An Aqua Laguna to Remember!

19:30, 9 April 2021

Someone give me a good One Piece fanfic to read... or maybe Gintama... perhaps Beelzebub.. idk... being an author isn't enough... I need to read a plot I don't know already....——

I was thrown towards everyone else when I gave no answer to his recognition of me, groans pushing past my lips when my back violently hit and crumbled the wall. How does falling from insane heights with my devil fruit not hurt, but being thrown everywhere by these crazy asses does. Top hat, or Lucci, from what I picked up, turned into a giant leopard and then the fires that they mentioned earlier went off. When we could hear people shouting down the halls of the mansion, he kicked an air blade throughout the entire building and it started collapsing.

Paulie grabbed Iceberg, but Lucci stopped him in his tracks when he tried to escape. I gasped when Luffy tried to defend them, only to be stabbed through the stomach by the leopard man. The captain was thrown out of the building and off into the distance, and Zoro had the same treatment, except he wasn't stabbed in the stomach. I tried to hit him in the stomach with a spike studded fist, and he was barely even phased. He tried to stab me with a finger, and it didn't pierce me but FUCK did it hurt. He dented me just under my left shoulder.

He kicked me back, hitting me straight in the stomach and pushing the air from my lungs. I fell into the already breaking building wall, causing it to crumble. A bunch of it fell on me, but considering I had my devil fruit activated, it didn't hurt as much as it would have. I could hear yelling from Nami, calling all three of the other Straw Hats here. Shit, something must be happening. I tried to get up, but the weight was so much. I may not have gotten crushed but HOW MUCH IS PILED ON ME RIGHT NOW?!

I tried to take in a breath, not being able to expand my chest very much. Why did this have to happen at such a horrible time? It was getting so hot. Not just because I'm confined in a small place, but rather because the fires probably got here. I may have a high melting point, but that doesn't mean I won't melt in this makeshift furnace that the building decided to put me in. Nami screamed again and I gritted my teeth, trying to turn around. I succeeded and pushed my hands against the rubble. With a huff, I pushed some more and finally got it to budge. I heard a bunch of things fall, and I sat up, finally pushing off the last of it. Immediately, I held my breath as I was surrounded by smoke. I could feel blood seeping through my metal skin and down my forehead.

Right after, I saw Chopper push aside a piece of the wall and climb out of a pile of bricks as well. We both looked at the scene. No one but two unconscious men tied together with a rope. I quickly picked up Zoro's sword, and helped Paulie and Iceberg onto his back. I finally needed to inhale, and when I did, I coughed. "Chopper, follow after me, I'll break the glass and you follow," I breathed out. He slowly nodded. He wasn't looking good. I noticed a mouse on the floor and picked him up too. I nodded to the doctor and gave myself a running start, jumping out of the window with my devil fruit activated. I tumbled when I hit the floor, but I saw Chopper land alright. When I gave a quick look around, I could see Nami. She doesn't seem too bad. A violent coughing fit aged through my chest, but I tried my best to ignore it. Everything was getting so blurry. I stumbled over to Chopper and carefully took the two men off of his back, and he collapsed on his way over to the orange haired woman.

There was so much mumbling around me, but I made sure to lay out the men on their backs like Chopper would have told me to. I fell onto my knees next to Paulie, holding my head and checking to see if he had any fatal wounds. He had so much punctures in his chest, I have no idea how he lasted this long. As if on cue, I blacked out.

I was awake now, but I just needed to rest my eyes a bit. I had so much smoke in them. Or maybe I just didn't want to wake up. I moved my hand a little to make sure I still had the green head's sword, and sure enough, I did.

"(y/n) I know you're awake. Hurry up, we have to go find the others!" That was definitely Nami just now. If I could have slumped farther into the ground, I would have. "Are you listening to me?!"

"Yes, yes, I'm listening," I sighed, sitting up and swiping the blood off of my face. There was a bunch of shipwrights surrounding me, sweatdropping at our casual attitudes. I fixed the sword to my hip after that.

The navigator ran off to the unconscious doctor, and then started chopping at his face like he wasn't injured enough. I pulled myself together and ran over to the two, grabbing Nami's hand to stop her from further killing him. I noticed that I was now in my regular body, and that I was beat up like hell. I almost felt sorry for myself. Oh yea. I looked into my pocket and saw the mouse that I saved. It crawled up my arm and onto my shoulder, promptly pointing at the man who spotted the white animal right away. We walked over to one another and I handed him the mouse.

"Thanks. I'm surprised you got him as well," he hummed, letting the small thing into the pocket of his coat.

