Saudade
07:32, 27 April 2025Saudade, (n.) a nostalgic longing to be near someone that has been loved then lost. "The love the remains."
Today was the day. I was getting out of here. I sat as Abe tried to break my handcuffs with a hammer he stole the previous night.
"It doesn't hurt does it? We can't really escape if you have a broken wrist since you're the one with powers." He smiled but I knew it was more than that, he cared for me.
"No, it punches a bit but I'm fine. Let's hurry up she get then off though."
He banged on the handcuffs once more and finally he was able to pull the handcuffs off, revealing a bloody wrist. His face scrunched up.
"When you get to the armory you can get that cleaned up. I'll find you when I've taken care of the guards."
"Abe, I've been thinking, and you still don't have powers."
"Yeah so?"
"You might... die." I felt myself tear up but I blinked it away, I hated how weak I was. I'm forced to kill a few members off my family and now I can't even handle the word "die"?
He looked me in the eyes and squeezed my hand lightly.
"I will be okay Ashlyn, but I need you safe letting people out of their cells. Okay?"
"Promise me?"
"I promise."
"Okay then... let's break out of here."
I pulled open the door out and quickly knocked out the two guards in front of it cell. We ran the armory and evey guard got webbed up and then knocked out. It felt good to use my powers again. When we got to the armory door Abe typed in the codes he had stolen and the door opened with a click.
I ran inside and grabbed a gun and knife. I grabbed a knife sheath that was attached to a belt and pulled it on. I held the gun. I turned around to see Abe watching me and
I spread my arms out.
"How do I look?" I asked.
"Beautiful," he whispered and walked towards me and stared at me for a moment. I stared back and then suddenly his mouth was attached to mine. He put his arms around me and I held him back. I closed my eyes, he tasted sweet and his skin was soft and smooth against mine. I felt like I was floating but it was interrupted my an alarm blaring. He pulled away.
"I have to go." He said urgently, "While I get rid if the guards clean that wrist and then go free anyone who's in a cell. Got it?"
I roll my eyes. "You've told me the plan about a hundred times already but yes, I got it."
"I just want to make sure everything goes perfectly, I can't lose you."
"I can't lose you either so remember your promise. Now go!"
He did and I heard gunshots outside hopefully none aimed at him. I ran to the first aid kit on the counter and quickly cleaned the wound. I would rather be helping him than doing this but he would kill me so I hurried as fast as I could. When I was five I turned around to see... Mr. Abramov.
"Hello Ashlyn. ухожу так скоро?" He smirked. (Leaving so soon?)
"Да, на самом деле." I responded. (Yes, actually.)
"I love the hope, even if it is for nothing."
At that at least fifteen guards stormed the little room, covering the only exit. I was surrounded. I looked around seeing everyone, stone I knew but most I didn't. They all looked like good fighters.
"You aren't stoping me." I stated.
Three guards ran forward and tried to grab me but I shot them all in the head. Everyone then rushed at me except for Mr. Abramov who of course stood watching with a smile. I served up to the ceiling and looked down at the guards. I shot some but the rest saw where I was and aimed their guns at me. I dropped to the ground in the middle of them and kicked their legs out from underneath them. I shot them when they fell and webbed the last guy to the wall. I turned and looked at the man I feared and hated.
"Move away from the door," I ordered.
He smirked, "You're giving orders now?"
I webbed him to the floor and stepped over him to leave. I walked out without protest as his mouth was webbed too. I walked out she looked around, wondering which way I should go to free other soldiers. But the I heard a scream. Abe.
I ran towards the scream and arrived in the only hallway in the entire building that has an exit to the outside world. Men littered the ground in bloody forms and I forced myself to look away. Finally my eyes fell on Abaddon. Shit! He had a deep gunshot wound in his stomach and his hands were trying miserably to stop the bleeding. He found me and smiled weakly.
I sprinted towards him and sat on my knees immediately putting pressure to the wound.
"Hey Ashlyn," he greeted. "It's not as bad as it... looks."
"Well it looks pretty fucking bad! What happened?!"
"A man shot me be'ore I could get to him. He's dead no'." He said simply. His started slurring his words.
(A man shot me before I could get to him. He's dead now.)
"Rem'mber when we met? You were so sc'red..." he coughed. "I h'lped you didn't I? Com'orte' you? I trie'... I trie' so har'.. Ashlyn it hur's..." he closed his eyes.
(Remember when we met? You were so scared... I helped you didn't I? Comforted you? I tried... I tried so hard... Ashlyn it hurts...)
"No!" I slapped him awake. I put more pressure on the wound. Then I took of my jacket and wiped the blood off wound. It was very deep.
"Everythings going to be fine, okay? Just hang on!"
"Righ', I trust' you." His words got more slurred and then his eyes widened suddenly. (Right, I trust you.)
"Ashlyn?! Wha' are you doin', you nee' 'o go!" (Ashlyn?! What's are you doing, you need to go!)
"I'm not leaving you!"
He coughed and tried his hardest to speak properly, " 'romise me you'll s'ay safe?" (Promise me you'll stay safe?)
"I promise." I let out a choked sob.
He grabbed my hand and stared into my eyes for a moment. A faint smile appeared on his face and then a moment later, his eyes fluttered close.
"NO! Fuck, wake up! Abe!" I yelled, shaking him.
His hand dropped out of mine and his eyes closed, forever. I was alone. I leaned my head on his chest as I sobbed, there was no heartbeat. I clutched his shirt as if holding him would prevent him from going to heaven. I screamed and heard footsteps running towards me. I sat on my knees and screamed, screamed until the guards came. Screamed until they the grabbed the syringe. And screamed until the inserted the syringe into my neck. I passed out, heartbroken.
