Gia unlocked the front door, Nicco still on her mind. The house was completely quiet. It didn't use to be this way. Back when her father was a free man, whenever he was home, you could hear him arguing with someone over the phone.
Gia could never say about what or with who, the words weren't clear, but the tone of his voice made it very obvious it wasn't just some nice catch up with his mates.
She walked into the living room, expecting her stepmother to be there. Rosa didn't work. Marco was the one who worked and thanks to him they lived the way they did.
Gia wasn't sure, how they would live now, with her dad behind the bars. All of their money and most things they owned would probably be taken away in some time, after they completely close the investigation of her father's crimes.
"Hey," she greeted Rosa, who sat on a couch, glass of red wine sitting in front of her.
"Hey, Gianna, how was school?" She asked and sat up straight, placing a bookmark into the book she was holding, she closed it and placed it next to her.
Gia sighed, "fine," she nodded and put her lips in a thin line.
Rosa sighed and nodded after Gia's answer. She grabbed the wine glass and took a sip, then turned her attention back to the book.
Gia stood in the doorframe of the living room and watched Rosa.
Their relationship was never the best. Rosa never seemed to be very fond of her husband's daughter. She was always very cold to her and didn't really care enough to give Gia more than the bare minimum.
Gia's biological mother was never in the picture. The pregnancy was unexpected and not planned. She stayed for few years, but after that she packed her stuff, wrote Marco a note and left, leaving little Gia in her father's hands.
As for Gia's father, he and Gia used to be really close when she was just a little girl. As she grew older, Marco got more busy with work, and they grew apart a little bit. But she was still pretty close to him and Marco would do anything for his only daughter.
After Marco's arrest, Gia acted even more awkward in front of Rosa, considering the only thing that tied them together was now not here.
Rosa seemed to try and put effort into their relationship a little bit since then, but Gianna couldn't really care less.
"There's a party tonight," Gia announced. "I'm gonna come home late," she said, only receiving hum of acknowledgement from Rosa.
Going into her room, she plopped on her bed and tried not to think much about Niccolo, that's been on her mind twenty four seven lately it seemed. To help her mind to wander off, she pulled out her phone and called Ludo.
"You're up for a party? At Brando's?" Gia started when Ludo picked up the phone without a greeting. As she finished the sentence she grimaced, knowing all about the history between the two of them.
"A high school party? Lame," Ludovica rolled her eyes.
"I know," Gia groaned, turning around she burried her face into her pillow.
"I'll come," Ludo suddenly said, surprising Gia.
Gia perched up, raising her head from her pillow. "Really?" She asked, not bothering to hide excitement in her voice.
"Only if you'll be there, of course," Ludo said with a smile and rolled her eyes at Gia's excitement.
"If you are in, so am I, you know that."
"Alright," after a moment of silence Ludo spoke again. "I kind of hung out with Chiara today," she confessed.
Gia's eyes widened at Ludovica's confession and she sat up on her bed.
"You hung out with who?" Gia asked with wide eyes.
"Chiara," Ludo chuckled.
"How did that happen?" She furrowed her eyebrows with a smile on her face.
"I helped her fake a signature on some papers to America, and then I asked her to hang out, so we did. I drove us to our spot. She actually asked me to go to the party, I kind of agreed. she seems nice," Ludo finished.
After a moment of silence, "you're not mad, right?" Ludo asked.
"No, no," Gia chuckled, "I just.. I didn't expect that, you know."
"Are you trying to say it's weird I'm finding friends?" Ludo asked, joking.
Gia laughed, "yeah that's exactly what I'm trying to say," she joked and rolled her eyes. "No, just.. don't like her more than me, alright?" Gia laughed, joking.
"Come on! No one tops you. No one," Ludo said with a smile on her face. "We can all hang out, I mean you guys are friends right."
"Yeah."
_________
Gianna and Ludovica walked hand in hand into Brando's party. Gianna had decided to wear plain baggy black jeans and black top. She didn't feel like dressing in fancy mini dress tonight. Actually she never did when it was just a high school party.
Ludo looked around and made eye contact with Chiara, "look there's Chiara," she said, pointing with her head to the girl sitting on a couch next to Camilla and Fabio.
Gia looked at Chiara, before her gaze slid to Virginia making a rude gesture towards Ludo. While Ludo ignored her, Gia showed her a middle finger, took Ludo's hand in hers and walked towards Chiara who met them halfway.
Grabbing Chiara's hand, Ludo dragged both Gia and Chiara to a less crowded space.
"Crappy party, isn't it?" Ludo asked Chiara with a grin on her face.
Chiara looked around her, "it's awful," she said with the same grin.
"Listen this calls for something strong," Ludo said, looking at Gia with a knowing grin, which she returned and helped her prepare shots for them three.
"It's time for shots!" Gia exclaimed, clapping her hands together, grinning at Chiara. Chiara looked at her with raised eyebrows. She didn't know Gianna like this. She wasn't much of a party girl, yes she did go to parties sometimes, she also drank a little, but she's never seen her excited to get drunk. This was a new version of Gianna to her.