I gave him a thumbs up, replying with, "No problem. It was super cute and I'm surprised I didn't crush it when I tumbled out of the building!"

"That last bit is concerning."

"Is it?"

"(y/n), Chopper woke up!" I heard my crew's navigator shout. I ran off, signaling the end of that conversation, and then made it to the others. Chopper shifted back into his small boddy and started patching both of us up, including himself. Right after this, Nami explained the real situation to us.

Chopper was practically sparkling as he asked, "Then it's not that Robin doesn't like us?!" She nodded and confirmed it. "I'm so glad!" he cried out.

"So, Chopper, (y/n), we have to find Luffy and the others right away and rescue Robin!" Nami said, smiling widely at us.

I wiped the sweat off my brow and gave a long sigh, "I'm so glad Robin is staying with us. She's like an older sister to me." Nami grinned and agreed with me immediately while Chopper asked where the others were. We didn't know. The doctor transformed into his huge human form right after that, and stated he would do his best with his hands raised. I wonder how his bandages stay on.

"You guys, wait," Iceberg said as he approached us. "I don't care if you go after Nico Robin, but the sea train for government personnel will depart at 11 tonight. Well.. this is just my guess, but it's highly possible that they'll take that train. In other words, Nico Robin will, too. After that, the sea train will be suspended for the time being, since Aqua Laguna is coming soon. If you miss that train, you can't sail out, of course, which means there's no means to leave this island."

"Oh no! This is bad! What time is it now?!" Nami shrieked with her hands holding her head.

"10:30," he responded.

"What?! We've only got 30 minutes left! Hey, can't you do something? Stop the sea train for a while!" she pleaded to him.

"Well, it's destination, Enies Lobby, is an island off-limits to those other than government personnel. The engine driver is also from the government. He won't listen to me," he said.

I ran a hand down my face, "The government is being a real piece of shit. I should have become a pirate a long ass time ago."

He flicked his eyes to me with a quirked brow, but Nami drew our attention back to the situation at hand. That's when Paulie woke up, and all of the shipmates turned to him. He defended our crew and told them that they needed to help us get Robin back as much as they could. He didn't tell them who the real culprits were, and that they were unknown masked men, but they listened nonetheless and apologize to us when he accused them of giving Galley-La a bad name. Eventually, a bunch of yagara were gathered up and we rode in the boats down the choppy currents of the waterways. The storm was definitely close now. Paulie and Nami headed off towards the station, while Chopper and I focused on finding the three other crewmates that were scattered around town.

We called out their names as we road through the town, and we all broke into different groups. Where the hell are they? Did Zoro wander off to another island or something? Leading Luffy? I gave up on shouting and left the boat I was on, leaving it to the guy I was riding with. I jumped onto a building and jumped across the roofs until.. is that... is that Zoro? Are those his green pants? I slapped a hand over my mouth, trying not to die laughing right then and there. This is a serious situation, (y/n), get your shit together! I shook my head and looked again. Then I busted out laughing. Rain started pouring down after that, and I started jumping across the buildings to grab him.

"WHAT'RE YOU DOING OUT THERE?! YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?!" I could hear shouting coming from the upper level of the island.

I brushed some hair out of my face and just kept going. No point in going back up if I don't save this idiot from dying. Then, I heard someone else yelling. "(Y/N) DO YOU SEE ZORO?!" the doctor of the ship yelled out. I looked behind me and gave him a thumbs up. He nodded and waited at the ledge of the second level of the island. No need to put more people in danger. "HURRY AND GET HIM! I CAN SEE THE WAVE COMING!" he warned.

I finally got to Zoro's chimney and stood beside it. "Zoro! Can you hear me?!" I called to him.

"Eh?! (y/n)? Why's it you?" was the response I got.

"The hell? Fuck you! I'm putting myself in danger for you!" I retaliated, kicking the chimney and causing it to slant slightly.

"H-hey! Don't do that! You're making it worse!" he shouted. "Do you have my sword with you? I can feel it near." When I said yes, he instructed me to place it in his hand. I did so, even if I wanted to stab him with it, and watched as he sliced down the building just as the huge wave was just about to hit us. "What the hell is that..?"

I jumped off of the roof and threw him on my shoulder, using the falling bits of the chimney to jump to the stairs that lead to the second level of the island. He was just staring at the wave. I put him down when we got to the platform. Luffy and Nami landed there soon after, but tuff nuts, another wave hit us. I tried to hold my breath and Zoro grabbed hold of my waist while he held tightly to the stone railings beside us. My hands were on my mouth to keep any air from escaping my weakened body, but when some ropes wrapped around Zoro and I, I was pulled up out of the water and onto another flat surface. Just a big above the other platform we were on. Paulie and Chopper were on this platform. They must have been the ones to get us out.

