Lucy's eyes twitched as she lay in her bed. Her blanket was hanging off the bed and her shirt had risen up a bit from her trashing around.
She had strange dreams before, but this one felt different. She couldn't hear what she was saying, but she knew she was talking. The person in front of her, who was only a blur, was talking back. They were having a conversation, but Lucy couldn't hear a single word.
All she knew was that they were at the bus garage, near one of the buses. Whoever she was with grabbed her hand, pulling her towards the door of the bus. Was she with a boyfriend? A friend? Scott or her mom? Why couldn't she make out who it was?
The unknown person sat down on one of the bus seats, placing their back to the window as they kicked their legs up onto the cushion.
Instead of sitting with them, Lucy took a seat across from them. She got butterflies in her stomach the longer she looked at this person. Maybe it was someone she knew? It had to be, right?
She moved closer to the other person, placing her lips on their mouth as she climbed on top of them. Who was it? Who was she kissing?
In her bed, Lucy's eyebrows furrowed as sweat beaded down her forehead. Something didn't feel right. Her dream was beginning to feel more like a nightmare.
Everything in the dream changed so fast. The person she was with was on the floor, screaming as they desperately gripped onto the legs of the seats.
Something in Lucy's stomach twisted as she realized she was dragging this person further into the bus by their ankles. There were claws on her fingers where she normally had manicured nails. A shiver ran down her spine when the thought of killing this person entered her mind.
The next thing Lucy did in her nightmare, was actually kill the person she had been with.
Walking down the halls of Beacon Hills High, Lucy's blood ran cold when she heard whispers about the death of the bus driver. By the time she had gotten to her locker, she had heard every little detail about the murder.
Why was the death of someone she didn't know so similar to the nightmare that had plagued her mind the night before?
Lucy didn't have a good answer, but she did need to get to class.
Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her books and shut her locker. Maneuvering past her classmates, she made it into her first class just in time before the bell rang.
She took her seat at the back of the class, watching as her brother took his seat in front of Stiles, who was sitting a few seats over, in her direct line of sight.
Lucy watched the two, noticing how tense Scott seemed to be as Stiles leaned forward. Her other classmates were also deep in conversation, seeing how their teacher was late, but it hindered her ability to hear what Stiles was saying. His words were clearly angering her brother, her suspicion being confirmed when he shouted, "I don't know! Jeez."
The moment the class turned to glance at the boys was when their teacher walked in, passing out their previous tests.
A smile graced Lucy's mouth when she saw her grade, an outstanding 'A+.'
From her seat, her brown eyes landed on her brother's test. She frowned, seeing the 'D-.' Scott wasn't the smartest student in school, but he had never been one to get lower grades.
Lucy turned her attention back to her teacher, tucking her hair behind her ears and flipping her notebook open. With her pencil, she began to write down the notes from the board as quickly as she could, doing her best to ignore her classmates' hushed whispers about the bus driver incident.
She did her best to get through her first period and rushed out as quickly as she could when the bell rang, ignoring the concerned looks from Scott and Stiles.
Out in the halls, she bumped into Allison and Lydia. Seeing her best friends was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
"Hey guys." Lucy smiled, catching up with them.
"Hi, how are you?" Allison asked. Lucy opened her mouth to reply but closed it when she caught Lydia's knowing smirk.
"What's going?" She asked, looking between her friends.
Lydia gave Allison a pointed look and the brunette sighed. "Scott's coming over tonight. Just to study."
"Really?" Lucy grinned. "I had no idea."
"Well, we all know that 'just studying' never ends with just studying." Lydia hinted. "It's like, getting into a hot tub, somebody eventually cops a feel."
"Lydia, gross! That's my brother!" Lucy cringed.
"Wait, so what are you saying?" Allison stopped, turning to face her friends.
"I'm just saying, you know, make sure he covers up." Lydia smirked.
"Oh my god." Lucy covered her ears, which didn't work as well as she had hoped. Allison only gave the two girls a confused look, not understanding Lydia's hinting.
"Hello, snow-white! I'm talking about a condom."
"Are you kidding? After one date?" Allison gasped.
"Well don't be a total prude. Give him a little taste." Lydia smirked.
"Well, I mean, how much is 'a little taste'?" Allison fiddled with her bag, glancing uncomfortably at Lucy.
Before Lydia could speak, Lucy butted in. "Guys, could we please not talk about Allison and Scott doing it? That's my brother!" She covered her ears again, hoping it would block out the conversation she didn't want to hear.
"Sorry." Allison whispered to her friend, before she turned back to Lydia. "He's different. When I first moved here, I had a plan, no boyfriends till college. I just move too much. But then I met him, and he was different. I don't know. I can't explain it."
"You really like him, don't you?" Lucy finally uncovered her ears, tilting her head slightly as she spoke.
Allison smiled softly. "I do."
Lucy ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. She was in her car, trying to get out of the parking lot, when she ended up in a line of stopped cars.
She could see Stiles' jeep, the stopped vehicle causing the traffic jam, from where her car was.
Her forehead creased in confusion when she saw her brother helping Derek Hale into the passenger seat of the jeep. Wasn't he the guy from that house fire? And accused of a murder from a couple weeks ago? What were they doing with him?
She pursed her lips as Stiles drove away, letting the rest of the cars stuck in line do the same. Ignoring the urge to follow the Stilinski boy and see what was going on, Lucy drove her car home.
She pulled into an empty driveway. Scott probably wouldn't be home until late and her mother had gotten another late shift.
Once inside, Lucy dropped her bag on the floor beside her desk. She quickly changed into a hoodie and sweats before she laid on her bed, ready to sleep her stress away.
Her eyes flew open, remembering her stress had been from her dream. Rather, her nightmare.
Sitting up, Lucy hugged her legs as she rested the side of her face on her knees. Her long hair flowed down her sides and back, lightly tickling her cheek. She stared out her window, watching the neighbor kids play basketball in their driveway.
She turned away, laying on her back as her hair sprawled around her. It was one nightmare. It wasn't the end of her life. A nap would not hurt her, it might help her feel more refreshed.
Or, turning to face her bookshelf, she could read and temporarily escape reality for another night?
