Chapter 10

'These are the two things you want to do most when you love someone: to save them (sometimes from themselves) and to be near them always.'

Picking up Beam to and from school and having dinner somewhere has become their routine now.

Forth was glad that Beam doesn't protest now everytime he sees him waiting outside his apartment building or outside their faculty to pick him up. Beam just looks at him with an annoyed face but doesn't argue like he used to.

He was getting used to Forth's everyday presence even though Forth was only doing it for a couple of days. Well it be useless to evade him because the guy was everywhere these days.

This Med student was still as guarded as ever, but at times Forth somehow manages to make him flustered when they are together but then Beam would regain himself and turn sassy again and Forth would laugh about it making Beam angry and then he would say things that makes him blush again and everything would repeat. Forth knew it was the only cycle of emotions that Beam allowed him to see. He knows that there is so much more to this insane doctor he fell in love with.

"So what's the deal with you and Doc Beam?" Lam asked as he and Forth headed to their next class.

Forths answer was a shrug and a silly smile.

"You lovesick fool." Lam said smiling as he attempts to smack Forth on the head to which he dodged.

A goofy smile is plastered in his face every time he thought of Beam and how the guy was slowly opening up to him now. Gaining Beam's trust is not an easy task.

Lam would only shake his head and roll his eyes when he would catch his friend being weird.

Forth would also visit Beam on his room on school nights and Beam would have this annoyed face when he opens the door and tell him that he was 'disturbing' but still lets Forth inside. They would watch something on TV or on Beam's laptop or read their lecture notes.

Sometimes Beam would doze off in his bed in an uncomfortable position and Forth would tuck him properly and steal goodnight kisses on his forehead before he leaves.

At these times, Beam forgets to take his meds but would wake up fine in the morning.

He still has a to do a lot to make Beam trust him and open up to him about his past. He was taking things slowly because if he threw caution to the wind and asks off carelessly Beam might snap and shut him out and he'd be back to square one and he wouldn't want that. Dealing with depressed people takes so much patience.

Forth was amazed by how far he had come to make efforts — though the efforts are still lacking — to take care of Beam, for he never expected he'd care for someone this much. Let alone this particular guy who was also a walking entity of sass.

They were not an official couple yet. He is giving Beam his time though Beam never said anything about his consent but even if Beam said no he would still pursue him until he says yes. That's how stubborn he is.

The alarm went off and he opened his eyes after the first three rings. He reached his arm to his night stand and took the alarm to key in the password.

It won't shut up. No matter how many times he pressed 'stop' the alarm won't shut up.

He groggily sat up and tried to see clearly before he keyed in the password again and pressed 'stop'.

It's no use.

He covered the alarm with his mattress so the sound would be muffled.

With eyes half open, he plopped down on the bed again and searched for his phone on the bed like he was making a snow angel.

He dialled Kit who picked up on the second ring.

"Ai'Kittyyyy!!" He was still laying on the bed half asleep and whining.

"What."

"Alarm is brokeen it won't shut uuupp!" He whined.

"If its broken then it wouldn't be making a sound can it?  It's still useful because it woke you up."

"Make it shut uppp!" He won't stop whining and even started rolling his body left and right on the bed.

"Quit your whining! Maybe some asshole  changed the password!"

"But whoooo? You guys are the only people who knows."

"Even if i did, how would i? i wasn't there with you last night."

Then it dawned on him. The person who was with him last night. He abruptly opened his half asleep eyes and groaned in annoyance.

"Shit Ai'Forth!!" He shouted which he was sure that Kit heard him from the other side of the wall.

He was also sure that he would get smacked on the head for shouting while the phone was near his mouth.

"Hey! Just because i can't help you doesn't mean you have to make me deaf!" Kit also shouted back. But he didn't care right now because he was annoyed with Forth.

That's why he was grinning from ear to ear last night!

He ended the call to Kit and planned to dial Forth but before he could, a LINE message from Forth appeared on his home screen.

"Goodmorning! How was your sleep? Did you dream of me? 5555"

Ugh!! This guy is too full of himself!

*new message*

"Be there in an hour. Btw, your alarm's new password is Forthlikesdocbeam"

What the heck?!

He huffed and rolled his eyes while he was typing the password. Was it annoyance? Was he flustered? He didn't have a clue either.

