Chapter 9
16:19, 8 September 2023"We all go a little mad sometimes." Billy states as a smile creeps in his face. Stacey's eyes widen as Randy squints, confused. Billy points the gun at Randy and pulls the trigger, sending his body against the body and falling unconscious on the floor. "Anthony Perkins, Psycho."
Stacey locks eyes with Billy, still shocked at the current development. He smiles at her, licking his fingers that are filled with his own blood. "Corn syrup." He enlightens her. "Same stuff they used for pig's blood in Carrie."
The blonde girl is dumbfounded. She truly believed Billy was innocent. How stupid could she be? He was the one who killed Casey and Steve, and attacked her multiple times. Stacey steps back, trying to reach the kitchen. Billy moves towards her, trying to scare her. She looks at his face, staring at his evil and inhuman expression.
As she backs up, Stacey bumps into someone. She turns around and notices her boyfriend is holding her. His blue eyes taking notice of her entire body. "Stu... please, help me." She pleads and he hugs her.
Stu lets go of his girlfriend and looks at her, his expression apologetic. Stacey knew him. He did something that he regrets. Stu holds a cellular phone and starts talking into it. "Surprise, Stacey."
It was his voice... The voice of the killer that haunted Stacey's dreams. She looks at Stu and then at Billy. It is all clear now. They are both the killers. They tricked her into thinking they could be trusted. Why would Stu want to kill her? They were meant for each other. How could her sweet, beautiful and perfect boyfriend be a killer?
...
Stacey's mind starts racing. A million thoughts running through her head. Every promise, every kiss, every 'I love you' was a lie. Stu always wanted her dead. Is that why he broke up with Tatum? So that he could get close enough to Stacey to torture her and then kill her?
She bolts into the living room knowing there's no escape. "Where ya going?" Billy asks with an evil grin on his face. "It's not over yet. We've got one more surprise." He turns to Stu. "I believe it's your turn."
Stu's eyes land on Stacey, his face full of shame. "Oh yeah." He moves to the kitchen.
"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost." Billy chuckles, still waving the gun in his hand.
Stacey hears a noise coming from the kitchen. It looks like someone is struggling. Stu shows up, dragging someone from the hall and into the living room. "Mr. Prescott?" Neil's eyes widen and he tries to get loose. "You kidnapped Sidney's dad?" She was shaking, still hoping this is all a nightmare.
Billy steps closer to Stacey and turns to Stu. The taller boy puts the cellular phone in Mr. Prescott's shirt pocket. "You won't be needing that anymore." Billy smirks at Stu who just shakes his head.
"Why are you doing this?" Stacey asks, her eyes red from crying.
"It's all part of the game." Billy states. "It's called Guess how I'm going to die." He laughs maniacally.
Stu glares at Billy. "Dude, you promised she would be safe."
Billy places himself behind Stacey, getting her blonde hair to one side so he could lick her neck. "And she will, Stu. I just wanna play a little game."
"Fuck you." Stacey growls at Billy.
"We already play that game, remember?" Billy smirks. "I'll ask you a question and if you get it wrong, you die."
Stu steps closer to them. "That's not the plan." He shouted. "Stacey is off limits."
"You're crazy..." Stacey mumbles. "Both of you."
"The official term is psychotic." Billy corrects her.
"You'll never get away with this." Stacey's words are like venom.
Billy scratches his head, pretending to think. "Tell that to Cotton Weary. You wouldn't believe how easy it was to frame him." He laughed. "We just watched a few movies, took a few notes... It was fun, right Stu?"
Stu looks away. "You did it all by yourself, buddy."
"Too bad Sidney isn't here to see all this unravel." Billy sighs. "I expected her to be with you but that dumb bitch is slow." He smirks and traces his fingers down her cheek. "She's not like you, Stace. You're our final girl."
Stacey flinches at his touch and then turns around to face him. "Why did you kill Mrs. Prescott?" She asks with a determined look in her green eyes.
"Why? WHY?" Billy yells before turning to Stu. "Did you hear that, Stu? I think she wants a motive." His brown eyes turn darker and an expressionless face scares Stacey. "I don't really believe in motives, Stace. I mean, did Norman Bates have a motive?" Stu shakes his head, still looking at his girlfriend. "And did they ever explain why Hannibal Lecter liked to eat people?" He shrugs. "I don't think so." He scoffs. "You see, it's scarier when there's no motive, Stace."
