Robin
10:21, 8 April 2021"Oi..."
I rolled over. Why was I being woken up when I could already hear my alarm blaring at me. Why can't they just let it do its job.
"Oi."
I rolled again. Can they just shut up?
"OI! GET THE HELL UP, WOMAN!" My eyebrow twitched as I finally realized who decided to bug me. My eyes pried open and I looked up to see Zoro towering over me.
"Hey hey hey, if you were horny, you didn't have to wake m- AGH!" I grunted when the hilt of a sword pushed into my stomach. "IT WAS A JOKE, A FUCKING JOKE! LET ME LIVE!" I shrieked, trying to push the sword off of me. He just stared down at me blankly, then finally took it off. "Gosh, that's not the right sword to use when you're hor-"
"SHUT UP ALREADY!" he yelled, and I ran away immediately when he tried to kick me. He calmed down a bit, crossing his arms over his chest and sighing. "How could you not wake up with the sirens going off?" he asked.
I stared at him with a deadpan and said, "You are definitely not the person that should be asking about how I slept through something. You. Of all people. HA! Never say that to me again."
I went to use the ground behind me to stand up, but was met with air and I fell off of the roof of the building we were both on. I fell asleep up here after Chopper and Sanji left Zoro and me at the inn. Luffy and Nami were going to see a guy named Iceberg since he apparently was shot last night. Anyway, back to me falling. I saw Zoro run over and try to grab my flailing hand, but it was too late, I fell to the ground. I was so surprised I didn't even activate my power. I just crashed into a bunch of stray crates.
Sitting up, I climbed out of the crates and spotted a man that probably watched me fall, seeing as he was wide eyed. "Oh! Hello! Could you please tell me what the sirens are about?" I asked, walking up to him while brushing off some wooden debris.
With hearts for eyes, he got down on one knee and grabbed my hand, "WOW! A angel! You must have fallen from heaven! You're beautiful!" he gushed. I scratched the nape of my neck awkwardly at that. All the men here are so forward. Kind of like Sanji.
"Haha.. thank you. Would you please answer my question, though, sir?" I mumbled.
"AH! You can call me Agyo!" he chirped, "And the sirens are about the aqua laguna! It's a storm surge that happens around certain times of the year. The town submerges in water, so everyone evacuates to high ground."
I grinned and gripped the hand that he held onto mine with, shaking it firmly in thanks, "Thanks for the information! You were really helpful, Agyo!" I let go of his hand and turned away to get back to the roof, but the man gripped my hand and pulls me back. "Uh, yes?"
He smiled widely at me and said, "I just wanted to know if you were free later this week! We could go on a date!"
I opened my mouth to reply, but a heavy thud interrupted me. I didn't even get to turn around before a large hand was placed on my shoulder and Agyo's eyes widened. "Eh? You wanna take this demon woman on a date? Sorry, but she's busy for forever. Never ask again," I heard the deep voice of Zoro grumble behind me. The man said a quick sorry and a goodbye, then he scurried off.
Tilting my head back, I looked at Zoro who was staring straight at the man's retreating figure. "Demon woman? Also, you have a sharp jawline," I hummed. He looked down to see me, and then jumped away when he realized our faces were so close. I rolled my eyes and turned around to look at him. "Anyway, I'll be back. I'm going to try to find Robin too. On higher ground of course. See ya, greenie!" I chimed and then jumped up the buildings to the roofs, looking around.
Somehow, I ended up at a bar. It must have been my alcohol senses tingling. Oh no, am I just female Zoro? No. NO! I'm much more fun than him, and I'm way cooler. Yep. I threw the door to the bar open just as a guy yelled out "SUUUPER!" He was standing in front of the barstools in.. a speedo? and a red tropical button up shirt. His hair was light blue and it was sticking right up. I will admit, his hair was cool. I walked up to the bar stools and sat down next to..
"EH?! CHIMENY?!" I shouted, looking at the small girl.
"Oh hi!" she chirped, waving with her big smile.
I looked beside her, "Kokoro?! So this must be your favorite bar, right?" I asked.
She laughed and nodded, "Yes. Blueno! Get her something good!" she called to the guy behind the counter, who nodded and got me something to drink.
"You know this hot lady?" the blue haired guy asked, leaning over the table to see me. I gave him a little salute and drank from the giant mug that the bartender gave me. He shook his head and moved on, "Anyway, what're you doing over here, old hag?" he questioned again. He has a strange accent, but I kind of like it, I don't know. The guy is likeable. I also noticed he had a metal nose and huge forearms. Wonder what's happening there.