"Hurry! We're not safe here either! Get onto the higher level!" Paulie cried out, running for the staircase behind us. Chopper got so scared that he grabbed onto Zoro's face, making me laugh as we all climbed the stairs. When we finally got up, we collapsed on the grass of the new level of the island where Kokoro was.

I heaved a sigh and laid on my back next to Luffy. Zoro finally pulled the reindeer off his face, and then Luffy piped up, "Oh..? Come to think of it, why were you alsob being chased by the wave? Were you on this side of town?" He was looking straight at Zoro.

"What? W-well not particularly.." the swordsman grunted.

"He was stuck in a chimney," Chopper chimed, smiling innocently. This got Zoro to strangle him immediately.

I cracked up and sat up, nudging Luffy with an elbow, "It's true! His legs were sticking out and he looked like some seaweed!" I bellowed, trying to breath between my laughs. Luffy started laughing along with me, clapping his hands together and making fun of his clumsiness when Nami interrupted and said he was no different, being stuck between some buildings. I wiped some tears from my eyes, and then Nami caught up everyone on the situation at hand, including new information of the train leaving with Sanji, Robin, and Usopp on it.

Zoro scratched his cheek and then looked towards Luffy, who stood up and looked out to the sea. "What do you wanna do, captain?"

We all looked at him expectantly, and he replied with, "There's nothing to think about. Let's sail out right away and follow them! We're off to rescue Robin!" He then turned to Paulie, "Oi, rope guy. Please let us use a ship. No, rather than a ship, isn't there any other sea train leaving?"

"Puffing Tom is the only sea train in this world. It's a miraculous ship that is the result of the combined efforts of a team led by a legendary shipwright," the blond responded.

"Then let us borrow a ship! The strongest and fastest one in town!" the captain said, a fist up in determination.

Paulie went to call us idiots, along with other shipwrights, for wanting to leave right now. This was an Aqua Laguna that they'd never seen before, and even the backstreets were beyond damaged now. He explained that there was no way that any ship could stand the insanity of the waters right now, and no other ship has even with regular Aqua Lagunas. He stood up and ordered some people around after telling us to wait until morning.

"If.. if we are to wait until morning, will our wish come true?" Nami asked. "I know Enies Lobby. When I heard it was a government island, I remembered something. Isn't that place.. Isn't that place where the Gates of Justice are?"

"What's that?" Zoro questioned.

Nami just kept looking at Paulie as she talked, "Enies Lobby is teh Government-owned judicial island. What's there is a court in name only. Being taken to Enies Lobby itself is considered to be proof of guilt. After passing through this empty court without stopping, criminals soon reach huge, cold steel doors. These doors are called the Gates of Justice. Once criminals go through them, they won't see the sunlight ever again- they're doors of despair. This is because there are only two places that you can reach after sailing out from the harbor beyond these gates. One is the greatest military force for justice in the world- Navy headquarters. The other is Impel Down, the large, deep sea prison, where torture rooms and gallows stand side by side, that holds vicious prisoners who once ran amok all over the world. In other words, Enies Lobb is a judicial institution that criminals are just dumped into without being shown mercy. Isn't that right?! Robin's got a bounty on her head. No matter where she's taken, she'll see ell beyond that point! Each moment we sit here talking, she gets closer to the Gates of Justice! There's no way we can wait until morning!" (Sheeesh that was long)

We all stood in silence for a minute. Paulie responded that we shouldn't go there even if we could because it was not a place for pirates to go unless we wanted a war with the World Government. The shipwrights started yelling about how we can't go and how they wouldn't give us a ship, but from the way that Luffy was looking, he couldn't even bother to listen.

"Then we'll steal a ship!" he shouted as he slammed his foot down in front of him just as a wave crashed into the group of shipwrights. "Our friends are waiting! Don't stand in our way!"

Just as we were about to fight the entirety of Galley-La for a ship, Kokoro stopped us. "It's you who's in the wrong here, Straw Hat. Paulie is right, you idiot."

Luffy turned around and yelled, "Shut up! This is none of y-"

"None of my business?" she finished for him and then started talking again. "Well, listen. If we let you be, you're gonna risk your lives, aren't you? Look. If there exists a ship that can get through that Aqua Laguna, it could only be a sea train built by a legendary man."

"But it's not here right now! That's why we're trying to go in a ship!" our captain tried to explain.

She turned around and looked downwards. "If you're prepared to die, then come with me. I'll give you a ride.. on a sea train!"

----This old mermaid will never leave my mind. Long live Kokoro.