This guy is seriously gonna get smacked in the face when i see him. 😑

Beam received Forth's message saying he was already downstairs just before Beam got out of his room. He took his time walking from the third floor to the ground floor contemplating whether he would really smack Forth on the face or just let it go and get back at him later.

Just as he reached the lobby, he stopped in his tracks as he saw Forth talking to a girl who was quite familiar to him.

It was Lin. The Star of Engineering faculty. They lived on the same floor.

They were at a distance where he can't hear them properly but he can see that Lin was obviously flirting with Forth because of the way she was twisting her body.

Look at this idiot flirting with someone who lives in the same building as — wait! I'm not supposed to care! So i won't.

He crossed his arms to his chest and glared at them and just stood there and waited until they would stop talking and notice him.

The sun haven't even touched my face yet but I'm already having an eyesore!

He huffed. I should've brought my pair of sunglasses!

I bet he just comes here to visit her and uses me as an excuse. Aishh!! These two makes my blood boil!

It seems like Forth felt his stare as he turned sideways and saw Beam with his death glare.

He bid goodbye to Lin who in turn waied to him and he quickly walked to Beam as if nothing happened.

"Hey Beam, what took you so long?" He smiled.

Beam scowled. Look at him with that annoyingly stupid smile as if he didn't just  — oh wait!— right! I shouldn't care. Yeah! I don't care! Then rolled his eyes as if he forgot someone was in front of him.

Forth had this confused look in his face while watching Beam change his facial expression as he continued to internally argue with himself.

'Forthlikesdocbeam' my ass!! I really want to shoot you in the face right now.

"Beam?"

Seems like Beam regained himself and raised an eyebrow at Forth before talking."Don't talk to me. But hurry up. I'm hungry!"

He walked past Forth and headed to where the motorbike was parked. His car still has a couple of days to stay at the maintenance.

Forth didn't notice that Beam was extra grumpy today since he was always like that every time he would pick him up.

They got on his motorbike and headed to a nearby food stall to have breakfast.

"Are you okay Beam?" Forth asked when they were eating as he would catch Beam bore holes to his head whenever he's not looking.

"Of course."

"Are you mad at me?"

He rolled his eyes. Beam don't want to answer that because he don't know either.

"So are you and N'Lin dating?" He casually asked as before he filled his mouth with food.

Forth was surprised by the sudden question.

He watched as Forth's face turned from surprised to confused and then suddenly turned to a stupid grin.

"Aww. Don't be jealous 😃 she was just asking about something."

Beam scowled. "Me? As if!"

Forth watched as Beam's face turned scarlet and got himself ready to stand up and get away from him.

They were on the road heading to the uni. Forth is watching Beam's grim reflection on his mirror and he is a bit worried that Beam misunderstood his actions earlier.

Beam was also not holding on to him which is also a bit risky since they are on a bike.

"Beam, hold on to me. It's not safe." He half shouted so Beam would hear him properly as they are on the busy streets of Bangkok.

"No thanks! Im fine!" Beam also half shouted.

Forth sighed. Stubborn as always.

An idea popped on to his head.

He abruptly sped up which shocked Beam who gripped on to his waist and burried his face to Forth's broad back and the helmet Beam was wearing slammed to him and made him wince but it was mission accomplished! Now Beam won't let go of his waist. And he was holding on tighter than necessary.

He giggled at his idiotic plan that worked.

Perhaps Beam noticed his scheme because he pinched his tummy.

"Oww! Beam why?!" He faked innocence but Beam caught his grinning face from the side mirror.

"Jerk! I know what you're doing! Just so you know I'm only holding on to you because you don't drive safe enough for me to let go."

They arrived at the Med faculty. Beam got off the bike and handed Forth the helmet with a red face but he was still not in good mood as he walked away from Forth who didn't dare to talk to him at that moment. Forth knew he still needs to explain but he needed to wait for him to calm down — if he ever calmed down, that is.

A/N: This was not originally included in this chapter and was supposed to be an unhappy part but someone from the comments suggested that #ForthBeam should have one more light moment before i do something 😂 so i compromised and made you this 😃

Second part of their petty misunderstanding will be in the next chapter because it would be too long 😊

Will they make up? Will Beam be true to what he feels? Let's see what happens.
