Chapter 10

18:59, 8 September 2023

Randy slowly sits up. His body drenched in blood. He looks at Stacey in pain. "You know what I hate most about horror movies?" Stacey looks at him and smiles. "The final scene... it just goes on and on... and it gets so stupid..."

Stacey helps Randy stand up and hugs him. "I'm so sorry, Rand." He hugs her back and smiles. Suddenly, something grabs Stacey's foot. It's Billy. "Go away, Randy. Save yourself." She screams.

The blonde fights Billy viciously, attacking him with every bit of strength she has left. Meanwhile, Randy punches Stu and the boy is knocked out. Stacey digs into Billy's chest wound and he screams bloody murder. With her other hand, she takes the gun to his face but he hits with his head and she falls down. Billy grabs the butcher knife and points it at Stacey. "You know, I really liked you, Stace." He smirks. "Remember that night you lost your virginity to me? You were mad at Stu for cheating on you with Casey and you gave yourself to me." He leans closer to her. "You were so pure..." His knife traces her cleavage. "I fell in love with you that night but you only had eyes for Stu."

A shot is heard and Stacey looks up to see Gale who just shot Billy in the shoulder. Gale walks up to Stacey and helps her up. Both women stand above Billy, staring at him. Randy joins them. "Stace, you found me out... I'm a virgin. And pretty happy about it right now." He states and Stacey laughs, leaning her head on his shoulder.

"A little help here." They all turn their heads to see Sidney crawling through the front door.

Stacey runs to her friend and helps her stand up. "God, Sidney. I thought you were dead." She claims. "It was Billy. He killed your mom and framed Cotton."

"And Stu helped him." Randy completes her thoughts.

"No. Stu is innocent." Stacey glares at Randy. "Billy threatened my life and Stu joined him to protect me but he didn't kill anyone." The blonde defends her boyfriend.

Sidney nudges Billy's body. "Careful." Randy warns her. "This is the moment when you think the killer's dead, but then he springs back to life for one last scare."

The brunette grabs the gun from Gale. "Not this time." She aims the gun at Billy. "This is for my mom, asshole." She states before shooting him in the chest. Sidney, Stacey, Randy and Gale all stares at their bodies, believing that Stu bled out, when they see a figure lunging at them and they all scream. "Daddy?" Sidney notices her dad bound and gagged.

"I totally forgot about your dad." Stacey says with an apologetic smile.

Sidney rushes to her father and unties him while Gale searches the bookshelf and retrieves her hidden camera. "I wanna close-up."

Randy stands between Sidney and Stacey. "This is probably and inappropriate moment, but you think you'd wanna go out with me sometime... like on a date?" Both girls stare at him, shocked by his audacity. "Maybe catch a movie?"

Stacey looks at Sidney and both smile. "Only if it's a nice Meg Ryan movie." Sidney says.

"Or a Julia Roberts one." Stacey completes.

"You got it." Randy smiles.

Sidney grabs her dad while Stacey holds Randy's hand and they all go outside. The sound of sirens can be heard as ambulances and police cars park in front of Stu Macher's house in Turner Lane. Gale notices Dewey is being transported into an ambulance, alive. She smiles and picks up a mic to report her story. The reporter who survived the Woodsboro murders.

Stacey sits on an ambulance while being checked by a paramedic. Sheriff Burke appears and looks at the blonde teen with a worried expression. "Miss Hastings, are you sure Billy Loomis and Stu Macher are dead?"

"Of course." Stacey frowns. "Stu was a bloody mess and Billy was shot more than once. There's no way they survived."

"Their bodies are nowhere to be found." Burke says with a worried tone.

Stacey smiles while contemplating the sky. The sun was rising. She was happy that Stu survived and was able to escape. Deep down she knew he was really trying to save her life. But Billy was the wild card. She was scared he would come back to finish what he started.

...

It's been a couple of weeks since the murders and Stacey was finally having a sense of normalcy. She felt terrible at Tatum's funeral as she watched the Rileys sobbing. She knew Stu was a part of the whole tragedy and she could never forgive him for the pain he caused to everyone involved, but she couldn't help feeling relieved that he escaped.

"Good morning, mom." Stacey comes down the stairs and kisses her mother on the cheek.

"Good morning, honey." Ellen Hastings smiles. She returned to Woodsboro as soon as she heard the news that her daughter had been attacked during a party.

