13. Years

~Lucy's P.O.V.~ -1 year later-

"Guys!" I scream as I enter the house "oh my god guys you will not believe what happened today" I say to George, Holly.

George looks over at me from the tv and Holly comes out of a room, "is everything okay?" She asks and I nod excitedly. "I got a job!!" I scream happily.

"What? Congratulations!" Holly gives me a big hug and George just gives me a thumbs up. "Great! Now you have something to distract yourself with. But you know, it didnt need to be a job. With all the money we got from the house and.... You know who, we're basicly rich" she sighs and goes to the kitchen.

"You can say his name" I follow her, "I know that Lockwood gaves us all this money after he died but still I want to depend on myself. I want something to do, that takes all day" I frown.

"Your kids take all day" she smiles and I nod, "I know but I want to act normal be normal, I guess" I sigh and sit down on a stool. "You are normal, and just a piece of advise, Evie is really missing her mom" she puts her hand on my shoulder and I lean forward onto the counter.

"I know, and I promise that I wont turn my life into pure work" I smile and she nods. "You better, otherwise I will go to your job myself and not ask but tell them to fire you" she jokes or at least I hope.

"Im going to the park want to come?" I say as I go into the living room to get the kids. "No its alright, George and I can stay we'll take care of Jake" she tells me and I nod.

"Come on kids we're going to the park" I yell to upstairs, seconds later the kids come raising down to me.

We finally get to the park, the kids open the car door and run after eachother laughing. I sit in the car for a little while and finally get off.

"Ohh" I trip and fall onto someone, "oh my gosh I am so sorry" I look at the person I fell on and sigh, "we have got to stop meeting like this" I tell him and he gives me a confused look.

"Oh yeah, you were.......drunk" I say and get off him. "When was this?" Kipps asks with a smile, "um you wont remember, it was like a year ago and like I said, you were drunk" I smile and we both get up.

"Uh er I got to go, the kids are probably waiting" I sigh and slowly walk away from him. "Yeah, sorry. Uh do you want to hang out later?" He asks, with a smile "uh I dont know" I look at him "yeah, okay, thats fine" he nods rapidly and looks at his feet.

"Uh actually uh Im not doing anything tomorrow night. Pick me up at 10:00?" I say, feeling bad, and he nods happily at me "yeah, give me your address and I'll be there" he smiles and I walk away. "I'll text you!" I say, hiding my smile.

"Uhh, the park was exhausting. These kids had me running here and there" I sigh, letting myself fall onto the couch.

"Yeah" Holly says "I can tell. You guys need a shower because.....oof. You dont know how much all of you stink" she laughs, waving a hand infront of her nose, jokingly.

"Yeah. Okay, ha ha ha so funny. I'll be down in a bit" I laugh and head up the stairs. After my long, relaxing, bath, I put some pajamas on and go downstairs.

"Ooh. You ordered pizza" I laugh, rubbing my tummy. "Yeah! Come on, sit, we're watching Inside Out, we just rented it" Holly smiles and pats the seat next to her.

"Okay, Im going to go to sleep now. So goodnight guys" I yawn, getting up, "you too kids you have school tomorrow" Holly adds and the kids groan. "Just until the movie finishes" I hear Lucas and Evie whine. Before I go into my room I go into Jake's nursery.

I look at his face, the only thing I see, is Lockwood. "I miss you" I whisper, I kiss Jake goodnight and slowly walk to my room.

"Aaahh" I yawn as I stretch my arms, I get up and go to the restroom I take a fast shower and go downstairs after getting dressed.

"Good morning" I say as I enter the kitchen, "good morning, ooooh you seem in an awful good mood" Holly smiles.

"Yeah" I laugh, "I'll be right back" I say, I go back upstairs into Jake's nursery. I find him completely awake, staring intensely at everything.

"Hey little guy" I smile at him and he smiles back, I take him out of the crib and carry him. "Hey" I coo and he giggles, he wraps his little hand around my finger and pulls it toward his mouth.

"No no no" I laugh, I walk back downstairs, with Jake in my arms and put him on his high chair. I grab a chair and sit beside him to feed him.

"Here I'll do it" Holly smiles at Jake and I stand up, giving her the tiny spoon. "How do you do it?" I ask Holly and she looks over at me, "how do I do what?" She asks.

"Jake. Lucas. Evie. You're such a great mom. You know how to be a mom" I look over at Jake, Lucas and Evie.

"You're a great mom too" she tilts her head slightly "you know Im not. You were the one to take care of Evie because I was always with Lockwood and now you're like Jake's second mother because Im always out" I say honestly.

"Well, I guess I just really enjoy taking care of kids" she smiles and goes to lala land. "Holly" I wave my hand infront of her eyes "if you like kids so much, then you should consider being a teacher" I smile and she shakes her head.

