It was riding on 11 pm and I had yet to get a call. I was trying to not be the obnoxiously nagging girlfriend but I was worried a bit.
I had called at 10, and she still hadn't called me back.
Finally deciding to just call again, instead of ringing, it went to voicemail. Something wasn't right, that was obvious.
Kyrin said she would call me but now she wasn't answering the phone? It just wasn't sitting right.
Tiffany sat in front of me. I had a appearance tonight so she had to watch Eissa, but I knew that she was noticing how my mood had changed.
"She's still not answering?"
I shook my head. "No and that isn't like her. I haven't talked to her since she told me she made it to her parents. I should have just went with her."
"You have business to handle J, now I'm all for this relationship but you can't always stop your money flow for a relationship."
Shooting her a look, I spoke. "I've done it for you before."
Tiffany thought my statement over before flipping her hair. "You right bitch. You right. Never mind. Gone head. I just wanted to sound like Iyanla for a moment."
"Mhm." I went to type in her number again but Tiff stopped me.
"Call her sister."
My eyebrows furrowed. "How Sherlock? I don't have her number."
"Oh, but I do." Tiffany jumped up smiling and handed me her phone.
"Why do you have... never mind." I let the question go for I was more worried about my girlfriend at the moment.
I grabbed Tiffany's phone and typed the number in on my phone. It rang a few times before a voice called out and I hit speaker phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey, is this Phoebe?"
"Yeah. Whose this?" I could hear talking in the background.
"It's Janet. Is Kyrin there?"
"No, actually she isn't."
Placing my hand against my forehead, I asked. "Phoebe, where is she? Don't bs me either."
Phoebe sighed. "Thank God you called Janet. We've looked everywhere for her but we can't find her. We got into it before she left and she just took off. She didn't say where or how she was going to get back. She just went walking."
My face contorted into one of utter disbelief. "So how long has she been gone?"
"For at least 7 hours."
"7 hours?!" My voice heightened before I realized who I was talking to and calmed myself. "I'm on my way to Texas, so if she comes back before I get there let her know that I'm coming. Send me your address."
"She'll come back soon. You shouldn't worry on it. I'm sure she's fine."
"It wasn't a question Phoebe. Don't fight me on this, because it is already set in stone."
"Okay. Bye."
The phone beeped signaling that Phoebe had hung up. I looked up at my friend with my face still the same as I stood up. "Forget the gig, I'm heading to Texas. Call and tell Joey to get the flight ready. I want to get there as soon as I can."
Tiffany nodded as she started moving as well. "Okay, I'll watch Eissa until you get back."
"You sure? I can take him."
She shook her head. "Hell no, we don't know nothing about them people except for Kyrin and I don't want our son around that."
"You would swear that you carried Eissa instead of me."
Tiff shrugged. "Oh well. I'm about to call Joey. Go pack some clothes. You got a flight ahead of you."
Nodding, I climbed the steps and just began packing what I saw. I didn't really care what was packed because getting to Kyrin was my main point of focus right now.
When I came down the steps, Joey was standing there looking for me. "Alright Janet, Matt's going to fly us there."
"Us?"
"You know I'm not letting you go to Texas by yourself. You must not remember who you're dealing with."
Eissa's footsteps were heard as he came running towards me. "Mommy wait!"
I looked down at him. "Prince, you're supposed to be sleep."
"I want to say bye." He hugged my legs and I embraced him back.
"Mommy's coming back." I assured him. "And when I do get back we can do whatever you want to do."
"Even read to you?"
Smiling softly, I replied. "Even that."
He nodded excitedly. "Okay mommy. Night night."
"Night Eissa."
After hearing my words, Eissa shot back up the stairs and to his room.
Hugging Tiffany and telling her to keep me posted, I rolled my suitcase outside and to the truck. Joey picked the suitcase up, placing it in the trunk for me as I got in the passenger seat.
My leg was bouncing harshly and Joey noticed. "Calm down, she'll be fine. We will get there and find her. I know your nerves are really bad because you then got into the front seat."
"I should have went." I facepalmed myself. "She literally told me she didn't want to go alone. I should have went with her. If I did maybe—."
"Things would have still worked out exactly how they're working out right now. Nothing said or done would affect Gods work. You know that."
I nodded silently even though guilt was biting through my veins and eating at my self conscience.
The rest of the drive to the airport hanger was silent, with me being in my thoughts and Joey focusing on the road.
When we arrived, I simply got out and sat on the plane. Joey followed, bringing my bags in tow.
"You must be sure about this one Janet..."
Looking at him, I questioned. "What do you mean?"
"You just blew off a gig for this woman. I can tell you feel something for her."
"I have felt something for her since the moment I laid eyes on her. I just had a mission and was in mama bear mode when I first encountered her. Still, she caught my eye and when she proved that she wasn't a pushover, it only stood out more."
Joey nodded softly as he smiled. "We might play around a lot, but I think high of her. She carries herself well and she's great with Eissa."
"True. Eissa loves her."
"That doesn't bother you none?"
My face furrowed a bit. "No. Why would it?"
He shrugged. "I don't know. It's just when my wife and I were working constantly, it was a few months after TJ was born, she got upset about how TJ kind of looked up to the nanny more than he did her. Ya know?"
"I'll be honest here, I haven't felt any type of way about that. Eissa looks up to her, yes, but I wouldn't be upset if sometimes the levels weren't even. One day he may look up to me more, the next day he may look up to Kyrin more." I mumbled. "Doesn't bother me none."
"Alright. I was just making sure. I'm glad that you feel that way J."
I muttered as my mind went back to my initial thoughts. "Yeah I'm okay about that thing but not all things right now."
"She's okay Janet. Don't worry about it. I'm sure she's fine." Joey assured me.
The pilot came over the intercom and I laid my head back against the seat as he spoke. My eyes closed as I took a deep breath.
Kyrin was my biggest worry right now, and I couldn't help but be puzzled and worried sick about her whereabouts.