"I don't understand..." Stacey tries to fight back the tears, unable to even look at the boy she loves.
"We did her a favor, Stace." Billy looks at the blonde with a disgusted expression. "The woman was a slut bag whore who flashed her shit all over town like she was Sharon Stone or something." He really hated her. "So we put her out of her misery." He chuckles. "I mean, let's face it, Maureen Prescott was no Sharon Stone."
Stu reaches for Stacey, separating her from Billy. "Come on, man. You had your fun, now let her go." His begs in a serious tone. "Your goal was to kill Sidney and you did it. Stacey doesn't need to know any of this shit."
Billy pulls Stacey from Stu. "But she wanted a motive." He smells her blonde hair. "Is that motive enough for you? Or how about this?" His grip on Stacey tightens, making her wince in pain. "Did you know your friend's slut mother was sleeping with my dad and she's the reason my mom moved out and deserted me?"
There's a sudden silence. Stu looks at his friend, his mouth agape and his blue eyes widen in shock. Clearly, this is brand new information. "What?" Stacey asks, also in shock.
"Think about it. On the off chance I get caught, a motive like that could divide a jury for years, don't you think?" Billy grins. "Big sympathy factor. Maternal abandonment causes serious deviant behavior." He laughs diabolically, making Stacey's eyes shut. "It certainly fucked Sidney up. It made her have sex with a psychopath."
Stacey bursts out laughing, causing both boys to stare at her with weird expressions on their faces. "So because Sidney was no longer a virgin, she had to die." She looks Billy dead in the eye. "Those are the rules, right?"
Billy puts the gun down on the table and moves Stacey to the kitchen with a butcher knife in hand. "Pretend this is all just a scary movie, Stace. How do you think it's going to end?"
Stu follows them and hisses at Billy. "Just let her go. You promised."
"But this is the best part, Stu." Billy pouts. "Why do you think we kept Neil here alive so long? Why were we saving Sidney for last?" He takes another whiff of her hair. "We killed Maureen one year ago exactly. It's the anniversary of her death."
Realization hits Stacey. They're going to frame Neil Prescott. It's the perfect plan. "I'm so sorry, angel. I never meant for this to happen." Stu cups Stacey's face. "I only went along cause he said you'd be safe. All I wanted was to protect you." She turns her face away from him, in disgust.
Billy turns to Stu with a knife in hand. "Ready?"
Stu takes the knife and looks at his friend. "Yeah..." Billy uses his butcher knife to stab Stu, causing him to stumble on his knees in pain. "Jesus..." Stacey screams as blood comes oozing out from his wound. "My turn." He states.
Billy looks at his goofy looking friend. "Don't forget, stay to the side and don't go too deep." Stu stabs Billy's belly and he bends down in pain. "Jesus fuck, that hurt."
"Stop it!" Stacey screams, not taking anymore of their insanity.
"God the ending figured out yet?" Billy asks while touching his wound. "Time's running out."
Stu reaches for Stacey, grabbing her waist. "Come on, Stace. You know the plan." He looks into her green eyes. "Neil Prescott is the chief suspect. We cloned his cellular. The evidence is there."
Billy takes the knife and slashes Stu's arm. "What if he snapped? Maureen's anniversary set him off and he went on a murder spree, killing everyone..."
"Except for you and Stu..." Stacey realizes. "You two were left for dead."
"And then he killed Sidney and shot himself in the head." Billy continues. "It's a perfect ending."
Stacey stares in horror at the two boys. "What about me?"
"Nothing's gonna happen to you, angel." Stu looks at her. "I promise."
"That is up to you, Stace." Billy claims. "Everyone dies but us. We get to carry on and plan the sequel. Let's face it, these days you gotta have a sequel." Billy laughs. "And you get to live too, Stace. Just stay with us."
Stacey feels shivers down her spine and her eyes darken in fear and disbelief. "You sick fucks. You've seen one too many movies."