"The aqua laguna is coming," she said shortly.
He leaned his forearm on the table, saying, "Is that so? No wonder the wind's so strong!" She asked if he'd fortified his house, and he said that there was nothing to fortify. He sure seemed fine about that. I wonder what happened to the house. She suddenly mentioned that same guy that Nami was talking about, Iceberg, and blue hair said that pirates were rumored to be the ones to do it. Oh no, they probably think it was the Straw Hats, huh? They continued talking, and he yelled at her when she brought up the world government and CP9, only to say it was a rumor.
"It's the fact that it's been a rumor for so long that's scary. They eliminate people without being noticed. If you get involved, you'll lose your life," she said seriously, taking a gulp of her beer.
I took off after that, deciding that I should probably get back to searching. After walking around a bit, I saw in the papers that they really did think it was us who attacked Iceberg. "HEY!" I turned around when I heard someone yell. It was a blond guy in a lot of denim. "Have you seen a man with a straw hat or a girl with orange hair? Or maybe a guy with gr- WHY ARE YOU DRESSED LIKE THAT?!" I tried to say something but he cut me off. "NEVERMIND! I have no time for immoral women! Have you seen them?!"
My eyebrow twitched. "No. And thanks for your complaint on my clothes, I'll be sure to wear none next time," I grunted, walking past him. Some of the men following him warned me to make sure I got to higher ground before nightfall, and I nodded in thanks.
I rounded a few corners and then stood next to a building, wondering where anyone from the crew would be right now. That's when I heard Nami's voice directly above me. "Settled down?! You're the one who let all those shipwrights see you!" I mentally thanked her for being so loud and then climbed my way up the building. I could hear Luffy asking Chopper where Sanji was right before I pulled myself onto the roof. "(Y/N)! I thought you were a shipwright! I almost had a heart attack!" Nami shouted.
I shook my head at her and said, "I could hear you from the streets. Stop being so loud." She was about to say something else, but Luffy cut her off by telling Chopper to inform us of Sanji's whereabouts. The reindeer told us everything about how they really did find Robin, but she said today would be the last day any of us would see her. While he spoke, I plopped myself down between Nami and Luffy. Robin has to be doing this for some kind of reason. Maybe she feels like she has to go because everyone almost died from Aokiji the other day. Guilt is probably eating at her. She seemed so sincere when she denied being a double crosser like she used to be. There has to be some kind of motive that we don't know about. I won't accept it otherwise.
"Robin really said that?!" Luffy yelled. He earned a nod from Chopper in response.
I heard the clinking of sword sheaths, and then Zoro said, "We should have expected this." He threw his sword down between us, splitting the four of us in half. "We let her aboard our ship when she was originally an enemy. If she suddenly decided things were too dangerous and ran away, there's nothing we can do. I guess it's time to settle this. Is that woman our enemy.. or our nakama?" It stayed quiet for a minute. He then looked at the doctor, "'After today, you won't ever see me again' is what she said, right Chopper?" The reindeer nodded. "Then we can guess that this means something will probably happen by tonight."
~~~
After the talk on that roof, I decided that maybe Zoro wasn't actually dumb. Luffy also decided that we would be going to Galley-La in order to confront the woman in question. It was the only way to find answers because as of right now, we do not know who the masked man is, nor the reason why she is doing this. We'll find out though, for sure. Now, there was a different problem I was concerned with.
"C'mon, (y/n)! It'll be fine!" Luffy chirped.
My eyebrow twitched, "No matter how many times you say that, I won't be convinced. Why can't I just let Chopper take me? Like Nami?"
"Cuz I said I'm taking you," he said like it was obvious. "Now get on my back! We need to go already!"
I hesitated, but climbed onto his back after Nami gave me a look. Wrapping my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist, I nodded to him with my head beside his. He nodded back at me and then proceeded to grab Zoro, stretching across buildings with both of us relying on him to not drop us or slam us into a building. Thankfully, we got to the building without any problems, and we all waited silently in a tree just outside of the Galley-Law mansion thing.
Chopper reverted into his small form and pulled out some binoculars, looking over to the building. "That's a lot of guards.." he mumbled.
"And it's a bit far," Luffy added.
"You could stretch yourself over there if there was a commotion," Nami piped in.
"Yea, if we cause the commotion ourselves, they'll be able to take advantage of it," Zoro said.