"Not for the money but because you want to and its your bliss" I smile happily, trying to persuade her.

"Actually, you know what! Im gonna go get a job at the school thats really close by" she bites her lip with a smile. "Yes!" I nod quickly and she stands up.

"Where are you going?" I ask as she passes by me toward the living room. "Im gonna get a job" she smiles and walks away, "come on, George! Luce, can you take care of the kids for today" she tells me and I quickly nod.

"Oh, wait!" I call after her as I hear the door slam, "dang it" I say and sigh as I sit back down.

After about 5 hours of watching tv, I stand up and smile at Jake, who is staring at me.

"Kids! You want to go to the fair?!" I scream throughout the house. I take Jake out of his chair and go to his room to change him. "Yes!" I hear Evie and Lucas yell as they run out of their room.

After all of us are dressed up, we get out of the house and start walking, "arent we taking the car?" Lucas asks. "No, don't you want to walk?" I smile as I hold onto one of Lucas' hand and he holds Evie's hand. Jake is around my hip.

"Actually, lets go back and get the srtoller, this baby is heavy" I say and both kids groan.

After we get the stroller, we finally go on our walk to the fair and it takes us 10 minutes since its not very far.

"40 tickets please" I say to the young lady at the stand and I hand her the money. She hands me the money and we go into the fair, "you want to eat first guys?" I ask the kids, "no because, then we'll through up" Lucas tells me and I nod.

"Okay but Im not getting on, so Im gonna go eat" I say and Lucas looks over at a ride. "Can we go get on that ride while you eat?" Lucas asks "yeah" I answer him and I walk them over to the ride.

"6 tickets per person" the guy says. I count 12 tickets and rip them off. I hand them to the guy and the kids go in.

I go back to where we were and buy a funnel cake. I take my funnel cake and and the stroller to a seat that's right infront of the ride. I take my phone out and dial Kipps' phone number.

"Hey" I say "uh hi, I was about to knock" he tells me and I almost laugh. "No one is at home right now, Holly left for an interview at the school and I brought the kids over to the fair" I say and stuff my mouth with funnel cake.

He doesnt answer so I speak "you can come if you want". "Yeah, sure, I'll be there in 5" he tells me and I nod, forgetting he cant see me, "okay, yeah" I say and I press the 'end call' button and turn my phone off.

"Hi" I say as I see him walking over to me. "Hi" he says and sits down next to me. "How you been?" He asks "good" I answer and he nods. "How have you been?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"Can we not do this?" He tells me "not do what?" I ask. "Let's start over" he smiles and I smile too. "Im Lucy" I tell him "Im Kipps" he laughs.

"So? What do you do for a-" he cuts me off by putting his lips on mine, he kisses me and I kiss him back. He pulls back and ends the kiss. "Im sorry I just- I cant stop thinking about you and I" he sighs and leans his arms onto his legs.

"It's okay" I say and he looks back up. "So, where are the kids?" He asks and I point to the ride.

After getting on a bunch of rides, buying more tickets and getting on more rides, we leave.

"I think that's the most fun I've had in a long time" Kipps laughs as we enter the house. "Im glad you offered to ride us home" I say. "Kids come on its bedtime" I rush the kids upstairs and carry Jake to his crib, where he lays, asleep.

~Holly's P.O.V.~

"That was the best date ever" I smile at George and he laughs, "I think that was our first date" he tells me and I frown. "Oh yeah, hey! You need to take me on more dates" I laugh and he nods, turning the car off.

"Whose car is that?" I ask, looking over at the car parked infront of our house "maybe Lucy invited a friend over" George says. "What friend?" I laugh and I open the door.

"Yeah, I sold my aprtment because I never used it" Lucy laughs. I walk completely in and stop when I see who she's talking to. "Maybe she went to the fair and met-" George gets cut off by what we see.

"Why is he here?" I ask, Lucy and Kipps turn to look at us, finally noticing us. "We were just hanging-" "stop" Lucy cuts Kipps off. "We were on a date" Lucy tells us seriously, mine and George's jaw basicly fall to the floor.

"Lucy you cant do this" I tell her and she's quick to stand up. "No, Holly, I can! You aren't my mother. You aren't my sister. I can do whatever I want! If I want to be with Kipps I'll be with Kipps! But it's not your problem! Its my problem! I loved Lockwood with all my heart, but I need to move on! We all do! I cant hold myself up to love Lockwood! He died! I cant love him forever!" Lucy yells and I nod after a while.

"You're right. We've just been looking out for you and now I know that we need to let you live your life. But I promise that from now on George and I will stay out of your love life" I look over to George and he nods.

