and set them on the counter to cool off.

Lena: So you just barged through the doors and intended to save, Mai?

"Of course," I said, "I did promise her I'd be her personal body guard."

Mai giggled

Lena: Yet look what's happened..

Mai: That's enough, Lena. *smiles at Seung Jae* here Detective, I packed 12 just for you and your family, I hope you enjoy them. For sure you must miss them.

I smiled and took the small container from her, "Thank you Mai, this is too sweet of you."

Mai: It's the least I can do after all you've done for me.

Lena: Which hasn't been much..

Mai glared at Lena

Mai: If you don't stop, you won't see Jungkook.

Lena walked away.

I sighed, "She's kind of right.. I mean.. I haven't been there for-"

"No," she cut me off, "You've done your best, I mean, look, you got me a new house and I can't be more thankful. I know you've done your best and continued to do so, go home and spend time with your family. You deserve it."

She hugged me.

I felt all warm inside and hugged her back, "Thank you so much, I've actually come to love you as my little sister."

She giggled and pulled away, "It's an honor, detective Seung."

I nod, "Well..I guess I'll be going now," I said and backed up, "To eat up these cookies."

She laughed, "Please..by all means, enjoy them."

I nod and proceed to walk out when I remember something.

"Oh wait! Mai!" I called out.

"Yes?" She turned.

"Hoseok is expecting a call from you."

She smiled, "Thanks, Jae."

With that, I went home happily to my family.

-Mai POV-

Lena gladly let me borrow her phone and I quickly dialed my boyfriend.

"Who is this?" He asked in a serious tone.

"I miss you.."

"Mai?"

"Who else?"

He chuckled, "I'm so glad you're ok, wait are you ok? Oh my gosh where are you?"

I giggled, "I'm home, safe and sound."

"Ok good, did detective Seung go see you?"

I nod, "He did, in fact he told me you sent him? All because I didn't answer."

"I'm sorry, I thought something happened."

"Sorry.."

"No its fine, you're ok so I'm relieved."

I smiled, "So why'd you call me?" I asked.

"Eh?"

"Why'd you call me in the first place?"

"Hmm? Ohhh! Right. Well uhm.. I'm not sure if you'd be on board with this."

"On board with what?" I asked curiously.

"I already made up my mind so don't bother to talk me out of it, ok?" He said.

"Ok? But.. what's this about?"

"How would you like to go on a date with me?"

I laughed.

"What's so funny?" He asked.

"A date? Really babe? Haha. Of course I'd be on board!"

"It's not just any date though." He said.

"What do you have in mind?"