"I could have been the commotion since no one knows I'm a Straw Hat, but I don't think they'll overlook it since it'd be pretty suspicious," I mumbled.
We stayed in the tree for a while more with Chopper keeping a look out with the binoculars. We could all see when an explosion went off, though, successfully making all of the shipwright run around like ants. Chopper said that some masked people were causing most of the commotion after the explosion went off.
"What should we do? Should we enter soon?" Zoro hummed.
I shrugged and looked beside me. My eyes widened and I looked back at the others. "The better question is: where's Luffy?" There was just empty space at the branch he was sitting at just a few seconds ago.
"THINK BEFORE YOU ACT, IDIOT CAPTAIN!" Nami and Zoro shrieked at the same time.
"It's too late.." Chopper sighed next to me.
I sighed along with him, "At least he waited for the commotion we mentioned before. He probably left right after the explosion." The reindeer nodded, and we all started running towards the building since we were still pretty far away. It gave us a minute to talk about the strategy, and we came to the conclusion that Luffy is probably causing mayhem in there, so we could easily go through the front gate. WRONG. When we jumped the gate, a whole bunch of people were still at the front. We tried to run but ultimately, me and Zoro just decided to charge through them. I have no idea where he went, but I got access into the building. After walking around a bit, I eventually finally found someone who wasn't almost dead.
"A dog?" I thought aloud. The person with the dog masked turned and looked at.. probably me. Can't really see their eyes so.. Anyway. "Who're you? You with the guys who took Robin?" I asked, activating my devil fruit. I have such a bad feeling about him.
"Yes, what about it?" he questioned, turning his whole body to face me. Before I could do anything, someone behind me pinned me to the floor and a bunch of metal hooks were used to trap me onto the floor. I tried to pull on them but nothing was working since the places that the hooks were placed gave me no room to put any force into my movements. "What? I was going to take care of her." dog man grumbled.
"We have no time," a man in a bull mask replied, standing over me. There was another person with a skull mask on, and when I looked at him, he seemed to take a step back as if he knew who I was.
"HEY! LET ME UP, YOU FURRIES!" I shouted, trying to wiggle out of my trap. I could hear the dog man start laughing at that, but his voice got farther away down the hall. "Dammit.." For the next minute, I tried to get up, but to no avail. "Why does this always happen to me.."
"IS THAT (Y/N)?!" I could hear Nami ask.
"YES! IT'S ME! LET ME UP!" I screamed out, not being able to look down. Footsteps came closer to me and finally, I was looking straight up at Zoro who had a sword in his hand. Sweat dripped down my face and I released an awkward laugh. "H-hey, there's other ways to get me up.. let's thing about this for a second-"
"No."
I squeezed my eyes shut as I heard him slash through the bars holding me down. I tested the movement of my arms when he stopped slashing, and sat up. "Oh, I'm alive," I hummed.
"Yea, now get up, we've got places to be!" Nami ordered. I sat up and dusted myself off. I leaded them to where I heard the voices disappear, since they were probably all going to the same place and that place probably included Robin. Zoro cut down the door that we suspected everyone was in considering the talking and the unconscious people around. We busted into the room the same time that Luffy busted in with that same guy who called me out for wearing some shorts.
Iceberg looked up from his position on the ground and mumbled out the names of my captain and Paulie, which I think is denim jacket man. He wasn't looking too good right now, like he could pass out at any second. Paulie also wasn't looking good either with blood on his clothes and his face, but he looked around at all the people, finally saying, "Iceberg.. what the hell.. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!" Robin was in the room with all of the people, and I could recognize one of them as square Usopp. "What the hell is going on?" he repeated, eyes scanning over everyone again. "It looks as if.. they're the ones.. who tried to kill you! Why're you guys dressed like that?! OI! Kalifa! Blueno! Kaku! Lucci! Kai! STOP JOKING YOU BASTARDS!"
"What is happening.." I mumbled, looking between everyone. Zoro shrugged in front of me.
"Ah, that's right!" Luffy piped up, "Those were the carpenters who were with you guys, right?"
"Now that you mention it.. I recognize the square nose," Zoro murmured.
"Don't tell me the assassins were on the inside.." Nami thought aloud.
"It sure does look like it," I hummed beside her.
That's when a guy in an all black suit- whoa he's kind of hot. Anyway, guy in all black with a top hat spoke, "As a matter of fact, Paulie, we're spies for the government. Well, we'll be forgiven if we apologize, right? After all, we're a family that built ships together, day after day. If you can't believe it, would you like me to step on Iceberg's face?" Ok, maybe I take it back. Not hot.