Stacey makes her way to the kitchen and takes a bite of an apple. "Do you mind if I crash at Sidney's tonight?" She asks softly.

Ellen follows her daughter to the kitchen and folds her arms. "Is Neil going to be there?"

"Of course, mom." Stacey rolls her eyes. Her mother was driving her crazy! She was always a very permissive mother, but after Stacey's near death experience, Ellen was always asking questions and called her daughter every hour. She even gave Stacey a curfew.

"In that case, it's okay." Ellen sighs. "But I'll be calling Neil until he tells me you're asleep."

"Fine." Stacey caves in. She puts a few snacks in her backpack and grabs her car keys. Her dad had finally sent her the car she picked out. "See ya tomorrow."

Ellen grabs Stacey's arm. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to pick Randy up so we can go to the lake house." Stacey states. "Remember? We're using it as our movie theater."

"Promise me you'll be safe." Elle urges her daughter.

"I promise." Stacey locks her pinky finger with Ellen's and they both smile.

Stacey heads out the house and gets into her car. Stu would have loved her convertible. She could imagine his huge grin as he saw the car and begged to drive it. Stacey felt bad for lying to everyone about what was really going on, but she couldn't let them know the truth. She needed them to believe the nightmare was over.

...

The Fog was on TV and two boys sit on the couch watching it. "When do we get to see Jamie Lee's breasts?" One of them asks.

"Not until 83 when she goes legit." The other answers. "Before that she was always the virgin. That's why she always survives."

A noise is heard outside and the boys turn off the sound of the TV. "Are you expecting someone?" The brown haired boy asks while the taller boy shakes his head. They both grab a baseball bat each and slowly move towards the door. The knob rotates and they look at each other, nodding to confirm their plan to attack the intruder. A blonde girl opens the door and the boys sigh. "Fuck, Stacey!" The brown haired boy cursed.

Stacey locks the door to the lake house and drops the backpack on the table. "Were you two thinking about bludgeoning me to death?" She asks while taking out the snacks she brought.

"We thought it was an intruder." The taller boy says while grabbing a candy bar.

"Maybe you should stop watching horror movies." Stacey suggests and the boys smirk at each other.

It is revealed the two boys are Billy and Stu. They escaped that night after they heard the sirens. They knew everyone would be busy taking care of the survivors and would leave their bodies for last. To all effects, they were dead. "Did you stop?" Billy asks.

"What?" Stacey looks at him confused.

"Watching horror movies..."

Stacey sighs and turns to the boys. "How are you two doing?"

"The stitches are holding up, angel." Stu answers, a stupid smile on his face that goes from one ear to the other. "But I miss you."

Billy smacks his friend in the head. "Stop being such a pussy!" He turns to Stacey. "He keeps bitching about how he wants to see you everyday."

"You two need to leave soon." Stacey announces. "My dad is coming to Woodsboro to spend the summer and he's gonna stay at the lake house."

"Where are we going?" Stu asks with a pout.

"I don't know." Stacey's green eyes stare at the boy. "The only reason I'm even here is because you protected me." She points at Stu.

"So this is the end, huh?" Stu's blue eyes shine of sadness. "I thought we would be together..."

"You killed people. What I'm doing right now is a felony." Stacey moves to the door. "You still have a few months before my dad comes."

Stu grabs Stacey's arm and looks in her eyes. "Hey, Stace... who are you going to prom with?"

"Randy." Stacey answers. His eyes burn in anger. "We're going as friends." She calms him down.

"Told ya she was going with that fucking rat." Billy points out.

"Could you shut up for once?" Stu shout at his friend and Stacey leaves the lake house, aware this is her last visit. "I lost her, man."

Billy scoffs and sits down. "You lost her the moment you decided to help me." He grabs a chip. "Did you really think she was going to forgive you?"

Stu sits next to his friend and sighs in defeat. "I was hoping she would."

Stacey sits in her car, her head buried in her hands as she cries. She hoped she had the strength to forgive Stu, but he fucked up. He chose to be deceitful instead of coming to her. If she had known, she would have had his back and frame Billy for everything. It was his idea to go on a killing spree. Stu just happened to be an unwilling accomplice. But it was all over. Stacey could finally breathe in peace. They were no longer a threat to her or her friends. She could finally be a normal teenager instead of a fucking final girl.
