"Let's go, one-on-one from up top!" Coach Finstock shouted, using his whistle to grab his team's attention. "Jackson, take a long stick today. Attaboy."

Lucy and Allison sat in the stands, watching as the boys practiced hard for their upcoming game.

"How was the party? Scott said he was taking you." Lucy asked, knowing she had stayed inside all night reading.

"It was okay. He left pretty early. I think he was sick." Allison replied, playing with her fingers.

"Oh. I thought I heard him come home early, but I had my headphones on while I was reading so sometimes I just think I hear things."

Allison nodded, smiling softly. "What kinds of things do you read?"

"Mostly romance, but sometimes I can get into mystery and fantasy."

Coach blew the whistle again, signaling to Scott to run forward. Lucy winced when her brother was knocked by the defense, none other than Jackson Whittemore.

"You sure you still want to be first line, McCall?" the captain insulted before he walked away, an arrogant smirk painted across his lips.

"I feel bad for him." Allison commented, watching as Coach shouted at Scott, who was just beginning to stand back up.

"Yeah. I'm sure he'll be fine. It's just his first time on first line, I'm sure it's just a little stressful."

"A little?"

Lucy sighed. "Okay, maybe a lot. But Scott is strong. He can handle it. I hope."

"Then do it again!" Coach ordered. "McCall's gonna do it again! Let's go!"

When Coach's whistle blew again, Scott shot forwards and flattened Jackson. Before Scott could go any further down the field, he collapsed on the ground next to Jackson.

"Scott!" Lucy and Allison jumped to their feet, ready to run down and check on the boy. Stiles made eye contact with them, holding his hand up to signal them to stay there. Lucy wrapped her arms around herself, furrowing her eyebrows as she wondered what was wrong. She and Allison stayed in the stands, watching as Stiles and Scott ran back into the building.

"How sick did you say he was?" Lucy asked her friend, never taking her eyes off where the boys had been.

"Sick enough that he didn't say anything when he left." The other girl replied.

Inside the building, Allison and Lucy walked down a set of stairs before they ran into Scott.

"Hey." Allison smiled.

"Hey," Scott said, stuffing his phone into his pocket and pulling his lips into a tight smile.

"Busy?"

"No, no, it's just, uh, my mom. Our mom." He gestured to Lucy. "She's nothing. I mean, it's nothing. Uh, I'm never busy for you." Scott stuttered. Lucy bit her lip, trying to hide her smile and hold back her laugh.

"I like the sound of that. I have to run to French class, but I wanted you to know that I'm coming to see you play tomorrow." Allison grinned, running a hand through her hair. "And we're all going out afterwards. You, me, Lydia, and Jackson."

Scott turned to Lucy, confused. "You're not going?"

"I don't have a boyfriend." Lucy smiled knowingly.

"But it's gonna be great." Allison offered. "Uh, save me a seat at lunch. I gotta go." She dashed around the corner, leaving Scott speechless.

"Is Mom coming to the game?" Lucy asked, hugging her books a little tighter to her chest.

"Uh, yeah. I think so. She said she took off work. But I don't know if I'm playing." Scott nodded awkwardly as he slipped his hands into his pockets.

His sister giggled. "Of course you're playing. Your first line."

Scott raised his eyebrows and let them fall again. "Yeah, you don't have to remind me. Stiles does enough of that."

"Speaking of him," Lucy began, "How is he? He's not jealous you're playing, and he isn't, right?"

Something caught Scott's attention from behind Lucy. Before she could turn around and see, her brother spoke up. "Yeah, I don't know. He's fine. For the most part. I'll see you later."

Lucy frowned, watching her brother rush around her and up the stairs. She saw Stiles grab his jacket, pulling him into another hallway. She would never admit it out loud, but she did find Stiles Stilinski cute. And funny. But he had eyes for Lydia, and Lucy had better things to do than chase a boy.

Melissa McCall and Lucy Evans jumped up and down screaming as Scott shot the winning goal. They clapped loudly, as did the entire crowd.

"He did it!" They screamed, wrapping their arms around each other tightly. As they let go of the hug, Lucy's eyes found Allison's and they both grinned widely.

"Come on, Mom." Lucy grabbed her mother's arm. "Let's go meet Allison."

"Okay." Melissa smiled, completely out of breath. "Wait, do I look okay? Should I be more dressed up to meet my son's girlfriend?"

Lucy titled her head to the side with a small smile. "You look great, Mom. Come on!"

Melissa let her adopted daughter pull her down the stairs and onto the field, where they found Allison searching for Scott.

"Hey!" Lucy grinned, pulling Allison into a hug. "Where is he?"

"He's over there." Allison had a tight smile adorning her face as she pointed to the other side of the field, where Scott was running.

"He's going into the locker rooms. You should follow him! He's probably just overwhelmed. That was such a stressful game!"

"Oh yeah, trust me I know. I was so scared we would lose." Allison laughed. "Hi."

"Oh! Hi!" Melissa smiled, sticking her hand out. "I'm Melissa."

"Allison." They both smiled brightly, shaking hands.

"Okay!" Lucy laughed. "Go! Go!"

"Okay, I'm going!" Allison laughed breathlessly as she took off after her boyfriend.

"They're cute. And you were not kidding, she's gorgeous!" Melissa playfully shoved Lucy. "Now we just need to find you a cute lacrosse player." She looked around, surveying the crowd on the field. "Oh, what about that one? Is he single?" She pointed to a tall player who was hugging his parents.

"Mom!" Lucy blushed, pulling her mother's hand down.

"What? I'm just messing with you." Her mother smiled. "But seriously, there is a lot of potential on the team, I mean I'd even be okay with Stiles."

"Oh my gosh. You need to stop." Lucy groaned. "Come on, we're leaving."

"Okay, okay." Melissa laughed, following her embarrassed daughter off the field.