We both walk upstairs, into our room and just lay on the bed. "She's right, George. We cant keep telling her she cant love anyone else but Lockwood" I say and he holds my hand. "He is dead and we need to move on" I tell him and he nods.

"I love you" he says and cuddles me in his arms "I love you too" I say and we fall asleep.

~Lucy's P.O.V.~ -9 years later-Lucas and Evie are 19 years oldJake is 10 years old

"Happy Birthday Jake!" Kipps yells and raises Jake up in the air. "How old have you turned?" He asks and Jake puts up 10 fingers. "Oooh, you are getting old" he laughs and Jake hugs him.

"I missed you. I though you wouldnt make it home" Jake says and Kipps pulls him back to look at his teary eyes. "I was out of town but now I'm back. You dont have to worry, I wont leave you" Kipps tells him, Jake nods and goes in for another hug.

"Enough hugs now, lets go cut the cake" I say and we all walk to the table. Ding Dong!I walk to the door and open it. "Hey, Holly, George, ah Lucas, you've grown so much" I smile and he laughs, bringing me in for a hug.

"If you want, you can go upstairs, Evie's in her room" I smile and he nods. He hurries upstairs and the rest of us go to the table.

~Evie's P.O.V.~

I hear someone open my door, I cover myself with a towel and go from my bathroom into my room. "Evie?" I hear Lucas' voice and smile instantly.

"Oh my god! Sorry. I'll let you change" he goes to open the door to leave but I stop him. "Its okay, you can stay. I'll just grab my clothes and change in the restroom" I tell him and he nods.

I take my clothes and hurry to the restroom. After changing into them I walk out and finally greet him properly. "Hey" I say and he smiles "hey" he stands up and hugs me. "I've missed you so much" I say into the crook of his neck.

"I've missed you too" he tells me and I pull away after a long hug. I sit on my bed and he sits beside me. "How have you been?" I ask "I've been great actually. I have a girlfriend now, lots of friends. Life is the best" he sighs and lays down.

"Thats good to hear" I say and he nods "how's yours been?" He asks me and I frown. "My imaginary boyfriend broke up with me, my friends barely come over, because of Kipps and Jake acts like Kipps is our dad" I sigh and lay beside him.

He turns his head to look at me and I just stare at the ceiling. "Sorry to hear that, but hey, do you want to come downstairs to eat some cake?" He smiles and I shake my head. "I would rather die than go downstairs where Kipps is" I say and Lucas turns on his side.

"Why do you hate him so much?" He asks and I shrug "come on, you can tell me anything" he reminds me and I finally look at him, "he took my dad's place. Kipps isn't my dad or Jake's. Anthony Lockwood is" I cry.

Lucas scoots really close to me, to where there is no space between us and hugs me. "Its gonna be fine" he assures me and I shake my head again. "No it isn't. You don't know what it's like to live with Kipps" I say.

"No I don't but I know what it's like to live with you. And you're a great person, with a beautiful personality, you shouldn't let Kipps stop you from being that amazing girl I used to love. Well I still love you, but in a different way" he smiles at me and I finally hug him back, really hard.

"I missed you so much" I say, He turns us over and sits us up, me, ending up on his lap. "Sorry" I say and go to get off him but he stops me.

He stares into my eyes and I stare into his. His face leans in and he kisses me but I quickly pull away. "Im sorry- I shouldn't of" he says, I get off him and he rushes out of my room.

After a while I build up the courage to walk downstairs. I see aunt Holly and uncle George and rush over to them. "Oh my god. I have missed you both so much" I say, bringing them both in for a big group hug.

"Oh honey, you've grown so much" aunt Holly tells me and cups my face in her hands, "I couldnt even recognize you" uncle George tells me and I laugh.

"Can we cut the cake now!" Jake yells, annoyed and we all laugh, "no, first we have to blow the candles" my mom smiles. Everyone gets around the table and starts singing, out of tune.

He blows out the candles "did you make a wish?" I ask and he nods "but I cant tell you" he smiles. He waves his hand for Kipps to come closer and whispers something in his ear, Kipps laughs and I roll my eyes.

"Can I cut the cake now?" Jake asks, inpatient my mom lets him hold the knife, her hand on his. After he cuts the cake and everyone gets a piece. Everyone sits in the living room, Lucas staright infront of me.

I look up at him and find him staring at me, I quickly look away. I stand up and hurry to my room. I lay on my bed and just stare at the ceiling. I hear my door shut.

I lift my head up to see who it is and am surprised to see Lucas. He hurries over to me, he quickly lays down beside me and kisses me. This time instead of pushing him away, I kiss him back.

After an hour of making out, aunt Holly calls from downstairs. "Im sorry" he apologizes and rushes out the door again.