"Cut the crap. You've done more than enough. The voice from the bull's mask fitted yours. You piece of shit.. YOU CAN TALK NORMALLY! Don't mock me!" the blond with the goggles shouted, running at the man with a top hat.
"Stop it, Paulie.." Iceberg forced out from the floor. It was too late because Paulie already launched a rope from his sleeve that had knives sticking from it. Top hat dodged easily and then stabbed the blond through the chest with a finger. How is that even possible? He even grabbed Luffy's foot when he tried to kick him, and then took on a barrage of punches from the captain head on. He was completely fine. He tried to finger-stab Luffy in the neck, but ultimately just pushed the rubber man toward us due to the nature of his devil fruit.
Luffy grabbed Paulie, who was laying on the ground, with a stretched arm and then brought him back to us. He told them that he would be beating them up because of a promise with Paulie, but also because of his own goal. "Oi Robin! If you want to leave us, tell us the reason!" the red vested male shouted to her.
"You're really unreasonable. I said my farewell to the Cook and the Doctor, didn't they tell you?" she replied.
"I did!" Chopper cried out, "But I don't accept it, either! Why, Robin?!"
"To make my wish come true. A wish that can't come true while I'm with you," she stated. We stared at her, speechless, so she continued, "That's why I'll do whatever it takes to obtain that wish!"
"So that's why you thoughtlessly framed your nakama as assassins. What's your wish?" Zoro grunted.
"But.. if the government could fufill it this whole time.. why did you run for 20 years?!" I asked, clenching my fists. Nothing is making sense. She ignored me and everything went downhill when she used her devil fruit to bust up Iceberg. He just seems unconscious for now, or so I hope. Top hat stood between Robin and us shortly after that, and informed us that the mansion would catch fire in two minutes. Luffy said that he didn't accept Robin's resignation when Zoro asked, and he sprung to action when the woman stated that she would be leaving first.
He got into a fight with the guy who was at the bar earlier, Blueno. He withstood Luffy's gatling move as well with apparently an iron body. When our captain was flung back by a kick from both square Usopp and the lady with the glasses, Zoro grabbed my head and forced me to move down with him while telling everyone else to dodge. Their kick cut through the wall with slicing wind, as worded by the lady. Something about the power of Rankyaku.
Zoro and I ran deployed right after that, trying to get to Robin but being stopped. I didn't check who stopped him because I was stopped by some guy with long brown hair tied in a pony tail. I'd say he was hot if he wasn't trying to stop me from getting Robin. "Look, if you could just move, it'd be great for both of us," I said plainly, activating my devil fruit.
"Oh, feisty," a voice that sounded familiar came out. Ah. Dog mask. "You seem a bit too familiar, though," he hummed as he dodged my blade shifted arm.
"I don't have time for you games, dog mask," I grumbled, attempting to kick him in the stomach. He used the body hardening thing like the others but gave a bit of an 'oomph' when I made contact with his stomach. "Blueno said it was like having a plate of iron around your body? Well that's too bad, looks like my magical fruit alloy is still better.
"ROBIN!" I heard Luffy shout. My head snapped to the side and I saw the woman at the window sill while Zoro got stabbed with a finger three times by long nose. Luffy was grabbed by the face, and before I could see any more, I had my head smashed into the floorboards. I could hear Chopper cry my name, but it certainly did not help me get out of this guy's grip. It's insane how strong he is.
I heard a crash soon afterward, and I'm sure it was Top Hat throwing Luffy. I created an axe with my hand and tried to hack at him, but he kicked my arm into the floor, almost cracking my devil fruit. That. fucking. Hurt.
Top hat was talking about power levels like this was Dragon Ball and how they were chosen by the government, and then I could feel his eyes boring into me. Pressure was lifted off of me, signaling that the dog mask guy got off me, but what happened next made me wish he would have just kept pinning me. I went to get up until I felt someone grab my hair and yank me out of the indent I made in the ground. I was face to face with top hat. Is that a pigeon with a necktie? That's kind of cute-
"You look familiar," his voice cut me out of my thoughts and made my eyes focus on his intimidating face rather than his cute pigeon. I tried to grab his hand to stop the pain of my hair wanting to rip out of my head. "Perhaps a poster.. a past order.. a past job.." he mumbled, eyes glaring into me.
"Why..." he seemed to perk up at my muttering, but I continued, squinting in pain. "Why does this always happen to me..."