Billy's eyes lock with hers, his expression unreadable but scary. "Oh Stace, don't blame the movies... Movies don't create psychos. Movies just make psychos more creative."
"It's a scream, baby." Stu chuckles, stumbling down a bit. "That's it, Billy. I can't take any more. I'm feeling a little woozy."
Stacey runs to Stu and checks his stab sounds. "He needs help, Billy." She looks at the crazy boy. "Stu is going to bleed to death."
"Oh angel, you still worry about me." Stu drapes his arm around her shoulders. "I'm so sorry. Billy promised he wouldn't touch you if I helped him."
"Did you kill Casey?" Stacey asks.
"No, only Steve." Stu states. "I didn't know you were going to be there. Billy thought it would be fun to mess with you after he saw you." He starts to close his blue eyes. "You weren't supposed to get hurt but he said that if he only targeted Sidney, everyone would suspect him. You were collateral damage."
Billy grabs Stu and helps him up. "Get the gun while I untie Pops." He demands.
"Where'd you put it?" Stu asks asย he searches the foyer.
"It's on the table."
"No, it's not." Stu says as Billy walks to the foyer and searches for the gun.
"Where the fuck is it?" Billy screams in frustration.
"Right here, asshole." A voice is heard.
Billy and Stu look up and see Gale Weathers holding the gun. She's all covered in blood and her hair is a mess. "I thought she was dead." Billy says.
"She looked dead." Stu replies. "Still does."
Gale holds the gun steadily, in complete control. "I've got an ending for you. The reporter left for dead in the news van stumbles upon you two dipshits, finds the gun, fumbles your plan and saves the day."
Stacey steps forward. "I like that plan." She turns to Stu. "But Stu is innocent. Billy is the true mastermind."
Billy lunges at Gale and looks at his partner. "She can't get both of us."
"Listen to me." Stu turns to Stacey, grabbing her shoulders. "You gotta leave and don't look back. Odds are... I won't get out alive but there's still hope for you." He kisses her forehead and goes to Billy.
Stacey stands for a while, looking at the boy she loved so deeply. He really was trying to protect her. She decides to take Stu's advice and leaves... from the foyer, that is.
...
Billy lunges at Gale and she pulls the trigger but nothing happens... the safety is on. Billy slams Gale's face at the door and she falls down, unconscious. He steps out of the front door to retrieve the gun and turns to where Stacey was, only to realize she's gone. "Where did she go?" Billy asks in anger.
Stu looks around, a small smile appearing on his face. He's still bleeding profusely. "I don't know Billy but I'm hurtin'." He complains.
"Where the fuck did she go?" Billy knocks down the contents of the table, enraged by Stacey's disappearance. Suddenly, the phone rings, surprising both Billy and Stu. The brown eyed boy picks it up. "Hello?"
"Are you alone in the house?" A voice that is too familiar asks.
Billy looks at Mr. Prescott and notices the device is gone."You bitch! Where the fuck are you?" He shouts.
"Not so fast." The voice continues. "We're gonna play a little game. It's called GUESS WHO JUST CALLED THE POLICE AND REPORTED YOUR SORRY MOTHERFUCKING ASS."
Billy looks around the living room. "Find her." Billy demands but Stu sits down, too weak to stand up. "FIND HER YOUR DIPSHIT!" He screams enraged at his partner.
"I can't... You cut too deep, Billy." Stu complains.
Billy throws the phone at Stu and hits him in the head, earning a glare from his partner. While Billy goes to the kitchen, Stu takes the phone. "So Stu, what's your motive?" Stacey asks without the device. "Billy's got one. The police are on their way. What are you going to tell them?"
"Peer pressure... I'm far too sensitive." Stu replies, glad that Stacey is well.
Billy gets back to the living room, fuming in anger. He takes the phone from Stu. "I'm gonna rip you up, bitch." He screams.
"Gotta find me first, you pansy-assed mama's boy." Stacey disconnects the call.
Billy rummages through the room, knocking down the furniture in a fit of rage. He notices the closet door and smiles, thinking he's got her. He opens the door and a ghost masked figure appears and stabs him with an umbrella and he falls down. Ghostface stands above him and takes off the mask, revealing Stacey. "Surprise, fuckrag." She throws the mask at Billy and glares at him.