"Down it in one," Ludo told Chiara, handing her a glass with alcohol. "Your head will spin, but you won't vomit."
"What's the point?" Chiara asked.
"Just do it!" Ludo exclaimed.
"It'll be fun, trust me," Gia said to Chiara, holding her shot in her hand.
"Go on!" Ludo said and took her shot, before eating a lemon, grimacing.
The same did Gia, only she didn't grimace as much as Ludo.
After watching the two girls in front of her, Chiara copied their actions, took her shot and then groaned at the taste.
"Delicious, isn't it," Gia sarcastically said, narrowing her eyes at her and laughing.
"Are you guys nuts?" Chiara whined, wiping her lips.
Gia didn't answer, as she poured another shot for herself, "you guys want more?" She asked looking at the girls, both of them shaking their heads in no.
Ludovica didn't bat an eye at Gia taking another shot, however Chiara furrowed her eyebrows and watched her down the shot like a pro with concern.
After downing the shot, Gia made eye contact with Nicco behind Chiara. "Excuse me, I'll be back," she told the girls, leaving them to chat and walked towards where Nicco was standing.
Only he turned around and walked into a hallway, Gianna noticing to where he was waking followed him, until they were all alone in one of the bedrooms.
Gia closed the door behind them, locking it. Just so that they don't get interrupted while they talk.
"Enjoying the party," Nicco asked with a smirk on his lips.
"No. It's pretty shitty," she said, looking dead into his eyes.
"You came with pudding bowl?" Nicco asked, Gia glared at him for the use of Ludovica's nickname.
"Don't call her that," she firmly told him.
"Don't tell me you're actually friends with her now," he tilted his head at her, chuckling.
"I am, yeah. You got a problem with that?" She glared at him, walking closer to him.
"You're so sexy when you're angry," he said, his eyes darkening.
Gia tried to stay angry, she really did, but it was very hard for her.
"Don't look at me like that," she said, her eyes softening.
"Like what?" Nicco asked, playing innocent, knowing smirk on his face.
Carefully he put hands on her face, putting a strand of her fallen hair behind her ear. His gaze slipping from her eyes to her lips and back to her eyes.
Gia breathing heavily, put her hands on his chest, she tried to not look at him, knowing that once she looks at him, it's over for her.
"Look at me," Nicco said, tilting his head down a little to catch her eye.
As much as Gia fought it, she gave in and looked into his eyes. Her mind went blank and she forgot about everything, about everyone and the only person she that existed right now was Nicco standing in front of her and so close to her and next thing she knew she sneaked her hands up around his neck a pulled his lips to hers.
Nicco didn't waste a second before burying his hands in her hair, tugging her closer to him, so close their chests were touching.
Gia sighed into the kiss, both from pleasure and relief. She finally, after such a long time, got to feel his lips on hers. Technically, it was two days since they last kissed, but that was way too long for her.
Nicco smiled in response. His hands slid from her hair to her waist, slowly going under her shirt.
Gia's hands wandered to his hair and she gently tugged at the strands at the nape of his neck. Nicco groaned in response and it was Gia's turn to smile against his lips, liking the fact that she knew what he liked and what turned him on.
"Fuck," Nicco started saying, pulling his lips away for a second and then kissing her again, "I missed you," he said between the kisses.
He missed her. Not this, but her. He didn't miss just fucking her, he didn't miss her body. He missed her as a whole and something inside Gianna tightened.
As Nicco's hand traveled down to Gia's ass, a loud banging on the door made Gia jump and separate from Nicco, while he stood there, watching her, not even acknowledging the banging and someone yelling on the other side of the door.
"Unlock the fucking door, dickheads! No fucking in my room!" A voice that Gia recognizes as Brando's yelled. Gia looked around and realized that this in fact does not look like a guest room.
Gia looked at Nicco, who kept staring at her and seemed in no rush to open the door, while she stood there with wide eyes, looking around her panicking and trying to think of a plan.
She narrowed her eyes at Nicco, who narrowed his eyes back at her. Running a hand through her hair, she tried to comb it with her fingers to not give away that they just made out in here. She then straightened her shirt and wiped the lipstick from Nicco's lips, who just smiled at her touch.
He loved when she touched him. He wished she would never stop.
"How do I look?" She hurriedly asked, Brando still behind the door yelling at them and then muttering under his breath.
"Perfect," Nicco said, looking at her, wishing he could kiss her again.
"No," Gia groaned, trying not to blush. "I mean do I have messy hair, lipstick smudged or something?" She asked and gestured to her face.
Nicco took a second before leaning down and giving her a quick kiss, pulling away he ran his thumb along her lips, "perfect."
Gia blinked, not expecting the gentle kiss. Shaking it off she gathered a courage and unlocked the door.
"Finally you fucking shit..." Brando trailed off, coming face to face with the guilty looking blonde and his happy looking friend. "Oh," he said and raised his eyebrows, taking a look at both of them, he noticed the slightly swollen, reddish lips both of them now had and a smirk has formed in his face.
Gia, without saying a word walked past him and didn't look back, hoping that he would be a good friend and keep his mouth shut.
She didn't have high hopes.
